Ok this place caught me by surprise. I was thinking it was going be a large restaurant because you cannot see it from the road, but they have a large street sign. For years I've been wanting to try this place. After an outing in the Desert with my sister-in-law, we decided to try this restaurant it would be both our first time. My sister-in-law and I walked into the restaurant and found the place to be very busy as you would expect at dinner time. The crowd was mostly elderly, could be regulars. For appetizers, we ordered the potato skins. For our meals, I ordered the special of the day, Seabass with pilaf, and vegetables. My sister-in-law ordered the soft crab cake. And before our appetizer and meals arrived we were served a basket of rolls which looked like regular rolls, but when you bit into them, they were warm and very tasty. Both of our meals were very good. Sadly we had no room for dessert. Where our table was situated, we could see pretty much the entire restaurant. The only thing that was not visible was the sitting bar but everywhere you sat, you would be looking out a window. It is all around the windows. One of the window area they had hummingbird feeders hanging, and you could see the hummingbirds haven't their dinner as well. Service was very friendly. We've visited three times because of the consistently great reviews, assuming we must have caught an off night. Unfortunately, the experience has been the same each visit. Sitting at the bar feels oddly enclosed and lifeless. Even with open windows, the atmosphere comes across as closed off and quiet in an uncomfortable way, more empty banquet hall than inviting restaurant. Each time, the place felt dead. Service at the bar was also lacking. The bartender was frequently away talking with servers, leaving us waiting a long time for drinks despite how slow the restaurant was. The food was equally underwhelming. The sides that are often praised, including the twice-baked potato, tasted like frozen, reheated items rather than something freshly made. The meat itself was mediocre and forgettable, with nothing that stood out. We really wanted to like this place and gave it multiple chances, but after three visits, we're genuinely confused by the hype. read more

I was looking for an option instead of eating at the casino resort I was staying at. I remembered Lazy H. I hadn't been here since the late 1980's! It was great! I went for lunch with a couple of friends, and we enjoyed great service, a cool view of hummingbirds, and really good food! In fact, it was so good, I brought my cousins back for dinner. We had the same experience! Lazy H will be on my dining list for future trips! Great value for the price! Wednesday afternoon. 3 people in the bar. No patrons in the restaurant. Two waitresses. My wife and I go in for lunch. I ordered a salad with extra blue cheese dressing. I ordered a chilli burger with Swiss cheese. She says well they make it with shredded cheese. But you have Swiss on the menu. OK fine please just don't put American cheese on my burger. So she brings me my food. No salad. Oops my bad. I mean how do you not bring half of my meal. Then guess what type of cheese was on my burger..... you got it American cheese. The only drawback is the on site account manager who did not manage my booking correctly and there is a balance of $160 due to be returned to me + my Christmas groceries and gifts that were removed from the fridge and from my room, $250 groceries & $1000 in Xmas gifts and linens. I understand this was a mistake on the part of the housekeeper and / or account manager as they thought I had left. in fact I traveled to The Mission Inn, Riverside for 2 nights for the holiday festivities and I left a voice mail on the Lazy H Ranch machine to say I will return. I prepaid for my entire visi at Lazy H which was for 3-4 during the Christmas holidays of 2024. I would like to host a conference at this location for my former students from Woodbury University in the future. I suggest a clear written agreement for the 'Lazy H Ranch rental rooms or cottages' is printed with an invoice, statement of services to be provided and then a printed or emailed for payments received. I suggest a print out on the Inn bedroom doors stating rates, fire safety and emergency contacts along with instructions for operating the heating; A/C ; the WiFi., and television. understandably the SDG&E were having power outages for testing their systems during my stay so for 3 or 4 days there was no power or hot water, the Manager provided extra blankets and a discount. It was peaceful on those day s as the restaurant was closed. I traveled to visit Glen Ivy in Corona for a bath and to access internet to send messages home. My wife found this great, charming place because it was really close to Harrah's Casino where we went to see a standup comedian. She made reservations for our room and dinner at the restaurant. Food was delicious and we were thrilled with the entire experience. This is not a luxury hotel, rather a simple, but beautiful place for a weekend getaway. The room was comfortable and clean and we will definitely return. The grounds are beautifully designed and maintained and this was a quiet retreat that feels like home. Stop here yesterday after my cousins funeral with family, 9 of us total. At first my Aunts didnt know the count and said less but we needed to add 3 more. They seemed to change their demeanor and thought they could squeeze us all in on round table. NOT happening. So we asked for a larger table and to add an extra table to give us bigger people some room. We were told they were preparing for a party later that evening, mind you is barely 12pm. My mom chose this restaurant to celebrate her birthday as she loves it so much. I came for the first time and was greeted with termites eating through the table, placemat, and napkins. We didn't discover this until after my dad had used the butter knife to reveal the holes the termites were wiggling in. No manager or owner was there to address the issue. This incident occurred on the July 1st. Since then we have tried to call the manager with no luck and no call back. We've given them 3 days to reach back out before posting this review. Incredible experience! Took my fiancé for her birthday, while we are both huge animal lovers, we had little to no experience riding. Abby was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable from first contact and instantly made us feel at home when we arrived. I was incredibly impressed that they limit themselves to one ride a day, by appointment only and don't do tours on the weekend, the health and quality of life of the horses are obviously a top priority. Abby is super accommodating for pictures throughout the whole tour. We learned so many great facts about the area and Florida as a whole and we will definitely be recommending to others and coming back! read more

My friend had been telling me about this place for years and I was finally able to join her for dinner. I can kick myself for not coming sooner. As you drive in through the entry, you are transformed to a serene garden with birds, bees and the beautiful gardens of this lovely ranch. It's very Americana and there's definitely something magical and romantic about the property. The restaurant portion is very clean and comfortable. There's a great bar with a tree designed into the bar area. Outside of the windows are hummingbird feeders with hundreds of hummingbirds buzzing around and feeding. Something about everything about just being here makes you feel detached from the rest of the world and you simply feel better and very comfortable. The staff are very welcoming and very pleasant. It's one of those places that I can't wait to go back to which will be soon. I had the prime rib with a side salad. Everything was fresh, perfectly spiced and delicious. I had a Greyhound with my meal which was made from grapefruits grown on the property. You could taste the freshness for sure! If you're in the area hiking, driving to a casino, shopping at the local fruit stands or just happen to be in the area, the biggest favor you can do to yourself is to stop here for a drink, snack or meal. Food - They have a small but diverse menu. I had the spinach ravioli. The pasta had spinach in it, and the ravioli was stuffed. Topped with a nice garlic mushroom sauce. The sauce had chunks of mushrooms in it. So a great meal. I could have used a few more ravioli. Service - Some of the party was already seated. After we arrived drink orders were taken quickly. This place is a couple miles from our house we decided to hop in the Lyft and go give it a try since we went there and had lunch and it was good beautiful property up there in puma Valley if you go there in the daytime they have these giant hummingbird feeders with a hummingbirds come up to the bay windows that are across the whole property very old building but they take care and run it pretty smooth. Anyways we went there to try out their prime rib had there twice baked potato the mushrooms were amazing the meat was perfectly the cocktails were flowing we had a really great time and it's not bad in price and very big portions so if you have a chance take a drive up there or be careful cuz it's very dark out there take a Lyft with somebody else do the driving sit back and enjoy it you're going to be so full you'll be glad you didn't drive read more

When was the last time you had absolutely delicious street tacos? The new chef at "The H" is doing a fabulous job. I tried the sampler with grilled chicken, carne asada and carnitas. They make their own guacamole with fresh local avocados. I started off with one of their house salads with their homemade blue cheese dressing. They should bottle and sell it! Best ever! My oldest son frequents this restaurant and took me here for my 66th birthday. We had an early dinner starting at 4:45 PM, and there was already several large family parties starting to have dinner. I will apologize at the start that I had intended to take pictures of the meal but was caught up so much in conversation that I forgot until after I had already dug into my steak. They are famous for their prime rib of which both my son and I selected the junior 8 ounce cut, medium rare, with the twice baked potato and Caesar salad. The Caesar salad came out first and was very good. Crisp fresh Romain lettuce with crisp croutons and a decent Caesar dressing. The prime rib looked a lot larger than an 8 ounce serving. It was cooked to perfection with plenty of Au Jus on the plate and a side of a medium hot horseradish. The twice baked potato was a little dry but there was plenty of Au Jus to moisten it right up. Service is outstanding there. They have a bar that does a great job on mixed drinks or wine if it's your preference. I must tell you the drive is wonderful, if you like driving two lane winding roads through the country side. Loved our stay at the Lazy H ranch, very rustic and quiet. Love the atmosphere of the area,very beautiful birds chirping and bees buzzing pollinating their nice garden. The only thing that I would have to say that led me to giving them 4 stars was the pests inside of the room, gnats and also a pincher bug crawling on the bed comforter when we woke up to get ready for our morning hike. Other than that it was nice, the bed was comfortable and the shower is strong in pressure to help get rid of all the dirt and bug repellent we sprayed on for our hike. I also like how fitting the location was to Palomar State Park(36 minute drive). I very much enjoyed their Bar/Restaurant, amazing food and drinks! I will definitely will be back! Garbage food. Such a dissappoinment for an iconic and historic spot. I rarely bother to give bad reviews, but Lazy H could do so much better. There is nothing else around here. With all of the farms in the area, they could partner with a few a become a true destination...instead of bottled salad dressing, store bought meat patties, wilted lettuce. I went here tonight for dinner. For the first 3/4 of my meal, I was literally the only person in the restaurant. However, the service was good and they were attentive. The house margarita is delicious and strong. I ordered the filet mignon and since I don't like mashed potatoes they offered to sub the twice baked potato which I had read some good reviews about. The filet was good, cooked to order, and the asparagus were delicious but a bit buttery for my taste. The warm bread in the beginning was also nice. In short, the meal was above average but considering the margarita was only $8 and the filet mignon (also came with a simple salad) was around $30, it was pretty decent. Was it on par with Ruth Chris or Mastros? Definitely not but it is also half the price. Very cozy, rustic ambiance. Like an inn you would see in a movie. Friendly staff and decent service. This is a hidden gem. You can escape the hustle and bustle of the casinos and resorts. They have a mean Creme Brule and they know how to cook a steak. The twice baked potatoes were on point. The dining room has a lot of flavor and even local art featured on the wall. My husband surprised me with a lovely, peaceful overnight so I am not sure how much the cottage cost but it was definitely a nice change from the casino hotel. We walked around the grounds before having dinner in the restaurant. The restaurant was mediocre. As a vegan I ordered a garden salad and the spinach ravioli with sauce on the side. My husband ordered a steak that was overcooked. In hindsight he wished that he had ordered the prime rib. The cottage was clean and quaint. The heater and coffee maker worked well.  Overall it was a pleasant experience because of the garden and location. However, masks are not required by employees or patrons so beware. read more
