AMC Theatres... the largest movie chain in the world. The Ridgefield location isn't anything close to being a luxury theatre. It's a bit dingy and outdated. But if you can look past that, you'll have a decently comfortable movie experience. PROS: -not as expensive as other locations -25% off tickets before 4pm daily -reserved seating that can be booked online -not as crowded (I avoid the AMC at GSP for this reason) -reclining seats -good amount of leg room -has all the latest movies with variety of showtimes -large screens with quality sound system CONS: -lack of sanitation and cleanliness in the theaters, bathrooms, and concession areas -they don't have as many screening options like Dolby Cinema and Laser Projection -some seats are worn down and/or recliners do not work -parking in the garage can be difficult to find and the layout is confusing -no dine-in options, but offers the basics (popcorn, nachos, icees, hot dogs, pizza, candy, etc.) The facility needs major updates. The staff needs to be more mindful of cleaning and maintenance. There's a bunch of FILTH underneath the theatre seats. On my most recent visit a few weeks ago, there wasn't an employee present to scan and check tickets/payment, so people could just enter as they please. This AMC has free parking in a parking structure. It has black cushioned seating with recline. It's a bit down and dirty. I had mysterious bug bites during my movie. Four bug bites in total. The seats smelled like BO. The bathrooms are old and not really maintained. The water would splash out from the toilet after flushing! I wouldn't trust the cleanliness of this place. So if you come here make sure to quarantine yourself after. read more

I was in town visiting family and came by this theater. Back when I lived in the area it was "new". Since then it's aged quite a bit. The seats were comfortable since they do recline. The concessions did close halfway through movie so that wasn't convenient. In the end it was still enjoyable. read more

They need to fix up a bit and make sure things are running properly in order to provide excellent customer experience and attract customer, otherwise this place might close down soon as it was running like a ghost town... Okay I went there to see the Super Mario movie. First off there is plenty of parking so no need to worry about that. Second it's Very clean! Service was nice. AMC has some bundle deals for those who want popcorn and drink. The seats were very comfortable and they recline as well. Although be aware the men's room is currently out of order. There aren't that many games out in the Lobby area though. But overall it was decent. I would go here cause it was not crowded! Thanks for reading I'll catch you on the next bite! read more

Came to AMC Ridgefield for the 1st time and wow, plenty of free parking in a parking lot across the street (multiple levels). Just remember where you park so that you can find your car afterwards. Wow, this theater is spacious the minute you walk in...concessions downstairs and upstairs. Reclining seats in every theater and the most spacious wide seats in any AMC theater that I've sat in....yes, I measured it (22" of space). Kudos for that!! Clean theater and good sound quality. This theater is a fan favorite when the AMC at Riverside Drive is sold out or the times aren't working for us. It's pretty close by with decent parking and is usually pretty empty. The theater itself is a little run down and outdated but because of the reclining seats it's always a contender. The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well. AMC theatre is my preferred movie theatre chain because of their rewards program and movie snack selections. I particularly enjoyed this AMC Ridgefield Park location because it was usually well maintained and less foot traffic (since it's not connected to a mall or shopping center). Recently, the Maintenence of this theatre has plummeted. Theatres rooms are not kept up with, seats are dirty and severely damaged, and staff seemed bothered to serve loyal customers. I came today to watch "The Naked Gun" and typically order their delicious gourmet popcorn and a soda to snack on during the movie. I was attended by a new employee (who was very polite and sweet) who informed me that I couldn't have cheddar popcorn because that station was already closed for the night. I ordered at 9:40pm for a 10pm movie.... I asked really? She went to ask another team member with more experience who also said no to the request. I asked for a manager and just purchased my $7.77 large soda. When the manager came, I explained the situation and he apologized and offered me a free cheddar popcorn which I respectfully declined. I was not looking for a freebie. I was hoping to express my commitment to a franchise that is losing its loyal customers because of carelessness. Unfortunately, I do not plan to return to this location. I rather drive further out in hopes of better care for the theatergoer experience. I'm sure Many Reviews for this location will begin to lean in this direction. If you are going to close portions of your concessions early, consider putting signage and not leaving what is being desired in pure eyesight to the customers who would like to enjoy it. This movie theater is my favorite for two reasons: 1) ticket prices are probably the cheapest in the area, and 2) it has showings of Korean movies. However, I am holding off on five stars because the theater does tend to be bare bones, examples being multiple clogged sinks in the women's restroom and recliner seats, albeit comfortable, having the seat covers misaligned due to wear and tear. Still, you can't beat paying around $10 + tax for matinee tickets so I will continue to be a customer of this AMC. read more

I drove an hour from West Milford to enjoy wicked with my mother and sister. Something we planned over a week ahead for... Only to arrive wait 30 minutes for no one to tell us anything was wrong. Have my mother go ask, to find out the projector is broken give them 10 minutes They're working on it. Have somebody come out 15 mins later to say they're still working on it and we could go to another theater if we wanted to. To have my mother go out and ask again 10 mins later and them to say the movie is not gonna happen because it would go over run time for the next time slot. I am so angry and disheartened. This used to be one of the best places around they've really let it fall apart. And no one ever came back in to announce it wasn't going to play! Zero stars and a waste of gas. My go-to movie theatre as it is close to me. Ample parking in a covered lot, and a nice location. It could be cleaner including the bathrooms. One time I went the movie didn't even start with sound so I had to find customer service to ask them to play the sound it took a half hour to get someone'. A bit of a disaster. I'm an AMC A-Lister so I go to the movies a lot. We decided to go to Ridgefield Park to see Spider-Man because the 3 seats I reserved looked to have a good amount of space between us and the people in front of us and Covid. I loved that part. The theater is pretty basic. Seats look old. The material is peeling on a lot of them. They do recline so that's a plus. I bought tickets for 3 seats in a row of 4. Only 2 of the 4 seats worked. My sister had to sit up the entire movie. My sister found multiple strands of hair in her popcorn. I've never had this issue at any other theater. The tickets were cheaper then my usual spots. I doubt I return here. It's a little out the way and it was nothing special about it. read more

The workers are kind, the recliners are comfortable, and the food is great. Here are my complaints: 1. There is no security to ensure movie goers are safe. Today a strange man came into the theater I was in, and closed both doors on the opposite side of the theater. We were the only two in there. So I ran out to the front desk, alerting the employees of what happened. Two minutes later he came out the theater and approached me. He left, came back, then approached a female employee. He freaked me out and the two female employees! There was no security in sight. So I sat in the front until more movie goers came in. That's how afraid I was to be alone in that theater alone with him. They. Need. Security. 2. There is no reason why this theater shouldn't have heat during 25-35 degree temps. I went today February 11th, and it was so cold in the theater that I put my gloves on and covered my face with my scarf. When watching a movie, I should be able to concentrate on the film. This theater is in very bad disrepair, and desperately needs renovation to update the small outdated screens, and the broken seats. UPDATE: This visit was for the 25th anniversary rerelease of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and was in auditorium 7. I was not able to sit in the seat I reserved because it was broken. Despite there being more broken seats than functional ones you're still able to reserve the broken seats and then not find out they're broken until you get into the theater, so if you're going with more than one person you can't even sit together. The large lights directly above the screen were also not shut off until 15 minutes into the movie, and this was only after someone got up to complain about them. It's a real shame with how bad AMC has let this place become. It was once a very nice Theater when it was a Loews and even when Sony took it over it was still pretty well kept. Today it's a very run down, understaffed, and barely functional theater. AMC has really dropped the ball for this location especially when compared to the Clifton or Garden State Plaza locations, even the Teaneck theater is in better condition. read more

This theater wasn't the best experience for me. Parking is just odd. You have to park in the office building parking across the street which is confusing since they do not have their own lot. The staff was ok, I wasn't really greeted or anything but that's alright. Everything went south when I stepped on any part of the floor that wasn't carpeted. It's understandable for the floor by the soda machines to be a little sticky but this was beyond. The sound from everyone's shoes was just ridiculous. The stickiness carried all the way to the bathroom!!! This place has not been cleaned in a VERY long time. Every inch of the bathroom floor was sticky. It was honestly gross and unsanitary. The theater itself was really just ok. Compared to the theater I'm used to, this was nothing. Everything is the same level, the chairs are scratched and with patches missing everywhere. This is a nice, clean AMC two-story theatre with reserved-seating and 12 screens: 6 screens on the 1st floor + 6 screens on the 2nd floor. Excellent ticket prices, especially early screenings before 3pm. Very comfortable leather recliner seats, and extra-wide aisles so people can walk easily through the aisles when seats are fully reclined. I've seen two feature films over the past week, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning (opening week) and Oppenheimer (opening day). Although both screenings were sold-out, neither the theatre nor the lobby felt crowded. The concession stand does get slammed. It was definitely busy on both days of summer blockbuster screenings. But the theatre also has a unique feature of concession pre-orders via the AMC app to avoid the crowds. Pre-order pickups are also separate from the crowd & conveniently located on the quiet backside of the concessions stand. Despite all the positives, I did downgrade my rating by 1-point for the $1 "sightline" surcharge. For the Mission Impossible screening, I paid a $1 surcharge for a "sightline" upgrade for reserved seats in the middle of the theatre. Seriously AMC, that's pretty nickel & dime. Get rid of this nonsensical sightline fee & I'd happily upgrade this to the 5-star rating this theatre deserves. One final tip, the $15 AMC Stubz Premiere is absolutely worth getting if you plan on going to any AMC theatre twice in a calendar year bc the AMC convenience fee of $6.50 per purchase is waived, and you automatically get size upgrades on concessions (ie, regular drink upgrades to large; regular popcorn upgrades to large). Over the summer, AMC is also crediting $5 for any new/renewed Stubz Premiere membership. Your Stubz rewards points also accumulate 5x faster than the free Stubz membership. read more

I'm go here often and am usually happy with it. But today I went to see the new Alien movie and the trailers were really, really dark, and the screen overall was darker on one edge. Even the bright green and red "Previews" screens were not green nor red. I asked them twice during the trailers to see if they could brighten it, but they either couldn't or wouldn't. I visited this location on a Friday night, delightfully surprised to see it wasn't a madhouse. The parking area is located in a garage, which is currently under construction, so it was a bit of a pain to navigate. The theatre is monstrous and they're currently leaving spaces in between seats to ensure distancing. Sadly, the bathroom was a filthy mess and it's due to the customers, so I can't fault them too much. It was easy to order snacks at the concession stand, especially since there was no line. They also have all of their candy put away, so you have to order it from a list that is provided. The movie theatre itself was very clean and comfortable with the reclining chairs, the sound quality was excellent for the film. This location also offers cheaper tickets than at the mall, so it's a slight incentive to visit here. read more

First time coming to this location for the first showing on a weekend. Was surprised how inexpensive the movie ticket was ($5.4) compared to those in NYC. There was a pretty big multi-floor garage next to the theatre. Lobby was spacious and had high ceiling. Our theatre, number 12, was located on the second floor. It was small with only three rows of chairs plus the handicapped seats in the fourth row. Loved the reclining seats which were pretty big and comfortable. Restrooms were a bit outdated but clean. It didn't seem to have Dolby theater but location was quite convenient. Wouldn't mind to come back again. read more

This place used to be awesome. It's long past it's prime unfortunately. The only reason I go here is the cheap tickets. The food court runs out of things all the time it seems. You're basically just getting popcorn and a drink. It's also kinda dirty. Popcorn on the floor and wrappers on counters. The bathroom floors are always sticky. In the theater the seats are wide and comfy but sometimes you'll get one that doesn't recline or is ripped. It's a shame this place went downhill. Used to be packed and they had a lot of arcades. I actually like this AMC for a several reasons - The location is in the middle of nowhere near a corporate park so there's generally less people here which is nice - The price is cheaper than other AMCs and it's a really good deal given that you pay for recliner seats - I never had any issues with the sound/screen or any general AV issues - Legroom is fairly spacious, it's a pretty relaxing environment But there's also room for improvement because: - The decor of the lobby, concessions etc .. yuck. It's pretty nasty - The entire place feels way dirtier than it should be ... because it is! - The carpets are especially gross/disgusting. Don't wear sandals in here. - The bathrooms are vile. I remember the last time I was there there was a flooded area that nobody bothered to clean up for hours. - The lobby area felt kind of moist .. adding to the yuckiness factor - It gets busy AF on a weekend evening and on several occasions the drink machines actually ran out of coke/etc. Nobody bothered to address the issue for some time, resulting in long ass lines and pissed off people However, generally speaking if we're talking about the actual movie and value experience this place meets the mark. If they can clean this place up or give the lobby area a much needed facelift then it would be even better. read more

AMC Ridgefield Park 12 is my go to movie theater. This location has two parking options, one is a flat parking area and the other is a tiered parking garage. It's smack dab in the middle of a corporate park so it tends not to be too busy. If you didn't grow up in the area you probably wouldn't know about it. Oddly enough it's roughly $3 cheaper then other AMCs in the area and on Tuesday they offer tickets for $5! Prices are reasonable and love the reclining chairs in the theater. I also like how you can reserve your seats ahead of time. Great location and although the parking is a little odd, there are plenty of spaces. As for the actual facilities, I think its a little outdated. First off the only reason I am giving this place two stars is because of the precautions that staff and workers are taking because of COVID-19. There are hand sanitizer wipes and stations all over the theater. As well as , social distancing stickers on the auditorium theaters and outside of them , and also workers all wearing mask. My problem comes from the customer service. When first walking in ordered my tickets online and went directly to the entrance of the theaters. The man checked our ticket and was extremely rude. He spoke in a low voice and didn't greet us, I had to ask him multiple time what he was saying after asking he finally spoke loud enough so I can hear. The concession stand was maybe even worse, the two men working there were not helpful. This was my first time going to this theater so I didn't know where the soda machine was. He placed my cup on the container and took the next guest without even telling us where it was. Not to mention the HORRIBLE STALE POPCORN. In the theater there was a huge fly buzzing and flying all over our auditorium while watching the movie. The seats were broken up and parts of the fabric were ripping as we were seating. ONLY GOOD THING, was the movie itself and the slushee. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS THEATER for your first time back to the movies since covid. read more
