A man was recording me for perverted reasons clearly for over 10 minutes. I proceeded to tell the staff and showed them proof, they said they would remove him. I waited 20 minutes and he was not removed. I looked over to see him recording me again the moment he saw me, as I was bending down to hide from him. I will never come back to this place because he should ve been removed immediately no questions after the proof. This is beyond disappointing and I had to leave before he did making me feel so unsafe. I'm a very small freshly 18 yo girl wearing a Disney shirt with an adolescent face. He was recording me for disgusting reasons and this man has 1000% recorded other women. He was far too comfortable doing this for so long. They said they would remove him then 20 min later proceeded to tell me they needed the owners permission to get a creepy man recording young women. There should be already regulations and approval to remove anyone who does this. This place knew a man was recording me and didn't do anything about it. This restaurant being next to a college full of young girls should always be allowed to remove a creep. I've been here a few times and find them a bit slow when you order something and they have to bring it to the table, even for a drink. The staff is friendly each time I do come. Coffee is okay. The caramel latte is very tasty. There is a lot of seating here and usually quite a number of students and their laptops. read more

Came here to study and ordered drink and food. After around 2 hours the manager started being really passive aggressive by pacing around our table over and over and picking up our dishes aggressively (we ordered food and drinks multiple times over our stay). After about 3 hours, we noticed the wifi had been turned off, it seems like he turned it off in an attempt to get us to leave. Shortly after he singled us out and asked "How long have you been here? You can't stay here forever." It didn't seem like he had a problem with any other tables for some reason, possibly because our table was two young female students. Food and drinks were okay but this place is supposed to be a Café... didn't expect to get kicked out for studying in one. read more

The staff here are super nice. The line can be a little long (you order, they give you a sign with a number, and then they bring out your food to you), but that's okay since the menu is so long and takes a bit of time to read anyway. I had the BLT&A (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado) sandwich and a pumpkin spice latte. The BLT&A was good, but the latte was absolute pumpkin perfection. I was quite disappointed. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but I figured if it was really fresh and tasty it would be OK. Unfortunately, though the food looked very appealing, I got the feeling that it all (salmon rice bowl) had been put into one container and all cooked together. The salmon was dry and tasteless, the rice was still crunchy. The supposed tzatziki sauce for my bowl was just like water and had about as much taste - it also had no cucumber. And what is it with this town and avocado? Every time but one that it's been part of my meal it's been crunchy too. I long for nice squashy ripe avocado and it's never what I get. The cheesecake and the iced tea were good. The service can't really be evaluated as I think it was the server/cashier's first day, but it did give me some chuckles. I'm sure he'll learn. read more

This cozy place is perfect for studying, albeit, outlets are a rare commodity (3-4 across the cafe). The food is delicious, albeit, on the pricey side for what you get ($8-$14 for meals). Typically great. Staff are generally friendly. There're usually students working all along the back walls every day due to there only being outlets in that location and the proximity to McMaster University. However, today the manager isolated just me out of a cohort of at least 20 other students working here and told me "this is a restaurant, not a library. How long are you planning to stay here?" despite me ordering drinks throughout my stay. This is the first time this has occurred and it really angered me as I was isolated for no apparent reason. If it's a no-laptop zone, then specify it and enforce it unilaterally. I got the sesame tuna roll and the house salad. Both were very tasty. The tuna as canned, which was a big disappointing, but the vegetables were quite fresh and there was a lot of flavor in the wrap. The salad had a nice balsamic dressing and was standard, but good. read more

This is the last time I come to Williams. Last time I was there I grabbed breakfast and coffee and sat at a booth for a couple of hours. The so called manager about one hour into my stay cleared my coffee without asking if I was finished with it (which I wasn't) without saying a word. 15 minutes later he came back only to reprimand me for sitting at a booth alone and told me to sit at the communal back table. I looked around and saw 2 other people sitting alone at a booth with their laptops and knew he hadn't asked them to move - one of them had been there before I even arrived at Williams. There were also a few open tables for new customers. This rude manager targeted me only to satisfy some disgusting power trip he obviously needed to get through his miserable day. Needless to say I am never coming back to this piece of SH*T establishment ever again. read more

Came here with my friend to study as it was publicized as a good study spot and ordered a sandwich and some drinks. Food was overpriced however I thought it would be worth if I could stay there to study. About two hours in, the manager starts taking out dishes in a rude manner and hinted at us to leave. He then singled us out and said "How long have you guys been here for. You can't stay here forever" in a rude tone even though there were many other students who were working there for a while as well. Prior to this, the wifi stopped working and I noticed it was a frequent thing during the afternoon in his attempt to get students to leave. I have been to multiple cafe's and they all provide great service and wifi and are meant to be good study spaces. If the manager didn't want students to study there, he shouldn't have opened a cafe. read more

** I just wanted to say that this is no longer called Williams Coffee Pub. It has been renamed to Williams Fresh Cafe. They serve soups, sandwiches, salads, paninis, etc. Lets just say that I love this establishment. I live in the Bay Area (California), and I've been coming to Hamilton to visit relatives since I was about five years old. I have fond memories as a little girl of eating here, staring out the window, and sharing a breakfast bagel with my dad. Now, much older, I still always want to come back to this restaurant and eat bagel sandwiches, which makes me feel carefree and young, just like a how I was as a little girl. And boy was it good. It's just the right size, and even comes with lettuce and tomato. Everyone else at the table thoroughly enjoyed their food. I also tasted my mom's gourmet mac and cheese, which was very yummy and creamy. My father also couldn't help but taste it too. One thing I noted the last time I came is how nice, caring, and patient the staff are. My little Chinese grandma, whose English is not perfect, had many questions and took quite a while deciding what she wanted. The man at the register, who had glasses, a beard, and light red hair, was exceedingly patient. He also showed her a deal which would save her some money, even though he probably knew that would lead to even more questions. (Which it did.) Even though there are no reviews, there are actually lots of people in the restaurant. When I went for lunch, more than half of the tables were occupied. I came here today & I ordered a rice bowl with hard boiled egg and a scone. The scone was rock hard, like a stale biscotti. There was also zero effort put into the bowl. It was plain white rice with tomato, edamame, (microwaved) butternut squash & garbanzo beans with a hard boiled egg. There was no dressing, I couldn't even finish it because of how boring it was. I come to Williams a few times a few times a week either sitting down to study, or take out. The food has always been great and same with the servers, they have started to get to know me more since Ive become a regular and they are always helpful and welcoming. In the past week Ive come 4 times to study in the morning for a few hours, I order some breakfast and coffee and I get to work, about half way through I get another coffee or cold drink. Every day the man who I thought was the manager but I found out today is actually the owner has approached me and other STUDENTS who are sitting in a booth studying by themselves and asked us to move to a small table. I understand that it is busy and he is trying to open up the booths for larger groups but he asks extremely rudely and brushes of any response you have to his comment to move. I would be happy to move and even as quick as possible if he we would ask me nicely and politely. The worst part is he has no respect to us students trying to concentrate and study, he has never asked someone over the age of 25 to move. The man across from me looked around 25-30 and was sitting there on his phone with a coffee and the owner decided to ask me who is surrounded by textbooks none of the table in sight and a plate of food eyes glued on my computer typing away instead of the man sitting on his phone with just a coffee. This has happened for the past 4 days. I asked one of the servers what position the very rude man has in this establishment and before he even responded to my question he first asked "Did he ask you to leave or move" I was shocked when he said that the man was the owner, and that clearly it is an on going issue if the server knew what issue I probably was going to bring up. I work in the food and beverage industry so it is shocking to witness an owner who has no respect towards customer service towards anyone under 25. Williams is a great place with great food, servers, and drinks but if you plan to sit at a booth just make sure your with other people or over 25 to avoid having the owner talk to you in an extremely unprofessional manner. read more

I was there on Saturday, June 16 at around 4:00 PM and I asked the girl working at the counter, if their handmade smoothie was made from fresh fruits (pineapple, banana and mango) she said yes. I paid more than $6 for this, it tasted like - mix of different types of sorbet. When I asked for my money back, they waived the tiniest bag of frozen fruits in my face which was very unprofessional, trying to convince me that they had used real fruit. Anyways, it doesn't make it handmade or like she stated, made "fresh" if you put a slice of frozen fruit but 90% of it was made from sorbet or frozen ice cream of some sort, all I tasted was sugar. The least I asked for was my Money back, which they didn't give me so I left the juice on the counter and had to leave the store, very upset. When a customer is not satisfied you give their money back, specially if you are not being honest about the way a drink is made. I asked specifically for health reasons so thank you so much... I will ensure no one in my close circle of family and friends goes back to this place ever again because of their horrible customer service, not giving my money back and being lied to in my face in front of other customees. read more
