The most flavorful and reasonably priced prime rib dinner!!! Hidden away, very quirky vibe, good service at restaurant and they sell local art

I was looking for an option instead of eating at the casino resort I was staying at. I remembered Lazy H. I hadn't been here since the late 1980's! It was great! I went for lunch with a couple of friends, and we enjoyed great service, a cool view of hummingbirds, and really good food! In fact, it was so good, I brought my cousins back for dinner. We had the same experience! Lazy H will be on my dining list for future trips! Great value for the price! The prime rib sliders were awesome, and the chopped steak with twice bake potato was great too! And beautifully plated! My expectations were exceeded!

This is definitely my favorite dish, the chicken is nice and crisp, the twice baked potato is delicious!

The food is good. I love the ambiance and staff were friendly. I had a deconstructed (not a mix) Bloody Mary and surprisingly good! It was a bonus to have a view of hummingbird feeding. Wonderful experience!

Lazy H Ranch 16787 Hwy 76 Pauma Valley, CA 92061 March 8, 2023 Wednesday - 5:35 PM for dinner 5 Adult Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 4 stars Service - 4 stars Background - Group dinner with co-workers and vendors. Atmosphere - A step back in time. I loved it. Little booze bottles collection when you come it, larger bottles on shelves near the ceiling. Chair and table dining, 5 people at our table was a little crowded, but looks like a couple or four people would work out fine. Oh the parking lot is tight so be careful. Food - They have a small but diverse menu. I had the spinach ravioli. The pasta had spinach in it, and the ravioli was stuffed. Topped with a nice garlic mushroom sauce. The sauce had chunks of mushrooms in it. So a great meal. I could have used a few more ravioli. Service - Some of the party was already seated. After we arrived drink orders were taken quickly. We were talking too much so our server had to check in several times to see if we were ready to order. She was great. Future - I would like to but not on this visit to the area.

Never once have I had an experience like i had here at valley view. I placed slot bets between 2.40$ and 9$. All over the place i was getting bonuses and had initially thought everything was going great. But it slowly caught on to me that something was very wrong. Every single bonus I was getting was paying nothing. I even played Spooky Link/Mo Mummy and got the feature which provides extra diamonds to rank up the mummy, and on a 7.50$ bet. I got no coins whatsoever, and also no diamonds at all. And the 5 spins lapsed with a 0$ payout. I didnt even know that something like that was possible. I constantly went around and popped bonuses on slots. 5$ bet, paid 2.50$, 6$ bet, paid 26$, 4.50$ bet, paid 12$. Im not British, but I literally have to use the term Gobsmacked. Ive never been so shocked to have an outcome like this playing slots. Even on a losing day at any random casino ill go to, ill still have random bonuses that will pay a few hundred. Just to make sure it wasn't me. I observed many other players. I kept walking around and seeing people get bonuses on slots that, regardless of bet size, paid either LOWER than the initial bet, or from a 20-40$ payout range. This place is absolutely not to be trusted. There's something very dangerous and very scammy going on in the background here with how they manage their machines. Do not come here, go to pechanga, baronan, yaamava, etc. You will have your money stolen from you and you will not have even the slightest chance of profiting. Read other reviews. There is something seriously disturbing going on here. I was so shocked. I ran to security and filled out a self exclusion permanent ban just to make sure its absolutely never possible for me to return again. READ OTHER REVIEWS. The tall bed was comfortable and there was a helpful step placed in the closet so I did not have to resort to a high jump to get in. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was ok- I have a food allergy and staff had to scramble to accommodate it. I didn't think of it when we made the reservations, so that is on me. STAFF WAS AMAZING! Warm, friendly and filled with recommendations on where to eat ( dinner- and of course APPLE PIE!) We all agreed (we were traveling with others) that we would like to come and stay again. When you take into account the afternoon tea and a full breakfast, it's downright budget friendly!

That would probably pay for parking in San Diego hotels. This is a historic building and an interesting attraction in its own right. Breakfast is included and it was terrific. Food is expensive in Julian. A similar breakfast at a local restaurant would be $20. The staff are great. I met several day managers and the night security guy. They are all terrific people. It is really like staying in someone's home rather than a hotel. These is no TV. I think that belongs with the pros. The location is great. Right in the middle of town. Cons: Our room was tiny. Really tiny. Use the drawers and closets for your stuff so you don't trip over it. A side effect of the smallness of the room is that the heater/ac struggles to control the temperature . The design of any heater/ac unit presumes a room volume. The room is so tiny, the heater's built in control parameters are way off. Parking, parking is "street parking" and on a weekend, it's every man for himself. You may have to drag your bags a block or two. ---------------------- So would we stay there again? Absolutely. I would probably spend a bit more and get one of the small number of larger rooms, if available. If you want to relax and read, I cannot think of a better place. One thing I should mention, if you attempt to make reservations on line, there are half a dozen fake web sites imitating the hotel. They are put up by a dodgy travel company. They are really good imitations. I even an experienced computer user could be fooled. It is best just to call them.

Doors did not lock and not all furniture was unpacked so we had to put it together ourselves. While the view and the birds were spectacular, our hosts were not. We would leave work and things would be moved around when we came back, which was invasive and perplexing since there was no maid service in the four weeks we stayed. On several occasions after working the grave shift in the early morning there would be knocks on our doors and occasionally fire alarms would be set off. One day after days of our doors never locking (both the hallway and sliding glass doors) they decided to do maintenance to finally have the doors properly lock, and lock them when they were done. Well because none of the doors to our rooms locked many of us stopped carrying the keys, and upon arriving to locked doors it was hard to get in contact to be let into our rooms. This was an early birthday gift to myself, and honestly, nothing could have been more meaningful. Our group was led by the founder, Wendy, along with another amazing educator whose name I regretfully don't remember. Both were absolutely wonderful, you could feel how much they care for and understand each animal through the knowledge, enthusiasm, and respect they shared with us. The groups are small, maxing out at eight people, which makes the experience feel personal and intimate. Before the otter swim, we met about seven other animals, including a sloth, capybaras, fennec foxes, ring-tailed lemurs, and more. We were even able to feed, pet, and interact up close with many of them, which made the tour around the property both educational and heartwarming. And then of course, the highlight of the day: the Otter Swim. We got to spend time in the water with three playful otters, and I can now officially say I've petted an otter (flat hand, of course)! They had no concept of personal space, swimming all around us, climbing on our arms, and using us as launch pads back into the water. Watching them play and interact up close was beyond adorable. It was truly a 10/10 (or more like 1,000,000/10) experience, and I would--and hopefully will be back again someday. Parking: They have a decently sized lot available Bathrooms: Both port-o-potties out front, and 2 proper restrooms within the facility
