We stopped here for lunch while on a motorcycle ride. The best part of this restaurant is the location right on the east side of the Rappahannock River. It has both outdoor and indoor seating facing the river. The food is good and the staff is friendly, nothing fancy, but a great place to stop if you're passing through. read more

Have only gone for lunch and it is great value! They make an excellent willaburger - with bacon and thick melted cheddar cheese on it. The restaurant is in the coolest building--make to look like a steamboat with view of the Rappahannock and church pews as seating. The food is excellent and the lemonade is to die for. We had Willaby's cater both the BBQ/Oyster Roast on Saturday and then brunch the next morning. The food was delicious and the service superb. I was able to enjoy my own party as they took care of EVERYTHING. Everyone had a fantastic time and Willaby's catering made the whole event a breeze. The wild caught local oysters were roasted perfectly on site. The BBQ pork and grilled chicken were absolutely wonderful. All of it was excellent. For brunch, the french toast was to die for. We thought we might have a lot of leftovers, but we fed our house guests Sunday evening and Monday morning and all was completely devoured. They even left us the coffee from the brunch and it was excellent--even two days later. Their coffee is organic and fair trade, too. Great food, service, and environmentally responsible. I was traveling on business (3 hours from home) in the Northern Neck and had a hankering for seafood... Well, Willaby's not only hit the spot, but exceeded my expectations... Angela was my server and very attentive and offered perfect menu suggestions... It truly was some of the best "fried" shrimp so fresh and very lightly delicious breading, and hush puppies, - the best I have ever had..and cole slaw... every thing hand made there! .Waterfront dining was certainly a plus. Everything was great! This could not be a nicer payed back place, setting is on the Rappahannock River in White Stone, VA. Wish they had a place like this that took so much prided in service and food prep like where I am from in Keowee Key! This is better than Country Club living. read more

Had a private party there not long ago for clients. The food and drink could not have been better. Everything was excellent.

We loved Willaby's at their old in-town location and were so sad after the fire but the new location on the Rappahannock is just delightful! This is a very relaxed and casual place...they have always had the best oyster stew on the planet and dependable sandwiches and soup for lunch but the new chef has really been a tremendous addition...the "grilled" sandwiches are now really grilled and he has introduced some wonderful new items to the menu. The staff remember you and treat you like family and the views of the river are great....now that they are open for dinner you can have a riverside seat for the wonderful sunsets and even eat outside under the new awning if you choose. This is such a comfortable place! You will love it! And do yourself a favor and order a side of hush puppies...they aren't huge but they are utterly perfect! read more

Went there on a dismal rainy day with two others shortly before their closing time. Crab cakes lived up to their reputation, Oyster sandwich a winner, and French dip sandwich was delicious. Everything was so good and hot that desserts of lime tarts were the perfect ending. The servers were very pleasant and didn't make us feel rushed. We will be back! read more

A busy lunch day and the service and food is still good. Their burger is large, juicy and cooked to order on a fresh bun. The waffle fries are lightly seasoned coated and very tasty. The Caesar salad topped with fried oysters was very good also although the added oysters on the salad were more than the salad. Their iced tea is good and fresh. read more

Had dinner here Saturday night and were sooo pleased with everything. The smoked fish stew was delicious and unique! The shrimp po boy was the best I have ever tasted, my husband had the crab cake and loved it. So we just had to try a homemade dessert and choose the peanut butter pie, fabulous!! Not even going to try. When I see a Menu and it says " creative mix of Specialty Cheese paired with toppings of the Chef's Whim". That tells me the chef is not very consistent with what he puts on your order and The way some of their menu items are worded just seems like they're trying to hide something. read more

Sunday breakfast is always relaxing at Willabys. The food is always hot and fresh and the wait staff is attentive. I love variety of foods on the menu but be sure to save room for dessert. The only negative would be access, though it does meet ADA standards I is a bit difficult for people with severe mobility issues but are not yet chair bound. The grits are the best ever. read more

Waited 20 or so minutes for a table after being told 5 minutes. Completely okay with the wait time. We each had a cold beverage to make the time pass. Then we were seated outside only to have the awning drip like a monsoon!!! Server came out and acknowledged the fact we were being "rained" on and left!! Asked to be seated elsewhere, told to go to another inside table. We happily agreed!! Only to be told that a particular server needed that table and we could no longer have that table!!! Then we were told " sorry, but you will now be put to the the bottom of our waiting list"!!! Never again!!! Worst management and customer service ever!!! read more

Had lunch at Willaby's yesterday. Waited an hour to be served which is not the first time for slow service. My husband was told to read the specials and I'll be back to you - with an attitude. My lunch of steamed shrimp was pretty much thrown on the table and the cole slaw ended up on my lap and the floor. The server walked away without an apology. I said that I wasn't paying for lunch. When the bill came, the server said they were going to charge 50% - needless to say, we didn't pay for my lunch. My husband ordered a burger yet when my food was brought out the server said that the kitchen had burned the original burger order. When the burger arrived it was well done [asked to be medium rare] and smashed as though it needed to be cooked quickly. Oyster stew was also brought to the table and left there - which was part of our friends meal - and they already had it. The worst ever. The server said that there were two new cooks in the kitchen - which is not an excuse for poor service especially on a Saturday. read more

My husband and I drove nearly an hour to try this restaurant and I left feeling very unwelcome. We came on a Friday night and the "hostess" told us there were no seats available. That was fine so I asked her how long and she told me probably two hours and the kitchen would be closing in 30 minutes. Two hours?! Really?! It was obvious I was getting the brush off. Who doesn't have a table available for two hours? I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she was the manager! I don't know if that was a lie as well as she looked very young - too young to be managing a restaurant. I am in my 50's and dine out frequently. I have found that privately owned non-franchise restaurants really want to earn your business and will always try to accommodate a new customer. I even told this young girl we had driven an hour to come to there restaurant and she could have cared less. A customer overheard our conversation and came up to tell me they would be leaving in a few minutes and to please take their table. I did but the damage was done by the so called manager. Its pretty bad when you want to complain to management only to find the person you are complaining about is the manager. If I was the owner of this establishment, I would spend more time in my restaurant during peak times to see what is going on - that is assuming the owner even cares. I would never waste my time at this restaurant again. read more
