We stumbled into this place looking for something to eat on a Friday night. For a small place, the locals kept coming in and grabbing their food for takeout so you know it's a solid location. The pork bbq was great, big sandwich! I took a picture before slathering it in their delicious bbq sauce - they had mild, hot and Carolina vinegar style sauce. The sauce was so good we bought some to go. Also, the half tea half lemonade was amazinggg, we got two more cups of those to go too. So glad we found this place. read more

A super late review! Willey's Road Stove is located right on the boardwalk by the beach, where they have a walk-up window. They offer NC BBQ pork, ribs, BBQ chicken, and various homemade sides, like coleslaw, BBQ beans, potato salad, and macaroni salad. Unfortunately, they were not serving any ribs when we went, so we ordered the following for a late lunch instead: +the NC BBQ Pork - request all three of the sauces: NC vinegar, mild, and hot! +BBQ beans +macaroni salad +potato salad +coleslaw +hush puppies +1/2 and 1/2 tea and lemonade The pulled pork was super juicy and tasty, and each of the sauces complimented the pork very well. I visited Willey's over the weekend after spending the day at Colonial Beach. I attempted to order steamed shrimp but was informed they were they were out. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries instead. I was then told that there were no fries. I agreed. I approach the window about 10-15 minutes later to inquire about my order. I saw 3 orders of food sitting with the lids open and flies sitting on top of the food. I then witness another customer order his food. He ordered fries without a problem. I politely asked this much older woman if fries were available because I was told that they were not. She immediately got defensive and said "no! Those shouldn't have even been sold!". I suggested for her to change the menu to reflect available items. She began to yell at me as if I were not a paying customer. she had the nerve to say "I'm not going to argue with you!" As if she were too good to have a conversation with me. I kindly asked for a refund because this is no way to treat anyone. The decrepit woman then proceeds to yell "give her a refund!" I chose to go to this establishment despite it being dingy and dusty because there weren't many options. I guess they must be doing so well that they need my money. I honestly feel this was racially motivated and would not recommend Willey's at Colonial Beach to anyone. As long as this old hag is behind the counter and on the grill they will never succeed. read more

This is the quintessential Mom & Pop operation. The food is amazing. The pulled pork with mild sauce is my absolute favorite. The homemade Macaroni Salad is second to none. Pit beef and burgers are wonderful too. Their Ribs are lip-smacking good but MUST be ordered 24 hours in advance. They are no longer on the boardwalk, they are in a food truck by Halls Supermarket. However, I heard they will be moving much closer to the boardwalk and will be back in a building soon. With very little to choose from in CB, Willey's has become a go-to for us! My son loves the pulled pork (great price too) and the Willey's burger is delish. My husband is a fan of the cheesesteak. As a North Carolinian, I am a hard sell when it comes to bbq. I have to admit that this was the BEST bbq I have had hands down here or at home (Sorry, NC!) We had the nc bbq sandwich with slaw, hush puppies, baked beans, and peach cobbler. There was not a single complaint about a thing we tasted. In fact, we were saddened that we didn't grab more. The bbq was moist and tender without any sauce. (I ALWAYS add hot sauce). The hushpuppies were crisp but fluffy inside. (The melted butter was a plus) The peach cobbler was just right as well and the baked beans had brisket in it which was perfect. I can't wait to get back to Colonial Beach to try this place again. The window is walk-up on the beach, and it does take a while to get your food, but boy is it worth it. A must try when in the area.
