She appears to be a very hard-working woman and is generally polite and soft-spoken. However, everything is fine until a concern is raised about work not done properly. I have never questioned her pricing. On two occasions, she charged me extra for correcting her work that was not done properly the first time. Most recently, the lower half of my jeans was altered incorrectly and ended up too tight. When I raised this issue, she became upset and claimed I had gained weight, which is not true. She also accused me of not wanting to pay, despite the fact that I have always paid on time and do not owe her anything. Instead of addressing the problem, she insisted the work was correct, kept the additional charges, and told me not to return. She can do anything from hemming your pants/slacks/jeans, to your wedding gown, to your Indian/Pakistani/ cultural outfits, to adding the matching red rubber to the balls of all of my Louboutins in order to prevent slippage and scratching up. This place does it all! My family and I have been loyal customers for 20+ years. Tina and her crew have done amazing jobs on my father's suits, my jumpsuits, many dresses, not to mention all of my work suits. She has saved many occasions for me. I have 2 pilot blazers that are the same size. The newer one is a bit tight while the older one fits fine. I brought them both in asking if it would be easier and less expensive to take the 4th stripe from the new jacket and sew it on to the original and better fitting jacket. They said no, it would be no problem to let out the new jacket. When I went to pick it up today, I was charged $60. They said they "added fabric". When I told them I wanted the less expensive option, they basically shrugged their shoulders. The jacket does fit better now, but I won't be back having been charged that much for an alteration when exchanging the stripes on the cuffs would have sufficed. Had they told me adding fabric and charging $60 would have been. necessary, I would have insisted on swapping the stripes. read more

Have brought quick fixes here before for my shoes and service was fine . But recently brought a pair of Louboutins and I'm very unhappy with the repair work. This business should absolutely not accept designer shoes if they don't know how to do the work needed. I brought in simple black heels to get rubber sole placed to replace the wear and tear. I've had many pairs brought to different shops and always perfect job. When I picked up I was so shocked to see how sloppy the sides were, very rough and the rubber on bottom is extremely long , crooked, and just a terrible job. I brought them back in to complain and they said they would fix. Picked back up and the sides were finally cleaned up, still a little bit of scraps on a side where he went in to fix, but the rubber bottom is just NOT how it's done. I even brought in 4 other pairs to show example. They tried telling me this is how it's done, sorry I hate to complain but someone who has multiple pairs that were replaced I can truly say it's not. I should of just waited till I was in city to bring to a place that knows how to handle designer shoes. Please save your loubs and do not bring them here to get fixed. I've been to this place many times, and so has my family. I cannot stress enough how amazing this small company does at their job. I have needed many dresses and clothes altered in my life from downsizing to upsizing and they never falter. From taking in sizes to fixing my most loved shirts in the wardrobe for their "wear and tear" they can fix it all. I was most worried about a dress as a bridesmaid that didn't fit my bust, which was all sequins, and the staff and main seamstress never made me feel nervous about the process. The dress fits beautifully and I can't thank them enough for their professionalism and gorgeous jobs they do. They are a small "Mom and Pop" shop but should be given the reviews of a major company. My first experience with this business unfortunately will also be my last. When I picked up two identical dresses ( one black and one white) that I brought in for alterations and tried them on at home I realized that the dresses were still too long.. my fault .. the hem of the dresses had been pinned when I tried them on at the store and I had agreed to the length of the hem at that time. The charge for the hemming of the two dresses was $280.00. I went back to the store with one of the dresses to ask that it be shortened again , fully realizing that there would be a charge for this service. When claiming my receipt before leaving the store, Tina , the woman that I was working with informed me that the the charge for the hemming of the dress would be $200.00. Upon returning home I checked my bank statements and confirmed that on April 2nd I paid $280.00 for the alterations on two identical dresses which means that the cost of alterations for one of those dresses would be $140.00. Tina tried to tell me that I was originally charged $200.00 for one dress and $80.00 for the other... they are identical dresses except for being different colors!!! I called Tina to discuss this with her before I picked up my dress a week later and asked her to check her records to validate that the original payment that I made for alterations on two identical dresses was $280.00 which means that the first time I had alterations on the dress that I brought back I was charged $140.00 and when I came back because I was not not satisfied and needed additional alterations I was charged $200.00.. a $60.00 increase for the same service that was provided in April. Tina showed no regard for my questions and concerns or any understanding of how a customer would have a hard time understanding of being charged $60.00 more for the same job that was done 4 months before. This is not the kind of business that I respect or would choose to return to. read more

Owner was incredibly rude, and when asked about the pricing she kept trying to make up excuses and becames super defensive as to why two dresses that were hemmed up on the bottom were so much for a single layer, and why two of our other dresses that were exactly the same, and not even properly altered, were two different prices!! Don't throw it out!!! The shoes you still love, that bridesmaid dress you don't know what to do with, a throw pillow that's gone flat. The staff here does quality work for fair prices. I had them make me throw pillows, got the fabric from Calico Corners and the inserts from Joanne, and dropped the pieces off here. Beautiful new throw pillows with piping along the sides! They turned a bridesmaid dress into a cocktail dress that I could wear to Christmas parties. Fixed shoes, hemmed clothes. No nonsense and for a decent price. Nice work! read more

I brought a really nice leather jacket in for a zipper replacement and an issue with the collar. The young lady suggested a two way zipper and a small hook and loop under the collar to hold it down. When I went in to pick it up the zipper was done well but instead of the hook and loop under the collar the tailor decided to install a large metal snap without consulting me first. It is now visible on the outside of the collar. It looks terrible and the owner made no compensation whatsoever. That's the last they'll see of me ! read more

This is my average of a couple of visits here. My first visit was disappointing. I brought in an overcoat onto which I wanted some replacement buttons sewn. It was a nice coat, and the existing buttons were sewn with the droopy extra thread between the button and the coat method. I got a quote, showed up on the appointed day, and my coat was not ready. It wasn't even started. They said they would complete it while I waited, which they did. Unfortunately, they sewed the buttons on directly to the coat. I didn't say anything, as I hadn't requested it specifically, but I did have an expectation that they would match the technique already in place. To their credit, they gave me a significant discount since it was not complete in time. My second experience was much better. I brought in a couple of trousers to have altered. They adjusted the waist and hem to fit, and both pairs fit very nicely and were completed on time. Pricing seemed a bit on the higher side of typical. Based on my last experience, I would give them another go. The work was of good quality on those alterations. read more

I have been going to this place for awhile, especially that I lost almost 20 lbs... All my jeans, dress pants don't fit.... All my jeans are expensive... Citizens of humanity etc.... So... I wasn't planning on buying more, but just getting those altered... Anyways.... The only reason I go to this tailor... Is because it's near my house.... The owner Tina... Is only nice to me now, because she saw that I was driving a new Mercedes Benz. Before that, she was always snappy, like she is doing me a favor.... Sooo annoying... I brought my bf here this past weekend... Coz he also lost weight, like 40 lbs... Since he is an executive... His suits are all expensive.... He brought a few suits, matching pants etc.... Tina measured him, and said it will be ready in a few days... A few days later... We called Tina, asking if everything is ready... She said, pick it up a few hours later.... When my bf picked up the clothes.... It was $400.... The alteration price list said... A suit is $35.... Basically, Tina told Ben when she is measuring him... You know what.... This needs to be done, sleeves need to be shortened, neck needs to be adjusted etc...But didn't say each one cost at least $25 freakin dollars. We were sooo mad... We were telling her... You didn't give us a quote... Tina says... I didn't know how much it will be, when both of you left the shop. We said... Then, why didn't you call us, after computing everything... BEFORE starting the job, if we wanted it done or not. Tina says... Well... That's the price, our work is perfection. Moral of the freakin story? Do not leave without an itemized receipt, with a total quote. They will rip you off. Who does that??? I guess every business owner who thinks if you live within this area, they can just charge you whatever.... We told Tina... If you bring your car to any car shop... The car shop will give you a quote, after inspecting everything, before they start the job.... The car shop will need the customer to sign a quote... Then proceed with the job. Tina thinks because no one has complained, or sued her.... That it's ok to do whatever she has been doing for 25 years... Totally wrong.... Be honest, tell each customer, how much work needs to be done, and how much will be the charge.... Sheeeesh... FAIL.... FAIL.... FAIL..... Tina has the audacity to say... I will give you a refund of $80 (which is supposedly $120 refund ) as long as both of you don't ever step in my shop... Seriously??????? Like there's no other tailors around the area.... Wow.... Upon going to pick up a couple pairs of shoes to be repaired to find out they did exactly what I told them not to do!! Language barrier- who knows!?? They are redoing those shoes but when I was paying for them they tried to charge me $50 to lightly fix a couple tiny things!! I will stick to my Darien shoe repair place where everything is almost $5- $10!! I just had a bad experience there and they didn't get it any better here!! I don't even go here that much, but every time I do, it's like walking into a scene from a romantic comedy starring Anne Hathaway as a neurotic bride-to-be who has outgrown her wedding dress due to an allergic reaction to the scones her scheming future sister-in-law (Elizabeth Banks) forced her to eat on the morning of her wedding, so now she needs an emergency alteration before she walks down the aisle to meet her much-older stock trading groom (Aaron Eckhart, in a career-turning role), and the only place open is a tiny shop run by five sassy old Greek women with pins in their mouths and wisdom in their hearts, whose no-nonsense approaches to life help her to realize that she's been in love with her graffiti artist best friend (Joseph Gordon-Leavitt) all along! I did NOT have a good experience w/this business. I had gone to them a few times but the owner is not very friendly. However, I brought a dress back which needed a zipper replacement & two or three weeks later, it broke again. For $30 I expect the work someone does to be correct and if not, to promptly fix it. So, I took it back w/my receipt. The owner, Tanya, was very rude and refused to fix my dress, trying to tell me they never took it in in the first place even though she was the one that originally helped me. I also tried calling and she hung up on me. I would not recommend going here. It's not worth it!! You're better off going somewhere where they appreciate your business and value their service enought to fix something. Negative stars. Very shady practices. Incredibly disorganized. Tried to give me the wrong dress. Explained I had a tight turnaround for an event and inquired before coming in to make sure it was feasible. Had to call multiple times to check on status, and they did not call promptly when it was ready. Brought two dresses in for a hem. Came in to them telling me my bill was $95 after they took a dress in without my asking. My carbon copy receipt clearly said hem only. They wrote more services on their copy after I left the store. When I questioned the miscommunications in the store I was told 1) "Don't complain, you have two nice dresses" 2) "I should be charging you $120". I've honestly never been talked to like this or treated like this anywhere. It was disgusting. read more

I just had a terrible experience trying to return shoestring. The cashier told me yesterday (5-25) if the shoestrings don't fit I could return them. I went to return them today (5-26) and the owner told me I couldn't return.them because they were open and the cashier doesn't own the store and you have to make an exchange. I told her again that the cashier told me I could return the shoestrings I would like to have my money back please. The same cashier was there today and confirmed what she told me to the owner. She still gave me a hard time.after seeing that wasn't backing down, the owner took 4 dollars out of the register, threw it on the table and told me not to come back. Horrible read more

My husband, my four children and I have been customers since Tina Mananses opened the doors of her tailoring and shoe repair shop. We have always had quality work and service. There have been times of the place being very busy, like around prom time and homecoming, when the turn around time was more than a few days and some things get mis placed--for a few minutes-- but Tina and her staff have always solved and stayed on top of things. They care about their customers and their work is good quality. They might be a couple dollars more but when you bring in good quality expensive suits and dress, hey! What do you expect? I trust Willowbrook Tailoring more than I would trust Nordstrom, who does some of the work for free. I have had mediocre work done through other department stores, too. No problem taking it to Willowbrook Tailor, that is for sure! read more

I was never too happy with the alterations. Also, you would think after all these years they would understand their own "filing system" yet everytime I'd pick something up, they search and search. The LAST STRAW for me was when they over shortened my daughter's very expensive volleyball uniform pants. My daughter needed to wear them the next day and so I washed them and then went back. They told me I shrunk them. GUESS WHAT? SPANDEX DOESN'T SHRINK. I even tried to show them an article stating that but as stated by many, they are RUDE and wouldn't listen. I took a bridesmaid dress to this shop for minor alterations. I needed the back and armpits taken in slightly and the straps shortened. When I dropped off the dress, I was told it would be ready in about a week and a half. When I didn't hear anything by that time, I called to find out if my dress was done. The woman who answered the phone insisted that they would have called me. I told her they hadn't called, and she said they must have left a message. They had my cell phone number. The phone was always on during that week and a half, and I had no missed calls or messages from the shop. I went to pick up the dress and was pretty disappointed. The stiches were not straight, and one of the seams was not aligned. There were two loops to use for hanging the dress, and only one had been reattached by the seamstress. The dress was also not pressed, and it was tighter than it was when I was fitted in the store. I could have done the same job if I had the time. An altered dress should look the same as it did when it was purchased--the only difference is that it should fit better. My alterations cost $68. I was surprised that it was so high, considering the relatively simple things that had to be done, but I thought the positive reviews meant that I would see great work. Don't go here! Have gone here twice for shoe repair service. First time no issue; shoes came out fine, nothing spectacular. Second visit, awful! Will not go back! This place quoted my wife $18 to hem a winter coat, I said I wanted to look at some other places prices..when I took the coat back to them after finding out the prices were about the same everywhere the owner said that it's going to be $22 dollars now cause we wasted her time...obviously I wasn't happy about this and she said since you wasted my time now the price is higher and if I don't like it I can go elsewhere...now I'm sorry that in a recession that I price check and in total the "time" I took of hers was 3 minutes for an estimate. Not so sure about some of the poor reviews... I've been going here since I was a teenager and I've always had a pleasant experience. Since I'm shorter than average, I have much of wardrobe tailored. I've had pants, skirts, tops, dresses (formal and casual) tailored here - all with impeccable service and quality. If you ever have a problem, talk to Tina, the owner is very sweet and the easy to work with. The turn around is super quick and can be even faster for emergencies. It's also important to note that they take care of returning customers - I've had a few items that I know should have cost more! PS Don't forget to bring in your shoes! I get my heels replaced here all the time - the cobbler does a really nice job with restoring the leather and heels of my shoes. read more

I have used this place many times with mixed emotions. Upside: They do a good job on more intricate types of garments, but they aren't cheap. Downside: The owner is not very friendly and has a bad attitude if you disagree with her quote. The last time my daughter brought a homecoming dress there I told her I wanted a price first. When she told me the price over the phone, I said "no thanks, I'll pick up the dress". When I called back to tell her I'm coming to get it she told me a staff had already hemmed it at $75. I am extremely hard on my bags and shoes and took a larger purse that looked as if it had been through a shredder, a smaller purse that had a leather tag that was falling off on one side and a few pairs of shoes where the tap in the heel had been worn down to a nub and one patent leather kitten heel had the fabric literally peeling up the heel like a banana. My things came back looking absolutely beautiful and for a job that I thought had to be at least $80 (that was only because I had heard this place was reasonable, I figured $100 easy anywhere else) I was only charged $51.
