Okay, there are some really quirky things here but for the folks who don't want to read: yes, I would stay here again. A few things that are true: - These are Hobbit Houses. Everything is small. The beds, the rooms, the stove, the shower, the toilet. All smaller than you are used to. Definitely not ADA accessible. - This place is old. It smells like your Great Aunt's house and you'll be checking the cupboards for Ribbon Candy. - The place is clean. Spotless. Linens were fresh and not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. Dishes, cups, everything. Super clean. - It's not modern. At all. You'll use a real key. You'll get a handwritten receipt for your stay. The WiFi is a strange little router plugged in to a random ceiling plug. The stove is small and has coil burners. - It has great beach access. Out your back door and a few steps away. Okay, several steps but still close. - Close to the old town. You're about a 5 minute drive to the old downtown and far off the highway so there is no noise. - It's expensive. A tad uncomfortable with the price but you're paying for the beach access and view. There is a chain hotel across the street that is significantly cheaper but if you want the access, get your credit card out. Hotels / motels are limited in this town and this was the best option we saw. We will stay here again. Once you get over the "weird" of the room set up (it takes about an hour) you will really like the place. read more

This review is difficult for me to write because, honestly, I wanted to love this place. The location is beautiful. The proximity to the beach is outstanding, the setting is relaxing, and the property has tremendous potential to provide a wonderful coastal experience. That is part of what makes this experience so disappointing. I did not want to write this review out of anger or spite. In fact, my initial goal was simply to alert management to a serious issue so it could be addressed before another guest experienced the same thing. During my stay, I discovered multiple bed bugs on the bedding. I photographed the insects, photographed where they were found, and documented the resulting bites. The issue was significant enough that we felt unsafe remaining in the room. What happened next was even more disappointing than the discovery itself. We immediately attempted to contact the hotel for assistance. We called the regular hotel phone number, called the emergency contact number posted on the office door, and sent multiple emails. Despite repeated attempts, we received no response. With no assistance available, we were forced to find alternative accommodations late at night, around 10:00 PM, incurring additional expenses, stress, disruption to our travel plans, and concern about possible exposure to our belongings. The following morning, because all of our attempts to contact management had gone unanswered, we returned to the property in person to speak with management directly. I was not looking for a confrontation. I was looking for compassion, accountability, and reassurance that the matter would be taken seriously. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and treated as though my concerns were an inconvenience rather than a legitimate health and safety issue. I will also note that management declined to accept responsibility for the condition of the room. While I cannot speak to when the issue originated or whether management was previously aware of it, the number of insects I discovered and documented left me deeply concerned about the extent of the problem. To management's credit, a refund was eventually issued. However, a refund does not erase the experience, the inconvenience of having to relocate late at night, the bites, the anxiety of potentially bringing bed bugs home, or the feeling that our concerns were not genuinely heard. What troubles me most is that I sincerely expressed my hope that the issue was isolated and encouraged management to thoroughly investigate it for the protection of future guests. My purpose then, and now, is not retaliation. It is concern that another family may unknowingly find themselves in the same position. I hope the hotel conducts a thorough inspection and remediation of any affected rooms. Every guest deserves a clean, safe place to sleep and a management team that responds promptly and compassionately when serious concerns arise. read more

I rented one of very few rooms that allow animals in Bandon. I also reserved an ADA room. I arrived January 19,2026 for a 2 night stay. The room was pricey but I had stayed 10 years ago and it was a great view with easy beach access for myself and the dogs. Once in the room it's pretty obvious this is NOT an ADA room. They had a roll under sink and some hand rails in the bathroom. However throwing a shower chair in the corner does not make this ADA accessible!! There is no way to possibility get a wheelchair in the 2x2 shower that has a lip. There is a shower wand but NO floor drain to use it outside the shower. There are federal rules to be able to call a room ADA accessible and this truly isn't and you should be ashamed calling it one. The room was extremely dirty and I used Clorox wipes on all fixtures and in the bathroom. There was nasty old carpet that spelled of dog piss. If this is a room for pets remove the filthy carpet! The bedding was clean and ample. The fridge played this scary growing sound every 20 minutes all night All in all I'm hesitant to stay here again. Do better please! 2 stars because of the access. We also had a dirty, broken seal on the window. We could not see anything. Again do better! read more

This place was beautiful and perfect for all 3 of us. We got to have our own beds. The view of the ocean was beautiful. It was so nice hearing thr waves. We stayed in 12 one night, then two days later when coming back through we stayed in 14. It was 20 dollars more a night but totally worth it. We found out the next day they had board games you could borrow. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We will definitely stay here again. read more

I booked the only full ADA room months ahead of time only to have it given to someone else. We arrived to check in after driving several hours to learn we had no place to stay. No apologies or explanation were given instead it was insisted I had rented a different room. That is not possible because my husband requires a specific set up and room size. He is confined to a wheelchair. Traveling is very difficult and I am very specific about which room will work for us. Be wary of being bumped unexpectedly. The Best Western was very accommodating and made our trip a success despite the added stress and expense created by being without a room at 5 pm during the busy tourist season. read more

We had an upstairs room with a great view but the room was very old and worn. The bathroom was tiny--reminded me of an airplane bathroom. The kitchen was decent but the bed and the couches seemed very worn out. It did seem clean though. I'd rather not stay there again, just too old. read more

Hubby was looking for a place for us to stay while visiting Bandon, for my birthday, because of what he read online, from another travel site. ALL the hotels has views. Charming old cottage, update with all the modern conveniences, very comfortable, everything you need to prepare a simple meal (salt & pepper included), great view, a long step down to the ocean (don't go at night, those steps - no lights), friendly service in the office. Hot coffee or cocoa in the morning, cellophane wrapped muffins. Away from traffic noise, hardly hear the ocean roar. We stayed on the 2nd floor. The bottom section has the shrubs, Scotland Pine, blooming currently in beautiful yellow. Beautiful landscaped with rock borders, awesome! Easy access back to Old Town. Everything is petite, if I'm single and lives here, perfect for me! There's a frosted tiny window, where you can view the ocean, while using the toilet! Negative: There's electrical plug in the bathroom, in front of the toilet, behind a door, but it's floor-level. Not very convenient for my power wash toothbrush/floss. I used the kitchen sink! It took us a while to get the TV going, but once we got it, we were stuck (and it's OK, watching the Learning Channel). At first, the section that divides the living room/bathroom floor, sinks up/down. By the 2nd day, we got used to it. read more

Besides the fact of them calling to charge my mother for damages that were already there , like a screen with a tear in it . that's why they had a fly swat er in there because they come through it . after the room had been paid for entirely they called and said we owed for the dogs even though it later showed we already paid. Not my first time staying here, but this was my first time in the weird little room right above the office. It was adorable and a wonderful experience with a balcony, fantastic view, and kitchenette. The head of the bed seemed slightly angled downward, but was comfy otherwise. The shower is quite tiny but the showerhead is pretty high up for tall people. The water is also very soft so be careful to use less soap than usual. Other than those things, our stay was AWESOME. We didn't expect a full set of kitchen dishes and a toaster. The kitchenette is pretty complete except no stove. I was also surprised to find an EV charging station in from of the hotel office. We really enjoyed our stay and will continue returning to Windermere when we need a place to stay near Bandon! I'll probably ask about the weird little room above the office again as it was more adorable and quiet than the others, with a convenient path to the beach. read more

We just stayed at Windermere for the first time and it was amazing! The room has a direct view of the beach and the beautiful sunsets. There is a short path directly to the beach too. The room was spotless and was stocked with all the amenities. Michael at the front desk was so nice and very helpful, we are most definitely coming back on a regular basis! While there, we also visited Shore Acres, Face Rock, Coquille River Lighthouse, Cape Arago, and Sunset Bay State Park. All are located by the hotel. Super amazing views! All rooms have a view! A quick two minute walk to beach. My biggest positive is this getaway was affordable! $235 for the weekend!! Can you say, "Score" Kitchenette with full service for 4; stove/oven/microwave/toaster/coffee maker. Hotel staff were pleasant and inviting. Lobby has games, coffee/tea and pastries in the morning. Bedding was clean, room was clean, parking was plenty. Only thing that was not the best was the small bathroom. It's super tight! Toilet small and barely off the ground. But, I can live with that; other maybe not so much. A quick four to five minute drive to the pier and there is plenty of eating. We found that many places close early. read more

Beds weren't super comfortable but I've slept on worse. The view was fantastic and there is beach access right at the hotel though they didn't say anything about it and we didn't find it until the morning we were leaving. Great location. The foremost advantage the Windermere has is its unsurpassed location right on the Pacific Ocean which allows for exceptional views of the Southern Oregon Coast from every single room. The hotel is made up of a series of small cottages which sit at the top of a bluff; the scene from your deck or balcony is of wild dunes, otherworldly rock formations, the sandy beach, and the blustery Pacific. There are 'traditional' and 'deluxe' accommodations. Opt for the deluxe if you are staying more than a couple of days. The unit I stayed in was on the second floor, it had a small kitchenette, a king sized bed, a decent sized bathroom, and a balcony with unobstructed, magnificent views. The place is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The furnishings and décor are modest and JCPenny cozy. In one corner there is an electronic faux fireplace which will warm up the space but doesn't really add any charm. There is television with satellite service and there are two wing back chairs where you can catch up on your reading. The bed is acceptable but it definitely won't be mistaken for a 'Heavenly Bed'. The space is not luxurious but it undeniably fits the relaxed vibe of the coast. The caretakers of the property are efficient, helpful and friendly without being intrusive. They get you checked in promptly and your charge card is swiped ahead of time rather than at the end of your stay. If you want suggestions on the town of Bandon or help planning a quick trip to Oregon wine country they will give you their opinion and guidance. If you want to be left alone they will respect your privacy. My stay here was agreeable and I would recommend this place over any chain hotel any day. read more

I like this place. Nice view, right on the beach. Cheerful, attentive staff. The rooms have everything you need - wine glasses, toaster, stove - I mean everything. Clean. The rooms are older, and rate probably two or three stars, as far as appeal, but this adds a bit to the fun, I think. Prices are very reasonable for the area and location on the beach. A little bit musty, but the windows open. TV and wifi worked great. The walls are quite thin, so a noisy neighbor who stays up late can be a real problem, and that's the only reason I don't give this inn five stars. read more

My husband and two girls booked a getaway this past weekend to visit Bandon, Oregon and were willing to pay for such a pricey room in belief that it would be worth it since it had an ocean view. It was definitely NOT worth the price.. the room was very dated and literally falling apart, the shower head was super cheap and the shower itself was stained and cracked. These things made us disappointed since it was the most we've ever spent and we typically stay in upper class hotels several times a year, we expected it to be better maintained. But we decided to look past it and enjoy the beach before sunset, the beach is indeed fabulous at Face Rock. When we came back to enjoy the sunset on our porch, there was a large party playing a game with several light up flashing balls on the area directly in front of our porch (a grassy area about 8ft wide), we sat out with obstructed views by this obnoxiously loud and large party of people for about 10 minutes thinking they may notice they are disturbing others experience and become more mindful.. they didn't seem to care at all, so I politely asked them to move down so my family could enjoy our time there too. I was glared at by the entire party but no verbal response, a few minutes later even more people came and it was past ten o'clock at this time so we called the office to get this horrible experience resolved so we could enjoy our stay. There was no after hours phone number offered on the answering machine to contact someone for help so much my husband left a message hoping that it was monitored at least and we just turned in and went to sleep. The next morning upon checking out we spoke with the lady in the office, she said she got our message, apologized and offered to speak with the owner about a refund for our inconvenience. 5 days later I haven't heard anything back so I sent an email to see if there would be an adjustment to my charges, I received a call back today from an older man who advised he was the manager, he said that hotels are public places and disturbances happen. He was quite short and rude with me and made the already horrible experience even worse with his character. All around negative experience. Best Western across the street looks much newer and they have corporate heads to answer to so that probably would have been an easier experience to handle. This manager at Windermere clearly has nobody to answer to and relies on their location to keep their rooms filled. Without any need to care about their customers actual experience on their property. read more

Had a nice weekend In Bandon. Went over for king tides. We stayed at the Windermere on the beach. It's been 17 yrs since I last stayed there Hasn't changed much since then. The large windows in each room is what drew me in. You have a nice access to the beach. Room was clean, quiet, nice hot shower. It had a microwave, little Fridge, coffee maker. Everything was perfect except for the bed. It was pretty hard, I had a difficult time sleeping. If your looking for a room with a view this would be perfect. read more

Nice room and certainly a great location. The gas fireplace was somewhat of a disappointment, they have it on a thermostat which didn't work very well. We had to turn it up to 95 just to get it to turn on and then it would turn off in less than 5 minutes. It was looked at by the manager but that didn't help. Exactly what we were looking for. From our second floor room, we had an excellent ocean view. With a kitchenette, we were able to have a leisurely breakfast watching the waves. There is a private beach access making it easy to go for a walk. The complex was built in 1936, updated obviously, but there are little touches of the original still there. I can only say what our room was like.....the bathroom is small. It has everything one needs, but it might be uncomfortable for a larger person. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bandon is a cute town with some good art shops and restaurants. The beach is pleasant to walk and has stunning rock formations. We will definitely come back to Bandon and to Windermere on the Beach. During our 2day stay at Windermere, my wife and I had lots fun, such as: (1) We enjoyed watching the spectacular July 4th Firework display over the bay water, from the beautiful marina pier in Bandon Old town. - Hmm, if you like great seafood over a drink, do give Tony's Crab Shack on the pier a try. It's a no-frill fast food eatery, that offers only great seafood. We did and really loved the crab cakes and steamed clams over beer and wine. (2) We took a 3 mile leisure stroll along the beautiful beach, which is less than 5min walk away from our room.This miles-long beach has many intriguing, spectacular, huge rock formations (boulders) near the shore line, as well as on the beach! The magical charm of the beach, with waves after wave splashing against those boulders....is beyond my ability to describe - itcan only be personally experienced! - YES, it's true that Windermere is rather old and rustic; no phone in room and no restaurant or cafe in the premise, BUT its charm, and especially the beauty of its surroundings will make you feel like being in a tranquil, intimate resort. The managing (man and wife) and house keeping staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome. By the way, when we found out that the coating of the toilet seat was chipped and started peeling, we told the manager about it, who then asked her husband to install a brand new one immediately. A beautiful location on Face Rock Beach with easy access and is convenient to all restaurants and activities. Had a number of issues however. First day, had no hot water. But the biggest issue has to do with covid cleaning or lack of. They make a big deal about cleaning the rooms which is wonderful. However, the table had crumbs on it and was sticky. The Salt and pepper shakers had dried food on the top. Definitely not cleaned. We did bring our own cleaning supplies to covid clean the contact areas in the room. The front desk said the cleaning supervisor did the room and double sanitized it. I would go back there again, but again will bring my own cleaning supplies to assure sanitation read more

This is our go to when we visit Bandon, which we do at least every summer, sometimes during winter too. The cabins are cozy, clean and all have excellent views of the ocean. We usually get the Premier Family Cottage which has a full kitchen, eating area, king bed down stairs and two fulls upstairs. The bathroom is small, but that's okay. The grounds are well kept and the staff is very nice. In my experience the staff as well as the visitors are very honest too. Last time we were there my iPad fell out of my bag into the parking lot with out me knowing it. Some one picked it up and turned it into the office. Whew! Be aware though that the stairs leading up to the second floor are extremely steep. I wouldn't have small children upstairs or elderly people. A fall down the steep wood stairs could literally be the end for someone. We'll be back. read more

I made a reservation back in January 2021 at Windermere on the Beach for a King with fireplace room. I didn't realize that when they emailed me back in April, they had changed my room to a family room. When we arrived, I didn't see my original email and saw the one they had changed. So, I said, ok it was my fault. I did ask the lady if they had a king room. She looked and said they did not. We figured we'd just make the best of it. We really enjoyed staying in the king room with the fireplace. The next day we were out, and I looked online to see if they had a king room and they did, for the exact same time we were there. I would have been fine paying the higher price for the family room. My boyfriend went into the office and the lady was very rude. She didn't even look, she told him, "I told her yesterday we didn't have a king room." The family room was ok, it did not have a king bed, the shower was so tiny. The stove burners would only cook on high. The heat kept us extremely hot at night but not very warm during the day. It would be great for a family, but as a couple we didn't have much room. And never used the upstairs. I was so disappointed as this has always been my favorite place. We have gone here several times the last four or five years. read more

Keep in mind that this part of the motel was built in the 1930's. Mattresses may be original. Location is everything so I did enjoy easy access to a stupendous beach. But this section is sorely neglected. Some outlets didn't work, the kitchen faucet has a surprise face-washing feature and the stairs to a bonus sleeping area challenge one's balance. It seems over-priced but is very popular. I recommend avoiding the "quaint" older rooms. (We stayed in #4.) read more

The view is amazing...you really can't beat it. It's just a short walk to the ocean from your room, and there's a nice trail already cut out for you to walk down to the sea. Really the only complaint I have is how outdated our room was. We had room 10, and were somewhat disappointed with it. The bed was fine, and all the amenities worked - it was nice having a kitchen where we could cook our own meals, but it was just outdated in style and paint. Also, when the cleaners came they did everything except make our bed, which I thought was odd. The lady who checked us in was super nice and friendly so not too much to complain about! read more

Disgusting 3 weeks of doctors, $'s, creams and scratching later I am finally ready to write about it. Called 4 days later and told front desk part time girl to let owners know to fumigate room 12 to kill mites, she apologized and owner called to say the checked but no bugs...thats it. After being in emergency, spending 4 sleepless nights as you could imagine not happy with response and hung up. Great views and easy beach access. We had an upstairs King Kitchenette with a nice little balcony and were blessed with great weather. Though we didn't have our dog, it is dog friendly so next time she comes with us. Room was comfortable with good wifi connection, TV with lots of channels if you want to waste your time doing something you can do at home. Have stayed at a couple of other Bandon motels in the past but with the beach access, the cottage style this will be our preferred place in the future. Also one quick comment about a couple of very negative reviews regarding scabies. I know that they were older reviews but if the reviewers would have done some research they would have found that it takes 4-6 weeks for symptoms to appear, so they were infected long before their stay ( check cdc.gov for facts about a variety of diseases) read more
