I do not recommend this place. First they told my husband that he had two cavities. He decided to go to a different dentist, because he had never had a cavity in his life. Turns out he had NO CAVITIES. They told me I had two cavities, and because I was already suspicious, I also got a second opinion. Turns out, again, NO CAVITIES. They told our daughter that she had 10 cavities. Ten. Unbelievable. Our new dentist said she only had three. Drilling and filling 7 cavities that do not exist seems to me to be tantamount to child abuse. I'm so glad we decided to get second opinions! Stay away from Dr. Wehle! Again, stay away from them. I've been receiving dental care from Dr. Wehle for more than a year and the service has been terrible. Their team only wants to up sell you expensive stuff. Since I met her, I've been tried to sell teeth brightening, ortho, and even toothpaste. I was very naive to believe her to receive an ortho treatment there. But she just did a terrible job. The treatment itself was not professional and what's worse was I waited from May to September to receive my retainers! In the meantime, I asked her several times on the retainers and she just kept forgetting and forgetting, and eventually delaying my treatment. Of course she doesn't care because she's busy selling to other people. The assistant Karen is even more unhelpful. She never talked to the Santa Clara office and made a lot of mistake in between. As she called me asking my new address, I said provided it twice already --once in writing in my last visit there, once again just a week ago I called to ask where my retainers were. When I said I need to leave a review of your service, she just said "That's fine! Is there anything else I can help you?". WOW, that's their way to handle customer complaint. I bet they have too many complaining so they are really "fine". Do not recommend anyone to go there. read more

This office and Dr. Wehle all seem wonderful...on the surface. The office has state-of-the-art equipment, and the people are nice enough. What turned me off and earned them a 1-star rating with me was the fact that they saw my great dental coverage and saw dollar signs. 1. When I went in for a routine dental exam and cleaning, they took full mouth x-rays. No cleaning. They scheduled me for a deep cleaning of my teeth which was completely unnecessary. My teeth are in great shape and I only have two fillings in my entire mouth. I take great care of my teeth. 2. They immediately tried to get me to sign up for Invisalign (I have beautiful teeth, and had braces for 2 years in jr. high. A couple of my teeth have moved, but it's not serious enough to spend thousands of dollars on an entirely new set of braces). When I told them I wasn't interested now, they let it go, for the moment. Today, about a month later, they called me and told me about a 'special rate' they were offering for this month only. I declined and told them I was unhappy with the up-selling. I came to my senses after the phone call and canceled all future services. They lost me as a patient because I felt like they cared more about what I could do for them then what they could do for me. read more

I was looking for a new dentist since my family's dentist retired. My family and I were referred to this office by a family friend and I was the first one to schedule an appointment here. I had my first appointment with Dr. Alex Mendoza. He's a big guy but he's very nice and explains things well. I had some questions since I thought of getting my wisdom teeth extracted, but he clearly and concisely explained everything for me to help ease my fears. He was also very helpful in talking about my oral hygiene and what I could do to improve my oral health and prevent the beginning stages of cavities that were starting to show up. His cleaning felt very thorough and he was pretty gentle overall. He even had enough time to fill the one cavity I did have. I really appreciate his help and will be sure to refer him and this office to my friends and tell my family to come to this office too. read more

I also got one of those flyers in the mail. But I thought I'd give it a try. hit me up for a deep cleaning right away I went with it only because I hadn't been to the dentist in over 5 years.. they don't have nitrous oxide. so we took xrays had a plan of attack if I would have stayed there for 4 implants, several feelings, some pieces removed of old Teeth, this is going to be probably two to three days which wasn't bad but the total bill would have been for close to $23,000. I could go to dr. Frankenstein and get a new head for less than that. yeah I agree they want to make money but if you look at their time slot they hardly work there at all close at 3 o'clock on Mondays. Worst dental place ever ( I lived in 6 different countries so far); went in for a regular cleaning. First person -dentist- cleaned my teeth, nothing special (she just tried to talk me into braces - one of my previous dentist would have mentioned that, right?- and pulling wisdom teeth -lucrative business in the US) then dental assistant dropped the polishing tool in my mouth while it was spinning. That cut my gum so badly I ended up having a swollen gum and throat for a week. She wanted to 'finish' the procedure by flossing which she did so harshly, jamming it in the gum and cutting into the corners of my mouth. After 2 teeth I jumped out of the chair and said it's enough. She kept pretending all was well and asked if 'maybe I did not floss'. I should have replied with a 'apparently, you never flossed either'. When the swelling did not take off after 48h, I called in to check...basically to cut short: I was recommended to see her friend the periodontist at first, but when I started making a fuss, I was seen by the dentist on Saturday morning, no apology whatsoever. Dentist blaming me 'you did not want a deep cleaning'. 1) what does a deep cleaning have to do with a cut in the gum? 2) when I came in for the cleaning, dentist said (i bet after carefully checking my insurance) "that i did not need a deep cleaning for now. Swelling lasted for a week...as a matter of principle, I am forwarding this story to the insurance company too. They should not receive any money for this kind of practices. Honestly, I know this is the Wild Wild West, but there should be some criteria for dentists...to me it seems the dentist and assistant bought their degree online and previously worked as plumbers. Go to this business if you want to loose your teeth...I am not the only one saying this (check other reviews- I unfortunately did not do before my visit). read more

I would discourage ANYONE from going here because of the horrible, stressful experience they have put me through for the past two years. As a result of this practice, I've gone from not minding the dentist to being super freaked out about the idea of seeing another dentist. It's taken me a over a year to recover from the emotional turmoil they have put me through to to finally start looking for a new dentist THE ISSUE: Two basic procedures performed that they say I owe them for that according to them, my insurance won't cover. Prior to the procedure they said my insurance would cover both in full. They send the bills, I call my insurance which confidently tells me that if they prove these procedures are medically necessary, then yes, the insurance will cover both in full. ESCALATED ISSUE: Long story short, the office has not and apparently refuses to submit the information needed to prove that the procedures were medically necessary. I wouldn't know because I have sent them a handwritten letter, 4 emails, and two phone calls over the past 6 months and no response. There are a few simple steps they need to take with my insurance, I even wrote it out for them after hours on the phone with my insurance figuring it out so they didn't have to, NO REPLY. I just want to know what they are going to because I can't contest this issue, they must. SUMMARY: I have loved this office until this situation. They are sweet as long as there is no issue that arises. To me, this seems like a pretty basic issue and I'm hoping that me writing this review will encourage them to finally follow up with me so we can close it and be done. read more

I haven't been to Dr. Wehle in over five years because I have no confidence in her and moved on. Why am I writing now? Because every few months we get a flier in the mail, and each time it makes me angry all over again. We moved to San Jose from another state and I needed a new dentist. I found Dr. Wehle because she was in the same building as my chiropractor. Office was clean, staff was nice, equipment state of the art, so I decided to give her a try. First, I had a really old filling in one of my molars that had fallen out. A small hole right in the middle of the tooth. Instead of filling it again I was told I needed a bigger procedure. The name escapes me, but I spent a long time in that chair while she drilled and drilled and drilled and drilled. My previous dentist was excellent and I had always trusted him, so naively I trusted her. Each time I went in, there was another tooth she said needed to be redone, and with the same expensive procedure. Four teeth in total. To make matters worse, each of these four fillings failed. I was a patient for less than two years, and in that time one cracked, the other two leaked, and the fourth one FELL OUT. When it did I could see the HUGE hole. She also filled a side surface cavity along the gum line that lifted up not once, but twice. I finally wised up and found a new dentist. He corrected all of the work and each time commented on how much of the tooth. He even asked if I had been in an accident. All four teeth eventually turned in to root canals because so much enamel had been drilled away, there was nothing left to work with. Even writing this I'm getting emotional. Bottom line, I do not recommend tis dentist. read more

While looking for a new dentist, I tried this place. First problem, they told me they would take photos of my teeth and then "showed" me "my photos" on a computer and there was a different name on the photos and they were obviously not my teeth. They showed me photos of some really dirty teeth and tried to tell me they were mine. I saw in small writing someone else's name on the photos. Then after they did the check up, they took me to a separate room with a desk like in car dealership and proceeded to tell me I needed special cleaning procedures and it would cost me $3000 and tried to put the hard sell on me with payment plans and the whole bit. I got the hell out of there and found a great dentist who did a full check up and cleaning and told me my teeth were in great shape. I spoke to a neighbor who said she got the hard sell for expensive procedures as well. read more

I am so relieved that I finally found a dentist that I can stick with. When I relocated from LA to the Bay I had the most difficult time finding a dentist that I feel comfortable with. It's not easy blindly picking a dentist from your insurance network, but this time I got lucky! I was able to make an emergency next day appointment for a toothache I was having. Gina, the receptionist was very sweet and accommodating. The morning of my appointment, I arrived on time and was immediately seen by Dr. Danielle Van Wehle's assistant Robyn. She took x-rays and performed numerous tests to prepare for Dr. Van Wehle's examination. The Dr. examined me and predicted that I may have a sinus infection on the left side which is causing my toothache. She suggested that I go see my regular medical Dr. so they could take the necessary tests as they were unable to. 3 doctors visits and one CAT Scan later, it was determined that I did, indeed have a sinus infection on the left side. Thank you to Dr. Van Wehle and staff for a comfortable visit. See you in a few weeks with cupcakes in hand as discussed! And yes, per the staff, cupcakes are a welcome treat - even in a dentist's office. read more

The services at Willow Glen Dental Care are excellent. The team is friendly and very accommodating. Not only was I given different options for my bridge, but the team even offered to print out an estimate for each option showing how much my insurance would cover. I especially appreciated the approach - many dentist offices can be rude and/or condescending to those who haven't made appointments in awhile. Not everyone has consistent insurance coverage, and I appreciate the "it's never too late" attitude shared by the team. While I understand the sales pitch can be hard for some people, I don't understand the one-star reviews. Willow Glen Dental offers services and products that people who aren't in the business don't know about. For myself, I appreciate knowing what's out there and being able to make an informed decision. read more

My previous dentist was a childhood friend of my father. It took me 10 years after leaving "home" to find a new dentist. Yikes. They took great care of me from the very first. Their receptionist/billing clerk knows her stuff bigtime-estimates are timely and accurate. Everyone in the office is friendly and cheerful, and I am always treated well. I've been going to this office for more than 10 years. In the last year, with the expansion of more staff and an associate dentist, I won't be returning. On my last visit someone I'd never met sat down to drill into my teeth. A young dentist. After dealing with Dr. Wehle only for years and never having been informed than a younger, less experienced dentist would be handling drilling into my death, I declined and made another appointment with assurances that it would be Dr. Wehle doing the work. After the visit with Dr. Wehle (fitting me for a crown), a went into the crown. Again, a brand new dental assistant started the work. She had trouble working with my tooth, dropped the crown a few times, and eventually had to be helped by the experienced staff. After having told Dr. Wehle and the staff that I didn't want to work with newbies, they assigned this person to me. Now, they have screwed up billing. I won't be returning even for my yearly cleaning. I'd rather go without. This is the result of branching out with too many new people in the office. It creates an atmosphere of sub-standard work when this dentist gets to bill my insurance at a higher rate because they consider her to be premier dentist. If she's premier, why are the plebians then taking care of me instead of her? If I have to pay more for this dentist, then I expect this dentist to do the work herself. Extremely disappointing. And, I've let my dental insurance know that her office shouldn't be considered premier. read more

I don't like writing negative reviews, but sometimes it's important for public health. Seriously. I visited with this office after having recently relocated to the area. I'd received several friendly postcards from them in the mail and thought I'd give them a try. Looks aren't everything, but first impressions are usually right. I was disappointed with the reception area; it looked a little run down and cramped; like the clients' comfort wasn't a priority - understatement! Back in the small examination room, within 1 minute of being in the chair, the hygienist recommended Invisaline. I kind of laughed and mentioned that I wore braces throughout high school and have excellent alignment. He pointed out an area where 2 teeth are slightly less aligned than the others; absolutely nothing that would require adjusting, you can't see it, I can only feel it with the tip of my tongue. I declined. He then proceeded to conduct the most painful cleaning I've ever experienced. He used an abrasive tool meant to "agitate" the plaque off of the gum line. I think the real benefit of the tool is so the hygienist doesn't have to work as hard using dental floss and some muscle. I take meticulous care of my teeth and this level of abrasion and pain was not necessary. Then the dentist came in, looked in my mouth and immediately started counting. She didn't poke at my teeth or gums, or have xrays to refer to, or ask me about my dental history. I was shocked when she told me I had 8 cavities which needed to be filled immediately. I told her that I was with my previous dentist for 16 years, and I have zero cavities, zero fillings, and there's no way I could've gotten 8 within 1 year. She then got out a mirror/light set-up so that I could see all of the molars she was referring to. I told her that we were looking at stains in my molar crevises (I drink coffee) and they'd been there in the same condition for decades. The only thing that ever concerned my previous dentist was some possible gum recession in a couple of front teeth. She then became defensive, and said that she'd been in practice for x amount of years, and that she knew what she was talking about, and that the stains were indicative of significant pockets of decay underneath. She was almost angry as she told me that I needed to get them filled, and that she should start the process today. I declined and said I would get back to her. As I checked out at the front desk, the receptionist pressured me to set up the next appointment. I did set up an appointment a few months later with another dentist recommended by a long-time local. The office, reception area and exam room looked immaculate; the equipment cutting-edge. The hygienist did a thorough, unpainful, traditional cleaning. The dentist thoroughly examined my teeth, gums and mouth and asked me about my diet and oral history. When he was done he said, "This is the most beautiful pair of choppers I've ever seen." He called the hygienist in and said, "I wish all of my new patients looked like this." I asked about my molar crevises and he said those were stains, and again, the only thing he wanted to track was my gums in front. "Don't change what you're doing. It's working." Point of the story: some consumers more vulnerable or "trusting" may believe the Willow Glen dentist and agree to having their good teeth drilled and thereby ruined. I hope this helps prevent other people from unnecessary, expensive procedures and what I consider to be unethical practices. read more

This dentist is a crook, up selling very expensive and unnecessary treatments. She trains her dental assistants to up sell too. She is unethical and lies to try to justify such treatments. She had difficulties matching my front crown and sweet talked me into putting a veneer onto the perfectly fine tooth next to it explaining that this was the only way to get a perfect match- after prepping this tooth she still had difficulties matching it so sent me to the local lab where they make the crowns/veneers, they explained that it would never be possible to match a crown and veneer because of the different material and varying opacity. They further stated this was not standard procedure. I am very dissatisfied with the end result and blame this dentist for a poor aesthetic result. read more

This was the worst dental experiences I have ever had. I got new dental insurance through work and was assigned this because it was close to my house... I had informed them that I didn't recall going in for a teeth cleaning for about a year, but wasn't experiencing any pain and wanted just a cleaning. Before even seeing a dentist I felt that I had to negotiate with a used car salesman, because the receptionist kept trying to get me to purchase a deeper clean (that of course was not covered by my insurance)... after telling the recpeitonist that I did not want ANY additional services three times I got to see the dentist. They informed me that I have 9 count them 9 CAVITIES... after never having a single cavity in my entire life. They then wanted to schedule all of the fillings right then and there and shocking it was going to cost a couple thousand dollars... I freaked out and told them that I would call them to schedule. I then looked at the reviews on yelp and other sites and saw that they were known for doing this exact thing, telling new customers they needed all this work done when in fact they really didn't. I then contacted my insurance company and told them that I would like a second opinion, because there is no way in one year I would have gotten 9 cavities. Anyways, the insurance company got back to me and said that upon reviw of the documents they did not think that any of the 9 "cavities" reported by the dentist needed fillings, that they would set me up with a new dentist, and to get a teeth cleaning and examination. read more

I caution you to stay away from this dentist! Unless you want to pay lots and lots of money for treatments you do not need. After my husband went a few weeks before me- they tried to tell him he needed a "deep cleaning" and that he had 4 cavities that need to be treated (oh and also some scaling and root planing). For history-my husband goes to the dentist every 3 months- we came to this office because our previous dentist retired. We were very skeptical about this since our previous check ups have always been fine. So i proceeded to attend my appointment just to see how it would go- the hygienist tried to sell me on invisalign (i had braces and perfectly straight teeth). Then after my cleaning- Dr Diane came in and took pictures of my teeth and tried to tell me i needed 4 cavities treated, along with a pinhole surgery to help my gums. I haven't had a cavity since i was 8 years old. Oh and to top it off, my insurance doesn't cover half the procedures they said i needed. Bottom line- this place is trying to scam people. I am disgusted any health care professional would do this to patients. We will not be returning. read more

Twice, our appointments have been either cancelled (first occasion) or overlooked (second occasion; still unsure if the appt was cancelled or if they forgot). Both times, we learned about the cancelations upon making the 20 mile drive from our work offices on the peninsula to the dental office in San Jose. To make matters worse, our appointments in both cases were actually confirmed via text message including a note stating "no changes via text." Although the dentist was able to get a hygienist here during the second day, it feels a little too late. Needless to say, I will no longer take time out of my day to leave work early and risk showing to an appointment that may or may not be on calendar, regardless of what the business's text messaging system says. Dr Wehle has been my dentist for several years now and I couldn't be happier with her. Work: I got Invisalign here and it ended up costing me a lot but my teeth were really messed up. I stuck with the plan until I was almost finished then I lost my invisalign and instead of going back and getting a new one I just became lazy and slowly my teeth moved back to being somewhat crooked. I waited a year before coming back and when I did I was told that I would have to pay the full price again.. which was what I assumed. This was my fault for being so irresponsible though so if you do get Invisalign DO NOT keep it in napkins. I know that seems like common sense but when you're out and about it's a lot easier to just throw them in napkins. I also had a few teeth cleaners and cavities filled here with zero pain. I am a BIG baby with pain but I haven't felt anything to be honest I almost like coming to the dentist. She doesn't do root canals so she referred me to another dentist and he was great also painless. Office: The office is very nice and updated super clean and comfortable to be in. Everyone here is always friendly and super talkative. Dr Wehle: She is super sweet every time I come in she remembers what's going on in my life and we pick up talking like I was just there. She doesn't push or try to get money out of me. She simply makes suggestions and lets me decide what I want. I love coming here and I will continue to come to Dr Wehle! read more

I've been coming to Dr Whele for 4-5 years now and cant be happier. She and her team are people I absolutely trust. I've never had an issue like the other people described and I guess it just shows how touchy some people are wanting to find fault so they can write super dramatic reviews online. When I came to Dr Whele my teeth were a mess. Slowly and surely - with lots of care and attention on my part, and Dr Whele helping me along, I've got my teeth where I need to be. My husband has also been coming to Dr Whele for the last several years as he has a dental implant and need special attention to keep that clean. Sure - Dr Whele told me that if I got Invisalign, my teeth would look nicer and it would be easier to keep up my dental hygiene but she never pushed the issue. After about 12 months of thinking about it, she hooked me up with Invisalign and I haven't been happier. I didnt realize how bad my big buck tooth was until its been corrected, and I also now find it SO much easier to keep my teeth clean when they're not crowded and overlapping. So... I'm not complaining. I was also advised to get a deep cleaning which hit my dental insurance a bit, but that 1 single treatment helped take the gums of my teeth from 5s and 6s down to 2s and 3s and has stayed at this point several years later, so I sure dont miss the sore bleeding gums and nervousness every time I go to the dentist because cleaning will hurt. My gums are much healthier and dental clean is a breeze. read more

The front desk staff, Gena, immediately ensured they had my insurance information straight. The hygienist, Lori, was ready to greet me quickly. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and conscientious. Dr. Wehle was good though I didn't interact with her as much as Gena or Lori. The decor felt upscale though also welcoming. It's a slight observation but there was a broad range of magazines too. Even though I was late a few minutes the office didn't make me wait - I hardly had time to get to the page of the article I wanted to read. ;) Overall, I'm thrilled that I decided to face my fear of dental work and that this office will be there with me. read more

A couple of weeks ago I had two implants done. The proceedure took over an hour. Dr. Wehle gave me a prescription for antibiotics and for pain relief. Within an hour after the surgery I went to fill the prescriptions. At the pharmacy I noticed that I was not really feeling any pain. My gums were a little sore, but no real pain. I decided to only fill the antibiotics prescription. I figuered that if I needed it I could get it later. I never had a need for it. No pain. Swelling was very minimal. In fact I was fully functional by the next day. Before I went in for the surgery, I heard stories of patients who were in pain for several days. I'm very happy with the surgery. I agree 100% with the one stars, and do not believe this office even deserves that. I had the same experience. They wanted me to have an Full Mouth X-ray as well, even after I told them, that I had one a couple of years ago, but they noticed, that my insurance didn't pay for it than, so they wanted to cash in. The hygenist was really rough, and rude the worst cleaning ever. The dentist is really immature, and shouldn't even be in practice. What a racket! read more

I hate this place, I should have known not to go back after they told me that I NEEDED deep cleaning while I was 3 months pregnant or any bacteria could terminate my pregnancy!!! (i went to another dentist and they told me that i dont need deep cleaning and they are just trying to make money of me) REALLY!!! they just wanted to scare me into paying to do other treatments! but I still went back, this time to see another dental Hygienist and they still managed to sell me on the deep cleaning so I did and it was probably something I could have done at home!! she spent more time talking and trying to sell to me other treatments!!! Then I get fillings done because they recommended it, so I did with Dr Wehle and a year later my teeth are more sensitive then ever!!! so eventually i learnt the hard way and finally moved to another dentist which i am so happy with!!! but still a yr later i am still getting bills from this place which i have already paid for!! When we call them the receptionist blames the system and promises to fix it but then we get another different bill, either their receptionists are stupid or they have a crappy old system!!! Another thing i didn't like about Dr Wehle is that when my filling were hurting because clearly she didn't do them properly, instead of her trying to fix them she always referred me to another Dr for root canal when i didn't need it!!! she loves referring you to her friends!!! we still continue to get bills and now even my husband will be leaving this place!!!
