Dr. Britton and his staff are nothing less than professional and very friendly. I had a broken tooth and I was able to get an appointment first thing. The problem was taken care of and Dr. Britton even printed out a in order schedule of things I needed done next and broke down the cost and my insurance coverage. I went to see Dr. Britton yesterday. I had not been to the dentist in some time and I couldn't have been happier to select Dr. Britton. My mouth has not felt this good in years and all I had done was a cleaning. I'm big on the customer experience and everyone there made it really easy on me. The front end staff helped me check in with ease. Charmaine first helped me and answered some of my initial questions. Then Br. Britton took the time to go over everything one tooth at a time. He really takes him time to explain what is needed now and what may be needed down the future. You can tell that he cares about his patients because he takes the time to explain the preventative steps I can take today to avoid any problems down the road. After that I had a tooth cleaning with Mary. She was amazing, since I hadn't been to the dentist for a while she took extra time clean my teeth. She is really accurate at her job and I didn't experience any discomfort at all. All in all I am very confident in my decision to choose Dr. Britton and will be letting all of my friends and co- workers know about my experience as well. Thank you everyone. read more

Truly as good as it gets. Going to the dentist is something I don't love and I had actually been avoiding the experience entirely for a few years when I finally found the need to come in for an initial exam and cleaning. Even though I hadn't been to any dentist for nearly four-years, the dental hygienist made me feel comfortable and treated me like a human being. She knew when she was getting towards the sensitive areas and would ease up or switch her focus to a different area when she noticed any discomfort. This truly was the deepest cleaning I have ever experienced, and believe it or not, it was also the most pleasant. One of the tools she used I had never seen before in a dentist office and it gave me the impression that doctor Britton did not hold back any expense when he setup his practice. It made the cleaning so much more pleasant rather than scraping the entire time. Once I did meet with Dr. Britton to have some catch up work completed he was glad to take the time to meet with me and outline his plan of action. This made me feel comfortable that he was knowledgeable not only of his profession but also what my needs are as his client. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and amazing experience I had at Dr. Britton's office. Even though it is about a 30 minute drive from my home, I will be making this my main dental practice for years to come. My only hope is that they grow and expand into and office in Carlsbad! I've been a patient in this dental office for over 15 years with the original dentist, Dr. Hopper. Dr. Hopper was approaching a phased retirement and brought on Dr. Britton to slowly take over his practice. I didn't know how it worked when Dr. Britton came on board. I just knew that Dr. Hopper's schedule was limited so on a few occasions I've seen Dr. Britton and also my two kids saw Dr. Britton. My impression of him wasn't great. He wasn't friendly and I felt that he pushed services on me and my kids that made me not trust him. My kids also did not prefer to see him. My mom who also got some fillings done by Dr. Britton mentioned that his work was not good. Although I didn't feel a genuineness from him that I did with Dr. Hopper, I kept pushing those feelings aside and made excuses (maybe to make myself believe it) thinking that if Dr. Hopper picked him, he must be ok. Well, now I can really say that Dr. Hopper chose poorly on this one. Noticeably, the staff and hygienists starting quitting one by one. These were staff that had been working in this office for 15-30 years. They also assured us in the beginning that nothing would change and all the staff would remain. So I found this very telling that there was a mass exodus. Even new staff who were hired by Dr. Britton did not stay long. Then Dr. Hopper who was supposed to be working for 5 more years on a part-time basis decided to fully retire. The customer service also went downhill fast. I was stopped after a filling to pay for the service on the spot. I told them that I have never been asked to pay for anything until the insurance pays their portion. She told me that it has changed and pressured me to even do a partial payment. I insisted that I'm not comfortable paying anything until I know what the insurance covered. She finally told me that Dr. Britton makes her do this. Good thing I insisted to wait because I ended up getting a huge bill from the dental office to pay over $2K from my own pocket, which I knew was incorrect based on the estimate that the insurance gave me. For over a month, I picked apart each service and was dealing with Terry, the office manager that Dr. Britton hired. It was obvious she did not know what she was doing, but insisted that Delta Dental changed their coverage and didn't compensate them as much as they thought. I told her I was NEVER charged out of pocket for routine cleaning before so something is clearly wrong. She also tried to tell me that if I had gone with Dr. Britton for some of those services, I would have had a lower out-of-pocket amount. No thanks! It turned out after a lot of time wasted on my part that Terry billed the insurance incorrectly. They ended up crediting me and I only owe a little over $700. I could have totally footed an additional $1300 in bills from them if I didn't do my due diligence. While dealing with these bills, I was always the one who had to call and pursue the status. Terry never called back when she said she would. When I would call her, she was always busy because "Rose quit and now I'm covering the front office." Also, I had to ask 3X to get an account statement. It's so draining. Just now, I finally am done clearing everything up and she tried to schedule me in for my next cleaning. I told her that I prefer to go to another dentist and asked for my dental records to be mailed to me. I asked her when that would happen and she very curtly said "I'll get to it next week sometime." All I have to say for those patients that currently have Dr. Britton is that I would get second opinions on dental work and I would also go through my bill with a fine tooth comb! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Recommendation- don't go here. Dr. Britton is very friendly and capable (and I would recommend him if he was at a different practice), but he is not running the show. They have outside management that is absolutely horrendous. They care so much about up selling product and services (that patients may or may not need) because of their pending "financial situation" that they don't care about treating their staff or patients respectfully. They can buy all the flat screen tvs and massage chairs they want to try to keep patients, but its not going to work for me. Do what you can to stay away from this establishment. There are so many other great dentists in San Diego! Don't go for the advice or products they recommend, they can't be trusted! read more

This dentist purchased the practice of my long time dentist, Dr. Hopper. When you are used to a certain level of expertise and service that Dr. Hopper offered, it's extremely hard to make a switch, especially when the quality, expertise and customer service falls really short! If you notice the awards that are posted on this page, the top dentist awards were for Dr. Hopper. Before Dr. Hopper left, I was trying to get my last filling scheduled with him because I didn't really get a good vibe with the new dentist (Dr. Britton). I insisted on scheduling it with Dr. Hopper, but the front desk was really trying to push me to go with Dr. Britton and said that he charges less. After politely refusing, they still kept pressuring me to Dr. Britton and he was standing a few feet away. It's totally unprofessional. They also did this with the hygienist. They wanted to move me to the new hygienist that was hired instead of my old one that's been servicing my teeth for 10 years. I know for a fact that a lot of long timers have left this office because they were not happy with the new dentist and the new staff. I spoke with many of them as some are close friends and one of them works at my kid's school. It's such a bummer to have to search for another dentist that you can trust. read more

Had to go to Dr. Britton today as one of my old 20+ year crowns came off. I called this morning and they were very accommodating in getting me fit in around their already scheduled patients. He explained my options to me and we chose to go with having a new crown done. I'm not the easiest patient and have a strong gag reflex and a wandering tongue. Not great for a dentist to work around. He and his assistant Daisy were great in dealing with this. Very patient in their process. I have my regular cleanings done at this office as well as other dental work. I always feel welcome and they do a great job. I would highly recommend Dr. Britton and his staff for any dental work you might need. read more

However, because of a particularly difficult tooth and his devotion to patient care, he generously referred me to Dr Britton. This cosmetic tooth of mine was a real challenge and Dr Britton worked with me until I was completely satisfied. If you are looking to be treated like a calf getting branded in an assembly line...THIS IS NOT THE PLACE!!!!!! The staff made me feel special and important from the moment I walked in. The hygienist was very sweet and took her time with me. I didn't feel like she was hurrying up to fill some quota! Doctor Britton is a stud dentist. He is sharp, honest, and truly cares about the patient in his chair. After visiting his office the rest of my family came for a visit. I have a two-year old and she keeps asking to go back...weird right? That just shows how fun he made the experience for her, which makes my life a lot easier for the next time she has to see the dentist. I finally found the time to make it in for my own appt with Dr. Britton. I got to go to the new office and it's so much more convenient and easily accessible for us so that was a wonderful surprise! The new office staff was super nice and I love that they do everything online if you prefer. I love the email appt confirmation! I first saw the hygienist Irena and she gave me the most thorough and gentle cleaning I have ever had in 34 years of my life. I will definitely be requesting her in the future. I also saw Dr. Britton whom I already love as a dentist since he took such great care of our daughter. He was super nice and unfortunately I needed some work done but I felt well informed about it and I loved that he went over some preventative care with me. If you hate going to the dentist as I do I would highly recommend this entire office. I still don't love the dentist(sorry DR. I've been with the Dr Hopper/Britton for the past 15+ years. I went in for a basic cleaning and Dr. Britton came in and said I need to get a mouth guard due to my clenching. In addition I needed some fillings replaced from 10 years ago. No problems, no issue. I went to the front office and asked how much I am going to have to come out of pocket and the front desk agent confirmed it is covered 100% (cleaning and dental work through my insurance). Before I left that day I asked to get it doubled check and was told I was 100% covered and I am good to go. Nothing out of pocket! I just have to pay for my mouth guard (not covered by insurance) and I am covered. Totally cool with that. Of course 3 weeks go by and I pick up my mouth guard and go to check out and was told I owe an additional $512. Dumbfounded I asked the front desk agent and Teri the front office manager what was going on and their response was "Your insurance company gave us the wrong information." So I called my insurance company and spending a week going back and forth hours on the phone with the insurance and dentist office it came to conclusion that Dr. BRITTON office used a non verified 3 party document that is not approved by my insurance. I have the recording saved on my voicemail from my insurance company. I played this in front of Teri (manager) and her response was that's false and incorrect. Everyone was playing the finger pointing game. You can imagine me as the customer not knowing who to believe in. I then brought up the fact I was told I was covered 100% by Dr. Britton's staff and Teri said not wasn't their fault due to the information they used to quote me. C'MON MAN! If Dr. Britton's office is going to offer filling your insurance claim for free then you better make sure you know what the hell your doing. My mistake was trusting the dentist office that they would file my insurance correctly and give me 100% accurate information. All I was looking for was someone to take accountability. A mistake was made and I am paying for it? No way! The reason why I am writing this is because Teri did try and work with me and give me half of the refund, but I had to raise hell for over a week. Then she had the audacity to say I should go back to my employer and tell them I need to get better insurance!? WHAT!? I will NEVER go back to this dentist office because of the lack of professionalism, lack of trust and I don't feel comfortable going to this dentist after 15 + years!!! Can't believe it. It's a shame what happened to this place after Dr. Hopper was basically kicked out. Please remember: DO NOT AGREE TO ANY WORK BEING DONE UNTIL YOU CALL YOUR INSURANCE YOURSELF. I would hate for anyone to have to go through the same BS I went through. I DO NOT recommend this dentist and highly advise to go somewhere else. read more
