I'm a new patient at Willamette Dental Group in Eugene, and my experience has been amazing so far. My first appointment included an exam, X-rays, a treatment plan, and a cleaning all in one visit. The staff was very friendly, professional, and efficient, and everything moved quickly without feeling rushed. I was then scheduled promptly for five fillings. At that appointment, Dr. Khunger and her staff were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and understanding of my dental anxiety. They offered different ways to help me feel more relaxed and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. They explained every step they were doing and checked on me often during the procedure. When I finished, I was so happy that scheduling was able to get me back in just two days later for more fillings. I absolutely love this dental office. This has been, by far, the best experience I've ever had at the dentist. Not only does my dental work look great, but the overall experience has been top-tier. I have been coming to this office for the past few years, and the service has become abysmal the past few years. My last two dental hygiene appointments have been canceled. When I went to re-schedule I was told I could no longer schedule with my hygienist and would be given a random hygienist going forward. When we finally got to re-scheduling, I told them I was available two days a week due to work. I called February 23rd, AND they could not schedule me because their scheduling only goes through March 31and there were no days that could accommodate me. I am amazed they could not schedule anything in April or May!! My incident is not the only one in our family. Last year my husband went in for his appointment and when he got there, they did not have a hygienist for him. My son had an appointment last month in the Portland office and they cancelled it via text at 9 pm the night before. What is happening with Willamette Dental??? Are the computers not working, or is management just non-existent? read more

I've been coming here since 2020 and I'm seen every 4 months for a cleaning. All but my last 3 consecutive visits have been stellar. Everyone I talk to is always really nice, but something changed with how services are provided. It was previously noted on my chart that I have sensitivity issues so they would know to put a numbing agent before any scraping/cleaning is done. My hygienists in July and November did not see that note. I asked the one I saw in November to add it back on. In November I got a good aggressive scraping, swollen gums and bleeding, but no polish afterwards so that was disappointing. I made an appointment for a crown replacement which I went to this morning. Even though I was numbed their techniques were aggressive and more than uncomfortable. The mirror tool prying my mouth open to the side while digging into the back of my gums, the suction tube being pushed against and around my gumline where it was not numb, the picking tool poking my tongue, and the fear I had with how hard they were trying to break that crown off my tooth. I was so worried it would give way and the pick would go right through some part of my mouth. I saw a lot of blood going through that thicker suction tube. I also didn't like how I'm profusely drooling with an impression in my mouth and when it's taken out it gets all over my face, all over her gloves and she proceeds to keep working on my mouth, pressing her drool covered gloves on my cheeks without giving me something to wipe it all off. I felt like a baby getting fed for the first time. Someone kept coming in and asking if everything was going ok (which seemed like a concern on their end...she assured her it was, but it wasn't). After the temporary was put in for the third and final time because she couldn't floss the area and I'm being given instructions on how to floss and to keep up on it, she can't get the floss to go in between the back of the temporary and the tooth behind it, then tells me I'm done and lets me be on my way? At this point I still was not given anything to wipe my face with, I was told I could put my mask back on. This experience was awful for me. I normally have a more pleasant and gentle process. I'm not sure what to do here because I can't call the office direct. It's an 800 number and seems too impersonal. read more

I genuinely hate going to the dentist and have had several horrible experiences at dentists in the past which makes my anxiety around the situation so much worse. After two years of avoiding, I had no choice but to go in after my tooth broke. The dental assistant, Cheri, was beyond comforting and accommodating. She assured me that my comfort was top priority and the appointment was completely under my control, which I felt the entire time. She even stayed late after she was supposed to leave to ensure my comfort. Dr Finn was also super awesome in making sure I was okay through the process and letting me know exactly what he was doing. They both made me feel like I have a comfortable and safe place to go from now on. I can confidently recommend them, especially to people who particularly dislike going to the dentist! read more

I was treated like it is not big deal...get a cleaning...wait 5 weeks for an appt for the cleaning...still have the problem...come back in a month....still have the problem....i need biopsies....nope...just go to gp. I had read a lot of mixed review which did not help my anxiety level at all, but as soon as I walked in they were extremely friendly and understanding Ej did my cleaning and she did a great job! I was reluctant about going here based on the previous reviews. In desperate need of dental care, and prior lack of insurance, I didn't feel like I had much of a choice. I signed up a month ago or so and called last week to make my initial appointment. I was shocked when they asked if I could come in the next day! I scheduled my appointment for today and took my snaggle tooth with me. From my first interaction with the receptionist chickie to the XRay tech, dental hygienist, dentist and finally the business lady, I was SHOCKED by the level of service I received. These people are great! Nice personalities that know how to have some spunk (smart asses that can keep up with me) but still take care of business. We have a plan to tackle said Snaggle Tooth and I'm very happy to have them on my side. read more

It's like the budget airline of the dental world. They want to chug as many people through as possible per day, and they offer the minimum in services and attention. The dentists themselves are not bad (although mine didn't even look at my teeth at my last cleaning after I waited 20 minutes for her- wtf?) -- it's the army of 20 year-old, fresh-out-of-community-college hygienists you want to worry about. Seriously, some of these girls do not have the manual dexterity of a Subway sandwich artist. I wouldn't want them applying my mayo, let alone getting down with the stabby in my mouth. My last one also had the bad habit of leaving the vacuum hanging off my bottom lip while she scraped (for convenience?). If you could get hickeys on the inside of your mouth I would have had them. It was pretty uncomfortable. I've had good hygienists before at other dental practices, so I know they exist. I miss that nice, smooth feeling that you're supposed to get after a dental cleaning. read more

Been coming here for the past eight years and I have been happy with their services. They greet me when I arrive and answer my questions. Very friendly staff even my dentist, Dr English, always greets me with a smile and ask how I'm doing. Crazy though she remembers my last visit, six months ago, each time and recalls our conversation from vacation to family activities. Love this Dr for her care and dedication. Their customer service is also great. I call to setup an appointment without any issues. They even try to fit you in on a certain day and time you need. They also take the time to resolve any billing issues with insurance. If your calling on your cell be warned it will suck your minutes but Willamette Dental will resolve your issues or call you back. I had my teeth cleaned on 7/21/21. The staff is very friendly and personable. This was my second time having my teeth cleaned there. I requested Rhonda to clean them again, as last time was wonderful. Once again, it was the best experience I've had having my teeth cleaned. She has steady hands and didn't cause any pain AT ALL. I do not like visiting the dentist, as I had some very painful experiences as a child. They understand this and were very patient and kind. My wife and I have both been here, and both are now looking for alternatives (which is difficult since this was the only place covered by our insurance, thus the initial reason we chose it). On my first visit, I waited in the waiting room probably 20 mins before being taken back. I then got to wait in their little tiny discussion/conference room thing they take you too where you'll first talk with your doctor. I waited there at least another 20 minutes. As I recall, I waited 45 minutes before anything dental related happened. By the time they finished talking to me, then taking X-rays, and then doing the cleaning, we were into a good 2 hours. In all my years of going to a dentist, it's never once taken this long, even on a first time visit. I went back for another visit, and while it wasn't as long a wait, it was probably at least 30 minutes, possibly more before they did the work. My wife just visited them the other day, and hers was far worse (as if it could get worse). She waited over an hour and a half before seeing the doctor just for the consultation/discussion part! Then, they did X-rays and told her that it had taken too long, and she'd have to come back for her cleaning (this is around the 2 hour mark)! So, she was there for 2 hours, and all she got were X-rays. This means, now she'll have to go back for a cleaning and pay another co-pay (we will most certainly request this be waved or eaten by the dentist), not to mention essentially wasting 2 hours of a busy mom's time (and my time while I took off work to take care of the kids). I consider this inexcusable. Doctors run late fairly often, maybe one has to wait 15 minutes or some such, but to be in the office for 2+ hours and not even get done what you were there for (cleaning) is simply ridiculous. They made it worse by hardly even apologizing to her (she got one or two "sorry" statements, but said it felt like they were simply saying it and didn't mean anything, almost as if they felt it was no big deal. As for the actual dental service itself. I consider it completely average. Nothing special, nothing stands out. They probably did a competent job, but its hard to say. Also, maybe not all practices do this, but when they check the gum depth (or whatever its called), nobody wrote anything down, and they didn't record it as far as either of us could tell, whereas in the two previous dental offices we'd gone to, they wrote down every number and then compared that the next time we were in. Overall, incredibly poor, and I would absolutely suggest anyone considering Willamette Dental look elsewhere. read more

This is the first review I've done. I was very nervous picking a dentist because a bad dentist can ruin your mouth for life so I relied heavily on the reviews here. The address I was given wasn't listed on the website (it was given over the phone when I first made my appointment) and I was nervous it would be wrong given that they changed my appointment time (moved it up nearly a month! Very awesome) but I went and the facility was great. It's not the best dental office I've ever been but the staff was very friendly and nice the hygienist was good (again not the best but better than many I've had). It was clean and although it seemed like it was pretty new the staff was very capable and worked well together. I am so happy with my service and look forward to continuing here until my job takes me away! read more

Dr. Coombs is the doc who saw and examined my teeth in spring, 2018. Very professional, and thorough, and honest. He and his staff were kind, and very thorough in examining, cleaning, and explaining every detail of the condition of my teeth, and the continued care of them. Dr Coombs did not try to sell me anything I didn't need, and seemed sincere and caring, as did his staff. Recommend this place very highly! read more

I was surprised to walk in and find a Dentist office that didn't smell like what it is. Everyone was very nice, a bit to nice I think. I got in to see the Doctor, he went through everything with me including letting me know that once I have my upper partial ...even though I'm missing TWO teeth on the bottom that I will be chewing back to normal...I was delighted! After receiving the call that my partial was in, I went down to pick it up, it was fitted onto my gums, right off the bat I noticed that it was tottering on my gums when I tried to bite..keep in mine what the Doctor quoted me "even though I'm missing TWO teeth on the bottom that I will be chewing back to normal" was told by the same Dr. that because I was missing the two bottom left teeth my partial might/will move around....REALLY? I've had this now for over a month and still no able to wear this thing. Nothing will keep this thing in place. I chew on the right side and the left pops up, I chew on the left side and the right side pops up. Sounds like they are in this for the OHP payments and no really worrying about their patients I thought I found Dentist I was at ease seeing...boy was I wrong! read more

So far we haven't even been into the office and it's been a miserable experience. We booked our initial visit and had to wait 2 months to get in. They tried to move our appointment once with 1 hour notice. a week before our appointment they left us a message that our appointment had been cancelled and we have to reschedule. Frustrating. So we called to reschedule and the lady on the phone tells us ,in a snotty voice, that the reason that we have to wait yet another month to get in is because they are IMPROVING their service. Really?? So we reschedule our appointment and while my wife was asking which of us was at which time the lady hung up on my wife. So we had to call back and be put on hold yet again. My wife finally got a supervisor who basically said there was nothing she could do. "But you'll love us once you come in". Somehow I highly doubt it. read more

Dr. Sweet proceeded to fill in my tooth with silver amalgam instead of the white filling I'd requested 5 minutes beforehand, after learning about the harmful effects silver amalgam have on the human body. See: Mercury toxicity. So after informing myself about the dark side of dentistry, I was proud of myself for making a better decision towards my health and well being, until I find silver in my tooth after the appointment was over. Not only that but they also put sealants over 3 of my perfectly healthy teeth without cleaning them first! I hadn't even brushed my teeth prior to arrival and because there was no informed consent regarding what sealants even were or why I "needed" them I was given sealants and that was that. 6 months later I have what appears to be cavities growing beneath the sealants!!!!!!! After TONS of research I have come to find how sealants are a damn joke and do nothing but negative things for our teeth. That, and silver amalgams, which I'd requested before that I DIDN'T want. Dr. Sweet has a lot of nerve to proceed against my wishes and it's unacceptable and unexcusable. This is our TEETH we are talking about. You only get one shot and I'm disappointed beyond belief. Do not go here, and if you do, at the very least steer clear of Dr. Sweet!!! Also, that fluoride they put all over your teeth and in your toothpaste is a neurotoxin. Definitely looking into biological dentists from here on out! Oh, and I forgot to add that the entire time they were working on my teeth Dr. Sweet talked on and on about how her eyebrows were dyed too dark and how they looked weird. I have dentist anxiety, and when I explained my issues to my dentist they listened to me and took great care in making sure my experience wasn't a bad one. I hadn't been to a dentist in several years before coming here, and in one appointment they were able to make me feel at ease. The facility is nice and clean. I didn't have to wait a long time to make an appointment. I went early since it was my first appointment and was taken in before my actual appointment time. They were ready for me and both the assistant and hygienist, Juan and Melissa, were excellent. Melissa was friendly, explained what she was doing, and asked me several times if there was any discomfort. The time it took for the cleaning was longer than I was used to at my previous dentist, but I could tell they cared. I'm happy I went. read more

I have been using the Eugene clinic for over 10 years. Staff come and go but Dixie and Dr. English have always been there. Consistently providing excellent dental care and treatments. I have had numerous procedures, including the typical cavities and cleanings. Dr. English is spot on with restorations and pain management. I was a cash patient for over 8 years. They would quote me a price for the procedure, and only once did it exceed the quoted rate. I did have a nightmare at the Springfield clinic, so learned my lesson and stick to the Eugene Delta Oaks clinic. read more

Hello All, I have read and seen online all the horrer stories that people have come up with but I can tell you from my experience, unfortunatly a lot of them. Since I was a Child I hated to go to the dentist so as an adult I dreaded going. Williamette Dental group as a whole and the individual employees are fantastic, Danielle and Mia are funny and have a fantastic sense of humor Dr. Eggertson was a fantastic Dentist who I learned teaches fellow Dentist, He has moved up to a office near Portland. I have Dr. Tolmach now and I wouldn't trade her for any other. Dr. Tolmach has a fantastic sense of humor and they truly makes you feel wlcome and like they are there to help you get on the correct course to help you overall well being. Being someone that has had some serious issues in the past with my overall mouth Health most of which are my own fault, I can tell you that at no time have they ever made me feel like i should be ashamed or felt like they looked down on me, their only concern seem to be helping me get back on track and correcting the issues at hand and to look forward to a long term plan instead of being short sighted. On the issue of trying to get in I have not really experianced any issues Example I broke a tooth while eating and I was able to get in the next day at no extra cost. Speaking of cost I can tell you htat they really try to get as much done as they can as to not make you have to come back over and over. Unlike many health plans that have a low limit I can tell you that my current plan with them is extremely affordable and they is not a lot of additional cost unless you get into major issues and even then it is at a steep discount. I truly hope that you can read my post and get the feeling I am trying to get accross, which is I would HIGHLY recommend these group of Dentists so please give them a chance and I know that I will most lickly be reading your great post about them soon. 1 star for mediocre cleaning and bad dental advice, 1 extra for kind and respectful customer service folks. I was in for my a cleaning last spring and was painfully and extremely disappointed in the service. I did contact Willamette Dental customer service directly, received a response quickly, and they were working to correct my problem. However, I switched insurance to get to a better dentist before I could go back. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I hope that my return visit would've been better. I'm reviewing today because I finally saw my new dentist and was reminded how bad my previous cleaning (spring 2017) actually was. Below are the details from that bad experience: - The front of my upper and lower teeth were not polished - The fluoride was not painted around all of my teeth because "some people don't like having sticky lips for a few hours"- I much prefer healthy teeth and will happily have sticky lips -X-Rays were not taken, despite me being due for them -It was recommended that I return for a cleaning in a year, and vague research was cited as evidence that I did not need a six month cleaning when I asked why. Flash forward to now, I am the happy recipient of a much better cleaning from Advantage Dental. Unfortunately, I also have 5 cavities and potentially need 1 crown. I wonder how long those cavities have been there, and if they would've found them in my mouth or prevented them with X-rays a year ago and an effective cleaning a year ago and 6 months ago. Obviously, I can't say what would've happened had I been able to go to the dentist six months ago, but I strongly suggest that anyone who is a patient of Willamette Dental demand to be placed on a 6 month check up strategy and ask to see the research they cite in stating that 6 month cleanings aren't necessary. In fact, it would be really neat if someone from Willamette could post a link to the actual research study that states this-not a news article or other secondary source- I am still curious and it would help other people make more informed decisions about their dental care. read more

I have been trying to get a tooth fixed since June, I have been to the dentist twice and all they did were temporaries, when that failed one day later they refused to see me until 3 weeks later. This is after I tried to get some antibiotics, no call back. Tried to get an appointment with a specialist no call back. Tooth now hanging from the gum after the root canal pack has come out. Soo I have been unable to eat for almost 2 weeks and today I go to the appointment, but I am late because I have to dismiss my students and I am told they can't see me, I have to reschedule. This is after changing offices to see if the service would be better but it is still the same. If you want a dentist that only cares about billing your insurance then go with Willamette. Also, I tried the emergency dentist told him about my pain and the possibility of infection he refused me service. read more
