In today's episode of "Things that seem out of character" -- Nathasja did not pre research and/or book a hotel for this leg of her trip and spontaneously decided to stay at motel. Haaaa. Yeah, so that happened.. weird, right? Better yet - I actually kindof loved it! Look at me not being OCD (yet OCD enough to consult Yelp before a final booking, sigh). Either way, how I got here is here nor there - once I arrived I was very glad that I did not prebook a predictable, always the same, big chain hotel. I LOVED the location, obviously you cannot beat having the Pacific right outside your window. Also, natural white noise beats an app any time - big fat yay for sleeping with the windows open! The room was spotless, comfortable, obviously nothing fancy, but great overall! Strange detail, the towels here are super plush and soft - best towels of any place we've stayed at. Really though, you cannot beat the location here. Set a few steps out your room and you are out on Coquille Point, wind in your hair, toes in the sand. A perfect start or ending to any day!

Panoramic, Million Dollar Ocean Views! Picturesque stretch of coastline just right by the Motel! I stayed here 2 weeks already and this is my last day and I don't want to leave! You will awake in the morning hearing the sounds of the sea, splashing waves, and sea-gull-screams. You will feel the serenity, warmth of never ending freedom! This is a really great family owned beach motel! besides, Bandon is Great, Great place to visit, Don't forget to visit West Coast Wild Animal Pet Safari I played with tiger and bear! (I went there by bus) & Bandon beach riding stables while you're in Bandon! They will come pick you up to the motel I have had So much fun!!

We were absolutely delighted with this place. Some people (and Yelp reviewers) are not going to find this a 5-star stay, but it is TOPS on my list! If you are looking for a luxury hotel with a spa where you are comfortable hanging out indoors for most of the day, maybe this is not the place for you. But if you want to explore the most amazing beach I have ever found and enjoy the beautiful little town of Bandon, then you will NOT find a better place OR a better price. We took a 16 night vacation and stayed in 5 hotels - this was our favorite. We stayed 6 nights, and while the building is older and the outdoor carpets are wearing thin, the place is CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, and the staff is very friendly. I see some complaints here about the price, but maybe those people didn't check to see what else is available in this area. Yes, you can find newer rooms, certainly more luxurious rooms for the same price range, but NOT if you want the view and the instant access to the beach, and most of those "newer" places don't offer kitchens in your room. I LOVED having our little kitchenette. We cooked most meals in our room saving the cost of eating out every day. I spent every minute I could on the beach or on the cliffs above, photographing the beach and then slept like a baby in the comfy bed. SUPER FAST wi-fi connection was greatly appreciated since we were blogging our trip photos as we went. So if you are looking for a hotel room to hang out in all day, maybe not here. If you are looking for a comfy place to sleep after playing on the beach all day - 5 stars! One REALLY minor complaint: if you love super hot showers like i do, CLOSE the bathroom door so your smoke detector doesn't go off from the steam! :)

Amazing sunset in Bandon just a few steps from the motel

Remember that when you come here, it's all about the location. We literally have the beach just a few steps from the bedroom. Each room on the ground level has a door and patio that leads outside to the trail by the water. If you happen to book in advance: be sure to request a corner room that has the best view in the motel. Do not expect a 5 star bedroom. Some of the beds are dated and not the most comfortable so if you feel like bringing that nice firm air mattress, that would probably be more comfortable than what they have. The front desk is super helpful, accommodating and will be there for you every step of the way during your stay! They tend to have peak prices for summer and cheaper deals in the winter time. The stairs that lead down the water is closed during the winter time but there's a trail just beside the hotel that leads down anyway.

This place was terrific! Right on the beach in a quiet part of Bandon. There is a path along the coast to go for a morning stroll with a coffee. The rooms are clean and well kept. The service from the staff was warm and inviting. I called ahead to ask about availability and rates and was given a bargain rate with little hassle or negotiation. I had gotten a beach view room with a tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave for a steal. The staff really took are of us here and made sure to have us back again, very nice people! I will be sure to come back here if I ever stay in Bandon again.

This is a pretty awesome motel. It's *right* on the beach at the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. You could get a better view from someplace else, but it's doubtful. The motel itself is dated from the outside. However, the inside has been reasonably updated and is in good working order. We had a room on the first floor, with a gorgeous view outside, and the price was *under $100.* This isn't the type of place that'll have the office open at all hours. If you're going to be there after 9 pm, let the front desk know so that they can make alternate arrangements for you to get your keys.

    Out our window.

Fantastic views and very friendly staff! Great price too! We found Bandon on our drive North on the 101. The town nearby has great food and the hotel is literally RIGHT on the beach. You can sleep with the window open and listen to the crashing waves through the night. In the morning, the beach is trail is at your doorstep. Perfect for a morning walk or run on the beach. Bottom line: a great find at the right price. We'll be coming back.

Per the tip... view is good. We had a warm bed, easy coastal access, and kind staff. Many opportunities with the amenities, feels like it may be a step away from a weekly rate spot. But you don't go to the coast to stay in your room all day, do you!?!

We stopped at this motel for one night. It's small, clean, and the ocean view is spectacular. The owners were super friendly. Bandon is a small town so it was difficult to find something to eat. Majority of the good restaurants only open after 5pm. There is a supermarket not too far from this motel. Overall, we had a great time.

I was surprised by how much i loved it, because to look at the thumbnail on Booking.com, it didn't look too attractive, and at first, i skipped past it. Bandon isn't a big place though, an the price was right for The Bandon Inn, so i booked a room. Obviously being on the coast, it has a strong coastal theme in the lobby, which is very cosily appointed, and welcoming. The check in was smooth, and the lady very helpful. The one thing i was not such a fan of was the continental breakfast (i never like any of the options, yogurt, pastries, fruit, cereal, hard-boiled egg - no thank you) And not only didn't i like anything available in this continental breakfast, we were handed a sheet of paper, and asked to say what time we would be coming to breakfast, AND pre-order which items you'd like. For a start, I'm on vacation, so I'm not setting any alarms, and as i said, I'm not into that sort of thing, so i asked her where I could get PROPER breakfast, and she gave multiple options that were available. She was very helpful. We were directed to our room, which was in an outside long building, and you went down some concrete steps, and into the room. I was instantly charmed by the room. We had a balcony!!! With a panoramic coastal view. This is because the long buildings are set above the town, on coastal bluffs. Beautiful. And 2 armchairs and a side table next to the balcony window so you could look out over the town below, and the sweeping coastline. A really nice room, and an affordable price. The temperature of the room was cool and perfect (highly important to me, as i get too hot very easily) I didn't need to put the air conditioning on, as it was already exactly cool enough for me. There's a pathway down to the town below if you don't want to drive there, but we didn't notice it until after we came back from breakfast. It's a very clean hotel. Excellent views, and if you like continental breakfast, you'd give this 5 stars. As it is, it's my 2nd favourite of the 5 hotels, and I would have no hesitation in returning, as I was absolutely charmed by the town of Bandon

Everything is small. The beds, the rooms, the stove, the shower, the toilet. All smaller than you are used to. Definitely not ADA accessible. - This place is old. It smells like your Great Aunt's house and you'll be checking the cupboards for Ribbon Candy. - The place is clean. Spotless. Linens were fresh and not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. Dishes, cups, everything. Super clean. - It's not modern. At all. You'll use a real key. You'll get a handwritten receipt for your stay. The WiFi is a strange little router plugged in to a random ceiling plug. The stove is small and has coil burners. - It has great beach access. Out your back door and a few steps away. Okay, several steps but still close. - Close to the old town. You're about a 5 minute drive to the old downtown and far off the highway so there is no noise. - It's expensive. A tad uncomfortable with the price but you're paying for the beach access and view. There is a chain hotel across the street that is significantly cheaper but if you want the access, get your credit card out. Hotels / motels are limited in this town and this was the best option we saw. We will stay here again. Once you get over the "weird" of the room set up (it takes about an hour) you will really like the place.

This review is difficult for me to write because, honestly, I wanted to love this place…read more The location is beautiful. The proximity to the beach is outstanding, the setting is relaxing, and the property has tremendous potential to provide a wonderful coastal experience. That is part of what makes this experience so disappointing. I did not want to write this review out of anger or spite. In fact, my initial goal was simply to alert management to a serious issue so it could be addressed before another guest experienced the same thing. During my stay, I discovered multiple bed bugs on the bedding. I photographed the insects, photographed where they were found, and documented the resulting bites. The issue was significant enough that we felt unsafe remaining in the room. What happened next was even more disappointing than the discovery itself. We immediately attempted to contact the hotel for assistance. We called the regular hotel phone number, called the emergency contact number posted on the office door, and sent multiple emails. Despite repeated attempts, we received no response. With no assistance available, we were forced to find alternative accommodations late at night, around 10:00 PM, incurring additional expenses, stress, disruption to our travel plans, and concern about possible exposure to our belongings. The following morning, because all of our attempts to contact management had gone unanswered, we returned to the property in person to speak with management directly. I was not looking for a confrontation. I was looking for compassion, accountability, and reassurance that the matter would be taken seriously. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and treated as though my concerns were an inconvenience rather than a legitimate health and safety issue. I will also note that management declined to accept responsibility for the condition of the room. While I cannot speak to when the issue originated or whether management was previously aware of it, the number of insects I discovered and documented left me deeply concerned about the extent of the problem. To management's credit, a refund was eventually issued. However, a refund does not erase the experience, the inconvenience of having to relocate late at night, the bites, the anxiety of potentially bringing bed bugs home, or the feeling that our concerns were not genuinely heard. What troubles me most is that I sincerely expressed my hope that the issue was isolated and encouraged management to thoroughly investigate it for the protection of future guests. My purpose then, and now, is not retaliation. It is concern that another family may unknowingly find themselves in the same position. I hope the hotel conducts a thorough inspection and remediation of any affected rooms. Every guest deserves a clean, safe place to sleep and a management team that responds promptly and compassionately when serious concerns arise.

Hosteling is very different from hotelling, and it is NOT for everyone, so I would rate this 3 or 4 stars for a hostel, but if you compare it to a regular hotel, i have no idea. Hostels are not camping, not bed and breakfasts, but nor are they hotels or motels, so I have no idea really how to rate them, except hostel to hostel. Hosteling is affordable, social and educational. Someday I'd love to own a hostel.
