The YMCA is more than a gym, they also provide information relevant to many members. This Lunch and Learn was about creating a budget and sticking to it. The value I think many of us gained through this class was the info we shared with each other. One thing was a pharmacy company, Cost Plus Drugs, which is on line. My friend has a drug she takes which is $78 a month here it would be around $12; quite a savings! We really loved being members of the YMCA. They offer so much more than just a gym. Williams Family YMCA does have a nice gym, but they also have a basketball court, swimming pool, daycare, and nutritionist on site to just name a few. But it is just too expensive; we were members through my old employer's discount ($88 a month), but when I left my job we decided we didn't want to spend over $120 a month for a membership. So we joined one of those cheaper corporate gyms which is a lot cheaper; maybe just not as good. read more

I have never been so satisfied with a gym in my gym joining life. For a reasonable price, we are able to bring the whole family, with daycare included. The group exercise classes are also part of the membership, from water aerobics to Bodypump to spin to Zumba. Instructors are encouraging as well as motivating. Our daughter has been able to participate in Taekwondo, volleyball, STEM camp, and learn how to swim, all for a discounted price due to our membership. She's also old enough now that she can work out in the cardio room while we're there, making for a convenient work out partner. Being able to have her be a part of the gym is something that she wasn't able to do at other bigger known chains. The facility is a little old but well kept. Most of the employees are pleasant and helpful. The hours may not be 24 but are convenient to my schedule. It's a gym that anyone can go to without feeling self-conscious or inadequate. read more

I feel a little bit odd writing a review of the Williams YMCA, because I've been going here since I was a kid! I still remember the original entrance before the building was expanded. That little hill with the tiny parking area and the double doors? Yep, that used to be all there was. Thankfully, the First Coast YMCA added to the building years ago. There's a great gym with basketball courts, a dedicated cardio area, three group exercise rooms, and the rest of the upstairs area is dedicated to weights. There is also a swimming pool outside and a LOT of tennis courts. My husband and I love tennis, and the courts here are typically pretty nice. They're clay courts, well maintained, and we usually don't have any issues with reserving a space since there are so many. The other big perk of the YMCA in general is Kidzone. My kids LOVE going to the Y because they have so much fun! Other branches have it too, but the Kidzone staff at Williams tends to be my favorite. There are two separate rooms for big kids and little kids, which I like, as well as an outdoor playground they take them out to play on. They also have taken the kids outside to run or do other fitness fun, which I love. As this is an older facility, it isn't as fancy as, say, the Winston YMCA. But it's still very nice, it's clean, the staff is helpful and friendly, we love the child care option, and they have tennis! We're always happy to go here and I highly recommend it. read more

This Y Location is perfectly centered in Manadrin. They offer several specialized programs such as tennis. As it may not be one of the largest of the First Coast YMCA it is one of the most caring. It has two floors and a great place for the kiddos. It is nestled in the woods and close to 295 for easy access. read more

You honestly can't go wrong with any Y. This one is one of the best. Their facility is very nice. If you enjoy tennis they have about a dozen courts in a nice shaded area. The weight room is top notch and not full of 400 meatheads. Only negative has to be is that it is a bit pricey. I pay almost $90 for myself and the privilege of using their daycare for my daughter. Now that is quite a nice feature but even without the daycare it is expensive. Is it worth it? Yes. read more

Nice facilities, friendly staff but I have to give 1 star for my recent terrible experience as a volunteer coach. If you have kids and are thinking about putting them in youth sports I would look for another option, especially when it comes to the Williams Family YMCA. Its so sad to me as I have been a huge fan of the Y my whole life. I volunteered to coach a U17 bball team who had no coach just days before the season was to begin. I was given a roster of 6 kids, one of them was 13 and was in the wrong age group. The first game I had a kid foul out and had to play with 4. I reached out to the sports director who did not respond. It turned out that, that person stepped down. The interim sports director informed me that I could add some kids to the roster and that due to all the issues with how poorly the league was organized those kids fees would be covered. All they would have to do would be to have their parents sign waivers. Those three kids did sign waivers and I handed them to the font desk myself. For some reason over the course of the season, the interim sports director, the executive director, and the 3rd and final sports director all kept asking me about these kids and why they weren't on the original roster. I explained them the answer, told them their names for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times and assured them they had signed the waivers and I turned them in myself. These kids played all season long and as we enter into our semi-final playoff game my team is informed at the tip off that we will forfeit the game because we have 3 ineligible players that have not signed waivers. Not only is that untrue, here is the real Kicker, THEY STILL LET THEM PLAY THE GAME!!! They said you guys can go ahead and play but it wont count and you cant play in the championship game tomorrow! Can you believe that?! It is absolutely ridiculous how they handled the situation and down right idiotic. There were so many different ways they could have handled the situation and could have made it right. I practically begged the executive director to just at least call the other coach and see if he would even be willing to give us a rematch and he wasnt willing to do it. He also told me that this was "about the kids". The YMCA lost our waivers and not once through 5 different staff members, or 3 different sports directors did they communicate this. Not once did they ask me to have my players sign new waivers, if so I would have done it. It was quite easy in the first place! They were unwilling to admit their mistake and own up to the consequences and decided to make my guys suffer instead. "About the kids" they said. The executive director even told me "I'm probably making the wrong decision here." It was so bad that they offered my team a refund. I told them you are offering the wrong team a refund. Communicate your mistake to the other team, ask them for a rematch, and if they are unwilling then you give them a refund. But no. It's really sad. And you deserve to know. I would not put my kids in this YMCA sports program until they get things back on track. Very very sad. read more

I am basing my review on the swimming classes. My children took swimming classes there this past summer and needless to say, I DO NOT recommend. YMCA may be great for many class & activates, but swimming lessons at is not one of them. My 5 & 7 year old were in a Saturday morning swim class together with nine other children and only ONE instructor. Since the class was only 45 minutes, each child got approximately 4 minutes of individualized swim lessons. The other 40 minutes they just spent sitting on the wall. The course lasted for six weeks. I enrolled my kids in three courses that summer (so they had a swim lesson every Saturday for three months). At the end of the three months not only did were their swimming skills not improved, but they regressed in the skills they had learned previously. Waist of time and money. read more

Nice facility, I use workout room, take yoga and play pickleball. Pickleball area should have tinted windows so you don't see all the people looking in, kind of distracting. Otherwise fun place to work out, meet interesting people and keep in touch with friends and neighbors! The pickleball people even has an organized "happy hour" events a couple of times a year! read more

I was surprised that when i cancelled my membership that i was required to give thirty day notice, that is i pay a month "extra" beyond what i need. Thats not fair. If i cancel that means i am not coming back and should not have to pay for thirty extra days. read more

I have been coming to this YMCA for years! I came when I was a child and my parents were members. I also played soccer here and loved it! I am now a member and enrolled my son in Soccer and I am so excited! This location offers so many things for families! From Wee Chefs to Tae Kwon Do. Of course you get a great discount for these programs when you are a member. I must also mention I have been going to the Body Pump Fitness class and it is no joke! Everyone here is friendly and greets you when you walk in the door with a smile. Their kid zone is absolutely amazing! They do a pre school type of program in the mornings during the week. In the evenings they have an awesome kids room for older children and a nursery for the 3 and under kids. They have a finger print scanner so that only you can pick up your kids! The rooms are beautiful and my son absolutely loves coming here! He wants to go all the time! It new and inviting. This Y has everything to offer! I love it here and am so happy to be a member. Also they have tennis courts, swimming pool and basketball courts. Seriously if you have children the Y is great for families! read more

I'm only giving this one because there is no zero star rating. I told my 6 year old child all last year that he could play soccer this fall. I went and found what I could and ended up at this location to register him a few months ago. We are just here for law school so I opted out of paying as a member and we paid $120 for this season. I called them two days ago and asked when practices start because I knew they should have already. The lady on the phone was very nice but informed me that my child has already missed a few weeks of the season and that the coach should have contacted us. She even confirmed his team and what coach he had. My husband has contacted him for two days now and left messages and texts. He will not respond and I'm sure my young child will miss out on yet another fun weekend of soccer. I'm just livid that anyone would do a small child this way. Never again and I WILL be getting my money back and my child will be playing anyway I promise you that. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. And also, I answer my phone and check it constantly. I have no missed messages of any kind or calls that I haven't called back. read more

There aren't enough great things I can say about this gym. Actually for ANY of the YMCAs in Jacksonville. I have been coming to the Williams YMCA since I was a little baby. The staff is always extremely friendly and always make you feel at home. A few people I want to praise there. For starters, a man named Mark who works there. I am not sure his position there but he cleans the equipment and the basketball gym. He has the sweetest heart and is always wanting to know if your doing ok and having a wonderful day so far. He's always waving and just brings so much joy to my life. The second employee is a young girl named SKYLAR. When I go up there, she's either behind the desk or hitting it hard in the gym. Whenever I work out and she's working out, we always talk and discuss workout tips and routines. She's beautiful and friendly, and you just cant beat both those qualities. Third is a personal trainer there, LARRY. I usually see him at night and he's just such a great guy. The workout classes are great, the staff is wonderful, I mean everything about them is amazing.
