While I didn't particularly indulge in the sweets or meat-based products, I found some of the nuts (walnuts, pecans) and other items to be pleasantly affordable. They were significantly cheaper than similar items I've purchased elsewhere. Trader Joe's has immense potential. They offer a delightful fusion of foods and snacks that are truly one-of-a-kind. It's an excellent place to grab a quick bite for parties or meal prep. I'm definitely planning to return and explore more of what Trader Joe's has to offer. There are a ton of options for the toppings. 3 types of beans, 3 types of protein, lettuce, red or green salsas, pico, guacamole, sour cream, cilantro, cheese, jalapeños, olives, and I might be missing some other options. I would say my taco salad tasted slightly bland but I would prefer that to overly salted as I can add my own salt. The service was great. Quick but friendly. I love how they wrap up the taco salad in a box to keep it all together and to prevent breaking and leaking. I'm curious to come back to try their other daily deals.

It does not have as many local products as the Seattle store, fresh bread in particular. They do carry some unique products like corn tortillas made in Shelton and baguettes from Vashon. Overall, I like this chain but prefer the Seattle store for selection.

This store felt like it wasn't too long ago that this store got remodeled which left it more confusing to find items in general but eventually the kinks got worked out as I learned where items were. Fred Meyer had higher prices than many other of their competitors on various soft lines and hard lines. Clothes were noticeably higher than the competitors. I imagine part of the reason it is closing is due to high theft but I assumed it wouldn't be as high compared to the now closed 72nd location. Perhaps it's also a factor that Kroger is miffed with a failed merger. I didn't go here too terribly often more recently but I did go here on occasion to get knee braces and distilled water for my C-Pap machine. This leaves just a smaller supermarket location in town and the selection is poorer compared to a regular Fred Meyer store. This will leave a regular store for shoppers to be redirected to University Place or Spanaway.

When we walked up to the checkout, the cashier and the employee bagging groceries were engaged in a conversation and laughing together. We completely understand that employees interact with one another, but once customers are at the register, they should feel acknowledged. Unfortunately, neither employee looked up, smiled, greeted us, or said a single word during the transaction. The only thing the cashier said was while handing me the receipt, and it was so quiet I couldn't even understand what was said. The lack of even basic acknowledgment made us feel like an interruption rather than valued customers. Metropolitan Market has always had a reputation for exceptional service, which is why this experience was so surprising and disappointing. I hope this was simply an isolated incident, but it's something management should be aware of.
