It's really 4.5 stars (it wouldn't let me give a half star) I spent a long time evaluating and comparing contractors, products and prices before finally deciding to use KBD. Reading past reviews made me a little nervous but then I had to remember that most folks will post only if they are extremely happy or extremely pissed. The deciding factor(s) for me were: almost all of the folks working on the project are actual employees of KBD not sub-contractors; one stop shop for pretty much everything; close relationship with the tile/floor shop next door; one person who was responsible for the entire project; and an in-store Interior Designer on staff, all of whom worked with our Architect and my own long-standing Interior Designer to make our dream a reality. We had an extensive kitchen and bath project that required the knocking down and rebuilding of columns and walls, rerouting duct and electrical work through the floor and ceiling, new windows, a bathroom and pantry addition, and demolishing a staircase and rebuilding it on the opposite side of the loft. This project was going to take months to complete. I travel several weeks a month for my job, therefore I was going to have to leave a lot of the project decisions and discussions up to my husband....and that scared me the most! KBD did a fabulous job! Thank God for Mark, Shawn, Mario, Jessie and crew! KBD's quote was within range for a project of this size. The price was a little higher in the end because I got "home decorating fever" and added stuff during construction, but even with my last minute changes and additions, their price was still fair and within my budget. Jessie has a great eye for color and style. She understood what I wanted and kept my husband out of the decorating decision process...THANK YOU! Mark was always accessible. The demolition crew was professional and knowledgeable. Shawn and Mario were diligent with the details and thorough. The plumber and electrician were spot on, even when I waffled about placement of light fixtures and faucets. My new kitchen, living room, dining room, closets and bathroom are absolutely beautiful. Folks stop by and are in awe of our "new home". The only issue we had was with the painter, but that ultimately got fixed. Would I use KBD again? Yes!

New Review: 15 March 2020 I said I would KBD again and I did! This time, it was a total basement renovation. All I can say is WOW!! My husband thought the basement was fine just as it was...boy, has he changed his tune! He's been sitting on the floor of the family room all day, trying to figure out how to spend more money on "new electronic" crap to go with his new man cave. I had to take his credit card and put a block on the Amazon Prime account. Project included the demolition of the old under-house garage/mother-in-law suite concoction into a fabulous mud room with 2 coat closets, 2 shoe closets with benches; lounge area, full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, stairs, handicap-accessible entry door and family room (i.e. man cave). The team of Sean, Mario, Vito, Jessica and Mark were great! We are very happy with the quality of the workmanship and the attention to detail they provided to our project. Would I use KBD again? Absolutely...but not until my kids leave home.

An explanation of why I was ignored for so long was not provided , but certainly heard enough of bragging about how those million dollar homeowners love them. One can only wonder what's the hidden message there. Below is my whole project experience. I hired this company because it was recommended to me by someone who had good experience with them. However I was extremely disappointed on the irresponsible actions from the contract workers after the remaining of the work trailed for more than a year. To be fair, the initial part of experience was what you can expect with any standard professional company, the crew was polite and clean after themselves. After sometime, things began to get worse. The corner counter top was cut completely off center, after repeatedly contact and request for correction, a correction was promised , however nothing happened after almost a year after numerous back and force via email, phone calls, etc . Instead of take initiative and fixing the issue, I was given a phone number, and was told to call the counter top company MYSELF and make appointments MYSELF. After many calls with a lady who clearly has communication issues and barely understand what I was saying, a guy from the counter top company came alone , with a pencil and piece of paper board. He had no idea what was the job is for, and cut the board in wrong angle again. I caught the mistake before he left my home and basically hand held him to draw correct lines on the board. I did his work, and he left, and was never heard again. Of course, after this November 2017 incidence, everything fell completely silent again. I was never contacted to have a follow up again, or even a check in "hey, have you got your new counter top yet ? " or " I have things ready for installation ". NOTHING. From November 2017 to JUNE 2018. Ironically, all the way till I left my initial YELP review. During the summer project period, the contract worker left without making the microwave function , one light switch was installed upside down, one was not installed, thought still got charged . It was stated in the contract that the paint was a certain model, however, worker showed up with a much lower grade and claimed it was the right one. Also the contractor left was two jars of the paint which should belong to me. And painted one wall with the wrong color. AFTER ONE YEAR OF THE PROJECT I'M STILL EXPECTING WORK TO BE COMPLETED --- Update - I have to pay another company to come in , and fix all the mistakes. Also the workers parked in the wrong spot while clearly been told not to. and caused $400 towing fee and still have not paid back to me.

Unfortunately, the bull-nose tiles that were available with the same pattern had a much whiter background color than the large tiles. A general contractor recommended that we check out Mosaic in Rockville and we're very glad we did! The work the team did was beautiful and a great value for the price. We went a little over 10% over budget, which is just about what I expected for a project like this, and I was pleasantly surprised that we actually finished a few days early. The work comes with a 3-year warranty too (which we needed in the past and have had no trouble using), which gives extra peace of mind. Each person on the project - Elena the project manager, Juan the site supervisor, Alexa the designer, John the estimator, and especially the lead technician Cornelio was a pleasure to work with. As with any renovation, there are always surprises and hiccups along the way, but the team handled everything professionally, even when I was stressed and occasionally cranky. One thing of particular note was how much the team was willing to work with me when the inevitable surprises came up. There are things that nobody can foresee, which usually results in a change order and extra cost, but then there are those little things where everyone leaves a conversation with a different impression. In those latter instances, I always really appreciated how willing everyone was to meet me halfway and to make sure I felt good about how things were going and confident that we were doing right by each other. All in all, I highly recommend them and they will be my first call next time I have a project!
