Let me start off by saying I haven't been able to stop looking in the mirror since I left this office. I had a broken crown on one of my front teeth. It was hideous to say the least and extremely embarrassing. Once I worked up enough courage I decided to schedule an appointment with Diablo Valley Dental Office. This was extremely easy and quick. The receptionist is friendly and very sweet. Dr. Petrush is in a league of his own, let me tell you! I've had crowns put on four of my front teeth, one root canal and one of these crowns needed to be redone. My point is I am no stranger to getting that, Oh so horrific, shot in my gums. Ya, not this time. It was not an issue with this Dentist. I never thought that I would experience this and NOT know I was experiencing it until it was 3/4 of the way done. I was in the chair, comfortable and relaxed by his conversation. I didn't feel judged, only reassured that it was fixable. He removed my old crown with the quickness and skillfully. No aggressive tugging. I spent about 2 hours in the chair maybe a little less. This was such an easy appointment. I brought earphones so I could listen to music while he worked on my tooth and I didn't even use them. That's how relaxed I was probably because Dr Petrush was so gentle during the whole procedure. I'll be returning to this office for the rest of my dental care. Dr Petrush changed my outlook on going to the Dentist, no more stress or procrastination due to scheduling a Dentist appointment. read more

Normally I don't do too many reviews unless they are really good or really bad. This review is really good. Dr. Petrush and staff truly make up the the best dentist office I have been too and the best dental experience I have ever had. Both Dr. Petrush and Dr. Elek are amazing at their profession. I have had two crowns done in the past few months, they do everything at their office, so you only have to go once and your done. From Mayra at the front desk to Tamika, Dr. Petrush's assistant, everyone was pleasant, great to deal with and truly a team effort all of the way. I highly recommend this dentist office! read more

My insurance changed causing me the to need to find another dentist. I heard about this dental office on Nextdoor with a positive review. After looking them up on Yelp and seeing more positive reviews I decided to make an appointment. I was impressed. This office has very friendly, professional staff. The office followed Covid protocol. Everything was explained well and all my questions answered. I would definitely recommend this dental office and will be going back in the future. read more

I have been going to Diablo Valley Dental since they purchased the practice and I would never go anywhere else. They have updated, modern facilities and provide excellent personalized dental care for their patients. The front staff and support staff are wonderful and Dr. Petrush and Dr. Elek are excellent dentists. True experts in their field. My experiences there have been amazing. They truly care for their patients. They do not pressure patients into having dental work done. When providing dental work for their patients they are very understanding and they listen to the patient's needs. If there is any indication of pain during a procedure, they make sure the patient is comfortable before proceeding. After surgery the staff follow-up with patients to make sure they are doing well. The receptionist was good with welcoming, scheduling appointments, reminders and checking with insurance. I chose this clinic as this came under the in-network dentist with my insurance provider. I went for regular checkup and the dentist said I needed deep cleaning. Christine (hygienist) did cleaning on half the side and she was really good, made me comfortable and minimum pain with the shots. Other half side was done Elek Monika. She was fast. However, she made me nervous as the shots was little painful. During the whole procedure I was a little tensed as there were some occasional pain and she didn't make me comfortable as she was pretty quiet. Prices seemed ok. Had to pay about $100 out of pocket for deep cleaning. No appointments on saturdays and not comfortable with Elek and thus one star less. read more

I've been going to Dr. Petrush since I was a kid so over 15 years at least. Even though I've moved to San Francisco, I still come out to Pleasant Hill to get my dental care done because I enjoy it so much. They're facilities are really nice and up to date and the staff is friendly and great. What more do you really need in a dentistry? Highly recommend! read more

I don't usually write reviews although I use Yelp for finding service providers all the time. I was moved to write because of the demeaning and condescending treatment I received at Diablo Valley Dental (not to be confused with Diablo Valley Dental Care, which I assume is run by different people since it has a different address). What happened was several months ago, and I am still upset (and looking for a new dentist), so I figured it was worth writing about. The office is nice, feels sort of like a spa when you walk in, and the front staff is excellent. I also had a nice relationship with my dental hygienist who did the actual cleaning the couple of times I went here. I had an OK experience with the dentists, too (Dr. Elek and Dr. Petrush). However, on my last visit I was denied service on the grounds of refusing to have an x-ray taken. The reason for my refusal? I was 7 - 8 months pregnant. They insisted, saying since I had refused the previous time as well (about 6 months prior, when I was already pregnant) that now it was either x-rays or nothing. The way this was delivered was not professional to say the least. The dentist would not even come discuss the matter with me, but had the dental hygienist go back and forth between us. I was made to feel like a petulant child that is simply refusing to do what grown-ups think is best out of a whim; not a 35-year old professional woman who has concerns about her pregnancy. I also felt bad for the dental hygienist, who was visibly not comfortable with the situation either. I was even more incensed by this because I had had to use my quickly diminishing sick time from work for the appointment, and miss hours of work when I was already counting hours due to impending maternity leave; so their refusal to treat me cost me money and time for no reason. If I had known ahead of time they were going to take x-rays (and refuse all service if I refused x-rays) I would have simply rescheduled this appointment until I had had my baby and had been able to arrange for a babysitter. Now, they are losing a customer and getting a bad review. To improve: Let your patients know ahead of time when x-rays are expected so they can prepare or reschedule. Take the time to talk to your patients (as it implies in your own mission statement on your website!) to explain what is expected and quote the medical reasons for it - don't sent the dental hygienist to deliver ultimatums! Also, if a patient can't be treated on the day of the appointment due to a communication failure on your part, have some sort of compensation at hand - it's not like any of us do this for fun, but it often takes significant arrangements to be able to make it to an appointment. read more

I've been going to Diablo Valley Dental for about 7 yrs now and I LOVE them! The front staff is amazing! They know me by name and always ask about my family. They make me feel very welcome. The office is very up to date with all the modern amenities. Including digital x-rays. My hygienist is the best! She only works on Wednesdays but I always make sure to book my appointments with her. Dr. Petrush is is very warm and friendly. He's always cracking jokes and makes me feel at ease in the dental chair. He never forces any unnecessary dental procedures on me and always makes sure I have enough dental insurance to cover whatever procedures I may need. I recommend them to anyone in need of a dentist in the Diablo Valley area. I have several very satisfied friends and co-workers who see both Dr. Petrush and Dr. Elek. read more

Great dentist and pleasant environment. I went back to Dr. Petrush, after transferring to a closer dentist after moving to Oakland. I returned to the office after finding my new dentist did not have the expertise or caring this office provides. Dr. Petrush has very up to date procedures. I've been going here for over a decade - I continue to be impressed by the quality of the work and professionalism and friendliness of the team. The team of Drs. Elek and Petrush provide superior care. The hygienists are top-notch - methodical, cautious and thorough. Most importantly (at least for me) is how at ease everyone here makes patients feel. Their office is warm, but efficient. The administrative staff is great - very capable and easy to work with. Making patients feel comfortable is a high priority for this practice. When coupled with the excellent dental care they provide, I really couldn't ask for anything more. After having gone through a number of dentists over the years, I am happy to report that what Diablo Valley has to offer is ideal. read more

I've been going to this dental practice since before Drs. Petrush & Elek joined/bought it. My experiences have always been great--well, as great as they can be, considering I get very stressed dealing with dentists. The staff is always very friendly & I always feel well taken care of. Both Dr. P & Dr. E have worked on my teeth & I've had no problems. There is a lot of money in my mouth, since I grew up in a rural area with no fluoride, & I want to take care of my teeth as much as possible. There is no pressure to have procedures done sooner than necessary. When I do need fillings or crowns, I'm always made comfortable with nitrous & enough novocaine (or whatever they use). Any indication if pain & they make sure to numb me up more, even if it causes a small delay. I've referred friends who are seriously dentist-phobic & they've stayed as patients. I'm very pleased that with these folks' help, I can continue to do something I really love--eating! read more
