I'm always in awe with the Techs here and the Manager Trish, always goes above and beyond. You can tell she takes pride in her customer service and her staff supports that also. I have a Landrover and the Dealership could not find a coolant leak not once, but twice. I took my car to Wilhelm in Anthem and they were able to find the leak right away. Channing not only found the leak but located a defective part in the coolant line. Kyle and Justin are great Techs too and have also worked on my Landrover. No More Dealership Service for My Truck I was driving down I-17 at 75 mph when my well-maintained 2016 Silverado suddenly lost power -- I lost steering control, braking became difficult, the wipers turned on by themselves, and several LED alerts started flashing. It was a scary experience! O'Reilly Auto Parts ran a diagnostic scan and confirmed the battery was fine, suggesting it might be the alternator, but they recommended I go to a Chevy dealership for a more advanced diagnosis. I went to Midway Chevy, and the service advisor immediately said I needed a new battery. I wasn't confident in that quick assessment and asked for a full inspection, but they said it could take up to two days just to look at it -- and several more days for repairs. That meant a week of car rental costs and a huge bill! So, I decided to find a local shop and had my truck towed to Wilhelm Automotive in Anthem, AZ. Best decision ever. The next morning, Wilhelm's team ran a thorough diagnostic and found the real issue -- a wiring problem between the engine and the battery. They fixed it the same day, in just a few hours, and at a very reasonable price. Today 6 February 2026 I obtained a cashiers check from Chase Bank for $429 to pay for lower control arm repairs. When I checked in to the service center front desk I handed them the key fob and cashiers check. After the representative placed the key fob and service request into a plastic jacket, the supervisor/ manager took the check and stated she needs to call the bank to clear the check. She later claimed that the bank didn't respond and asked if I could go back to the bank, cash the check, and bring back the cash to pay for repairs. I stated I need my car keys to go to the bank to do what she just asked. She then had the AUDACITY to tell me she cannot give me my car keys back until I paid for repairs (while she's holding the cashiers check)! This is the most disrespectful thing I've ever experienced. I am a Disabled Retired Combat Veteran with almost 28 years of service. I am a Retired Army Sergeant Major. I have never been so blatantly disrespected. I will never recommend this company to anyone I am associated with. I will notify all Veteran Organizations I'm associated with to avoid Wilhelm Automotive Services. We brought my truck in for a whistling noise when accelerating. We were told the turbo needed to be replaced, after they diagnosed it being out of tolerance and leaking oil. We put money down for them to order parts & was told they would call us when the parts came in. I didn't hear from them, so I called them & they told us we had an appointment on Monday but never let us know. We brought the truck in for repair which they said would take 2 days. Well after 3 days of not hearing from them my husband once again called them & they told him the turbo was done and the truck was back together, but a bolt and a nut was missing from the exhaust manifold. They had put the truck back together, but they needed another day to analyze how to fix the problem. We gave them the 4th day and after several calls to check on the status, nothing was done. went to pick it up on the 5th day. My husband wanted to hear the truck run before he paid for it & sure enough they didn't fix the problem. So we went inside to talk about it. My husband asked the manager why the problem we brought it in there for wasn't fixed. She told him they wanted to put it back up on the lift and check it out, but we wanted to pick it up. My husband told her they had 4 days to do that & her response was they have other customers! Then she preceded to pick up a box of parts off the counter which fell out of the bottom of the box onto the floor almost hitting the leg of a lady sitting in the waiting room. My husband talked to the mechanic that worked on the truck & the person who diagnosed the problem who couldn't give him an answer, why the problem was not fixed. We then paid for the turbo they changed & left. We took the truck to a ford dealer & there was an exhaust manifold leak that they said the mechanics at Wilhems could not have missed. As they were doing the repairs they found that upon removal of turbo charger, the solennoid connector locks were missing, during previous charger replacement, the connector was super glued into vgt solenoid to prevent it from coming out. The connector was not able to be removed form solenoid without damage. This cost us an additional charge of $590. They took pictures of the part & actually gave us the damaged part. Our truck is now fixed but we will never take any vehicle back to Willhems again. Wilhems could have stopped the project and addressed the problem of the leaking exhaust manifold. while the turbo charger was apart from the manifold. Instead, I had to incur the cost of taking the engine apart again and fixing the original problem I HAD TAKEN IT IN FOR!! read more

Called back, they said it was a mistake, and then I guess just sat the phone down as nobody would answer when I asked if anybody was there. Called 3 more times and was immediately hung up on. I accidentally polluted my gas tank with DEF and almost destroyed my engine. The mechanic there, I believe his name was Channing, went over and above. He completely cleaned out the system and had my fuel system put back together in a very short period of time. That could've been catastrophic for a nearly new diesel engine. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost and could not be happier with the service and communication I received from Trish in the office. If I have any issues with my vehicles , I would not even consider taking it somewhere else. They even called a while after I left the shop to ask me how the was doing. read more

Well it turns out this shop is a SCAM we paid over $1k for something warranty should've covered. Not just that but they didn't even do their job correctly! Brought my car in for what I thought was a benign check engine light and ended up facing several repairs that were more than what we had anticipated and we were going to have to pick and choose/prioritize the needs!! Your store addressed this in the most customer/person-friendly, ethical and responsible manner that in my personal experience, is rarely seen in the automotive repair industry. I was moved to tears when I received the call from store manager Trish who explained what could be done to accommodate all the repairs at a fair price because she felt it was important for them not to be neglected!! Her extra efforts to work with our warranty company, obtain the needed parts and apply coupons all to OUR benefit and in OUR best interest resulted in us being able to get all the work done at a rate that was more feasible for us. The humanity and purpose driven actions (i.e., best outcomes for the customer) that were demonstrated by this location are commendable! I recently had an issue with my car where there was a knocking noise in motor. I went to Wilhelm where I have been a consistent customer. I ask them to fix the engine knocking and they do the service for $800 providing engine mounts. They complete the service and the problem still persists. Flash forward to today I go in to have it looked at and they have the audacity to upcharge me with additional work rather than solve the original issue. Absolutely horrible service in which not only do they not stand behind the shoddy work they do. They upcharge you to fix the original problem. I'm 800 dollars deep for nothing. Absolute crooks!! Part of a tire came careening at our car, and we had no choice but to drive over it. About 15 miles down the road the car started thumping underneath like mad. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. I went to the Anthem location to repair a single shot wheel bearing on my Forester. The first quote they gave me was around $1200. After I asked for an exact price breakdown (this repair typically costs $500 max at a dealer), magically a "coupon" appeared that lowered the cost to $1000. Then, after the breakdown, I noticed that they were charging me for 2.5 hours of labor for a 1.5 hour repair (mind you at the exorbitant price of $190/hour). After challenging this, they were suddenly able to get the repair done in 2 hours. Now I am paying $850. Upon arriving to pick-up my car, an added $100 inspection fee was a delightful surprise. Would have immediately gone elsewhere if my car was safe to drive. I'm a local teacher and don't have mountains of cash lying around for them to rob. Hope they sleep well at night. The only good thing was that, apart from getting swindled, the reps were very communicative and "friendly". read more

Went there for an alignment on my truck, after an other shop recommended them. First off, they're more expensive for an alignment than the dealership charged me. Cause I had to get it redone. Wilhelm first did a crap job, I asked them to correct it. They blew me off for a week till getting me back in to fix the alignment. When I showed up, the manager was rude and the technician also. They didn't fix the issues and wasted my time and money. I won't recommend this shop or location to anyone, go elsewhere. read more

Took my 2007 Chevy Avalanche in due to a "Traction Control" & "Stabilitrak" light coming on. They told me they know the problem is a "motor encoder".... a thousand dollars later & over two months the issue did not change. They took it back in and charged $4,500+ (still not sure what for) I know they took the engine head cover off because when I picked the truck up the head cover was missing a bolt & the oil dip stick was sticking halfway out. They said it was all good to go. Nothing changed. Still getting same errors. I finally gave up and took it to a mechanic down the road where they fixed it in two days. My car was making an intermittent noise. Of course, when I dropped it off, it wouldn't make the noise. They kept it for 2 days at my request until they were able to get it to make the noise and then figure out what it was. After they fixed it, I was expecting to pay a lot for the amount of time they had spent on it. Let's just say I was shocked and thrilled at how little it cost me. I'd give 0 stars if possible. DO NOT take your car to Wilhelm Automotive. They continue to give me every excuse in the book to not diagnose my vehicle, after I have already paid for it. They lack the basic ability of the most simple customer service, and like to take advantage of people. I called to inquire about a cost to replace my rear main seal. I was given the estimate, but was told to bring it in for a COMPLIMENTARY diagnostics with UV dye in the oil. After questioning the validity of it being COMPLIMENTARY, I was assured it was because "it has to be done regardless to confirm the location of the leak". My wife brought the vehicle in to add the dye, she was asked to leave the car all day, but luckily a technician was able to squeeze it in for a 5 minute job. She then was charged for a diagnostic fee because "they don't do anything for free". After waiting a week, like they said, we brought it in at 8:30 for our SCHEDULED appointment. When my wife called at 2:30 to pick up the vehicle in order to get our kids from school, she was told it was getting ready to be inspected. At 4:30 we arrived to Wilhelm and they have not moved the vehicle and were THEN, just starting to pull it in. After a few minutes the "couldn't find anything and needed it for another day". After complaining about the service, the manager made an exception to schedule an appointment as the very first vehicle to be inspected. When my wife showed up at 7:30, after scheduling a ride home and some to take the kids to school, the manager says no one is able to inspect it and wanted us to leave the vehicle for the rest of the week. So sincerity, no accommodations, just refusing to perform work that was paid for. read more

After telling us we needed a battery, we were taken advantage of by the clever bait and switch method they used to sell us a battery for our F-150 2021 Ford Lariat. They told us they didn't have the battery in stock. (We are leaving soon and they didn't know how long it would take to get the battery) They said they could see if O'Reilly's Auto Parts across the street had one in stock. They called and reported to us the battery would be $508.00. We felt we had no other choice to keep our truck running, so we had them buy the battery and install it. After returning home, we noted on the bill that there was a disclaimer saying we, the customer, had declined the parts and services listed as, Battery $269.99 w/install $299.98. (Which we felt was a much fairer price, but we were told they did not have the battery). After thinking about this, we called O'Reilly's anonymously and asked for pricing on the exact battery that Wilhelm's sold us. The battery is priced at $249.99! What a dishonest business. We called customer service numerous times but no one called back. We were hoping they'd make things right. Apparently they don't care. read more

Two weeks ago when I was heading up to Anthem my car started to smoke when I got to a stop light off the exit. Luckily I was right by the place I need to go to so I pulled into the parking lot and popped the hood. Antifreeze was coming out of my heater core hoses. I went inside the place where I had to go and after I was done there, I figure I'd take it over to a mechanic shop to get it fixed. I would normally do this job on my own if it was at my house, but since I was close by to Wilhelm auto id take it to them. I figured the job couldn't be more than $400 at best. When I got there, I told them the issue. They said they would have to have a technician look at it, which won't be till later in the day. So they got me an Uber and I went to my house. At About 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I received a work proposal for the vehicle. They quoted me $1900 before taxes to replace the heater core line flush the system and put a thermostat in. I immediately called them up and told them I will have my vehicle towed to my normal mechanic shop and have him do the work. Long story short, my Mechanic charged me $440 to replace the line put a new valve in and change the oil. These chain auto repair shops Are thieves And unfortunately they are all over the valley. Luckily I have a mechanic that is honest and does great work. How can you justify to overcharge somebody $1800 to fix the vehicle and think that's OK. The car they were going to work on was my mother's vehicle which is a 2003 Chrysler caravan it's book value is like $2400 and they wanted to charge me $2200 for a simple repair job. I would definitely not recommend this shop or any other Automotive chain company. read more

Great experience with this crew. My work truck ripped a CV boot and relieved itself of its bearings somewhere in Phoenix. I needed to be in Albuquerque ASAP, so I found myself using a sawzal and my generator on the side of the road trying to cut the axle shaft in half, in order to pull the busted axle out and throw a new one in. (Remind me to grab an impact and slide hammer next time I'm home..) As you can guess, that didn't work too well, and 2 heavy metal blades and 1/16" into the axle I decided I was wasting time, so I tracked down a loaner truck and arranged to have mine taken to any shop that was nearby. This was a Saturday night, so I knew there was no chance to speak to anyone, and I'd just roll the dice on the shop I chose. Wilhelm had envelopes for the key drop where you could write all your info and describe your issues. So I did just that, and drove straight to Albuquerque. Ashley called first thing Monday morning to run through the issues with me, told me they'd get it fixed that day. There were multiple calls back and forth required to get approval from me, and for me to get approval from my boss, and the shop to get approval from our fleet management company, but she was super nice and helpful every time we spoke. She called again in the afternoon to tell me it was done. When I reminded her I was out of the state and wasn't sure when I'd be able to come get it, she told me it wasn't an issue and it would be here waiting. I managed to break off work early today and made the run back down to Phoenix to grab it. She left the keys in an agreed stash spot, and all documents and stuff were left in the truck for me to have. The Anthem location took my car in without an appointment and was able to fix it the same day. They even paid for a Lyft so I could get home while they worked on my car. Update on my prior review.... after leaving my review the owner of Tobias called me. Andy Tobias. He was out of town, but called me the same night. He immediately apologized, did not make excuses, he said that his team had handled the entire situation wrong, and wanted to make it right. What I remember him saying is that "I'm on your side Sarah, your right and I would appreciate the opportunity to make this right". Long story short, the crew had not initially tested my car for a highway drive, which is what started the issue of not finding out what was wrong. Then after that they didn't check the brakes because if they would have they would have seen they needed replacing. Anyway, I really appreciated that he called to make it right. It's rare that a business will go to these efforts to ensure the proper customer experience and reputation. All businesses will have the occasional issue occur, how they handle those issues is what separates the great companies from the rest. Andy and his team certainly went above and beyond to make sure this issue was taken care of. So we let them repair what needed to be repaired and will continue to take my optima there to be serviced. Used to love this place for a while until the quotes started getting ridiculous. I went in for an alignment and they wanted $450 to replace the steering rack bushings, presumably because you have to remove the steering rack and that means flushing all the fluids. However, I found a quick and easy way on YouTube, so my buddy who is a mechanic came over and we did the bushing in about an hour and a half by simply moving the steering rack to the side. The part cost me $30, and I paid my buddy $100 to say thanks. To add insult to injury they also recommended I get a new steering rack because it was 'seeping' and 'could start leaking at any time'. That was a $2500 job. The steering rack is fine, it just needed new bushings. I'm very disappointed because they are nice people, but if you're not careful they'll gladly replace stuff that doesn't need replacing and charge a premium for it. read more

I don't see how Wilhelm Automotive has a 4.7 rating because they are HORRIBLE. Took my 96 Jeep Cherokee to them, looking to get my A/C looked at. Totally understood when they told me a backyard mechanic took out the fuse box and it would be expensive diagnosing it. So I asked them to check the cruise control and an alignment. Two days later, received a call from Brad or Brandon stated I stop by the shop and discuss the repairs. Fair enough, I get there to have him discussing the A/C system. He also inform me that there is oil leaking from the top of the engine, so the valve gasket may need to be replaced. Cool but THEN he says the control arm and gear box needs replacing. Which is odd because I had them replaced last than a year ago. (checked with the mechanic who serviced it and he has the documents to prove it) But I asked the sale rep to give me an estimate and he agreed and promised to call me on Thursday. Thursday comes, no call. So I wait until Friday and was told they've been so busy and had a mechanic call off. Then he give me an estimate of $2100.00 to do the repairs. He was shocked when I informed him that I would be picking it on Monday. Today, they tried to charge me $30 for an A/C diagnostic. Not until I reminded them that Brad or Brandon said there was no charge, I got my Jeep and will NEVER GO BACK!! My goal.is to drop that 4.7 rating down some. read more

Just went in b/c my 5 year old Chrysler 200S was having some a/c issues and this company had a coupon to check it out. The guys were great! They told me what was wrong, gave me an estimate and had it done w/in a few hours-no more clicking noise, a/c is quieter and it was more than fairly priced (as opposed to what the Chrysler agency has estimated).
