Do you know that this BBQ joint "Ain't nothing but the truth?" This was my first time and definitively won't be the last. I ordered the Ribs with two sides, collard greens and cabbage. I stopped in for lunch on a weekday... As soon as I walked in I could smell the smoke and was happy! The lady working the front counter was very friendly and helpful and answered my many questions nicely, as I wasn't sure what I wanted and what they were really known for. I opted for a brisket plate with baked beans and potato salad. The food took about 5 mins or so to be prepared, which was perfectly fine. Opening the clamshell container, I was happy with the bark and smoke ring on the brisket, but it did look a little dry and when I tasted it, it definitely needed the BBQ sauce that came with it. Regarding the sauce, it was their spicy sauce and it had a slight kick to it, but was more sweet than spicy. The flavor of the brisket was decent, not as smokey as I would have hoped. Regarding the sides - The baked beans had what looked like pork belly in in, but I didn't taste any smoke from the meat in the beans. The beans were also the small, lighter colored beans. The overall flavor was decent. Regarding the potato salad, I typically don't like pickle in my potato salad (or ANY salad), but I really liked the overall flavor of this potato salad, as well as the consistency! Overall, it was decent, I would definitely return, just try something different next time to see how they do other types of meats and sides. read more

Here in good old Stafford, I happen to try this place out while nearby on a work trip. In an unassuming strip mall sits this gem of a bbq place. Plenty of parking, the staff was having a full on conversation with a few customers who I'm sure were regulars...this is the place. Service was quick and friendly, I picked up smoked ribs with beans and coleslaw. The ribs were pretty damn great. Didn't even need sauce. I used some of the original sauce and although it added to the taste I ate my lunch without it. The beans and coleslaw were added benefits as if I was at a party or relatives were cooking something out back. Definitely coming back when I'm back in the area. I suggest if your looking for an adventure and in the DMV area, stop by. read more

The red beans and rice tasted like somebody got grandma's recipe and ran with it. The collard greens with turkey garnish were flavored just right without being salty. When it comes to BBQ I really seem to find a place that has good meat and taste. Most times it's overdone. This place is not. The service is kind but urgency is not there. So don't go there in short order. But don't let that keep you from ordering. The place is not meant to seat a lot of folks. You can but take it to go. Ordered the meat platter. This place is a hidden gem. I went for my first visit today & glad I did. When I walked in, the atmosphere was very homely and family oriented. Everyone was nice and the cashier was really patient with me. I got the baby back ribs meal with mac & cheese, fried cabbage, a cornbread muffin and peach cobbler. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture because the food was so good that I couldn't think about taking a picture. Every part of my order was a 10. There was not one part that I felt was anything less. I have no idea who is in the kitchen or whose recipes the meal is from but it's on point. I will definitely be visiting again! read more

I went in looking for reasons to complain. 4 tables with tables cloths, nothing to write home about, and music I want to ask them to cut off . The menu is OLD. Like, vintage old. I recommend looking at the menu online and knowing what you want before going in. It took me a minute to find what was what on the menu and piece together what I wanted. By this time, I'd did an awesome job of making myself not like this place. Rib meal, Collard Greens, and...is the Mac baked? Yeah it's baked. Ok, and some baked Mac. Roll or corn bread. Corn Bread! I have greens. I was going to eat in my car but I had a Massage in 20 minutes so I decided to eat there and throw away what I didn't finish. Bam! He handed me my tray.....it was lil heavy umkay. Ribs......Bangin! Tender but got bite and "Smoke Pit Taste Certified." I can't go back to Mission BBQ or Famous Dave's....after some "Big Bad."Like, Pit BBQ just messed up my Go to's. Nothing like walking in to a friendly atmosphere with laughter and smiles. And the best part is the food is good. Their ribs satisfied the taste I was feeling on a busy Friday Labor Day weekend. BIG Bad W Pit BBQ is the real deal. I have ordered from them several times for my office. Each and every time it's a home run. The employees are always satisfied with the quality, presentation and taste. For me, it's all of that, but what makes it really, really special is the customer service and the character of everyone I have dealt with at this establishment. It is worth the drive from Andrews AFB to Stafford for a personal meal. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. (I'm not going to say the best BBQ - they would have some stiff competition in Kansas, but for Virginia - hands down the best.) * Baked Beans - Amazing. So much flavor and spice. * Pulled Pork - Forget about it. Awesome. * Brisket - My absolute favorite. * Cornbread - What is going on? They put Green Bell Pepper in this. What kind of Alchemy is this place doing? * Chili - both with and without meat are my favorite of any chili ever. The last time I went in, I didn't see it on the menu, but they still made us some. I was fortunate enough to dine at this special gem of a restaurant with my family thanks to its stellar reviews on Yelp and Google. It more than lived up to our lofty expectations and is now our new go-to place to grab a bite at en route to VA Beach. The food is soooo good. The baby back pork ribs were smoky, tender, and well-seasoned. Paired with a little of their habenero sauce, the result was a perfect balance of sweet, heat, and savory flavors. We and the kids also loved the pulled pork, baked beans, mac and cheese, and fries. The kids spotted green peppers swimming in the baked bean liquid after their first couple of bites. Surprisingly, they continued eating them despite having told us in the past that they hate like green peppers. Don't forget to get a slice of their lemon cake for dessert - it stands shoulder-to-shoulder with their BBQ. The service/kindness is next-level. Big Bad W put out easter eggs for the kids and had lovely, fresh flowers on every table. Tevin was so friendly, kind, and generous - he put a smile on all our faces. With each bite, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. There were four of us sitting together- and honestly, the only things that were said was how delicious each bite was! This little mom & pop BBQ place is FIRE!! If you're anywhere in the area...or even in Fredericksburg- you need to stop here and get some real deal soul food. No joke. I was shopping at Walmart in Front Royal and was heading home from the parking lot and I spotted the little trailer. I don't care for BBQ but my husband loves it so I'm thinking sweet, I don't have to make dinner and we can watch the Playoff 49er game! I got brisket and baby back ribs. My husband was so happy and then his tasted everything.....WOW! So unbelievably great! So I try and about fell on the floor. Why didn't I get more? I had no idea it would be this damn good!! Down to the Hab BBQ sauce! The brisket is literally falling apart and not kidding melted in your mouth. The lady at the window was so sweet. My daughter left her phone in Walmart so we were a little stressed while ordering. I love these guys! I have to find out when they will be back in Front Royal!
