Met up with a friend for a good Wisconsin Sunday brunch. The 501 is a long time local establishment going through a few owners over the decades. It was a quiet morning there and we were hopeful that would mean a great breakfast. The staff was super friendly and quick but the food really lacked. I had the classic-just a basic 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and an English muffin. I ordered the eggs medium and they were so hard. The muffin was cold and the hash browns were greasy old and inedible. I think this place does deserve a stop-even of its just for drinks. It's an iconic locale and great history. read more

I had not been to the 501 Tavern (formerly Seasons) in North Hudson since it opened last fall. I called and found out that Friday night is a fish fry featuring cod. I like walleye, but I miss being able to get English style fish and chips. I called and made a reservation with Christina, showed up at the reservation time (6:00), and was seated promptly. The fish and chips were excellent; the service by Rachel was outstanding. Mako and Liza were both very graciously helping to serve, and it was a great experience. 21/2 stars. If you're looking for good food, this is the place for burgers or a fish fry. If you're looking for a dining experience or atmosphere it is not, everything was very odd. No hostess, so you seat yourself. At least 10 minutes before anyone came to the table. Took our order Along with the drink orders. Never offered to bring any water. Another 10 minutes before we got our drinks. Food came missing breadsticks and tartar sauce. Asked a few times for at least the tartar sauce. Supposed to be all you can eat, but never offered more. We didn't want to ask because there was only one waitress. read more

A friend and I stopped in here while out on our motorcycles. The first thing that hits you is how authentically "Rustic" everything looks. There's a double fireplace in the middle and this upper level over looks the bar below. We were greeted immediately by Mako, very friendly, and shown to a table. The food was delicious and prompt, and the whole experience was quite pleasant. Once again the service was great, you could really tell they were looking out for you, and that's something I really do appreciate. I understand they have plans to expand the menu, maybe have prime rib on Saturdays. I will definitely be back for that ! read more

Excellent!! If you're looking for a comfortable place to have a drink/beer and grab something to eat - this is the place. First, don't let the outside fool you. The inside is rustic and inviting. The downstairs is even better. We ordered beers and started with the nachos with grilled chicken. The beers were cold and the nachos were spot on. Next we moved on to the main entrees. Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and the Kielbasa Dinner. All four entree's were well portioned, hot when served, and very tasty. There were zero complaints from anyone at the table. As to the service - another 5.0. I'm thinking our waiter was also the owner. i have lived near this bar for many years. i bet i have seen 4 or 5 bar and restaurants come and then go. i lost count really. i went to a couple different iterations over the years since its close to my home. all the previous occupants of this building? well, there is a reason they are all gone. this is the first bar and restaurant at this location that i think is going to survive. the reason why is that in terms of food? i was extremely impressed with the fried cod, and i am going back to try other things just because for local bars? i think this place is the winner for food read more

I don't know why I haven't eaten here sooner! It's within a mile of my house. We went for family breakfast, due to word of mouth that they have great food. They're known for their walleye song ordered the Blackened Walleye and eggs. The walleye was FANTASTIC, my over easy eggs were done PERFECTLY. My hubs had the huevos rancheros and they were the best I've ever had. My hubby said he's going back for it!! I had a Bloody Mary which in my opinion is the best one in town. My son had the French toast made with a thick sliced cinnamon bread and it wAs delicious! I can't wait to try lunch and dinner! read more

We've had a lot of good times in the basement of Seasons Tavern! We've also been to a few of their buffets for holidays. They have really good drinks, and a wonderful beer selection. Most recently, we were there and my spouse tried their first Moscow Mule! It was delicious, and exciting. We also had a wonderful stout that we hadn't heard of before, Rhoades Scholar from South Shore Brewery in Ashland, WI. It was wonderful! They do have a lot of trouble with their food sometimes. On our most recent visit, they were out of spinach, so we ordered something else. But then we got our original order without spinach anyway. In fact, we got both. Our server did a great job of making it right, and we were happy with it. In fact, I think it was the best service we have ever received! It can be very hard to get the timing correct when people are there watching football, as we were. But we were waited on throughout, and then got our bill in the 4th quarter as expected! So that was really nice. We used to go here with my mother a lot, when she lived in Hudson. But she moved, and we don't go here as much anymore. (She loved the fish tacos here! So if you like fish tacos, and you go to Seasons, have one for her.) read more

I'm sitting at home eating my cold dinner because there were two large parties tonight and the kitchen couldn't handle..... Ordered 45 minutes after arriving. Salads 1 hour 30 minutes later... The waitress was so nice to bring our kids a little extra to hold them off.. hubby and kids got their food but kids didn't want to eat now cause they filled up on bread. My food never came till hubby was done eating and I asked it to be packed to go. Really felt bad for the staff but this place should have delt with these large parties different! Give them a minimised menu, not booked two at a time. Have the kitchen staff to accommodate the restaurant capacity or stop seating. They were also out of ceaser dressing, a bunch of potatoes sides. Sitting at the bar makes a huge difference---I will say the stools are not the most comfortable for this short lady but I enjoyed myself and the bartender Brad was personable and made the experience good. He knows how to mix a drink. The meals we witnessed coming out this Friday night looked fresh and good. I just had a snack and my partner in crime had the wild rice soup which is house made absolutely delicious. I think we will be going back again and again. read more

Looked for a good Walleye Fish Fry Friday meal and thought I had found it...my mistake was thinking the AYCE Fry was the Walleye. The menu I found was not completed with the details that it is cod only....and the info on Yelp indicated the AYCE started at 3 but it is actually 4...so I waited and ordered the fried cheese curds since I was an hour early. They are excellent with a standard ranch dip and the smoky chipotle ranch was amazing. Skipped the AYCE and opted for a Walleye sandwich with onion ring side. Onion rings were off the charts good~the batter is the best I've ever had and the onion was thick rings that took on the batter perfectly. Sandwich is served on a nice sub type bun with lettuce, tomato and pickle. I opted for no cheese. Didn't even eat the bun, could not have if I wanted to!! Too much food is not a bad thing...fish was battered but not the same as the cheese curds and onion rings. Lighter and seasoned and very tasty and perfectly cooked. Definitely would come back for the Tuesday night AYCE Walleye and only order that!! Also: Chelsea provided excellent, friendly, and attentive service. Entire staff friendly and cheerful. read more

This place is excellent in every respect. You'll feel like you are in a cabin in the north woods! And just as welcomed by the great/homey service as well. The main bar and a lot of seating is in the lower (underground) level, which makes it feel super comfy/cozy, and there is a large opening above the bar which opens to the upper level. The upper level is less casual dining and a small bar without seating. These guys serve amazing breakfast until 1pm on Sat & Sun. I had the grilled salmon and eggs Benedict with a side of "Tavern Spuds" which are diced potatoes, bacon, onion and cheese. Everything was incredible. And quite surprising. The bloody marys are excellent (and CHEAP - $3.50 until 5pm). They are homemade and come with meat & cheese. The TV situation could be better...there are two small ones on either side of the bar and one large one on the other end but the viewing angles from the bar seating isn't too good. Hope they invest in bigger/more TVs. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items. If you haven't been here, you're missing out on one of the best breakfast/brunch spots in the entire Twin Cities/Hudson area. Worth the drive from Woodbury, St. Paul, etc. read more

Sat for about 10 minutes before we started to get up and finally waiter came by. He took our order and drinks and we had to flag down for refills. Our order came and they made French toast instead of pancakes so it was going to be a wait. My family started eating and about 10 minutes later waiter came by and said here's your toast??? Thought this place closed down last February. We were surprised to hear that it hasn't yet. If fact, when we asked around about Seasons Tavern we heard that they finally hired a Chef, and he had a new menu out. Over the last few months we have been in to try the new food. We tried a whole bunch of the new items: Fettuccini Alfredo is dynamite, so rich and creamy. Another pasta which I can't pronounce, either could our server, tomato based, outstanding! Spinach artichoke appetizer was out of this world. We were hesitant to try the nachos, remembering what they used to be. Get the nachos! So fresh and tasty. Also it was a great size, unlike the previous ones which were huge and boring. The burgers were juicy and big cooked to medium rare. The blackened salmon is the best I've had, especially in this area. Salads could use some work though. Caesar dressing was over the top good. Every time we were in the food came out quickly and hot. Which is a great improvement from the past. The reason for the low rating is- While the kitchen seems to be headed in the right direction, the rest of the place is stuck in 4 years ago. Ratty booths and bar stools. Dirty bathrooms, with broken doors and fixtures. The service hasn't improved one bit. Same old bartenders lumbering around talking and not making drinks. Painfully slow service. Still looks like nobody cares about the place. Wanted breakfast a few weekends ago. Waited to long for a couple simple bloodys. At one point while waiting around, we watch the lady bartender go around the corner, come back with a mouth full of food, chomping away. Didn't wash her hands before making other people drinks. We decide to leave after being grossed out. As we were leaving the owner asked if everything was ok. We didn't take the time to explain to him why we left, because if it hasn't changed in 5 years, why would our experience tchange it now? Plus the over powering smell of marijuana and patchouly in the restaurant was offensive to us. We want to try the breakfast one day soon. Maybe we will sit at a table. November 2019 Update. How can a place go from pretty bad for years then to very good food for a couple of months, Then back to crappy? Something seriously happened here in the worst way possible. Food - 4 stars Bloody Mary - 4.5 stars (high praise for me) Atmosphere/service - 5+ At the start of a long day's driving home from Minneapolis, we needed a good solid breakfast meal and the Yelp app steered us to Season's in North Hudson. I didn't even know there was a North Hudson, but there is. Beware, - the Yelp address is wrong, or at least when you click on directions, it takes you to the address in regular Hudson, not north type. Just look at the map and you'll do better. Aaaaanyway, we walk in on a frigid northern winter day, first ones in the place. This place has a nice homey, cabin type feel to it - exposed beams and a general northwoods kind of feel. Lots of Packers stuff, fish on the walls, that kind of thing. So far I'm liking it. Then, things got awesome. Walking into the bar area, the bartender - a 40-something lady who seems like your mom says 'Morning! Two Bloody Marys for you guys?' I shit you not those were her exact words. We must have a look about us or something. But anyway, she was spot on because HELL YES we want some Bloody Marys, how did you know? So Sconnie. So awesome. Just after sitting down and while the bartender is whipping up our drinks, a waitress comes to greet us and her first question is what kind of beer we want for our chaser. You can choose any beer on tap and it's the same price. This is nice - other places will only let you have the low-end stuff. The Bloody was very tasty - spicy enough without being salty and with classic Sconnie garnish - beef stick chunk, cheese chunk, pickle, olive. Awesome. Food - I would say above average quality - good, tasty comfort food breakfast. Nothing too fancy on the menu, but everything done well. I had the basic plate with sourdough bread (LOVE places that have sourdough as a choice), bacon, eggs and tavern spuds. You MUST try the tavern spuds. How could potatoes, bacon and onion covered in cheese not be a good thing?? So tasty. Sean tried the Cajun benedict which was andouille sausage instead of ham and a different kind of sauce. It was good but I was expecting an actual sausage split in half rather than a patty. Just me though, it was definitely tasty. We were the forgotten ones. We were a party of seven on a busy Friday fish fry night. Four adults and three kids under 10. Wait for a table was only about twenty minutes, unfortunately the wait at the table for someone to show up and offer us beverages was longer than that. We were never quite sure who our actual server was as we eventually had multiple people piece mealing our service together. It happens sometimes....being the forgotten ones. (Hint...if you come to my table and apologize for keeping us waiting, at least spray some perfume on yourself so I can't smell that you were just outside having a smoke break....I would be much more forgiving if I didn't know that) Once we got our food, amazing fish. Just how fish fry should be, light batter and thick pieces of fish so you can taste the fish not just the batter. Weirdly the tartar sauce was exceptional. I'm not sure what you can do to jazz up tartar sauce but they did it. We will be back for the food and to give the service another chance. read more

Love this place! My husband and I tried it out six months ago and now we keep going back. The owners have went above and beyond to make sure the experience is a positive one. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel as if you have stepped into the Northwoods and start to relax. We usually eat in the den (downstairs) because we like the cozy, old supper club/speakeasy feeling that it gives (not to mention the hubby likes the popcorn from the bar), but even upstairs is nice as well. The wild rice soup is fantastic along with any of their steak, walleye or my personal fav the walleye cakes. Did I mention their Friday night fish fry is fantastic? It's busy on those nights so get there early, but don't let that worry you about the food delivery. It's hot, quick and delicious! The last time we were there entertaining out-of-state guests, I noticed that even the owners were out running food and having a blast doing it; they clearly care about their business and staff--and it shows! read more

I used to come her at every weekend when it was Cabin Fever. Now the name has changed, the prices have increased and the staff is not friendly at all. The quality of food does not even seem up to par. We ordered an appetizer which came out about 5 minutes later. About 20 minutes after that, the waitress finally returned to take out order. When our food did arrive, we needed a refill on drinks but she just dropped the food and left. We ended up asking for refills when needed. Next, we had to hear a woman complaining how she never received her meal, only her salad. The staff told her they would bring it out, however she was upset since the rest of her party had finished eating and was ready to go. The worse part was watching the staff member laugh about it with another employee. I will not be wasting my time making the trip to Seasons Tavern. read more
