I stayed in this park and although the reviews from years in the past are nice, the park is in a…read morerather dismal state as of the summer of 2024 and apparently has only 15 spaces that conform to legal standards for renting/leasing and Two of these sites dump gray water directly on the ground vs. through approved sewage systems. The maintenance of the grounds and facilities leave much to be desired as it appears it is only the very minimum maintenance now on both the grounds, utilities. I experienced excessive rodent problems in this park as well. Walt's RV no longer handles the booking or the finances for park residents and the company which handles this (LPPM in Chiloquine) seems to be experiencing some challenges. I liked the owners and how the park once was, but could never recommend it as of now.

The food was good- buffet style- 2 types of turkey, prime rib, ham, twice baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, Mac-n-cheese, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, Brussels sprouts etc. All the food was warm/hot well stocked and buffet area was well maintained. The desserts had a lot of great options including the pumpkin pie which was delicious. I would recommend checking out Lake of the Woods. But if you are looking for a cute, one of a kind place to camp, come to Heartline Ranch. The camp offers tipis that to stay in, with sleeping bags and pillows provided. You can even have a campfire in the middle of your tipi! If you have horses, you can board them also, or take a guided trail ride. Located 30 minutes outside of Crater Lake National Park, it's a great place to stay if you want to camp without the hassle of setting and taking down your tent There are few things that I would have changed. Instead of the folding cushions they use as mattresses, I would have preferred a real camp mattress. I am also not a huge fan of port a potties, but they do keep them clean as possible. Honestly, the lack of plumbing is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. They have a shower setup and after a day of hiking, it felt wonderful. While I felt it was a little expensive, I would still go back and stay again.

The Tee Pees were really well received by my 4, 9 and 13 yr olds. They have 5ish couch like pillows or mattresses which I slept on great! They give you their phone number and tell you to call if you want any thing or have any questions. I had great cell service the whole time. There were wild strawberry bushes with flowers all over... in a few weeks campers will find a ton of fresh, wild strawberries (June 20). The hosts gave me a mosquito repellant ring to burn for mosquitos but I never used it. We did get attached for about 30-60 minutes which is typical in Oregon woods but it was not overwhelming. Proper long clothing and some good mosquito spray will do the trick. We used organic, natural chemical free bug sticks and sprays because my wife doesn't want to give the kids cancer and of course it didn't help us at all... so we got a few bites and have a low chance of getting cancer! If a few bug bites are a deal breaker camp in a hotel! I'm not a cowboy but I did care for and trail ride horses in high school. I felt like the horse riding was very safe and very considerate of their horses (one horse had a sore frog [rock bruise] so they decided that horse would not be rode). I felt like the horses are cared for like part of the family... which is good. A criticism - It's a family run business so if you have an itinerary that has every minute counted for you'd better free up some time for some inefficient horse prep! I wouldn't schedule dinner with the Crater Lake Lodge for 6PM if you have a 2hr ride scheduled at 3PM.. I'd schedule for 8PM and have a beer/ glass of wine while making up the time difference. At checked-in I learned my guests were not allowed to enter the cabin I had reserved for them. I was also greeted with litany of rules and fines, if violated. When I went to the marina to inquire about renting a pontoon boat for my group the staff was in helpful and surly. Later, my group wanted to order takeout from the lodge, but I was not allowed to take a paper menu back to our cabins for consideration of our food choices. Meanwhile, the blinds in the cabins were incredibly dirty and I don't know if there is a correlation but one of my group had a miserable allergic reaction. When I returned all the cabin keys at check-out I was not even acknowledged by the clerk. I don't expect to be treated like a celebrity, but I would the like the respect due a repeat customer who spends hundreds of dollars.

We camped in July and it was still cold. The place was full of mosquitoes. It was very uncomfortable. They did not care if we were covered with off spray. They feasted on us as if we were wagyu meat. Crater lake was stunning but we're probably not going back due to the mosquitoes.
