What an amazingly fun experience. A night of ABBA. Full of great music and food. I'm not super…read moreoutgoing in my food choices so my husband was concerned. But I did end up eating everything. Some I loved more than others. The staff is truly incredible and you can tell that they love what they're doing here. I have never spent this much money on a meal and probably never will again. But it was our 10th anniversary so we went all out. I do wish the portion sizes were a tad larger. I felt like I should have been a little more full when we left since we literally dropped a mortgage payment. But for a once in a lifetime experience we throughly enjoyed ourselves. We did not get the wine pairing but I did enjoy listening to all the info they gave to the other couples who did.

Ella not only reached out to confirm our reservation and discuss dietary restrictions, she even created the cutest card as a surprise for Hubs. They go all out to give you the best experience possible. We had the theme Home which celebrates various pieces of NC. As someone raised in Charlotte since the 80's, the theme hit Home for me. The food - amazing! Each dish that came out was delicious. And it kept coming out nonstop. Can you say foodie heaven?!?! My fave dish is the fried catfish with peanut butter sauce. Actually, my fave is the Brunswick stew with cornbread. Or the chips and dip. Scratch that, I love them all!!! Customer service - pick a positive adjective and insert it here. I said what I said - THEY DO NOT MISS! I can't really describe it in words that would do it justice. Even the pics don't do it justice. It's something you have to experience for yourself, at least once. Highly recommend!

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon. Overall, food was delicious, but could use just a hint of attentions to flavor. I would definitely recommend you give Kounter a try. I would love to come back here again and try some more of their menu. Follow me on Yelp and Instagram @noodlesoupr as I travel the world in search of delicious food encounters.

The staff was friendly, attentive, and checked in at the right times, so no complaints there. The food was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad by any means, just lacked the flavor and execution I was expecting based on the menu and hype. Portions were fine, but the dishes didn't quite stand out or justify a higher rating. Overall, it's better than average thanks to the service and setting, but the food is what holds it back from being a full 5-star experience. I'd consider giving it another try, but mostly to see if the food improves. It may be that dinner is better than lunch, we went for lunch.

Service was on par at the bar. I ordered a Highland Gaelic Ale and I always figure any chicken place can perfect white meat, but the one that can make a plate of dark meat into an enjoyable meal and make me crave for more is a keeper. Well, the squash casserole that my wife recommended was the tasty part of the meal. The garlicky new potatoes tasted reheated and the chicken was under cooked. The price was great but regardless of price I expect a good meal. At a roasting place I expected the chicken to be falling off the bone or at least be cooked to a temperature to breakup the connective tissue and this was the opposite. I ate as much as I could stomach and then I focused on the reheated garlicky potatoes and squash casserole. The squash casserole did rock. Probably try their other location closer to home eventually, but this visit was less than satisfying.

Usually, you get these things and they're either stale or they feel like you're biting into a brick, but these were light. Airy. The seasoning is hitting every corner--it's like they actually care about your taste buds. No grease, just crunch. Then you hit it with the guacamole. It's fresh, I think, it's chunky, and it's got that lime kick that actually makes sense. It's not that neon green paste they try to slide you at the grocery store. When you combine the two, it's a beautiful thing. It's a peaceful transaction. No complaints. No notes. Just pure, unadulterated productivity. If you aren't ordering this, you're just making poor life choices. 10 out of 10.
