They have an extensive bulk foods selection that you can buy by the pound. In the bulk bins section, you'll find the best Japanese peanuts. Their baker's bagels are the best around. Heads up on the bathroom cleanliness. I went into the Denton WinCo the other morning and as I walked in, I noticed an employee walking out of the area. As I entered the restroom I noticed toilet paper all over the floor, unflushed toilets and something running down the front of the toilet bowl that had obviously been there awhile. It was truly disgusting! I had maybe only used their restroom once before so I can't remember if this was their usual situation or if it had just been neglected. Whichever it was, it made me not want to buy their store prepared foods as I usually buy. Instead I opted for canned and frozen items until I can stop by somewhere else. I don't know what was going on that morning in the store because there were the usual 3 or 4 female and male employees near the front of the store and in and out of customer service and the office, and none of them seemed to care about how nasty the bathroom was. read more

Arrived at Winco to find out there is a lumber unloading fee,and they want you to wait for them to unload your truck,and wait while they break down the pallets and put them into segments of 14,and they say if you pull off you will receive a 500 dollar fine.Iam delivering the products they requested and they have all these rules and regulations that I never heard of,never delivering to this place again its is horrible. OK, WinCo rules. Really. The only problem is that they have presented me with a dilemma - now I am torn about renewing my membership to a nearby bulk store because I don't think I need to shop anywhere else beside WinCo for now on. They have it all and the prices are as good or better than anywhere else and you don't need to buy an entire year's supply to get a good value. Highlights: Produce - their produce selection is fantastic. Things like the packaged lettuce and steam-in-bag veggies are always a great price and have a generous expiration date. They have selections here that are hard to find in the typical store, such as dehydrated pablanos and fresh artichokes. Cereal - they always have a huge selection of cereals that are a great price. They have most of the name brands and some really good store brands varieties. Bulk - all types of grains, beans, noodles, candy, etc, sold by weight. Serve yourself. The spices are especially a great deal. Coffee - the Red Brick house brand coffee is available whole bean from self-serve dispensers. They have a few grinders if you want to grind it there. The selection and price cannot be beat. I really like that they have various decaf selections that actually indicate the Swiss Water Decaffeination process. Deli - this has become my go-to for take out lunches. The fresh ready-to-eat options include all types of chicken, taquitos, burritos, corn dogs, pasta, soup, and pasta. They have some of the best catfish I've ever had. Frozen items - the selection of frozen products is larger than any store I've visited. You can find any type of TV dinner, packaged meals, bulk chicken packages, etc. One thing to note - they only take cash or debit card, no credit card. read more

Ahh, Winco....I've missed shopping here. Sadly, I won't drive 20 miles to go food shopping, but happened to be in Denton for a couple days. They have improved things with the chain. Self checkout, and I didn't try to pay with a credit card...but maybe? Not sure there, so don't quote me. Found what I needed quickly, easy checkout, paid cash. Big parking lot and it's open 24x7. so definitely 4.5 stars. The missing half star? Why have a deli person if they can't slice cheese? even if it's pre-sliced like their meats? I don't get that. Welcome to Denton, Winco! This is a nice, new, clean store and so far the service we've received each time we've gone has been very nice. This isn't your typical grocery store. Think of a mash up of Costco/Sams warehouse feel with Kroger style inventory, Sprouts style bulk foods, and mostly Aldi low prices. The employees own the company so they are invested in it's success. I don't recommend running in for a specific ingredient you need in a hurry, especially until you get to know the store very well. Go when you have time to browse the space and find things that inspire you. It's a big store and a very different layout. It does not require membership. read more

Winco foods it's not my favorite grocery store however the prices are decent. I don't know what it is about the meat department but I can't say that it really appeals to me, and I don't know why, it just doesn't. The produce is fine and the bulk food is fine as long as I'm getting it out of one of those with the pulldown lever. I don't like the thought of people sticking their hands in regular bins. Nice variety of products but they don't carry certain things that I wish they would, like Tru Whip as opposed to just Cool Whip. Anyway, as I stated, it's ok. read more

The staff are always friendly, and the prices on bulk goods are very good. I get all of my coffee beans from their bulk section there, and it's the best deal in town, hands down. I now go to WinCo almost to the exclusion of other groceries, and I was a long-time Kroger Signature fan. I do wish that the management would put another checker on a register. read more

The shopping was great until you get to the checkout and there are only 3 cashiers and the lines are 5-6 deep with loaded baskets. Had about 25-30 items in my cart so I went the self-checkout lanes (which is what I prefer anyway) and Emma stood in front of my cart and wouldn't let me use the self-checkout because I had too many items for the "about 15" limit. She literally stood in front of my cart with her arms crossed like the playground bully and wouldn't let me pass. Tried to go to the other side and she moved over and again stood in front of my cart, pushing it to the side and saying "you can't go in". Now there were only 2 people in the self-checkout with 6 available spots open. Then along came the "Lead cashier" Jacky and she still refused to let me use the self-checkout. Told her Emma was being rather childish when they only had 3 cashiers and long lines when I didn't have much in my basket. Told her I preferred to do it myself especially with Covid issues (one less person handling things) so she said, "I'll open a register and put on gloves", rather sarcastically. These people need to learn a little about customer service. read more

My favorite place to grocery shop! Super clean and uncluttered. The staff working there are very helpful and know exactly where everything is. The fruit stays fresher longer for me when I buy it from here as opposed to Kroger. The prices are very good and the homemade packaged food is really good. I love sacking my own groceries at the checkout because I can make sure they get the care they need and not smashed and crumbled by busy sackers at other stores. While I walked in tonight with an intention on getting wine a homeless man asked me if I could buy him food. I said yes. He picked out what he wanted and they asked for my ID. I gave them my ID and they asked for the homeless man's ID. They declined my purchase because the homeless man did not have an ID. REALLY? This place has some great prices and some interesting selections. I had heard lots of great things about Winco, but sadly took forever to pay a visit. Winco is a huge store. They have a large selection of about everything you can think of. Prices can't be beat. Most things are off brands, but I have enjoyed everything I have bought. Perhaps the best thing about Winco is their bulk section. They have more and different items than I have ever seen anywhere else. Great prices again too. I have heard that their produce section isn't great and I did skip that part. I loved everything else they have. You should definitely check it out. read more

I can't believe I haven't posted a review on WinCo yet, this place is great! It's an employee owned business and I want to support that. They are 24 hours which is useful when you are trying to avoid the worst of University construction or have a demanding work schedule or kid's activities. They are very clean. They have several types of carts and baskets to suit the type of trip or what you are comfortable carrying. The employees have been friendly on all my visits. You should be warned that they do not accept credit cards and you do your own bagging. These are cost saving measures that are well worth it but inconvenient if you are unaware. They do accept debit cards but I cannot recall if they accept checks as I haven't tried or noticed signs. They have organic produce as well, a bakery and a deli in the back and an intriguing bulk section. The bulk section is a few aisles in the back right corner that offer several sizes in bags and includes everything from different types of flour and oats to cereals and nuts to snacks including eight colors/flavors of popcorn. I like this for several reasons. I like cereal but rarely eat it and don't like a box going stale. I was able to sample 3 servings of a type they have for 52 cents, that's cool and nothing was wasted. Also, for those who like to try new recipes but don't want to purchase an entire bag of a type of an ingredient like a certain bean or pasta this is useful. In addition they have stuff for baking and cooking that make life easy. An example is blueberry muffin mix and on top of that container is a recipe card for people to take and though it lists out measurements and baking time the only thing you need to add is water! Super easy if you are having company but don't have the time to make things from scratch. The deli and bakery are smaller than at other stores but they have several cases of ready to go meals and sandwich types on different breads and it's an attention grabber for sure. This has a slightly smaller selection of food in the aisles but more than enough. For example if you go to Walmart you will see 5 brands of mayo in 3-4 different sizes and container options but here there may be 3 brands in 2 sizes. More than enough options for me! The only area I think they could increase in size would be the pharmacy/shampoo/soap aisle but that's just a personal preference and only effects those with brands they are diehard loyal to without considering other products. Okay, let's talk prices. Overall, this is a great value. A lot of their prices are cheaper here than at other places. Not 100% of their items, but enough of their items to consider making this your weekly one stop shop. For example, yes I can get coffee way cheaper at Sam's but if I don't need a lot of bulk items that trip and want more variety than Sam's this is a good choice. I saw two items there that I can get for a buck cheaper at Kroger but the rest of the items I would get at Kroger were significantly cheaper here. Aldi does beat them in some areas on price but the selection and items available is much greater here. So for people who only want to go to one place every week or two for their grocery needs this is definitely an option for you. For those who want the best deal on everything even if it means going to multiple stores, you need to add this in to your rotation along with Sam's Club and Aldi because they got great deals here. My giant container of Hazelnut Coffeemate (brand I'm picky about that is not available at Sam's or Aldi) is $2 cheaper than at Walmart, Albertsons and Kroger. Even toilet paper and foil were significantly cheaper. Regardless this place is worth you checking out at least once and making your own decision but I got to say, I don't often think of grocery stores as cool! :) read more

This grocery store is totally awesome! The prices are extremely low and the store is very clean. One thing you need to be warned of from the very beginning is that they do not accept credit cards. You must use cash or a debit card. If your card does not say debit on it somewhere then it's most likely not going to work so just be sure and bring cash. Having said that the reason why the prices are so low is that not only is it cash or debit much like Aldi's, but because you have to bag your own groceries. One of the things I like about this store is that you can use either paper or plastic where as in many other grocery stores you have no choice. The thing I like about this particular location is that it is directly across from Walmart which in my opinion that Walmart store has very little in the way of variety in its grocery aisle. This store is super spacious the aisles are nice and wide, and you can get pretty much anything you want that you would get say at a Kroger or an Albertsons for a fraction of the price. One of the things that other people who have posted reviews has mentioned is that this is an employee-owned business. Yes there is a general Corporation overseeing everything but when you shop here you are actually helping the employees who work there. And a word about the employees is that no matter what department I was in the store it seemed that every employee knew exactly where certain items were which is very helpful. I'm very impressed with the way WinCo handled the snow storm in Texas. We were looking around for a while for a place to grab essentials while we were snowed in at UNT, and WinCo was one of the only places open next to us.
