People have a tendency to only post bad reviews so I decided to post our good review. We love our pool that was installed last year. Kathy and Kerry and the rest of the staff have been extremely nice to us and greet us with a warm welcome whenever we are in the store. Melissa, DJ, and Ramone have especially went over and above for us! The few minor issues we have had have been taken care of in a timely manor. They are a large pool company and seem to fix the big problems before the minor issues. Which is what they should do. We purchased a Inground pool and hot tub through them and we are extremely happy! A few of our neighbors have also went through wind surf and sail and I know they are also very happy. Another neighbor just signed up for next year! I highly recommend using Wind Surf & Sail if you want an in ground pool! My wife and I started looking to have one installed in June. The 2 other companies we called never showed or didn't return our calls. Kathy got back with my wife right away. Keri came out a day later and spent over 1.5 hours going over everything that would happen. This was late afternoon after working on an installation all day and we had just inquired with no commitment of hiring them. They're a married couple who have been doing this for over 30+ years. Kathy handles the store and paperwork while Keri manages and installs the pools. We had more questions after the first consultation and Kathy would get back with my wife on the answers right away. We decided to hire them and initially chose to start at the beginning of September. We later changed it to the beginning of August with no push back from them. Our pool was finished within 6 weeks and would've been sooner if not for a week of rain. Throughout the whole process Kathy and Keri would always respond quickly with any questions or requests. The biggest advantage with going with WS&S is the experience these 2 people bring with the amazing staff. After reading a few reviews I can't help but think folks forget how complex owning and have a pool installed can be. Kathy and Keri are still answering any questions we have and we couldn't be happier having choose them. This is the exact post i posted on the business Facebook page of the pool store, Wind Surf and Sail...they just deleted it. CAUTION: THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I have been 'working' (more like waiting) with this company since Sunday May 28th to try to get my pool light replaced. Initially I went into the store and had the pleasure of working with Kathy, she was wonderful, she realized i was frustrated and took her time with me explaining pool lights and the install process. Little did I know at that time that she was the owner. Unfortunately this is where my positive experiences end... Someone was supposed to be out to my house Tuesday May 30th to install... no one ever showed. I called on May 31st and was told someone was out that day but couldn't get the electrical through the conduit... they needed a stronger fishing line from their electrician... that could take a couple days to get and they couldn't promise me when they'd be back again. (Why did I have to call? Why couldn't they call and tell me this?) Also... their install crew left their mess around my pool. Saturday June 3rd I returned home from the gym (around 9:15am) to see a pool vehicle in my driveway, I got all excited. By the time I walked in my house and out my back door to talk to the pool guy, he was gone, like gone from my backyard and my driveway! Unfortunately his mess wasn't, and I had no pool light. There was yellow fishing line left around my pool along with electrical from the new light and the old electrical... the old electrical completely cut out of my pool! WTF? Who provided approval for that? I'm about 2 seconds away from taking then to small claims court. This is also when the phone calls start going un returned... June 3rd at 11:20am, I called the store to talk to Kathy... she was busy but I was promised a call back... no response! June 8th at 10:36am, I called and was disconnected. June 8th at 10:42am, I called back and again left a message for someone to call me back... no response! June 10th at 11:30am, I called again and asked for a manager, I got Tom. He said he was gonna check with his service department and either he or them would call me back... NO RETURN CALL! June 16th at 11:39am, I call again and ask to speak with the owner, the voice, which sounds like Tom's says 'Kathy's on the other line, I can have her call you back when she's done'... I have zero faith in this... but ok, I bite again...i give him a little info on why I'm frustrated and we disconnect... Its now June 18th... I'm still waiting on that callback... If the pool light couldn't be replaced why not call and tell me that? Transparency and communicating is vital when you work with customers! Am I left to assume that if I want a new pool light, I need to tear out the cement and diving board surrounding it? Is it safe to swim in my pool with the electrical cut out like that? All questions i'd love answers to...if only someone would call me back... read more

First of all, coincidentally it was a year ago September 20, 2020, that Wind Surf and Sail, replaced my pool heater and I was completely satisfied with their work. Including the two year warranty of which I have about a year left. Unfortunately is has been downhill since then. As I had previously used another company for the last 8 years to open and close my pool, I was quite disturbed that WSS did not, as the other company ALWAYS DID, use a separate pump and vacuum to initially clean the major debris at the bottom of my pool upon opening. In fact, they did not even use my pump. But I was going to live with that. Next was the closing.We had a contract, that if I pay in advance for opening and closing it was one fee. I could care less that their costs have increased, as I paid January 27, 2021 for both opening and closing, for a specific price. But it does not end there. You also drained my pool, (which in the last 8 years was NEVER DONE) at least 3 feet, below the second step reducing the weight in my pool by more than half, which holds my fiberglass pool in place. I just spent $9,000.00 in July to have my cement redone, and if in fact the decrease in weight causes any damage to the new cement, I will hold WSS personally responsible. Next, as I went out Tuesday to look at the pool cover, many straps on my "elephant cover" were loose and not tightened so in the pouring rain I did it myself. Then I got a bill for an additional $20.00 for "increased cost of antifreeze and chlorine". It is clear that WSS has a pump and could have cleaned the bottom of my pool upon opening as my pump would not go below six inches of the top of the pool as I only have a skimmer drain, nothing at the bottom of my pool. I feel that I was taken advantage of, and will not recommend this company to anyone for any pool services. read more

I advise you not to use this company to close any fiberglass pool. They incorrectly closed mine the last two years by draining too much water from the pool which caused a large crack. There was not enough water in the pool throughout winter to support the structure. Two different pool companies came out to review the damage and it was their opinion the pool was closed incorrectly. The second company said I was lucky the pool was not sitting above ground in my backyard. I believed Wind Surf and Sail was a reputable company and would take ownership of their mistake but that is not the case. The staff and owner does not return calls. All the little teenage girls thAt work here, laugh and giggle as they check u out. Two of them were even whispering as they checked me out. So, are they talking about me?? Rude! One of the rudest experiences I've had with a company. Walked in, was just browsing around looking at the jacuzzis. A young woman walks over to me asking what I'm looking for. Her tone was rude, her lack of wanting to assist was rude. When I asked her a question all she would give was yes or no, with no explanation. I asked is this the only size you have. I am so glad I called this Company. My pool pump went after 7+ years. They were out the next and sent Ramon and Junior. They are very professional and personable people. I really enjoyed having them here. My pump was replaced quickly. Cathi and Sheri made this experience even better. I was quoted for a 1HP pump. They only had a 1 1/2HP on the truck (which they said would work better). No additional cost. I love this company! I will now be using them to open and close my pool every year thank you so much for taking care of us! read more

I had my pool opened, what a nightmare. They didn't add all of the proper chemicals, when I turned my filter in immediately after they left (which they are supposed to do) water started pouring out of the filter. I called and was told someone would be back immediately, that was over a week ago and no one has shown up. After paying someone else they did not cap the filter, placed a washer in backwards and didn't add all the proper chemicals. read more

I've been dealing with them since 06/1999....first time pool owner at that time. The employees have always been polite, if they didn't know an answer they found out. They walked me to the item I was looking for and even answered questions on how to use. I replaced one liner in 2004 and now again. The installers were friendly, knowlegdable and did a great job. I've dealt with both owners and have never had any issues. I recommend this store to anyone that has a pool or is looking to get one. read more

They are not as bad as others have said, I am not sure what happened there, but I'm sure the company will have to answer, even if it is the customer that made the mistake. In my experience, this is a very reputable company that has a huge selection of saunas and pool types. They also have specials my uncle was able to take advantage of. I am very happy with the service so far and looking forward to creating a new sanctuary in our backyard! Update. I took them to court and won my case and got awarded. This should back up my review and to who do not believe me the case is a public record. Do not go to this place. Well the "Brand new Hayward heater" quit working after 3 times using it and we call them everyday and they say its this part or its that part and its on order and they'll be out tomorrow or today and WE ARE STILL WAITING.Paid them 800.00 so far and no heater working yet! I've been coming to Wind Surf & Sail since 2002 and my experience with them has been wonderful. I get my pool water checked every two weeks and most of the time I don't need to add anything. There are some pool stores in the area that charge $10.00 every time you need your water tested, not them they do it for nothing and always know exactly what my pool needs in all situations. All the folks who work here are easy to deal with especially Cathy and Samantha. They are always friendly and truly interested in helping you with any pool problem you may have. I had a problem with my pool liner this year and Cathy sent one of her techs out to look at it for me free of charge- That's customer service. I would highly recommend Wind Surf & Sail to anyone who's looking for a pool place to deal with. I wouldn't go anywhere else.. Keep up the good work!! read more

I had Wind Surf & Sail build our pool. They did build a beautiful pool and seems to be quality work. However, the owners did not communicate with us throughout the process and made the build quite frustrating. They were about 4 weeks behind schedule which I could almost live with, if they were a little better about letting us know what was going on. On a couple of occasions, I had to follow-up with the city for permit status. A couple times they promised little things such as a couple bottles of cover free...I never did receive it (seems minor but, I felt as if it was just something to say to make me happy for the moment and they had no intention on fulfilling the promise). The staff that actually did the build were great and so is the staff in the store. I just feel that the owners don't really treat their customers well. Basically, The pool is beautiful but I think the customer service from the owners could use some improvement. read more

The pool opening that we arranged for as part of our equipment purchase and install was late and incomplete. We had to call multiple times to remind them that we had arranged for this service. When they finally showed up (3 weeks past the expected service time) they pulled the cover off and then one of the guys left, the other two sat on my patio for at least an hour doing nothing. When the first guy returned, they dumped some chemicals in the pool and started it up. The water level was still below the jets, which were sputtering because of this. Then all 3 of the guys left. They did not approach my husband or me to let us know when or if they would return, nor did they clean up their mess (empty box and jugs). Our pool gate was also left open. I tried calling Wind, Surf and Sail multiple times. When I reached someone I was told to call back when the right person was in the office. I called back again when I was told the person would be there and was told again that the one person that could help me still wasn't there. I was obviously upset at this time and tried to explain my situation to the person that answered, but she was not having it. I was upset over the matter and as I tried to explain why, the lady just hung up on me. My husband finally got a hold of them and they again promised to come out and again were a no show. My husband finally went there in person and was told that was what their service included (removing cover, adding chemicals, staring the system) and that we had to do the rest ourselves. Why bother paying for the service then and had somebody taken the time to listen on the phone, we probably could have gotten this information much sooner and avoided much frustration or not purchased it in the first place. read more

Don't use them unless you have money to spare. Hired them to put in a new pool liner simple right. First they showed up for a estimate seeming to be professional sow we hired them. Then everything goes wrong upon draining the pool they dropped the trash pump in the pool in the deep end and broke the vermiculite floor. Did a very bad repair and put the new liner in and didn't measure correctly wrinkles everywhere hard to clean. Call on the warranty and they said my floor was leaking thanks and they won't fix or warranty. They also broke my pool light. Don't use them untrustworthy read more

I simply do not have the energy to type up our nightmare experience. We are still going around with them over a year later. Lack of communication and transparency is their largest problem. In addition, they cannot maintain a staff of experienced people. No return calls, they give you the big run around. Kathy is one of the owners and she just spins and spins and spins until you are so frustrated which might be her intention so you just go away. We would never recommend this company! read more

If you read all these reviews and you still purchase from them then you have no one to blame but yourself. I gave Kathy the benefit of the doubt for a few years. She never returned our calls when we had serious pool issues and it was so bad we actually had to go into her store to even get to see her. Then she acted like it was our fault! Here's a quick rundown - In ground pool needed liner replaced a few years ago. We ordered it thru Kathy - liner installed and had a huge rip in seam in bottom that wasn't detected until pool was filled. Liner had to be replaced - we lost 500.00 of water which we were told would be reimbursed. It wasn't. New liner put in and within 1 year had a huge rip at the bead line near top. This interestingly enough was "discovered" when her crew opened the pool in the spring at a cost of 300.00. I am convinced they caused the tear but of course Kathy denies this and I let them patch it. Here comes this Spring 2018 and her crew opens my pool at a cost of approx. 300.00. The pool crew pumps water into my landscaping in yard and washes away a good 100.00 of MULCH!!!! We call Kathy and receive no call back. We call again and receive no call back again. I get the bill in the mail letting me know they will be charging me interest if I don't pay it on time. We have been their customers since the late 1990's and as I say it took me a while to wake up because I really wanted to believe that she would treat her loyal customers well. This year was the last straw. I have already lined up another pool company that gets great reviews and am actually contacting a lawyer in an attempt to recoup all our costs over the past few years including the liner cost of close to 4000.00. Don't do what I did .... give your business to a company that actually will at least return a customers phone call! read more

I would have liked the opportunity to rate their service however, it was impossible to get! I called for a quote and apparently someone came when I was not at home. When I called a week later, was told that a quote was left. I gave them the benefit of it maybe blowing away. Tried calling to schedule an install for a pool heater SIX TIMES. I talked to 4 different people and no one ever called me back. When I called the 5th time (on a Thursday) I was told that they wouldn't be able to install until the next Tuesday or Wednesday which tells me they didn't have a month-long backlog of work. Explained my growing frustration with each additional call and finally said "this is my last attempt". Still no call back. I don't understand how anyone would treat people (who are ready to hand them a large payment) in this manner. read more

I have an inground roughly 20x40' foot pool. The pool was installed in 1984 and it needs a new liner. We've had several liners since the initial installation put in without any issues whatsoever. I was calling companies/businesses for quotes and set up at appointment with Wind Surf & Sail, they didn't arrive as promised. I ended up calling the store and for an and someone finally came out. The man who arrived at the door and said since its a sand bottom, they're not interested in the work and said that the tapering was all gone. Granted, part of the cover was blown free and landed into the shallow end of the pool (from the early March 2017 wind storm) but the deep end and most of the pool still has the cover resting on the remaining water inside of the pool. There is no way they can see any tapering or sidewalls. My guess is that they either didn't want the job or more than likely don't have the skills or knowledge on how to install liners on a reverse L shaped pool. I've spoken to other pool companies and explained the same thing to them and each had expressed no concerns of sand bottom pools and each also stated they would make any corrections needed to any tapering if there was a need for it. Two of the three other companies I spoke with essentially said this concern was a moot point and one even chuckled after I told him what Wind Surf and Sail mentioned. I used to obtain all of my pool supplies from Wind Surf & Sail but after what just happened, I'm not sure to trust them for chlorine purchases. Not impressed at all on this one. I am so disappointed in this company ! Decided to give them a try since my original person subcontracted through viscount was super busy when it was time to close my pool. Took the cover off to open and my liner was destroyed. I contacted them to see if they could come take a look just to give me feedback on whether I needed a new liner or if it was something else more serious. They said they would send someone out. This was Monday when I called. She said someone would be out no later than Wednesday. Wednesday came around so I gave them a call. Samantha said no one had come out yet but should be out today ( Wednesday ) and she would give me a call later that night. Coincidentally I decided to check my pool camera as there was some activity and it looks like someone did come out on Tuesday but she says she has no info for me. Called back on Thursday and of course she was busy with another customer and someone said she would call me back. It's now Friday and I haven't heard back. So basically now I'm beginning to think they closed my pool improperly and it has damaged my liner. Now I will say that my liner is not brand new and I may have needed a new one but based on other people's reviews on houszz and other sites I believe they drained too much water at closing. Do yourself a favor and go to viscount ! Yes they subcontract their work but he knows exactly what he's doing. I'm surprised wind surf and sail is still open. read more

I had a 40 yr old in ground pool rebuilt and it looks fantastic. It was a major job and the workers were great.

NEVER buy a pool from Wind, Surf , and Sail Pools on Hall rd. The only thing they will do in a timely fashion is cash your check! They will then spend the next 3 months lying to you and promising to call you back..which of course never happens. They will tell you they have your permits in their office and then the next time You call Them they will tell you they are waiting for the permits..then they will spend the next 4 weeks telling you that you are "next on their list" that they just need to get ahold of their installer..which of course never happens. Then they will tell you they are going to at least deliver your pool and that won't happen either. Absolutely livid right now. Promised both kids they could have and end of the year pool party and I can't even make that happen for them. Poor company, terrible customer service..Shame on them..I paid for my pool and install in full and have received nothing but the run around and empty promises. read more

Horrible experience!! We were looking forward to getting a pool for the family, however this has been a huge mistake! This company does not follow through with anything they tell you. The owner will promise you a certain date and it will be at least 6-8 wks after promised date that you actually see anyone. We have been waiting 3 ms for repairs to our pool that they installed this summer. We are seeking legal action against this company. read more
