When I'm in the mood for bbq I usually head to Randy's. It's not an everyday food due to their prices but more of a treat. The food doesn't generally take too long to come out. When it's nice outside they have several picnic tables to sit at and eat. The pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw is my favorite. They give a nice portion of meat on the sandwich. They have a good bbq sauce that goes well on it. The minced beef was not my cup of tea so I wouldn't order it again. The ribs are just ok. They use St. Louis style and precut them by the bone for you. It's a toss up when you get fall off the bone or rip off with your teeth. Most often it's tough and have to tear into it. They had baby back one time and I really enjoyed that. I think that should be the staple instead. I tried the catfish one time and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Definitely want to try it as a sandwich at some point. The fries are not cheap but the large is a lot of fries. I think their baked beans are the best in the area. The Mac and cheese is okay and did not care for the collard greens. Overall not a bad place and definitely better than most in the area. Still only go for a treat but I do come back. read more

This place was a big no for me. We visited for a late lunch on a Monday. There was plenty of parking and no line. We ordered the ribs and chicken combo with collard greens and macaroni and cheese, and the rib tips with a side of cornbread. We were pretty shocked and disappointed to see a bbq place selling prepackaged cornbread, and weren't aware that's what it was until after we got home and opened everything to eat. The Mac and cheese side was good, and I think the collard greens were ok, it just would have been better if they were cut up a little more manageable and didn't have so many stems. As for the meat....all of it was terrible! It was completed smothered in their bbq sauce and did not have a good flavor to it. After eating, my husband and I both got sick. We did also ordered one of the packaged Nightingale ice cream sandwiches, which was our favorite thing of the entire meal. Not a place we will go back to again. read more

Now THIS is the quintessential BBQ stand! You can see the smoke and smell the meat from a mile up the road. I was meandering making customer calls, and the smoke & scent drew me in. They have all the usual fare. I ordered a 1/2 slab of ribs with mac & cheese and collard greens. they must have a dozen southern grandmas working back there. Best collards I've ever had. The ribs had perfect flavor and pull off the bone. Certainly got my money's worth - that 1/2 slab cover lunch and a dinner later. If you're passing by on 5, Stop! I am 100% for small town BBQ. It's in my BLOOD. I'm from NC and LOVE BBQ! This restaurant "feels" like what happens when there is a disconnect from the kitchen to the consumer. Sadly, this same sentiment must have gotten into their customer service staff, too. The young lady who answered the phone sounded like she had absolutely zero time to speak with me and definitely didn't want to be on the phone. I'll chalk it up to a bad evening she may have been having (but still unpleasant). The young man who helped me (sort of) couldn't hear me ask the young lady for extra sauce and rudely asked "what does she want?"... Not the kind of environment, as an employee, that I would want any part of. Customer service is imperative and can make or break your reputation. First impressions are truly valuable. Just think....after this review, I'll probably never spend nearly $100 here ever again. On to the review... This location is super quick! It has no inside seating, only an outdoor/walk up window. The large smokers out back prove the food is authentic and cooked in house. The portion sizes were shareable sizes. Two people could share one plate. For $70, we got two plates and an appetizer. Far too pricy, IMO, but I chose not to ask prices when I called. (However the girl was rude, and I felt uneasy asking, I'd already made up my mind). I THOUGHT I was getting 2 $20 plates and a $8 fries dish, for $48....but...somehow....this was twice that price. Make that make sense. Both plates came with a store bought bun (underwhelming). We got these plates because they weren't sandwiches. By the time we got home the buns were both soggy. (We live less than 8 miles away). The meat had almost married the bun and you had to peel the goopy bread off the meat. There wasn't really a warning that the BBQ was Hot (spicy). I have a hard time with spice so knowing this in advance would've helped. Perhaps I missed it on the menu. We both got Carolina BBQ. I am from NC and if you've ever heard of Bridges BBQ (either of them, they are both great)....then YOU know BBQ.... This bbq was not Carolina BBQ, but was perhaps a spin on it. I admit, the "seasoning" was sort of tasty, if it wasn't so hot, but...having had my fair share of BBQ, this just wasn't it for me. The meat felt dry. Even though it was sopping wet, the meat was overcooked and hard to chew. The green beans were in a huge puddle which also spilled on to my bread, assisting in the sogginess. They were very very salty. Almost inedible. Underneath the salt, they definitely could've been tasty! The Mac and cheese was the best thing that I tasted from 'my' plate. Bland, but not too "this or that" in any direction. It was yellow sauce and noodles. As for the Cole slaw - also very wet, like soup, but was relatively tasty. Again not much flavor. The baked beans tasted straight out of a can, so either, yay for being spot on, or boo for using a can. Either way, the beans were the best thing we had. Our "bacon cheese fries" tasted flat, too. The picture speaks for itself. Poor execution. Fries were cold and limp. Cheese was obviously nacho+ (flavorless) bag cheese, broiled, with a couple chunks of extremely salty bacon, carelessly thrown on top. If you come here often , maybe there are better menu items here and I just haven't had them, but we thought we picked classics that are hard to get wrong. I've seen other reviews that say the meat was over done and too spicy...perhaps this is a nudge to add a hint on the menu or perhaps back off the spice and let your customer choose their heat level. If the above suggestions could be tweaked, this place would be worth the $70, but $35 is the most this was worth, as the meat we got wasn't worth whatever its being charged as. However, I probably won't go back anytime soon. I'm of the opinion that "fool me once, fool me twice", it's probably best that I don't. Which is extremely unfortunate. My family does BBQ dinners every time they come up and I was hoping to brag about our new local place. But, not a soul in my family of 25-30 people would or could stomach this meal, nor would they have liked it either. We've been eating BBQ from all over TN and the Carolina's. This just wasn't it. I'll keep checking the reviews though! I reallllly hope to be able to come back someday when I've seen the reviews improve. I really *feeeeeel* like this place could genuinely be incredible. The food it's authentic and you will not starve! It's worth a wait in line to be able to get things like fresh greens cooked as most barbecues don't offer this outside. I've bought my share of greens & barbecue beans when they're available for my church dinners. The first time I visited, they forgot the coleslaw with my order. When I called, I was told to bring the food back -- which I did two days later due to my schedule. The food was just okay, not great, and definitely not worth the hassle. Fast forward to now: I stopped by again simply because I didn't feel like cooking. I ordered a North Carolina pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, and a side of collard greens. When I got home, not only was the coleslaw missing from the sandwich again, but the greens were terrible -- bland, as if they had just been steamed in water with zero seasoning. The pork was dry and underwhelming, and their "North Carolina" style barbecue sauce was just vinegar with no depth or flavor. My family is from NC, and this isn't even close. I called the shop, and the man who answered refused to identify himself or confirm whether he was the manager. Instead of listening to my concerns, he got defensive and accused me of "talking down" to him. I explained that missing items and poor quality food meant wasting my time -- something he seemed to have no empathy for. He repeatedly asked, "Well, what do you want me to do?" as though it wasn't obvious the order should be corrected or refunded. Two days later, I returned with the food. The staff claimed no one from the previous night was there. One particularly rude young man with a nose ring told me I must be "miserable" and slammed the window in my face. After initially trying to give me a partial refund, they only refunded the full amount after I insisted and showed the uneaten food. All in all, this was a terrible experience. Just a shack on the side of the road but I love their bbq. I've gotten the North Carolina pulled pork three times now and it's always been good. I also like their green beans and baked beans which have pork in them for added flavor. You can call ahead or order at the window and wait. The staff are friendly and helpful. just now New Dinner | $50-100 Wanted to surprise my sweetheart, with pit beef, and a couple of sides. Which was coleslaw & green beans Which both sides said they were homemade, which was a lie. The green beans were out of a can and cooked with smoked turkey. Homemade would've used real green beans and maybe seasoned them with smoked turkey. First problem. I asked the dude at the window numerous questions about the french fries and the onion rings. Were they homemade or were they frozen? He answered the questions. He assured me that the green beans were homemade, which was a lie. I have no idea if the coleslaw was homemade Good I asked the dude for my receipt because I didn't receive it because I wanted to see what I paid for over $50. I left healthy tip. A dude at the window said don't bother. I'm almost finished packing your order. I asked if I wanted the sauce mixed in or not. I said no I want it on the side. I explained I only eat my protein without sauce. And he added, admittedly, told me when I called about the mistake of OF GETTING PULLED PORK!! He basically called me a liar! I've been going to Randy's ribs since I was a teenager. Unacceptable! People check your order before you leave Randy's Ribs. The hubby and I don't live close, but he golfs nearby sometimes, so we like to indulge when that occurs. I had an itch this past weekend (on 12/13/2020) and my honey and Randy's came through with the scratch. Now, since this is a treat, the hubby and I order like a family of five. We got a full slab of ribs, pulled pork sandwich, catfish sandwich and five sides (some came with what we ordered). I'll say it loud and say it proud - WE LIKE TO EAT! All of the food is delicious. The ribs are so tender and meaty and especially flavorful when dipped in their barbecue sauce. The catfish sandwich (our first time trying it) was seasoned to perfection. The Mac and cheese is good, but it's processed and not the best, but still good. I HIGHLY recommend this spot. Whose the pit master at this joint? Hello, and can I touch your angelic hands?! Quality of food. Purchased the rib tips dinner today just to get home and throw it away. I did not drive far at all and therefore the rib tips should have still been warm, and on top of that, I found string like material in part of my food. Randy's is definitely a hidden gem. The food is amazing. I loved the barbecue chicken breast and the pulled chicken sandwich. To my knowledge they even sell breakfast food. This is probably the best barbecue sandwich. I've had in southern Maryland. It's cooked just perfectly. It's really good with a little slaw on top of it. The buns not bad at all. We ordered corn bread this time. It was a little disappointing. I wouldn't order it again, but I definitely would go back for that barbecue sandwich because it's pretty amazing. The food is great but the policies are just not. I placed a 50 order, gave a 25% tip and when my order was ready I asked if I could buy an iced tea. I was told that I needed to place a minimum 10 dollar order. But I just placed and am picking up a 50 dollar order and gave you enough for 5 ice teas, can I just have an iced tea, I'll even add ANOTHER 25% tip on top of that... no sir, sorry sir. Today I took my daughter and her friend along with my neighbor here for lunch. We all felt the food was decent, but the overall experience not so much. I asked for a ginger ale which they sell bottled. I asked for a cup of ice as it was a pretty hot day and the only place to sit is outside. I was told a cup of ice is $2.00. Disturbing. They only offer outdoor picnic table seating with no overhead covering, however; we were to hungry to seek another dining experience. When I requested a paper receipt I was told they only email receipts which means you must provide an email. I didn't want all that for some food but I had no choice as that's they only way I thought I could review my bill. I get home and find you only receive a receipt for the total. Wasn't worth the wait, happen to be driving by and smelled the smoke, so turned around to check this place out for linch today. Being a BBQ guy myself, with wood and pellet coolers. I was very disappointed. The pulled pork seemed to be reheated but still cold, no flavor, and tasted more like left over rib meat. The 1/2 rack of ribs I was given very dry, no flavor, and pour quality rib. Nothing was trimmed, They didn't remove the membrane on the back or the Sternum. $50 later, found myself throwing it away! Randy's has some of the best portion sizes I have seen for a BBQ restaurant and the price is just right. I had the rib sandwich and grabbed a pulled pork sandwich while I was at it and holy smokes was it filling. Could barely finish that whole ordeal based on portion sizes.
