Stay away! Even if they make you feel comfortable and like your in good hands. YOU ARE NOT! I just left the periodontist who made it very clear that my years at this office were a tragedy. I was under constant care and yet problems were never addressed that were not going to make them money. Meaning they never sent me to a specialist for my care because it didn't benefit them. Just acted like everything was fine and I needed deep cleanings a lot. I maxed out my insurance here for years only to know now the whole time my teeth and the bones that hold them were getting weak. I have nothing but great things to say about Willow Pass Dental Care! I recently moved to the east bay a couple of years ago, so I had the burden of looking for all new doctors, including a new dentist. After reading many reviews on several different dental offices, I decided to check out Willow Pass Dental Care and I can say with confidence, I have found my dental office for many years to come. I've had several cleanings done over the span of the two years I've been living out this way, along with a dental implant I've needed for years, but never had the money to do it, and after each visit, I've always left feeling like I was taken care of. I've never been a fan of going to medical appointments/ dental appointments because I guess you can say I have that white coat syndrome (I get anxious around doctors and medial staff), but after my first visit and every visit since, I've never felt that with the staff at Willow Pass Dental Care. A special shout out to the front office staff who always have a warm welcoming presence each time I come, but an extra shout out to Cynthia who is front and center and has taken care of explaining all my visits and what co-pays are needed. I also want to send a special shout out to the dental hygienists who have both been extremely efficient and thorough with my cleanings, thank you Carol and Wuenzy! Thank you to Yvonne who is the dental assistant that helped with the prep work and post opp care of my dental implant. She is super approachable and explained each step along the way to make me feel reassured I was taken care of. I think it's important to read the 1 star reviews and will do so moving forward. I selected this office based on the high praise and 5 star reviews. After leaving, the office my faith started a downward spiral with the service. I had to contact my Dental insurance provider to answer a few questions. My experience resonates with much of the complaints written. It is fine if the practice wants to charge upfront for their service, but be transparent about not accepting insurance. They shouldn't even be listed with insurance companies as a designated dentist. They know how to manipulate the billing codes. Expect a busy practice. The dentist will be working on you as well as other patients. They do their work within an hour. I have thought about this for several months since my visit. I am returning to my old dentist. I need to have my work redone. The equipment is better and the materials are a better quality at my previous office. My Medicare insurance does not cover my old dentist. However, if I have to pay cash upfront, I want someone who has better materials and meticulous about their work. Plus my old dentist prices are better. read more

The pandemic and a change in health care plans led to my longest stretch without seeing a dentist (over four years). Also, the original dental clinic, which will go unmentioned, selected by my new insurance, based on its Yelp! (and Google) reviews made it unappealing, not to mention other local offices within my plan. Fortunately, being allowed options, eventually that led me to Willow Pass Dental Care, and while overdue, was worth the wait. My initial experience went well and stress-free, from my first call to the office, when an appointment was available the very next morning, to the reception desk to fill out the obligatory forms, continuing smoothly with Gina, the hygienist who took several X-rays then went right into the cleaning, even explaining some of the instruments she'd use. I was then introduced to Dr. Khan, after his examination, explained the need for a partial crown procedure and attended to a soreness I'd been experiencing. Was then led to a small conference room for privacy purposes to discuss the next appointments with one of the receptionists, who printed out an itemized cost. Returned the following week for the partial crown and everything continued to go well there. Was never rushed, even asked by Dr. Khan's assistance if I needed water (they provide a small bottled one) and Dr. Khan, himself, if I ever needed a break and what to expect after the procedure. A proper tone of professionalism, caring and calm is set from the moment you step in (there's no "upsell" of unnecessary "premium" treatments). Hope to stay with them for a long while and will be back in 6 months (received a follow-up call the next day to ask how I was doing, too, though sorry I missed it. So far, all's good!). read more

I went to this dentist because they accept both of the insurances I have. I wouldn't recommend this dental office to anyone for any reason. I had a root canal, extraction and crown done here at different times, on different teeth. The root canal went fine. Dr. Lavorini did that. I had an exam by Dr. Reza. It was ok except he didn't even mention the small filling that had fallen out of the back of my #10 front tooth...so I can't imagine it was a very thorough exam. The front desk women acted like I was getting an exam from the king himself...it was a little strange. Dr. Reza apparently goes to developing nations to provide dental care for children and those in need...and he isn't going to let you forget it. There are large framed collages and photos all over the waiting room walls of him posing with the children he has helped. There is also a video slide show playing on the TV. It's a little much and very performative seeming. Dr. Kahn did my extraction and crown. Both were a disaster that I'm still having issues with. Unbeknownst to me, he left a sharp shard of broken took in the extraction spot. I went back for the post-op exam and told him I was in pain still. He made a sarcastic comment about "excruciating pain" and dismissed my concern.  Still in pain two weeks later, the shard of tooth made it's way to the surface and I was able to remove it with tweezers...no pain after that! I emailed their office soon after I found the shard of tooth still in the socket and never heard back. A week or so later I emailed them again to see if they even received my complaint and finally I got back an email that simply stated it was received and that Dr. Sam would be calling me. I had asked for a female dentist since my experience with Dr. Kahn was not good and was told Dr. Lavorini is the only female practitioner in the office and she's a specialist. The crown Dr. Kahn put in chipped and then broke off almost completely just after one year. I have yet to be able to get it replaced because no insurance will pay for a crown on the same tooth within such a short time frame. Also, when he was putting in the crown he filed down the crown I have on the tooth above it to make it fit correctly and now I'm having issues with that crown also. The billing department isn't great either. They tried to charge me and extra $200 for some sort of chemical they use during a root canal...I told them I couldn't get the root canal done then and they said they would bill it a different way so that insurance would cover it...ok fine, then why ask me for it in the first place? I have dual insurance that covered the root canal, extraction and crown at 100%. I guess a little cash in hand is preferable to waiting for the insurance to pay? Another thing is that they aren't really a family dental office. They specialize in dental implants and cosmetic stuff...so they push that a lot...expensive stuff not covered by any insurance. I won't be returning and I don't recommend this place to anyone...no matter how good your insurance is. read more

I just had a lot of dental work done this week and was delighted with the total experience from the front office where Cynthia provided all the help needed for the "paperwork" involved to the dental work performed by Reza Khazaie and his staff. I was first told that I needed a root canal performed before the current issues of abscess in 2 teeth, 3 extractions, 2 Implants, etc. My expectations were grim: a lot of yanking/pulling and pain for several days. As it turned out, I walked out of their office feeling hardly any pain and now 2 days later, I'm feeling like nothing much happened, only the slightest bit of soreness and only taking one Tylenlol every 6 hours. Dr. Reza promised me exactly what I'm feeling and would highly recommend his services. His staff also could not be more kind, helpful, and commited. He delivered what he promised and treated me with total respect informing me exactly what he would be doing and made a point of frequently going to the waiting room to let my wife know the current status of the progress being made and my condition. I have worn dentures most of my life. Ever since I heard of 3D dentures I wanted to see if they were as comfortable as they are describe. Doing my research the dentist at Willow Pass Dental according to their website was the best. The review that I'm going tell you about I do have to take a little of the blame because I jumped the gun on the insurance. When making the appointment I asked the receptionist to let me know if the wasn't effective so I wouldn't have to drive the hour and a half. Text message after text message your appointment has been confirmed. Not until I walked in the office was I told that they may not be able to see me because they had not confirmed eligibility. I let them know I was willing to pay for the visit. But said I would have to make another appointment after the insurance was approved after sitting there for over an hour.You would think that the Dentist would have seen me at least to go over my options. They made me feel like I was trying to steal from them and run out and not pay. I just drove a hour and a half hoping to get information on what I have been dreaming about to have comfortable dentures that wasn't going to hurt me anymore.It is really hard to find a Dentist that offers 3D printed dentures but I think I will keep looking and maybe they will treat me a little better than Willow Pass Dental. read more

I broke off my molar while having lunch - old filling finally cracked the crown. My previous dentist had an appointment 3 weeks out to put a temporary cap and then do a final cap. I was aware of Dr. Taimur Khan's practice but it was 40 minutes away from my home. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a shot ... and I was pleasantly surprised. I was initially very happy with the service provided by Willow Pass. Until I had a crown placed that failed in less than a year. It was clearly put in very badly and it cost me double to go to a new dentist to get it fixed. As I sat at my tooth cleaning the Hygienist pointed at my xray and the gap under the crown that was causing me problems and to myself I knew that that was a crown they placed. It wasn't even double checked at the time to make sure that it wasn't their work. I knew it based on my memory. They have actual medical records. Later I informed them of my issues and they did offer to fix the problem at no charge but I cannot take a second chance on a pretty bad failure. Their mistake cost me double and I was willing to pay it to get it fixed the right way by a different dentist. Second issue was with one of my child's fillings. It was also put in badly by the same dentist. It also failed in less than a year and it failed in a way where a part of her tooth broke off. So again paid extra to go to a new dentist to get it fixed correctly. I truly did enjoy my teeth cleanings with the hygienist as did my children but sadly I will not be able to come back again. read more

Wow, what an experience. From the moment I walked in to the time I left. I've never felt more welcomed at a business, let alone a dental office! Alright, admittedly, it had been some time since I had last went to a dentist, I'm talking 10 years or so, and I was pretty nervous. When I walked into the office, I was immediately met with a warm greeting from pretty much all the staff in sight and then told exactly what to do. I was a new patient and the whole check-in process took maybe 10min. As soon as I finished filling out the paperwork, my hygienist was ready and waiting for me. SHE. WAS. AWESOME! From X-rays to cleaning, she was Super informative, really professional and sweet as pie (not in a fake way either). You can tell the staff just really enjoy their jobs there. 10/10 Culture for sure!! Dr. K came in shortly after having my cleaning, re-examined, gave me some recommendations and resources to aid in keeping my pearlys white and gums healthy, really nice guy. After we wrapped up at check out, there was something funky with my insurance so the manager helped me navigate through that and called them on my behalf--yet another gem in this office! Had I known this is what I could expect, I wouldn't have been nervous to begin with. If you are looking for a highly competent dentist and amazing staff, look no further! My family and I have been going to this Dental office since my children were toddlers. Unfortunately, Willow Pass Dental Care lost their Pediatric dentist several years ago and became a General Dentistry so we had to switch to a different dentist for our kids. Though the several pediatric dentists we went to were acceptable (well most) , they weren't as extraordinary as Willow Pass Dental care! We are so happy that our kids are now teenagers so we are all back here! What I appreciate the most about Willow Pass Dental care is the whole staffs' sincerity when talking and caring for their patients. They are very accommodating and flexible when It comes to scheduling or rescheduling appointments. They also communicate very well and are very patient when discussing treatment plans or even when there is a billing issue . From the Dentists to all the staff (hygenists, dental assistant , front office staff and billing staff) each an everyone of them are true professionals! This was my first visit to this Dental Office and this was my children's first dentist appointment ever. My son who had trauma/fear since being hospitalized at 6 months, to the point that any visit even a hair cut will have him terrified. I had read the reviews and decided this was the place to take my kids after hearing that they specialized with children with anxiety. I must say without any doubt that this is the place to take your children. The staff are amazing. What made experience 5 stars was the customer service. The service I received from Cynthia at the desk was EXCEPTIONAL! She went above and beyond to help me figure out my insurance. She made sure I had all the information needed to continue to get treatment for my children. I was so moved by her care and compassion that I cried in my car after my children's appointments. From scheduling the appointment, to checking in when I arrived, and even when I was leaving, the office team was just delightful. My dentist is Dr. Donato and he's fantastic. I have multiple chronic health issues, so my care can be a bit complicated, and he was invested in my entire health - not just making sure I left with clean teeth that day, but advising me regarding a variety of potential health issues that could be related to my dental care. His holistic approach meant a lot to me. The office also gave me a number of referrals to other providers (for a biopsy/ortho), and worked with me through the process of finding ones that take my dental insurance. Not even worth one star! I called the office as my Dentist had just referred me. The gentleman answered the phone and told me he was in my network. When I asked if they could do a pre-authorization for a simple cap on tooth number four, he insisted that I had to have a consultation. In other words, if I didn't pay to come in, he could not help me with my information. He told me he could take my information, but he would just place it on a post it and it would be "floating around" somewhere. He was extremely rude. When I called back to get information on the office a girl answered and asked what the problem was. She gave me the office information and I disconnected the call. The gentleman called me back after that and asked for my information and he would try to run my pre-authorization. I told him I found another office to help me, and I didn't need my information sitting somewhere on a Post-It Note. I would not recommend this office to people if you would like a pre-authorization of your dental work!! read more

Wow! If you want a thorough cleaning of your teeth, Shabnam does an excellent job. The tartar tends to build up on my teeth quickly. She's a very thorough hygenist, blasting the calculus/tartar off with the water pick type tool and jumping in a scraping with manual tools as well. I went in first for a regular checkup & cleaning, then a root canal the following week. The front desk staff, my hygienist, primary dentist, and endodontist were all experienced in their work and made the operation go very smoothly. This was my first time having a root canal, and I was anxious going in. But from start to finish it was obvious everyone involved was confident in the process, and they made sure to explain every step as they went along. The technology to have the crown created was astounding! Payment was pretty straightforward. I have Delta Dental, who covered a fair portion of the procedure, and the office was able to easily set up financing for my out-of-pocket. Time (and myown followup) will ultimately tell the quality of the work, but I'm very satisfied with my experience here and will be making Willow Pass my primary dentist. read more

***DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF MONEY and like to be treated bad when you disagree with the treatment plan*** Friendly dentist, the RDA cleaning my son's teeth was VERY friendly (I really did like her) but I had to switch to another dental facility and file a grievance complaint for these reasons: 1. They will screw you by creating a treatment plan outside of what your insurance covers. THEY WILL FIND WAYS TO MAKE YOU PAY OUT OF POCKET. 2. The RDA stated that they do offer silver and white fillings. But Billing (Mary Ellen) stated that they do not allow silver fillings on permanent teeth in this facility due to mercury concerns. Yet they will allow it on a 4 year old child. 3. They do NOT take dual insurance. My daughter has dual coverage and they refused to take that! 4. My son is 4 years old and they were forcing me to have him partially sedated vs the laughing gas. I called other dental facilities for a 2nd and 3rd opinion and they agreed with me. Low and behold, I look at my insurance and for my son to be sedated, it would cost me $200 out of pocket. HMMM...now I see why they were forcing me to have him sedated. Friendly dentist, friendly RDA, unfortunately Mary Ellen from billing is rude. She gave me an attitude in the office (after waiting another 40 minutes to go over my daughter's treatment plan) BECAUSE I called her out when I caught her lying to my face. Mind you, I've seen many dental X-RAYS and I know how a decayed tooth looks like on an X-ray (I would always bug my previous dentists to show me lol). And of course...they claimed that all my son's teeth was rotten. MMHMM! I think I would know if it was. Never again. TOO EXPENSIVE! read more

I wanted to report that after the Dr. saw my review he contacted me and has been working with me to resolve my tooth issue. He has changed some of his office staff but there are a few that remain that either need to be retrained or replaced. He seems to be in the process of trying to replace his staff with qualified staff but I know it's not easy. As of today. I'm comfortable that he will continue working with me until my problem tooth is fixed and there is no more pain. I have at least 2 more visits to go. We shall see how the office changes during this time and after that time I will edit my review once again. But I did want to at least add a couple of stars and some positive notes as the doctors there are working with me to fix things. That's says a lot. The first time that I sent to this office I wrote the following: I have to admit no office is perfect but this office is absolutely horrible. The front end and back end staff have no clue as to what's going on and who is doing what. I called weeks ago to schedule a root canal, gave them all of my insurance info and when they called to confirm my appointment, I found out that the guy who I spoke with only booked a consultation even though he confirmed when I made the appointment that I needed to have everything done in one trip. Sadly, no one there had a clue. Then I find out that my insurance will not cover and I had for fork out $2,200. This all due to them not paying attention and prepping for a root canal. Dr. Amanda and her assistant were very nice and performed the necessary work. The technician that came to take my X-rays had no clue which tooth she was supposed to X-ray. The other office staff that prepared the estimates tried to help with an X-ray and was stretching my mouth when it was clear the film was not going to fit and her response was that I was numb so I shouldn't feel it. Well, I definitely did and the corner of my mouth is cut. Then the front end staff was giving me the wrong medication. One that I would have had an allergic reaction to. If I did not catch it then, well you can only imagine. This office needs to clean house with their front end and back end staff. If it wasn't for the intense pain that I was and going out of state in the next few days I would have walked out. I asked to speak to the owner but imagine that, they completely ignored my request. Thus, this review. I sincerely hope they read this and take action to resolve all of their issues. read more

Willow Pass Dental Care is one big skyscraper of awesomeness. From the staff to my primary orthodontist, Dr. Perera, they have been a godsend. Prior to 2 years ago, I was getting treatment through Western Dental. Long story short, they were horrible and even pressured me into getting a tooth pulled that should've never been pulled in the first place. Dr. Perera took on my case and used every trick in the book to close the gap where the missing tooth use to be, corrected my alignment and made sure I left with a perfect smile just in time for my college graduation. Giving this rating due to my experience with crown and dental implant. They use a machine to make your implant or crown and it does not fit perfectly. I had bad experience with the criwn, i have to chew on my left side and not able to eat or drink regular food or drinks I used to eat or drink. I had to go back many times and spent so many wasted time waiting without any good results. My life has turned upside down not able to use my teeth before these procedures.
