I liked Stanley Tucci's pan set. He is a really good cook. The dinnerware China was exquisite. It was all displayed with care and a beauty. I would love to have guests over to one of their tables. They have the best and latest kitchen equipment from Breville and other top name brands. I looked longingly at the expresso machines There was a huge selection of olive oils. How can one choose? I was greeted warmly and asked if I needed any help. They were very nice. It is a gourmet lovers dream. But, prices are a bit higher, so be prepared. What a lovely store. Seven Months of Waiting... Only to Learn My Order Was Quietly Canceled I never expected this from Williams Sonoma. Order #: 353563762734 On December 22, 2025, I ordered a beautiful set of artistically painted mugs after seeing them in one of Williams Sonoma's promotional emails. During checkout, I noticed the estimated delivery wasn't until July 6-8, 2026 - more than seven months away. I thought it was unusual, but I trusted the company and placed the order anyway. Fast forward to July 8, 2026. The promised delivery window had passed, and I still hadn't received any shipping notification. I called customer service expecting to find out where my order was. Instead, I was told that my order had been canceled sometime around March 2026. The shocking part? No one ever informed me. No email. No phone call. Nothing. I spent months waiting for a gift that Williams Sonoma had apparently decided I would never receive. The customer service representative, Carly, was courteous and professional, and I don't blame her personally. My frustration is directed at Williams Sonoma's policies and how this situation was handled. I was told the likely reason for the cancellation was that the purchase price didn't match the company's pricing history, suggesting there may have been a pricing error on the website. Yet my order had been accepted and confirmed back in December. Even today, the same mugs are still listed on the Williams Sonoma website. What disappointed me most wasn't that a mistake may have happened. Mistakes happen in every business. What disappointed me was the complete lack of accountability. After keeping me waiting for seven months without any notification, the response I received was essentially, "Sorry." There was no attempt to make things right - no effort to honor the order, no goodwill gesture, and no offer to expedite a replacement, even though the product is still available for sale. A company that truly values its customers could have shipped the mugs via next-day delivery or worked toward another reasonable solution. Customer service isn't just about saying "sorry." It's about taking ownership and making a genuine effort to fix the problem. Experiences like this leave customers wondering whether promotional offers are truly intended to be fulfilled or whether they're simply a way to generate orders and collect customer information before quietly canceling purchases months later. I sincerely hope that's not the case, but this experience certainly raises that concern. This store makes me happy with all its beautiful displays. If you are feeling blue, just walk around and gaze at all the pretty displays. I'm not upset that they already have their Christmas stuff out. They had Dìa de Muertos stuff on display. I was considering buying some skull marshmallows for my students, but I was unsure about what type of gelatin was used as I have several Muslim students in my room. I tried to exchange a Mother's Day present and the store manager was rude, unhelpful and threatening. I will not shop there again. What you might ask was my crime? I did not have a gift receipt and was 4 days past the 30 day window for returns. I did not know about the 30 day rule nor was it 30 days from when I received the gift. I was not offered any other route than to refund it to the person who gave it to me's credit card - and I was supposed to be very grateful for that option since I was outside the window. I get it that there are rules but I should have been offered store credit so that I could get the size and color I wanted and I should have been treated with respect and maybe even kindness? i have been a loyal customer for 30 years. read more

I had a little bit of time to kill before facial at Bethesda Row a few weeks ago and popped into Williams-Sonoma for a browse (it's always fun to browse at Williams-Sonoma). If you know their stores, I'd say this one is average, pretty much what you'd expect from any of their locations. If there's any difference, it does feel like this store is maybe a little smaller, which made it feel pretty crowded and tight. I didn't end up purchasing anything, because the one appliance I am on the lookout for (a new spice grinder) was only available online and not in the store. We made the mistake of buying a Christmas gift from Williams Sonoma for our son. Three months later, the item was not working correctly so we tried to go back to get some feedback and a solution. WARNING: Do not buy espresso machines at the Bethesda William-Sonoma. My Breville Impress Touch was not working as advertised -- within return timeframe -- and W-S would not accept the return. They didn't care that this expensive machine they sold me was not operating as it should (specifically (1) the feedback around shot extraction at times was erratic and nonsensical, and (2) the milk frother heated the milk to a way-too-hot 190 degrees, and frothed the scalding milk to overflow.) The store manager wouldn't accept the return because it "made coffee" and "steamed milk." ** Don't risk your money at Bethesda W-S when they won't accept a return for products that aren't working as advertised. I did an online order that shipped from the 4824 Bethesda location. Two of the items arrived unwrapped in the box and was loose rolling around which probably caused all of the knicks and scratches on the item. I unwrapped a hurricane candle holder that was clearly used already probably as a store display. It had candle wax in it! Is this the level of quality to expect from Williams Sonoma now? who on earth would send items like this to a customer expecting new products? UPDATE: After speaking to the most helpful customer service rep who was just as shocked as I was, my items were refunded. They do provide good recommendations and opinions on products - very educative! They have the regular products and also quite a few of the Williams-Sonoma only products (much before other stores). Furthermore, there is a parking garage close by that you can utilize. 2. Cleanliness: I thought the store was very nice and well kept. Service: Upon arriving at the store, I was greeted by a friendly sales representative. I had stopped by the store to support my friend, Sarah Pratt, who had published a cooking book. The staffs at Williams-Sonoma were friendly and gave her ample time to demonstrate her cooking style and meal dishes for her audience. 4. Costs: The event costs $0; however, Sana Pratt did an amazing job showcasing some of her Mediterranean recipes that I had to get a copy of her book! She had showed the audience how to make Hummus, Tabouli, Stuffed Grape Leaves, and Chickpeas, Tomatoes, and Eggplant dish and let us try each dish. The book was definitely worth purchasing and can be ordered on Amazon. 5. Overall experience: I had no idea Williams-Sonoma had events like these. I am a huge fan of the store and the cooking classes. I really appreciate them opening their doors to Sana so that she can display her cooking skill sets and share her knowledge with consumers. Please read the reviews before you shop here!!! What most people are saying is absolutely true. I have never experienced such astounding unprofessional retail team until I arrived here. One associate by the name of Dan even told me that he "did not give a sh*t" if I brought my complaint to corporate or not... I bought a le Creuset set at the store, only to find out that one of them was cracked and had cooked food stuck to it when I opened it at home. Do they not quality check at the store prior to putting items back in stock?! When I spoke to another staff by the name of Beth (she claimed to be the store manager), she made it seem like I was wasting her time by talking to her. I am in the market to purchase a Vitamix blender and since I do most of my shopping for culinary needs at Williams-Sonoma, I decided to pick one up at the Bethesda location. After I got home and opened the box up, to my dismay, the blender appeared to be an used one. The base had flour covered all over it, the blades seemed dull and to top it off, the blades were rusted! I decided to call the store to speak with the manager for a refund and to provide feedback regarding quality control. An associate by the name Dan answered. When I asked to speak with a manager, he refused and insisted that I told him what had happened first. After refusing for a few times, I told him that I will bring this to the corporate office. He told me verbatim to "Go ahead, I don't give a sh*t". At that point, I hung up and dialed back later. Finally, I got through to the manager, Beth. When I told Beth about what happened, she kept brushing me off about the incident with Dan and asked me what I wanted her to do. Rude staff. Went there when they reopened during the pandemic and you have to wait to be let in and wear gloves if you want to touch anything. They won't talk to you or come near you and you are basically on your own, so don't ask for help finding something. Boy do I love this store. So many great kitchen gadgets. I came into this location on this dreary Sunday to avoid the rain and inspire my holiday baking. As I was making an exchange, I worked with an employee named Kurt. Unfortunately, Kurt was unwilling to assist me with my exchange as I had purchased something on a gift card and didn't have the receipt with me. I was very upset about this. The store has a good selection of items but the staff is simply rude and doesn't know much about the items they sell in the store. While it is important to ensure safety in covid times, the staff (all three of them) weaponize the limited occupancy guidelines to be rude and unhelpful to customers. We had a list of items to buy and after waiting for 20 minutes outside and then being in the store with these rude and unprofessional we decided to walk out and take our business somewhere else. The store is gorgeous, the items are wonderful. I won't buy anything here because they won't shut the front door of the store! Like other businesses in Bethesda Row they have the AC cranked and the front doors wide open. This is a waste of energy and wasting energy causes air and climate pollution. I could not believe how rude some of the staff is here. I politely asked if I could have a sample of a food product the salesperson was putting into cups. In a very sarcastic tone she told me I could when she was finished, then she took the tray and walked away from me. When I told her I felt she was being rude, she told me I was rude to ask her! When I got in line to check out she left her register, walked to a different part of the store and just looked at me. I had a strange experience at this Williams-Sonoma. Now, me going to a kitchen store is basically a trip to the mother ship, because I love to cook. Walking in, I made a beeline for everything I needed for an upcoming party. As I chose items and placed something into a hand-basket, a woman came up to me and took something out of my basket, telling me it would get too heavy. She put it on the counter, and then proceeded to come back and lean over my basket to see what else she could take. Mind you, it was just a trivet, and I'd never met this lady before. I completely understand helpful service, but this struck me as odd, and I tend to like my personal space. I wasn't laboring with a heavy basket -- there were two items in it. If things were heavy, I could have asked to leave something at the counter. After that, everywhere I turned, she was there, asking me if I was done or if I needed help. I ended up sidling up next to a different staff member for assistance, just so that she would have reason to keep her distance. I bought everything I needed through the other staff member (who maintained his personal bubble), and I love the quality of the kitchen tools/gadgets, but I know I'll feel creeped out the next time I go back. 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because it's a store focused on kitchen items (which I love). read more

I generally try to avoid negative reviews, being a believer in letting all businesses try to make their way to the top through excellence but otherwise setting their own standards for survival. On the other hand, there are those times when I am genuinely appalled at the product, value, and service to such an extent that I feel it may be worth sharing it with other consumers. This is one of those times. My general view of Williams-Sonoma over the years is that they do carry higher end and quality products. Their pricing, however, is generally outrageous, and so out of hand (so *easy* to get the same products for cheaper either in another store or on-line, even if you pay for shipping) that I have never really even bothered to consider them amongst my second-tier "go to" stores for when I am looking for something specific in the cooking domain. Instead, it's just one of those stores in the mall that I'll stop by to browse for ideas - usually during the holiday shopping season (I did find a great little ice shaver machine there last year which I bought for a college aged relative). HOWEVER, this past weekend I discovered that I somehow don't have a 9"x13" cake pan deeper than 1". Yet I really wanted to bake a strata - had planned to do so and even had all of the ingredients ready. I happened to be in downtown Bethesda so, remembering that a W-S had opened up where the old Parker's and Tara Thai used to be, figured I could surely pick up a good quality pan there, the convenience of it making up (somewhat) for the undoubtedly higher price. So I went. First, they did not have the pan I was looking for - the only 9"x13" pan they had out in the entire store was a "gold coated" W-S brand version for a mind-blowing $36. That's not the reason for the 1-star review though (I'd give it negative stars actually if I could have that register). No. The reason I am writing this review is because the attitude and service in this store was absolutely incompetent and unbelievably rude. The employees on the floor were too busy running around following one of two modes: buttering up to whomever they felt "looked" like they had more money AND/OR avoiding eye contact with anyone who might have a question. This wasn't just in my head - I spent nearly 40 mins just trying to ask someone if they had any other pans in stock (I really wanted to bake that strata) so had plenty of time to be both ignored and to overhear various conversations between the staff and other customers. At some point around the 20-min mark I thought I'd just turn it into a social experiment to see how long they would ignore me, the plainly dressed woman wandering around with a gold cake pan in her hand with a quizzical expression on her face. Three staff members made eye contact with me at various times while I waited patiently, then turned away and *literally* rushed off to someone else to fawn on. Now look. I know some of you are thinking I was throwing some sort of vibe. You're just going to have to take my word for it. I was not. I showered that morning, I was dressed in a presentable but plain manner, and I came in literally ripe for the picking and in the sweet spot for W-S demographics: someone with enough disposable income to even consider a $36 cake pan for heaven's sake. What I did NOT display, however, was designer clothing or high end (think North Face or Lululemon) clothing, a Prada or Kate Spade handbag, etc. nor was I waving around a blinged out iPhone 6 or Apple Watch. Nor - ironically enough - did I display that bourgeois expression of righteous indignance at being deprived of hand-and-foot service (you know what I mean, we've all seen this spoiled type of consumer behavior). Nope. I just wanted to confirm that they didn't have any other 9"x13" cake pans other than that ridiculous W-S gold cast one. Honestly, if someone had been polite and nice enough to ask me if I had a question or needed help in the first 15 mins I was in the store, my mindset (I am embarrassed to admit) was such that I probably would have bought the darn gold colored cake pan. As it was, I spent exactly 45 mins assessing the overall attitude of this location. And decided it sucks. Really sucks. I left - without the pan - and will assuredly never set foot in that store again. I honestly hope someone at W-S reads this and gives their staff a little training on how to be less snobby and rude. 'Cause with the prices they try to pawn off on folks as it is, I honestly don't know how else this company is going to survive. Oh, and as for the strata - I ended up using two smaller 9"x9" pans I already had and the recipe was a huge success. read more

One star is being generous for the customer service in this store. From the moment you walk in, its as if they're annoyed you even showed up. I was passing by the store on a Friday, and saw an advertisement for a Valentine's day baking kids class for the next day (Saturday). I went in, inquired, paid the $30 per kid x 2 for the class, and was told the class was the following morning at 11 am. I confirmed the time multiple times with two different sales associates. Fast forward to the next morning, I show up at 10:45 (15 minutes early) with my beaming 8 and 7 year old beaming daughters, to find out the class actually started 10 am. Quickly deduced that the sales associates from the day prior had incorrectly signed my 7 and 8 year old daughters for the Sunday adult class which started at 11 am. Mistakes happen- I get it. My kids will get over this. At this point, the response I am expecting from Williams Sonoma is something along these lines : 'I'm so sorry ma'am, I do apologize. Let me refund your $ 60 dollars right away". Oh no, not the case. I was informed by Travis, their General Manager, that I would have to show up for the adult class on Sunday. Um, my kids are 8 and 7, why would they want to join an adult class- not to mention we weren't free. When I said no thanks, please just refund my money, I was then informed he would have to 'check' if he could refund my $ 60 dollars. Really? For your mistake? Travis then proceeded to ignore me and continue taking care of other customers, while I waited, with my now two much less beaming and increasingly disappointed kids watching the other kids finish the class walk off with their beautiful cookies and desserts. After being ignored for 10 minutes, I asked Stacey (literally standing next to Travis the entire time) if she could help me. Travis while taking care of other customers kept interrupting my retell of the story to Stacey with helpful interjections like 'The sales associate who signed you up yesterday is very experienced', "I'm not sure we can give her money back" and 'This weekend is so confusing because we have adult and kids classes'. Eventually, after pleading my case, Travis reluctantly agreed to refund my money. Wow- thanks Williams Sonoma. Your generosity is astounding. Not even once, did Travis apologize for the mistake on their sales associate part. Again- I understand sales associates make mistakes. But don't blame the customer for YOUR mistake. Stacey for her part- tried to be helpful. She offered some free cookies to the kids. No thanks- at that point I was beyond cookies. Sales associates like Travis are what drives customers to shop online at Amazon. Let's see: I pay less, get things shipped to my door, if I don't like it, I put it on my front porch. All that, and no dealing with incredibly rude and condescending sales persons who act like showing up to their store is a hassle and aggravation for them. read more

Placed an order to pick up in store. Super excited that this was the only WS in the area that had the monogram glasses with the initials I needed. Although the drive was 20 miles from my home I was willIng to make that trek for a gift. I felt even more lucky when I got a parking space just outside the store on a busy Saturday during the holidays. This is where my luck ran out. After standing in line for about 10 mins (there was no separate line for online orders). I get to register provide my email where I was informed the item was ready for pick up. They tried locating the item for about 45 minutes. Finally the manager comes and informs me that they never had the items and they weren't sure why their system not only reflected they had it but that was ready. I immediately called corporate office and they also apologized for their mistake and the inconvenience. They did offer to send a gift card, which a appreciated. My final gift that wasn't appreciated was the parking ticket I received since I only put in a few coins because I thought I was running in and out. I was so disturbed by this experience I completely forgot about the parking meter. Ugh! Needle to say I would of never order and pick up from this location again. read more

Having purchased many All-Clad cookware from WS that are stainless and non-stick sautee, roaster, sauce, pasta pots... at premium prices, I must say that All-Clad does not stand behind their non-stick for non- performance. Common sense and the ability to read tells me the proper care of these pans. They requested and received photos, then stated there was no defect. Then the management goes into the return call mode at odd times and tell you that they are responding when I call back. When asking for a specific named manager, that person was in a meeting, one hour later not in, but happy to receive messages... WS is not helpful with this, in fact totally hands off. Advice to customers who want to lay out $195 for a pan thats is defective and a company that could care less (there are many many negative reviews such as mine everywhere), resist or be prepared to waste your money. Williams Sonoma should not be complicit. I will select other manufacturers and retails to do business with. read more

The two stars out of 5 here is not a mistake. Guess who's name pops up again here, Dan. We went into the store tonight to buy some things and were looking at the big refills of the hand soap. Someone who worked in the store was restocking soaps at the same time we were looking for the a particular scent of hand soap refill we wanted. This employee, a guy, who we later learned was Dan, one of the mangers, asked us if he could help and we said what we were looking for. At first he said, well, we have that in dish soap and it's the same thing as the hand soap. After we looked at each other confused, he asked if he wanted him to go in the back to see if they had what we wanted and we said yes, that would be great. He never came back. When checking out with other items, we explained we what had happened and another employee went to the back and came out with what we were looking for in minutes. We've been to this store before and I can assure you, the is the worst customer experience you will be insulted with while dishing out money for outrageously expensive stuff. They've got it all wrong, but sometime the customers are just as rude as the staff. Really disappointing. read more

I didn't bother reading the poor reviews because I have had such an amazing experience at this store because of their staff. Of course, it is in a busy location but it's simply beautiful. The staff will price match anything and they will give you a 15% military and family discount in the store. They are simply awesome. You may have to wait in line because there are a lot of customers (people with good taste :)). But when it's your turn, they will definitely show you that kind of attention that they were giving the person in front you. I'm very happy with this location but particularly the staff. On December 28th almost two weeks ago, I had gone to the Williams Sonoma on Bethesda Avenue and the atmosphere was cold and not very welcoming. As I approached the counter to pay for my two items, I could not help but to over hear the sales associate tell an older Caucasian women that today you can get 20% off of one item. When I got up there she did not tell me that, she just rang up my purchase at regular price so I asked her about the 20 % off. She began to tell me that it is only on certain items, I said ok well is the Waffle mix not included in the sell, then she proceeds to tell me that she will give me the 20 % off like she is doing me a big. She had already rang up my purchase at regular price, she had to go to another register and have an associate to take over the transaction because she was being nasty and was not going to give me the discount until I called her out on it. Later that day, I had gone to the Williams Sonoma in Tyson's corner and the young lady said the waffle mix is on sale. Wow! Needless to say it is obvious that the sales lady was prejudice and I will not be going back to that one anymore, that area sucks. Very disappointed with the store in Bethesda, Maryland. Spoke with the manager about something that had been on sale. She told me not to worry that they were still selling the item today with the sale price. I picked up the items, went to the cashier who informed me "that was not going to happen". I thanked her for her time and walked away. Apparently they don't speak to each other in this store. I have purchased many items in the past from them, but it will never happen again. Very rude young lady. She is not helping sales!!! read more
