Party of 4 came in for supper. Shaun was great and provided excellent service, however he didn't offer any other beverages or bring a drink menu, as I was looking forward to having a beer. It was pretty loud and somewhat difficult to have a conversation, but we did enjoy ourselves. Everyone enjoyed their meals, especially the onion rings. Unfortunately, the Reuben I ordered was not good at all. The rye bread was obviously burnt on one side, there was very little sauerkraut, corned beef was dry, and the sauce was nonexistent. Ate there on 6/18/22. Got the "First Generation" burger with waffle fries. Brought a 3 year old who got the soft taco kids meal. I liked everything on the burger except the meat itself. I asked for medium, expecting fresh ground beef to make that possible. When the meal came, the patty was clearly some type of pre-formed patty, looking like one of the kind you can buy frozen. Hexagon like a stop sign. Terrible taste and texture. I couldn't finish it, so I ate the rest of the burger sound it, and that was good. 3 year old enjoyed her soft taco. I'll be back to try something else out, because the ambiance in this place was epic. Easily one of the top ten designed restaurants in the state of Minnesota, if not top five. We went on a Saturday night and it happened to be Prom Night for the local high school kids. It was a neat atmosphere to see the well behaved kids having fun on an important night in their lives. Very nice place to eat, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a salad which came with a pop over which was light and airy it melted in your mouth. I'm not sure if they make their own salad dress or not but I highly enjoyed the thousand island dressing it had a little spice to it which was very different compared to most thousand island dressings, the salad it's self was a mixture of different types of salad mix along with tomatoes, onions, carrots, & radishes. I also ordered the blackened chicken pasta. The chicken was so juicy & moist it just melted when you cut into it the taste and texture was surburb. The pasta was tender and delicious. I was in Wahpeton for business and realized there were not a lot of good options for dining. Got a recommendation to try the place from a local and I'm glad I did. My boss and I ate there two nights in a row. The loaded potato skins and calzones are fantastic. I tried the burger the second night and it was also great. They make their own bbq sauce, be sure to try it out. The waitstaff were above average, especially Heather at the bar. The owner Tom chatted with us and told us some of the history of the restaurant and building. Overall, if you have to be in southeast North Dakota it's well worth a visit. read more

Whenever I visit this area, the Wilkin is always a staple as it is really the only show in town. The food here is good quality and consistent and the atmosphere is pretty cool as well. I used to visit this many times when I was in college and it hasn't changed much other than the expansion. I wish they had IPA on tap but they do have EPA on tap. Never heard of EPA before tonight.....not a bad beer. I always try to sit in the bar area as there area a few more TVs to watch and just has a better vibe to it. For the area this is good. The menu is extensive with primarily burgers and sandwiches. After five there are added dinner items. Full bar with a few taps. The should offer better taps. Moose Drool and Stones throw are ok. I ordered the bacon cheese burger with fried egg (the Tom). The burger was over cooked (ordered medium rare) and under seasoned and too much cheese. Not sure why you'd ever be in Whapeton/Breckenridge, but if you ever find yourself stuck there (as I did recently for a family reunion thing) be sure to stop by the Wilkin! The service is friendly and quick, the beer are huge & cheap (but for some reason, they won't serve Sam Adams or Blue Moon in pitchers... why?), and the calzones are delicous. I suppose this place probably gets more stars than it would be worth in a real city but that's because the other options in that are are so terrible. Also, when you're with a big group of fun people, you have fonder memories than I might otherwise have if I had eaten there alone... I ate (on 2 different nights) the vegetarian pita (pretty good, but not great), and a spinich and garlic calzone (excellent). My brother ordered $0.25/wings that he said were really spicy and delicious, though I can't vouch for that since I don't eat meat. The interior of the place is pretty cool. Nice old-stylings, big booths with jacket/bag hooks on the outside, and occasionally live music. They've got a few TV's showing ballgames, too, and lots of historic middle-of-nowhere photos lining the walls. Be sure to check the ornate cavernous ceiling, too. So, if you're in the middle of nowhere and need to whet your whistle, hit up the Wilkin! It's right across from the old Breckenridge Train Depot. read more

Probably the best place to eat or drink for many miles in any direction. Great atmosphere, good food and drinks and good service. This place would be popular in any city but it's a treasure in such a small town. The Walleye was great and so was every else we tried. Over 100 years old and maintaining a good standard. I love the large booths in the back, six of us sat in one and it was very private and not crowded. On another evening they accomodated 16 of us at one table with smooth service. Hands-down your best option for dining in Wahpeton-Breckenridge. Whenever I'm visiting my parents in Wahpeton, I make sure to hit up the Wilkin with my remaining friends in town. The ambiance is superb and the food is good. Quick service, but if you do wait for some reason you can occupy yourself with pull-tabs and popcorn. They have the most sophisticated selection of boozes available in the greater W/B area, which is definitely to my liking. As the previous poster wrote, this place probably does seem to shine more here than it would in a bigger city, but it's great to have something this nice in a small town. I love the charm and atmosphere here, however, the food has been mediocre at best. We were served the most pitiful, soggy, limp popovers I have ever seen, followed by fried shrimp with a salad. The salad was served with dinner , so that was different. The shrimp was heavily battered and I ended up scraping most of it off.
