Overall, I appreciate everything about this office. When my husband and I moved from Portland to Eugene circa May 2024, 1 of the things important to me was to find a trustworthy Dentist that gave great care. I jumped into the internet and did a lot of research with different reviews and such, and I also reached out to friends in the industry and in the Lane County Area. Ultimately, my friend recommended Dr. Matlock, but just the recommendation alone was not enough for me, I still did my own Vetting. Approximately the first 20 years of my life, I was under my parents care and blindly followed their Dentist Choices, but for the last 20 years of my life I have been on my own for choices, and responsible for those decisions good or bad. So, I have my own set of questions that are important to me, and I asked the office on my first phone call and was happy with my answers. And, I have been extremely happy with the level of care I have received from Dr. Matlock and team in the last year. Every team member, from the people I greet when I step in the door, to Hygienists and other Dental Staff have been extremely professional, helpful and caring. I recently moved to the Eugene area and finding new everything can be a challenge. I started having pain in one of my older dental implants and after researching a bit, called Dr. Stephenson's office. The individual (sorry I didn't catch the name) was so kind and helpful! They worked me into the doctors schedule same day. I walked into the office and everyone was friendly and kind. They took x-rays and found the problem. Unfortunately Dr. Stephenson wasn't able to fix it but after a detailed, easy to understand explanation, he did refer me to an oral surgeon. His staff worked hard to get me into one as soon as possible. I will be returning to Dr. Stephenson's office for my regular card and will get my family in as well. read more

Don't come here, especially if you're a college student like me. First time I visited them they were nice and reasonable, but the second time they basically scammed me. On the phone they told me I was due for my teeth cleaning and that it would be less than $100, so I made an appointment. The cleaning was fine and the lady was nice. The catch is that I got charged an extra 70 bucks for an "exam" I didn't ask for, nor did they disclose with me. The "exam" was just the main doctor looking at my teeth for 30 seconds and saying "your teeth are straight! Good job." When I went to pay at the counter, my jaw literally dropped. I had to pay almost $200. Definitely some sort of a scam, and I will not be coming back here. read more

Bad office. I had one of the worst dental experiences there. They quoted me one price on the phone, made an injections and then informed me of the price they were going to charge me. Needless to say it was much more than expected. When I refused, their demenour immediately changed from barely acceptable to rude. They will try to scam you. Why this office has so many good reviews is a puzzle to me. I recommend to stay away from them. read more

I called Dr. Stephenson's office several months ago when my wife had an appointment at Aspen Dental and was treated badly. At Aspen, some equipment broke and they sent her home with the job uncompleted and with extra pain medication. When I called, Dr. Stephenson's office showed compassion and even tried to get my wife in that day. My wife decided against it because of the hassle of getting records moved. So she stayed at Aspen for another few months thinking this is what dentist offices are like. Finally, after another complaint I asked her, "Have you tried Dr. Stephenson's office yet?" and urged her to call. We couldn't be more happy. My family & I have been going to Dr. Stephenson for over 20 years. However, after what happened to me at his dental office last month, we will never go back. I was there for a routine teeth cleaning and X-rays. I had never met the hygienist before and I noticed that she wasn't wearing an N95 mask or face shield, just a somewhat flimsy-looking paper mask. When she put the bite wings into my mouth her face was just inches away from mine and I could feel her breath on my face! I got up the courage to ask her if she was vaccinated against COVID and she said NO! After my appointment I asked the woman at the front desk to have Dr. Stephenson call me. He phoned me the next day and when I told him of my serious safety concerns related to my appointment he said that he was aware that the hygienist was unvaccinated but that there was nothing he could do about it. When I suggested that he put her on leave, he said he would not do that because she was the only hygienist. When I suggested that his office notify patients beforehand that not all of their employees are vaccinated, he told me that would run afoul of privacy laws. When I asked why the hygienist wasn't wearing an N95 mask, he replied that he lets employees choose a mask they feel is most comfortable. I find Dr. Stephenson's blatant disregard for patient safety shocking and disturbing. I will never set foot in his office again. read more

Dr Stephenson is a seasoned, reliable, deeply kind and wonderful professional. I live part time in Oregon and part time in California. I was always accustomed to top rate dentists in California and I wasn't sure I could find a dentist of that caliber in Oregon. Dr. Stephenson is the best! He takes time, cares about his patients, counsels us on alternatives, actually cares about making sure what we do is the most cost efficient. His office is spotless, beautiful to boot, his entire staff are the nicest and most efficient ever! I saw a dentist for the first time in three years today. Dr. Stephenson's staff was friendly and welcoming when I arrived. I completed my paperwork and was promptly taken back for my exam and cleaning. The hygienist (I forgot her name, but she was so kind) told me a little about the practice and didn't make the conversation awkward. It was like she acknowledged that it was going to be a one way conversation, and was just trying to make me comfortable. When Dr. Stephenson came to check me out, he did a great job of explaining what was going on with my teeth and gave me suggestions on how to correct it. The best part, I was never lectured about my lack of attendance to any dentist over thr past 3 years or anything else. I was just provided education, so that i can make the best decision for me. I went for a 6th month checkup. Found I needed my 5 year full mouth exrays. I thought no problem. It really wasn't and it was fun to watch your teeth, roots and all show up on the screen. The check-up went fine and cleaning was thorough and mostly gentle. Flossing (is not my fortay), so that tends to ream out the demons who exist . Finding a cavity under my bridge was unfortunate, but what can you say. One more hurdle to cross over, except in this case it's a bridge.
