I saw kitchen and bath depot mentioned on Reddit of all places and the moment I stepped in to the showroom, Shannon greeted us and answered all of my questions and was super friendly. They worked with us on the design so everything was exactly what we wanted and the project manager Mark was always available to answer questions when the guys were working on the house. We now have an amazing kitchen with lots of storage and a bathroom with the soaking tub I've always wanted! Kitchen & Bath Depot just finished a major renovation of our kitchen (new cabinets, countertops, backsplash, ventilation and appliances). We can't be more thrilled. We had used KBD before on a simpler renovation (new master bath shower) and we were delighted with their work, so didn't hesitate to engage them for this far more elaborate project. Why are these guys such great remodelers? Let me list just a few of the reasons. * Completeness: Except for appliances, KBD displays and sources everything that is required. You aren't sent around to countless vendors to look at their wares and then be the middleman in negotiating appropriateness, availability, prices, etc. * Design assistance: You are offered as much or as little as you need. But be forewarned, Rich and Olga are likely to be much more familiar with design issues than you - so that when they make their suggestions, you will hit yourself on the side of the head and wonder why you didn't think of these issues or ideas yourself. * Craftsmanship: With remodeling, everything doesn't always exactly fit together. Walls are not perfectly plumb, corners not perfectly square, ceiling heights may be wavy and floors are not perfectly flat. Thus, craftsmanship is required to neatly mount cabinets and appliances to that they look seamless. KBD installers (who are direct employees, not subcontractors) all made the extra effort to ensure that everything (even stuff that we would never would have noticed) was done right and looked perfect. Thanks, Tony, Walter, Mark, Raphael and Steve. * Predictability: You are told what work and workers are coming next; everyone arrives on time; and other than for weekends (and two snow days) work is done every day. Our full kitchen remodel was completed in just four weeks - slightly faster than initially estimated. * Neatness: Drop clothes and dust shields were laid/affixed every day. And no day ended without a through clean-up of the job site. * Price: As noted by other commenters, KBD's prices, while not discount rates, are very fair for the extent and quality of work being done - and below some quotes that we received from other remodeling firms. Further, you are not nickel-and-dimed for extra costs from minor changes or challenges. * Peace of mind: Remodeling can be stressful. You worry that things will not be done right, that you are paying too much, or the final product will just not look good. Hire KBD and you can put those worries aside. My experience was exceptional from start to finish. First, Shannon worked with us to design a bathroom that we love. She listened to our needs, made great suggestions, and helped us select attractive, high-quality materials. She is knowledgeable, organized, patient and an absolute delight to work with. There was no hard sell, just an excellent design. The company does not start working on the project until all of the materials are in. Everything was exactly as stated on the contract. Once they start the team is dedicated to your project. They finished it well within the time projected. Buddy, who did most of the work on our bathroom, is a rock star. He is skilled, knowledgeable, and was very careful with the work and our home. The rest of the team was likewise terrific and worked together like a well-oiled machine. We had an extensive kitchen and bath project that required the knocking down and rebuilding of columns and walls, rerouting duct and electrical work through the floor and ceiling, new windows, a bathroom and pantry addition, and demolishing a staircase and rebuilding it on the opposite side of the loft. This project was going to take months to complete. I travel several weeks a month for my job, therefore I was going to have to leave a lot of the project decisions and discussions up to my husband....and that scared me the most! KBD did a fabulous job! Thank God for Mark, Shawn, Mario, Jessie and crew! KBD's quote was within range for a project of this size. The price was a little higher in the end because I got "home decorating fever" and added stuff during construction, but even with my last minute changes and additions, their price was still fair and within my budget. Jessie has a great eye for color and style. She understood what I wanted and kept my husband out of the decorating decision process...THANK YOU! Mark was always accessible. My husband thought the basement was fine just as it was...boy, has he changed his tune! He's been sitting on the floor of the family room all day, trying to figure out how to spend more money on "new electronic" crap to go with his new man cave. I had to take his credit card and put a block on the Amazon Prime account. Project included the demolition of the old under-house garage/mother-in-law suite concoction into a fabulous mud room with 2 coat closets, 2 shoe closets with benches; lounge area, full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, stairs, handicap-accessible entry door and family room (i.e. man cave). We looked for a local place to renovate our master bathroom. We found Kitchen & Bath Depot from Washington Checklist. K&B has in-house interior designers that work with you to help design the bathroom. When my wife and I started, we had no idea the number of decisions there were to made. Jessica did an amazing job leading us through the process, picking out suggestions, and guiding us based on our feedback of what we liked while keeping our budget in mind. Once we started, I can't say enough about the professionalism of the on-site workmen as well as project manager. They were punctual, clean, and always responsive. When issues came up, they immediately addressed any concerns. Additionally, the various sub-contractors were also excellent. The quality of their work is outstanding. I cannot emphasize this enough. My father-in-law and brother-in-law are both homebuilders and were impressed by the quality of their work. When we told them that we had a timeframe that needed to be met due to holidays, and they completed the job on time. We couldn't be happier with the final product. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more

K&BD did our kitchen this past summer. They missed their scheduled date and the work ran into the time that we had already scheduled to go on vacation so they did some of the work while we were gone. This wasn't good. When the project was over we received a bill for $600 that the electrician submitted for work that wasn't in the estimate that we had not been told about. Shortly after the project was completed our kitchen sink backed up and we found that the new plumbing was installed without adequate clean out capabilities. The design of the kitchen resulted in several unusable cabinets in our kitchen, places where the stove door blocked another drawer/door. I felt like the "designer" should have alerted us to this clearance problem. I am happy with my new kitchen, but as my rating suggests, I've"ve experienced better. read more

They sent me a letter saying I over wiped the cabinets. These guys went from bad to worse.

We worked with Kitchen & Bath Depot in summer 2015 on a complete kitchen overhaul, replacing our 1980s kitchen. We worked with K&B Depot on all cabinetry, flooring, countertops and tiling. We even found their recommended appliance guy to match internet pricing. We also knocked down a wall between the kitchen and family room and removed soffits in the kitchen, which required significant plumbing and electrical work. Rick and Ron, our first contacts were engaging and honest. Rick, the kitchen designer is pleasant and smart and a joy to work with. Once we got to installing cabinets and appliances there were a few oversights (for example, the door height on a farm sink and the way a drop-in range abutted the drawer below it), but between Rick's eye for design and Carlos's master install skills, any hiccup was quickly and professionally fixed. Additionally, due to some surprises in the soffits with the initial cabinet measure we had to redesign part of the kitchen. Rick handled this with aplomb. Jessie, the internal contact for help with tile, countertops and other accessories was smart and thoughtful. She was particularly patient and helpful in getting us bigger sample sizes for countertops, which eventually led to the perfect countertop. Staring at 100s of choices in cabinet pulls can be overwhelming! Mark, the project manager is the backbone to any project. We have young children and he worked with us on a schedule that allowed us to have them out of the house for the major demo work and worked with us on a schedule while we were on vacation for a couple weeks. He even thought of having new hardwoods finished before cabinet installation so we wouldn't have to displace the kids again. Not only did Mark stick to the schedule, we had a working kitchen one week before we were promised! The demo crew was clean and efficient and nice to have in the house. Every evening our house was left spotless and they managed the dust and mess as well as possible. We anticipated some problems once walls and floors were open, but they worked with us on solutions. The sub-contracted plumber and electrician were also easy to work with and we were always aware of who was in our house and when. The real magic begins with Carlos, the installer and his team. Carlos's attention to detail is unparalleled -- and we are very picky clients with finish work and have had a lot of work done in the houses we've owned over the years. Carlos is calm and methodical and remembers every little detail. The project came in on budget and our additions -- additional paint work, additional panel ends that we requested were all discussed in advance and approved. Mark and Carlos worked with us to keep the additional costs to a minimum, but also get our desired finished look. We were very pleased with Kitchen & Bath Depot. We would recommend them (highly) to friends and use them for other updates to our home such as bathrooms or mudrooms. read more

Over the years, we've done four renovations with other contractors, but none has been as seamless as this one from Kitchen and Bath Depot. From the time I spoke with Ron Tucker, the owner (who was highly recommended by my architect, Mark Kramer), everything went as planned. I went to his showroom in Rockville, and after he came to the house for measurements, I spent an hour selecting finishes, etc. for the bedroom and bathroom K&B would remodel. After that, it was like a well-oiled machine took over. Mark Mueller, the project manager, supervised excellent craftsmen Steve and Gilberto, and the project was completely finished on time and inside of four weeks. I have used K&BD for two kitchens, one in 2002 and again in 2004. Both times, I had a good idea of what I wanted, and used them to refine my ideas. Both times, I purchased the cabinetry and pulls from them, but had my own contractor do the installation. With the first kitchen, I used K&BD for the countertop as well (a simple laminate with a wood bullnose), but they did not send someone out to measure the actual space, and the countertops they sent over did not fit because they failed to account for the fact that the walls in my old apartment were not square. They had to redo the countertops, which added several weeks to the project. Long and short - I'd probably use them again in a kitchen where I had a good idea of what I wanted, because their cabinet prices were good. Given the other reviews, I probably would not use them to do the installation, and I would never use them again for countertops. read more

Don't let the name Kitchen and Bath Depot limit you from considering this company for any job in your home. We did a major renovation of our home that ultimately resulted in a new home with all new spaces on the interior and exterior. The work included full exterior renovation including new entry porch and door, roof, siding, windows, garage door, gutters, stone work. Full interior gut and rebuild of entire first floor including new kitchen, foyer, dining room, living room, bar and family room and new construction of a large screen porch in the back yard. Ron, Mark and the guys from Kitchen and Bath were exceptional. At no time in the project did we have any problems or anxiety about the job. They completed the renovation ahead of schedule and never asked for any more money above our agreed upon price. We lived in the home for the entire 5 month period and the team was clean and respectful of our space at all times. After pricing out many of the other construction companies and design/build firms K&B came in at the best price among the group. Most importantly the finished product exceeded our expectations. They are true professionals and deserve to be considered among the best in the region. I highly recommend them and would happily use them again. read more

Kitchen and Bath Depot is a wonderful company that deserves the very highest recommendation! They recently completed a master bathroom renovation for me, and I cannot praise them enough. The entire process, the people, the workmanship, the customer service - everything! Their people are in-house rather than sub-contracted out. This provides seamless service for the project and also a dedication of the employees to the company and their quality of their work. Most of the employees have been with the company for many years (some 20+ years), which speaks to how valued the employees feel by the company. I can certainly speak to how valued I felt as a customer. I was able to schedule as many meetings as I needed with the designer, Jessie, and I was able to use materials from their showroom or to find things at other stores. For instance, I found floor tile I loved somewhere else, and Jessie ordered it for me with no problem. My work crew, Robert and Fernando, were on-site and promptly on-time everyday. They made sure the work site and surrounding areas of my home were clean, and their workmanship was stellar. Robert was the main guy, and he clearly knows his craft! He also was able to problem-solve any issues that arose, as unexpected things can happen in a remodel. The general manager of the project, Mark, was available anytime I needed him, and he clearly values kindness, respect, and attention in his approach to customer service - not to mention that he was consistently working behind the scenes to make sure everything was done right! Any problem that arose was met with prompt attention and a swift and satisfying solution. The rest of the team I worked with also deserves a shout-out - Steve "the fixer" - thank you! My upstairs shower was leaking in my downstairs living room. When I found out that the builder, Miller and Smith, installed the shower incorrectly when the house was built over 10 years ago, I had no choice but to tear down the shower and rebuild it from scratch. I used Kitchen and Bath depot to install my new shower and fix the ceiling in the living room. They did an excellent job on the installation of the shower. Mark worked with me to help me find complimentary tile to match the existing tile. The guys that installed the shower were polite, nice, prompt, and clean, and did the job in the agreed upon time frame. They did not however, do a great job and I was not totally happy with the repair of the ceiling in the living room. The ceiling looks rough now and is not smooth. I will eventually need to repaint it. Overall, I was extremely happy with the shower install and I would use Kitchen and Bath Depot again in the future if needed. Last spring we contracted with Kitchen & Bath Depot for a much-needed update to our kitchen. We had the cabinets, flooring, and counter replaced, and all appliances except the dishwasher. We also had recessed lighting installed. Kitchen & Bath Depot staff handled the cabinets, flooring and painting, and coordinated with the plumber and electrician. We went to the firm they typically work with for a granite countertop, which that firm also installed, and we bought our appliances from the firm they recommended. From the time we walked through their door, they were a pleasure to work with, very prompt and clear with estimates and helpful with advice on design. We had priced around quite a bit, and their quote was reasonable. Their crew worked together like clockwork--better, actually, since they got the job done on schedule despite a snow day--and were a pleasure to have in our home. They had to deal with some peculiarities of our house, especially some corners that aren't square, and they handled that beautifully. Going on a year later, we're still very pleased with the results. If we do a bathroom, we'll be calling these folks. read more
