Not sure why this store is so underrated!? Every time I walk into here I find what need. The staff is always helpful in pointing you to the correct location in the store. This place is jammed packed with stuff. From newer product to older stuff to make it work! However as per every hardware store you're going to pay for it.. but I will say I would rather spend my money in a family owned store than the big box stores anyway! Had a great experience with this store. I have been painting my garage and was halfway through when I needed to buy some more paint. Unfortunately, the store I bought it from was all out of it. So I called stores in multiple counties that sold that brand of paint but they were all out of it and said they were unable to order it. Finally I reached this store and they couldn't have been more accommodating. They offered to order the paint, and then they offered to mix the paint so that it would be ready when I arrived to pick it up. As luck would have it, I was stuck in traffic and unable to get to the store before the closing time. Nevertheless, they offered to wait for me and open the store to provide me with exceptional service. read more

Went in to buy a hand truck and the price posted on the wall was $76 rang up as $99. I went and brought them the sign from the wall and the guys standing behind the registers say well I guess it went up. Maybe instead of just standing around they should be on the sales floor correcting bogus prices. We will never shop here again. They also will not honor Ace gift caresources even though there are Ace signs throughout the store. We will never shop there again. read more

I found my first conversation with their lumber department to be very informative and helpful. They seemed to understand what I needed despite my own ignorance and worked with me to put a special order in. So, I'm not sure what the other reviews about bad customer service related to in that regard. I actually walked out thinking, I'm never going to the box stores again. However, we did have some miscommunications about pricing and delivery dates following the initial conversation. Still, they worked with me to try and rectify the situation. As a result, I look forward to supporting this Hudson Valley regional business in the future. read more

Just went in for some paint to repaint my boyfriends room, neither him or i have ever bought paint before but regardless of that we were looking at samples for about 10 minutes comparing different colors (if that doesn't tell you we are most likely about to be paying customers) At about the same exact time we found a color we liked, an older guy from the back counter came over asking if we needed anything, to which we replied yes we need 3 cans of paint in this color (showed him the color) he stared at us not speaking. then with a rude attitude asked us again what we needed, at this point i was about to walk out because he know exactly what we needed he was just being rude because we didn't know you had to pick a finish to the paint. after we told him the finish and that we were okay with the price is when he started treating us like normal customers. not that it matters because it shouldn't but my boyfriend and i look younger than we are, so im assuming this older man didn't think we had the money or intentions to buy anything based on our looks but regardless we deserve to get treated like any other customer and we won't be returning ever again. two younger guys at the front counter were nice read more

The house is just never really finished...always more to do! My latest project involved replacing my front porch...a small porch but a project just the same. Choices...what to do? Concrete? Pressure treated? Trex? So I contacted my friend, a realtor who advised me to proceed with Trex for a fresh look. OK...my contractor took me to Williams Lumber to see some samples, get a brochure...and talk to them about planning. They were so helpful, even though this was not a $50000 project. My selection, not in stock, arrived 3 days later just as stated. The cost was no more than 2 other box stores that were not so helpful when I was looking there. Williams also has a fabulous array of nuts, bolts, screws and such and when my honey found out...he trekked right over there and made some really good purchases for some items he had only been able to buy online. So the porch is almost done...the Trex looks great! Thanks Williams Lumber!!! read more

I love the store, two complaints. 1) the lumber counter has a nasty guy. He looks like the fat cop from the old Bugs bunny cartoons. Never nice. 2) the female counter person. Another nasty unpleasant person. I don't know if these two are related but man oh man! If I owned this hardware store these two would be canned ASAP read more

Williams Lumber sent me a sale brochure. I went in one day after the sale started. They said the sale hadn't started yet. I showed them the date on their ad. Since they are an Ace Hardware they said it was an Ace ad and an Ace problem. I showed them their name and address on the ad. I showed them the sale date on the ad. Store manager Mike said no. Customer Service is not helpful. Had to wait in line for Customer service for 20 min just to fill my propane tank! Unbelievable!!

I totally agree with the review preceding mine . The customer service in this store is deplorable. I needed some assistance at the lumber counter. The employee working this counter was so unpleasant to deal with . Even though he was knowledgeable in looking up what I needed he came across bothersome and very unpleasant. He sent me to another building in the rear of the store (#1) so that I could take a look at the item I was seeking. There I encountered another employee TOM. I told Tom I was sent there by the Lumber Counter for further assistance. Tom displayed a total disregard for helping me . He heard my inquiry . Stood there did nothing , seemed like he couldn't be bothered and just walked out of the building. Another younger boy working there assisted me. The only reason I gave my review 2 stars is that the store has a good selection of merchandise. I truly hope the manager of this store sees this review and addresses the need for customer service with his employees. read more
