I went for a basic lean meat sandwich and their regular order of smoked meat poutine, to share with someone else. The sandwich came out first, and the smoked meat was thinly sliced thickly stacked, lean, and flavorful with a then smear of yellow mustard on one slice of bread (was any other mustard available?) and a pickle spear. And then the poutine came. "Objects in the picture are larger than they appear." Who had any idea that a "regular" poutine would be super-sized, more than enough for 2? (Well, other satisfied customers, of course). As far as the poutine goes, I'm not sure how it compares with what you get at the poutineries downtown, but it was certainly satisfying, and the meat even more so.

I was blown away by all the meat, the prepared goods. Burger counter. Some seating. Freezer choices. Some dried goods, bread. I got away with Chorizo, some lean ground beef and some beautiful olive oil. Is this place cheap? No! But, I pay for quality without batting an eye. Especially foodie stuff. Next round was a Tuesday aft. Ahhh. Better. I could see everything, not so packed. It was just after a long weekend so some things were sold out but I grabbed more lean beef, a chicken parm portion, a beef Jamaican patty and a stuffed potato. All were good! The chicken portion from the fresh cabinet was $11.50! More than my lb of ground beef! But it was a filling piece and fed me x 2. I love this place.

It's a little Polish grocery store with a deli, in the same strip mall as a Cosmo Prof, Solea and Cypress Garden. Their cold cuts are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. I love the dried kabanosy here - quite easily the best in the city (however, as of late they have been a little more fatty than usual, hopefully they will revert back to using more lean meats). The kielbasa here is delicious, very garlicky and meaty (second only to the now defunct European Meat Market in Kensington Market in Toronto). They also have desserts here. They have a rich and creamy cheesecake and some delicious meringues (brought in from Montreal). They also have the poppy seed roll found in most Polish delis. I haven't tried it, but it looks good. Reasonable prices on the polish grocery items. I love the Vegeta multipurpose seasoning. They even have the one without MSG! If you love kabanosy and/or kielbasa you have to try the ones here!
