From the outside you might say oh oh especially when they hand you a room key (Yes a room Key - no electronic key or key card - lol see picture below)The room was clean nice size with a small frig and microwave in room. The room is also equipped with small coffee pot - no kuerig. The coffee was better then what I had yesterday at another motel that I stayed at - that was a kuerig We had an upstairs room with a small balcony that faced the ocean. The motel is right on the bluff overlooking beach and ocean. Beach access is literally right outside down the stairs to the beach. There is no elevator so if you have mobility issues stay downstairs. Also, no ice machine. If you need ice you have to buy at a store. read more

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel because it is right on the beach. However, I was a bit disappointed in the room. This place doesn't seem like a 3 star hotel to me. It was more like a 2 star hotel. I felt like the rooms had been sprayed with way too air freshener. But there were a lot of good things about the property. First off, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a bunch of questions when booking and they were happy to answer all my questions. Second, you can't beat the location. Literally ten steps out of your room and you reach the stairs down to the beach. The beach is breathtaking. Lastly, they are pet friendly. It's $20 extra for a dog, which is a steal. They also have a dog/feet washing station when you get back up from the beach. It was a great hotel if you're looking for a 2 star hotel. But if your expecting like the Marriott, you'll be disappointed. read more

In today's episode of "Things that seem out of character" -- Nathasja did not pre research and/or book a hotel for this leg of her trip and spontaneously decided to stay at motel. Haaaa. Yeah, so that happened.. weird, right? Better yet - I actually kindof loved it! Look at me not being OCD (yet OCD enough to consult Yelp before a final booking, sigh). Either way, how I got here is here nor there - once I arrived I was very glad that I did not prebook a predictable, always the same, big chain hotel. I LOVED the location, obviously you cannot beat having the Pacific right outside your window. Also, natural white noise beats an app any time - big fat yay for sleeping with the windows open! The room was spotless, comfortable, obviously nothing fancy, but great overall! Strange detail, the towels here are super plush and soft - best towels of any place we've stayed at. Really though, you cannot beat the location here. Set a few steps out your room and you are out on Coquille Point, wind in your hair, toes in the sand. This is a lovely family owned hotel. Each room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The owners are kind enough to not put children above anybody else so everybody has an enjoyable stay. They have multiple types of rooms. Single king size beds, double queen beds and a room truly designed for larger groups with a queen and two twins. The down home atmosphere and the easy access to some of the most beautiful beaches is truly worth the drive from anywhere. I also love that its family owned with a picture of the family in the main lobby. Can you find your host in the picture? Say "Hi" to Pearl if you're a doggy lover! read more

We were absolutely delighted with this place. Some people (and Yelp reviewers) are not going to find this a 5-star stay, but it is TOPS on my list! If you are looking for a luxury hotel with a spa where you are comfortable hanging out indoors for most of the day, maybe this is not the place for you. But if you want to explore the most amazing beach I have ever found and enjoy the beautiful little town of Bandon, then you will NOT find a better place OR a better price. We took a 16 night vacation and stayed in 5 hotels - this was our favorite. We stayed 6 nights, and while the building is older and the outdoor carpets are wearing thin, the place is CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, and the staff is very friendly. I see some complaints here about the price, but maybe those people didn't check to see what else is available in this area. Yes, you can find newer rooms, certainly more luxurious rooms for the same price range, but NOT if you want the view and the instant access to the beach, and most of those "newer" places don't offer kitchens in your room. I LOVED having our little kitchenette. We cooked most meals in our room saving the cost of eating out every day. I spent every minute I could on the beach or on the cliffs above, photographing the beach and then slept like a baby in the comfy bed. SUPER FAST wi-fi connection was greatly appreciated since we were blogging our trip photos as we went. So if you are looking for a hotel room to hang out in all day, maybe not here. If you are looking for a comfy place to sleep after playing on the beach all day - 5 stars! One REALLY minor complaint: if you love super hot showers like i do, CLOSE the bathroom door so your smoke detector doesn't go off from the steam! :) read more

Remember that when you come here, it's all about the location. We literally have the beach just a few steps from the bedroom. Each room on the ground level has a door and patio that leads outside to the trail by the water. If you happen to book in advance: be sure to request a corner room that has the best view in the motel. Do not expect a 5 star bedroom. Some of the beds are dated and not the most comfortable so if you feel like bringing that nice firm air mattress, that would probably be more comfortable than what they have. The front desk is super helpful, accommodating and will be there for you every step of the way during your stay! They tend to have peak prices for summer and cheaper deals in the winter time. The stairs that lead down the water is closed during the winter time but there's a trail just beside the hotel that leads down anyway. read more

This place was terrific! Right on the beach in a quiet part of Bandon. There is a path along the coast to go for a morning stroll with a coffee. The rooms are clean and well kept. The service from the staff was warm and inviting. I called ahead to ask about availability and rates and was given a bargain rate with little hassle or negotiation. I had gotten a beach view room with a tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave for a steal. The staff really took are of us here and made sure to have us back again, very nice people! I will be sure to come back here if I ever stay in Bandon again. read more

This is a pretty awesome motel. It's *right* on the beach at the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. You could get a better view from someplace else, but it's doubtful. The motel itself is dated from the outside. However, the inside has been reasonably updated and is in good working order. We had a room on the first floor, with a gorgeous view outside, and the price was *under $100.* This isn't the type of place that'll have the office open at all hours. If you're going to be there after 9 pm, let the front desk know so that they can make alternate arrangements for you to get your keys. read more

Fantastic views and very friendly staff! Great price too! We found Bandon on our drive North on the 101. The town nearby has great food and the hotel is literally RIGHT on the beach. You can sleep with the window open and listen to the crashing waves through the night. In the morning, the beach is trail is at your doorstep. Perfect for a morning walk or run on the beach. Whoa, Yelp......your review scheme usually brings me to the right stuff......not so, this time. I'm not sure how that happened, but I'll certainly try to rectify it. I found this "gem" by noting the rating and the number of ratings for the area as being notably good. Went on faith, and reserved a room. I should have guessed something was amiss when it was expected that I settle the bill before seeing the room. THAT was certainly my error! Moreso, because I should have just walked straight down and cancelled when I had to shove two open trash cans aside to enter the hallway for my second-floor room. The most tepid reviewer said she thought the rooms......might......have been updated since the 80's. I agree. There's an absolute "Miami Vice" look to furnishings and fittings. It's bloody horrific.....and NOT in a "kitschy Oregon Coast" kinda way......it's just dirty, unkempt, and tatty. The towels are thin and smell odd. The shampoo and soaps will make you wish for the "luxury" of something institutional. The carpet was simply gross. I think their vacuum might have been updated when the furnishings were. I know it's super hard to deal with sand at the beach.......but, for heavens sake! The bed was hard and unyielding......which I actually prefer......but this one was just awful (also sandy!) The capstone was the "super-considerate" family that arrived late and had their unruly brats playing tag and gallumping in the hallways until after 11pm. (Not really a hotel feature......but it illustrates how thin the walls are.) I honestly try to go out of my way to find positives for my reviews. It's really difficult here. The views and location ARE everything you could wish for.......but it just can't overcome how awful the rest of the experience is. After a ridiculously fitful attempt at sleeping, my wife and I were up at 0500 and out the door. Literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had......and that counts the time I got a room infested with fleas in Baker County. There were out of state plates all over the parking lot.....so I assume others were taken in by the inexplicably good reviews. Seriously folks, drive to the free parking lot for the beach access. WOW!!! What a hotel!!! You cannot believe this place!! The views of Bandon Beach are where you just START! Believe me, the views are incredible, and you are afforded a spectacular location to watch the sunset into the ocean. But, the rooms! We stayed in a king bed on the north west corner of the motel. Solitude, peace... the only sounds from outside being the waves crashing on shore, the wind, and a low, lonely moan of a very distant fog horn. The bed was so warm and comfortable... we didn't want to leave! There was an electric fireplace in the corner that kept the chill out of the air, and the towels for our showers were so very soft. This five star experience began right from the warm greeting at the front desk, and rolled right through our stay. If you're in the Bandon area, make every effort to stay at the Bandon Beach Motel. This is just an "ok" place to stay. Great view of the ocean but Very old in the wing we stayed in. Wood paneling walls, 1950s bathroom but the most frustrating was the only access was a sliding glass door with no screen. For safety reasons, we closed the sliding door at night and our little room became very warm. There is no AC. Great for a one night stay. read more

Only complaint is the mattress. Overall my experience here and with the staff was amazing. Booking started off with a pleasant phone call with a gentleman whom was more than helpful in finding us a pet-friendly room and coordinating check-in and out times with our uncertain travel times. Upon arrival, the same gentleman was just as cheery and pleasant to deal with. He was incredibly helpful with everything. The rooms have great views of the coast and are conveniently located just up some stairs from the shoreline. It's apparent they have done some upgrades to the rooms- new tvs, nice flooring and room appearance. After phasing in more comfortable mattresses, this place would be perfect. Overall, I would without a doubt stay here again. Perfect location for gorgeous Oregon coast views that I can enjoy with my pup! read more

I wouldn't stay here again. I had done some reading and research online, and was expecting a beautiful view and an outdated but moderately appointed motel. I got my view, but outdated would be an understatement. The motel had that rundown, side of the road vibe - driving up, I had that feeling "Uh-oh, I hope this isn't our place... oh, crap, this is our place." Plus, the room smelled really musty and stale; the "wood-burning fireplace" came with a self-burning wrapped log and strict instructions not to burn any actual wood; and there was a washcloth left out with "cute" instructions to use it for removing makeup or cleaning up spills. This motel is tacky and old, not charming and outdated. Plus, it's quite far from the restaurant and shopping area of Bandon. If ALL you want is a view and a bed, it's fine, but like I said - I wouldn't stay here again. read more

If you're in a dreary East coast city, sure you want the Four Seasons to make up for having to be in a terribly crowded, non-scenic locale, but if you are on the beautiful Pacific Coast, who needs robes, jet tubs, and flat-screen TV's when you can see and hear the ocean? The bed was okay, a bit hard for my taste, but the waves soothed me to sleep, and waking up to the sound of waves crashing on the sand is my ephemeral bliss. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly, as well. The price point was VERY reasonable, maybe because it was off season, but I paid $85 for a clean room with 2 queen beds, a balcony, and a spectacular view. read more

We went on our family vacation in summer of 2010 down the Oregon coast and Bandon is a great little town. Bandon Beach Motel is great for families with a dog. We have kids and a Boxer so finding this gem right on the cliff above the most fantastic beach ever was a dream come true. The cost was not high and we were comfortable during our stay. I think this place was the cheapest motel we stayed in during our trip. We spent more time on the beach than the motel. I am not kidding about how close it is to the beach. read more

This is our second time here. What a great place! The hotel is very clean, and has a great location on the cliffs by the beach. Every room has a view of some sort. I'm not sure if I'd left a review the last time I was here, so I made sure to leave a review this time. The man at the reservation desk is super friendly! The hotel comes equipped with a nice little deck, so you can sit outside. There is also a staircase that leads down to the beach which is awesome for a nice beach walk. Having a good cup of coffee in the morning and sitting on the deck looking at the view set the pace for the day. The Bandon Beach Motel is at 1090 Portland Ave SW. The property at this address formerly was called the Gorman Motel, but new owners have changed the name and evidently improved it. I stayed in April 2011. The Bandon Beach Motel is a small, family-run motel perched on the cliffs of the Oregon coast. For a very reasonable price I got a spacious room overlooking the ocean, with a small patio that opened that opened onto a park. Stairs down to the beach were no more than 50' away. It's true that this is an older property. The hallways looked very shabby. The furnishings in my room were dated and worn. Everything in the room was clean and in working order, though. I give the Bandon Beach Motel 4 stars overall because the property is showing its age. If you're willing to accept basic accommodations, it's a 5-star value. I'll definitely stay again when I return to town. read more

Great views, friendly staff, and affordable rooms are the upside to this place. The downside is that the rooms are pretty funky, but not in a cute kitschy, northwest kind of way. More like things were updated to a late 80's beach style (but more recently than the 80's). I think there is probably a lot of deferred maintenance that should happen to this place. But- it is reflected in the cost. It is nice to have views for an affordable rate. My biggest disappointment was the deck (which I really almost require in an ocean view room). It was BARELY big enough for two plastic chairs to fit. Eating out there would be uncomfortable and tricky. AND if your neighbor happens to want to be out at the same time there is zero privacy. You are essentially sharing a mini deck. I would recommend the place due to the staff, views, and cost. We will probably be back! read more
