Wow. Let me you tell you these people make you feel like family. This shop is a little out of the ways for me but man was it worth it. I believe Willy is the owner and main guy and he's been super friendly the few times I've gone in and a lady there who may be his wife or family member. Both the nicest. He took his time adjusting the bike well after I had paid. A true gem to have here in our own backyard. He adjusted everything and even made sure his weight could hold the adjustments made before letting me leave. The lady helped me get my bike into the car. I have found my bike repair shop. Absolutely the best bike repair shop. They even make custom bicycles. We had three of our bikes repaired. They were dirty, needing a tune-up, and various parts needed to be replaced. We rented a U-Haul trailer from Willy's Bikes on our way back up to the Bay Area. Though our scheduled pick up day was for Sunday, he gave us a call Saturday to say that it's ready for pick up and if we'd like we can pick it up that evening at no extra charge. We decided to take him up on this offer and went to pick up the trailer. Upon first meeting Willy, you could already sense from his friendly demeanor that he was a genuinely nice and honest business owner. In less than 15 minutes, we got all the paperwork taken care of and had the trailer attached to our SUV, with Willy's help of course. Great guy and great business! Honestly willies bikes has got to be one of the most trustworthy, friendliest, non-opportunistic bike shops in all of SF. I have been riding since 2010 and have had over four bikes; which have been all up to par because of willie. I started off with a old beach cruiser, made my way to a pure fix, next a VISP, and lastly a Leader 725 named "the queen." Excellent service! My husband and I brought in our two beach cruisers for tune ups, changing the tubing in the tires and changing the hand grips....i also got a basket all for 120. Just found Willy's bikes over summer and have been going there ever since! I recently started road biking so I came in with a lot of questions. Willy is very knowledgeable about bikes and always goes out of his way to help you and even teach you about how to care and repair your bike. I've gotten a few great bike tips for my road bike from him. I first came in thinking I needed new brakes because they were making a scratchy harsh noise. Willy told me mine were still in great condition and I would not need new ones for about another year! He pointed out that my brakes were really grimy and had a lot of sand/mud deposits stuck in them which was causing the weird noises. He taught me how to clean and adjust my brakes. So I saved a lot of money thanks to his honesty. What makes me go out of my way to come here is Willy's great service, knowledge, candidness, and most of all honesty. Terrible customer service! Willy himself promised that my son's bike would be done by 4pm the same day. They never called to advise me that my son's bike would not be ready until 12pm the next day. The owner Willy could care less that we were leaving for a camping trip the next morning. Willy was cold and mean and told me if I couldn't wait just come get his bike. I recently had Willy's Bikes perform a tune-up on my road bike. He quoted me $50 for a standard tune-up, then lowered it to $45 without any prompting from me. He did an excellent job, and the bike is ready for another set of long road rides. I had checked a couple of other bike shops in the area, one of which wanted $50 and another which wanted $60 for the same tune-up. The shop asking $60 offered another $20 service to repack my wheel bearings, which was not even possible, as they are sealed on this particular bike, a Specialized Allez with Shimano Ultegra parts. When Willy looked at my bike, he noted in passing to me that the wheel bearings were sealed, and so did not require service. In the past, I have gone several times to Willy with assorted questions, and he has given me good advice, directed me to other stores that might have a better part than he can provide on a couple of occasions. Amazing customer service! The people who work here are very friendly. I asked them to install a kickstand on my bike. The cost was about $14 for parts and installation. It took about 10 minutes. I also bought a bell for my bike. And the man who worked there screwed it into my bike for me without me even asking him to do so. Unlike other bike shops, these guys do not try to sell you anything. They have a great selection of accessories at very reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning here again. read more

I brought my road bike and old mountain bike in for some needed repair in February 2020. Willy did a great job of fixing both. The problem is my mountain bike. Willy installed new brakes, new tires and gear shifter on the mountain bike. The bill for both came in close to $300.00. I was happy with both bikes until eight weeks later when my mountain bike gears got stuck. I brought it back and Willy looked at the bike and asked if I rode to Mexico. I admit I rode the bike to Balboa park from Sherman Oaks. He didn't seem to recognize he worked on the bike before. He said it would now need a complete over haul and the cost would be over $200.00. He kept shaking his head and suggested I get a second opinion. Anyway I took the bike home and figured out how to fix the gears. I can only surmise he either didn't like me or my mountain bike. Since both bikes are still going strong I decided on 4 stars despite the confusing lapse in customer service. read more

I have a vintage Schwinn S20 Carbon frame mountain bike that I am very partial to, that I wanted to put Carbon Fiber rims on. They require disc brakes. For the front, this was an easy task, just put front forks with a disc brake mount on them. For the rear, it was a near impossible task! The brake caliper that would fit the frame is long discontinued and impossible to find. I kept buying different adapters on line that supposedly would convert my bike to disc brakes and kept bringing them to Willy one after another with my bike, and one after another, they did not work. I did not want to give up, determined there had to be a way. As long as I was willing to not give up, nor did Willy. After trying 3 different adapters that didn't work, I bought the fourth and final adapter I could find, (a really nice, though the most exoensive of all I tried) adapter made by Chaser, and lo and behold, Willy made it work!! I now have Reynolds AM Carbon wheels on front and back! Needless to say, the customer service and quality of work I received from Willy's bike shop was simply second to none. On top of that, when I got the bill, expecting it to be at least a couple hundred dollars for all the time and work he put into it, I was shocked and pleasently surprised that it was less than half of what I expected to pay! Quality service and reasonable prices, not a combination you find often!! At this point, I cannot imagine having anyone else work on my bike(s), I've become a customer for life! 2 thumbs up!! read more

I needed a new freewheel on my single speed. Current one was rusted and the grooves were damaged so couldn't just take it out with the freewheel tool. Willy initially said he could order the tool for me to attempt to take it out but would cost me a bit more. He took a second look at it and said he could remove it without the tool, would damage the old freewheel but could get it out which was all I needed. Though they were really busy he said he could have it ready in less than 24 hours. Picked it up the next day, with old freewheel removed and new one installed for a reasonable price. He even replaced my old cracked valve cap on my tire without me even asking. Great customer service! Willy will take care of you. read more

I am very sad to write my first review with a 1 star, I placed an order online and after a week of not receiving an email that my item has shipped I sent an email and phoned. My phone call was pleasant with the man I spoke with stating that Stephanie is out at the post office and UPS to get packages in the mail. He stated that my was probably in the mix since it has been a week, but he will have Stephanie call me and confirm. She never called me but sent an email stating that she did not send my package as of yet and the person answering the phone should have never given me that kind of information. My item was coming from there warehouse in NY (what ?? really, you in Cali). I questioned Stephanie saying in my email I assume you have taken my item to the post office and if not since it has been a week and you have already gotten my money could you please over night it since stating on the website it would be delivered in 3 -5 days which is why I called on the first place item not here. Stephanie got so mad that she said to me NO worries will will cancel your order and refund you right away!! This person needs customer service training bad, if someone is asking where a package is they should answer in a nice manner and not cancel because the customer is wondering where it is. I would never shop here again and I love to support mom and pop businesses. read more

My front disk brake fell out on my motorized bicycle. You CANNOT ride a motorized bike without good brakes (believe me!). I did a quick Google search for "bicycle shop near me" and found "Willy's Bikes" was still open. They had replacement disk brake pads, the exact size I needed, and at a reasonable price. Okay, so I take an old bike into Willy's to see if its even worth giving a tuneup. I walk in the door and tell him about my bike so he comes out and says I've got a GREAT bike that is definitely worth tuning up. He didn't try to sell me a new bike which others may have tried to do. He's very knowledgeable and was very quick at assessing what my bike needed to put me back on the road. With the tune up ($40), one new tire ($15) and new grips ($5) it was a huge bargain!! I will definitely going back there for all my biking needs. Oh, and plus with all of that, its going to be done by tomorrow afternoon. Yay! read more

I am not shocked Willy has all 5 stars. We rented a uHaul from this store last minute due to a mess up with another uHaul station. He was friendly and quick, we were out the door in 5 minutes.
