Recently, however, I was stunned by their blatant attempt to scam me! During the exam the doc asked if I'd be willing to wear contacts for 15-20 minutes in the store and provide feedback. No charge of course unless I decided to buy the lenses. After wasting my time for those many minutes, I was told that if I bought the lenses there would be an additional $80-$100 fee on top of the price of the product and on top of the cost of the eye exam - for "evaluation and fitting" of the lenses. I actually laughed at first and rephrased this to make sure the woman at the desk had actually said what she did! When I balked, a salesman ridiculously responded, "we try to give our customers all of the options", whatever that means and "of course if you don't pay for the fitting and evaluation we won't give you the prescription." Again, what? I had never expressed an interest in wearing lenses but the doc thought I'd be a perfect candidate and I thought, well, what do I have to lose? Time I can never get back, for one thing. And, candidate for what? A flagrant rip-off? They surely thought I was either stupid or incredibly gullible. Or did they simply decide that a senior citizen is an easy target? Pearle Vision should be ashamed of using such tactics.
