The Dr was nice; very polite, helpful, and truly cares about what she does. The problem is the front support staff... my appt was at 3:20- I showed up 20min early, yet DID NOT WALK out the door until almost 6pm!! It seemed a bit disorganized and the staff were flustered over a patient record being misplaced, causing someone to be there an extra hour... Never have I had an exam take this long from start to finish; I spent a lot of time sitting waiting to see the DR. This is all after my appt was rescheduled two days prior - they say they called me and left a message, but I have no missed calls or messages from them. This is an update to my previous post and an increase from one to three stars. The owner of this business got in touch with me and we had a good chat. He is truly trying to make things right but I did not change my review immediately. I wanted to make sure that they were actually making these changes at the employee level, not just talking about them. I've seen some better courtesy from their employees and I think some of my concerns have been addressed. Not sure I'd say they are four or five starts yet, but they are better and maybe will get there if they continue to work to change their culture a bit. Worth a look if you need eyeglasses and can afford a higher price for better service than the big box stores, or if you have insurance they take here. read more

This is unfortunate but I feel the need to make other patients aware of the terrible service we have received at this office. My husband received an exam and ordered new glasses at the beginning of January 2020. The glasses were expected to be in the following week. When the next week came & went, we contacted the eye center, they were unsure where the glasses were and why they hadn't returned. This happened every time we called for the next 3 WEEKS.....finally they stated the glasses had arrived damaged and would need to be redone. They charged us $455.00 and a MONTH later, we are no closer to having these glasses! The staff is NOT helpful, they never return phone calls....you always have to call them back. I had my eye appointment at the Blanding location about 4 months ago. It came highly recommended by a family member and a friend. I am very unhappy and very upset about my situation. 4 months later and I still do not have a correct pair of glasses. When I originally went the lady who was supposed to be helping me pick out glasses was extremely uninterested and said she "hadn't done her dishes" for the day so there was not a lot to choose from. Anywho, I found a pair and she said it would probably be about 3 weeks due to COVID. I absolutely understood, no worries, it's a crazy time. Well, it was at the 4 week mark I decided to call since I had not received any kind of update. All the girl on the phone could tell me was the lab was backed up they should be ready by the middle of next week. Again, I said no worries there's a lot going on in the world. I still had an old pair I could wear. I've worked in a Drs. Office and know how stressful it can be. 6 weeks and no update or phone call. So I call again. This lady tells me she will call the lab and call me back. She calls me back and says there's been some trouble doing my transition lenses and they had to outsource to a third party. Okay, that would've been nice to know. Longer story short 8 weeks they're finally in and this lady tells me it's because they got sent back three times as the Rx was not right. I go to pick them up from Blanding location and the girl just hands them to me through my window and doesn't even wait for me to try them on. Now I'm annoyed but thankful I have my glasses. Start driving home and immediately realize they're wrong. I thought maybe I just need to adjust. I've worn glasses for 20 years. So I keep them for two weeks. Probably too long. Call them and tell them they're not working. They get me in for a RX check a week later. Apparently there's nothing wrong with me or my RX it's the labs fault again. Now I'm at the 17 location because no one can figure out the problem. I was also informed I had plastic lenses and that could be contributing to my issues as well. I have not worn plastic lenses since I was a child and no one asked me about poly carb which is what I always get. So now they need to be sent back again. They had to be third party sourced again so 3 weeks later I have my glasses. THEY'RE STILL WRONG!!! I'm furious. I'm over it. I basically just want a refund. I will say the only reason they get 2 stars is because of a technician named Jess. She has been very kind to me and has honestly done her best to correct a problem that isn't hers to correct. I am waiting on a call back today on what we're supposed to do now. It's Friday so I highly doubt I will receive a phone call. read more

This experience with Dr. Reed and his amazing staff was absolutely WONDERFUL! Bringing in both my children, one severely farsighted and one nearsighted, I wanted a thorough eye exam to rule out any future problems and to alleviate fears. That is exactly what we got! The staff was so kind throughout the whole process. The instruments and newest technology was absolutely amazing...we were able to see the optimap of the kids eyeballs...including all of the blood vessels...it was really cool, and it eased my mind completely. The best part was Dr. Reed. What a super sweet man he was, spending so much time with each of my children...like an hour each! He was the first doctor my children have seen that actually told the kids when they got the letters wrong and explained why they may have thought that. My daughter, of course, was thrilled by all of the designer frames, including Vera Bradley and Coach. The prices were not that bad on the designer frames compared to some other opticians. I only wish that they could do the lenses in house rather than wait two weeks, but I know how this goes, especially with insurance. If you are looking to find a doctor's office who cares and who will truly give you the best exam possible, with a future plan of care...than you MUST go to this optician. We will continue with them and highly recommend them to everyone! read more

Like the location, and the doctors are nice and very thorough. I have an issue with the prices they charge so much I can only afford to get one eye worth of contacts and end up ordering them from 1800 contacts. They have such marked up prices on glasses they are not even in the ball park for me to buy from them. read more

The customer service at this location is very poor. I was simply looking to pick out a frame for my six year old and we arrived first. No one acknowledged we were even there. Sitting plain as day right in their faces. They serviced two people before I finally said something and they were rude about me saying something. Finally we were attended to but the technician automatically assumed since I was African American I was using Medicaid to pay for my son's glasses and pointed us directly to that wall were the frames was located without even asking about insurance. Anyway it goes without saying this will be the first and very last time I use this location. I have worked in retail for 13+ years and I have never treated my customers a certain way just because of the the color of their skin. This review will probably be looked past as most of them are but I just wanted to put it out there. Beware of poor customer service and racial profiling at Orange Park eye center. read more

My 5 year old initially had her first eye exam in April 2019. I didn't feel the doctor was patient enough with her and was not comfortable with the entire experience. This was at the Park Location. I then called and spoke to several members of the staff that spoke so highly of Dr. Bowman. I decided to take a chance in July 2019 and have a 2nd exam. Words can not express the gratitude I feel. She took her time with my daughter and was very patient, not to mention the technician that assisted her while giving the exam. The staff at the Blanding/ Clay County location went beyond, beyond the call of duty to welcome us. Jennifer is amazing and so is the staff. Thank you, Thank you. Dr. Hoffman is amazing! I have been coming to him for years and now my wife and children are all patients. If anyone ever asks for a recommendation this is the only place I recommend. They have two different offices that are both convenient to get to. They are great for yearly check ups or emergency visits. My son got something in his eye that was causing him extreme irritation almost a year ago and the got him in quickly and dealt with the issue fast. For being such a bad day for him the staff made it a great overall experience. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. While the Doctors are very good they overbook appointments so expect to wait 30 to 45 minutes past your time. Had to order lenses for my daughter. After a week of not hearing back I called only to find no one had ever placed the order. Once they finally arrived we dropped off her frames and were told to come back in 90 minutes. TWO hours later we returned to find out no one had even touched them. All told it took FOUR hours just to get lenses placed in a frame. They don't have a knowledgeable staff and there is no concern for you as anything other than just one more deposit to their bank account. read more

my mother went there for years, recently she went in for an eye exam to get new glasses. she was told the doctor would not see her unless she had additional testing that she gets on a regular basis. she explained she was only there for an eye exam so she could get new glasses yet they still refused to see her without the additional testing for glaucoma. she goes in on a regular basis to them for her glaucoma that they diagnosed her with and treat her for. Because they refused to see her for a basic eye exam she cancelled the appointment and scheduled a visit somewhere else. she was seen at the new opthamologist Today. They informed her she did not have glaucoma. they checked her twice to make sure since Dr Hodges at Orange Park eye center had previously diagnosed her and had her coming in Atleast 3 times a year for this: so if you want inadequate care this is the place for you otherwise I suggest going elsewhere read more

I have been going to this eye doctor for many years and have never been disappointed. I have seen a few different doctors and they have all been great. I use contacts lens and they have never once tried to talk me into glasses which give me a headache. They have all done everything possible to help me keep my contacts. The most recent has been Dr. Barre and she is AWESOME....very nice, professional and genuinely CARES about her patients. I would recommend this practice to anyone, in fact I have! read more

What a really nice experience here! Dr Kawa is very thorough & professional as well as kind & so up-to-date on her skills. She explains what she's doing and I felt I'd had a great eye exam all around . She helped very much with problems I was having with my eyes! So knowledgeable ! Thank you! Before I ever went into the exam room though ,at the front desk I was greeted by a very friendly, professional staff that assisted me very quickly ,Sandy & Val were very pleasant & helpful .The technician Nelson is kind and professional as well as quick & all around top notch in his skilled procedures and with a bonus of a nice sense of humor for my goofiness. Dr Kawa's assistant scribe Nikki was very nice & pleasant & skilled professionally as well & quick & sweet for a bonus.
