Negatives : When we first walked in it looked very clean, nice big room.Then after being in the room we noticed that almost every corner on the floor there was a spiderweb, found about 5 spiders crawling around. The room doesn't have carpet only a rug at the foot of the beds, stains, so many stains on the rug. A table was dirty and sticky as well as the floor. Went outside to look for the ice machine, found it full of spiderwebs and dirty, and of course out of order along with the soda machine next to it. This is a Vacasa motel, there isn't a live person in the office to report any type of issues, must call a 800 number if there is an issue. Other than all the webs and spiders we enjoy our time on Bandon. read more

Please forgive me this review is from a long time ago, September 2019 when we traveled and drove the coastline of Oregon. This motel is adorable. When we were there the rooms are really cute and very very clean. Our bed was very comfortable. There is no air conditioning , but hey this is Oregon and the motel is near the ocean with lots of windows. We had cool breezes the whole time we stayed here. We were so happy that Laundry Mat was only 50 feet away for us, because we only take about a week of clothes for a two week plus trip. The Owners are really nice and helpful with places visit, and suggestions for wonderful restaurants to eat. Would be come back. Yes, Yes and Yes. read more

It's a small location, 15 or so rooms. Very clean, cute and quiet. They're located right right off the main road, across the street is a couple stores and a small coffee shop. The room itself is cute, well done and themed with a sea creature. They have a fridge and microwave. I packed some pre-made meals to cut the cost of food and will warm up what I need. The shower is big, water warm enough. It's cold here most of the time so don't be fooled just because it's by the beach that it's warm. You will need a jacket and not just a sweater most the time. They're about 30 to 45 minutes away from Coos Bay and they're 6 minutes away from the Bandon Beach. It's directly next door to a beautiful Christian church. They are also directly next door to a laundry mat in case you need to wash clothes and a car wash/ vacuum place for all us travelers. They have a designated smoking area AWAY from the rooms so no one can blow smoke in your face by accident. My favorite thing about it was I brought my pups. They had a clean floor, the room was clean. The place was quiet even with other dogs but of course that could change depending on the dogs. One note of a con: the windows did not have proper coverage. There is a gap in curtain closure in the middle. The second shade they have is almost a mesh material so you can definitely see through it. I had to pin it shut with the little table in the room. Other than that I loved it here. read more

You get what you pay for. Looks cute in pics but be warned it's an old building and the renovations are not that great. Paint and plaster are peeling off the bathroom walls, the light fixture drips rust onto the sink so don't leave anything on it, there were weird little bugs in the room (it was pretty cold so was surprised to see bugs at all) and it had an overall musty stench. There were various types of hair all over the headboards and pillows. Shower curtain was pink and brown stained at the bottom due to mildew. The maid doesn't do a deep cleaning, just a wipe-over and it's obvious. Spend the extra $ and go someplace else. read more

Just waking up from a night at the Lamplighter in Bandon. This is a classic roadside motel, small and quaint, and unexpectedly charming. And clean! Possibly the cleanest, most well-kept lodging I've ever visited. You can tell the owners took great pains to fix up this old place and maintain it very well. My first impression of the Lamplighter came from a phone conversation verifying my reservation. The woman on the phone was very nice and accommodating from the start. I'm traveling with my seven-year-old son and mentioned this and she immediately offered to wheel in a foldaway bed for him. When we arrived, she remembered the conversation and informed me that there was a cancellation and that their "family room" was available. For an extra twelve bucks, we went from one full sized bed to two full sized beds and a twin in a room decorated with turtles! My kid was so stoked. We borrowed a few board games from the office and were able to stretch out and enjoy a welcoming accommodation rather than just have a place to rest our heads for the night. And the prices are so reasonable. I'm so used to staying in workaday standard lodgings with people who just don't care, and frankly, that's fine, it's what I've come to expect. Which is why it's so, so, so, so pleasant to find myself at what is ultimately a "boutique roadside motel" in a very pleasant little coastal town. If I find myself staying in Bandon again, I will not hesitate to book a room at Lamplighter and would recommend others do the same. There's no ocean view, no fancy stuff, just a very clean, well-maintained and super friendly motel at a very good price. Save your money and go spend it on some awesome seafood or something. read more

I stayed here over the weekend and can only say great things about it. Check in was easy and fast. I was booked into room 1. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the beautiful lighthouse art on the walls and the clean smell. The room was spacious with plenty of room at the table as well as in the bathroom. The hosts are friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions about Bandon as well as made dining recommendations. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept on in a long time. Newly renovated rooms with laminate wood floor, new comfortable beds, flat screen TV, fast internet, large tub, built-in bathroom heater, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and best of all, clean! It is on the main road, but the windows are in the opposite side of the building than the traffic so it is very quiet. Owners are very kind and accommodating. We will be staying here from now on. Absolutely thrilled with the Lamplighter Inn. This place looks retro on the outside, but very modern in the inside. The owner was very personable and welcoming to my husband, and I and very helpful with our questions regarding local restaurants. The room we stayed in was big enough for 4 people, but my reservation was for 2, so we had plenty of room to spread out all of our stuff. Our room was a sea turtle theme, and so pretty. One of the walls in the room had a beautiful mural of a sea turtle (see pictures). Linens were new, clean and beautiful. The beds were new and dreamy comfy. Nice shower. No fan in the bathroom, but the room had a window, so that worked as a substitute. The room also had a nice flat screen on the wall with Dish satellite service. Not a lot of channels, but that was fine with my husband, and I. So, if you're coming to Bandon, give them a try because they are fairly priced, clean, roomy and very comfortable. read more

Great little motel. It is so hard to review a motel. It is also hard to read a mote review and gauge how helpful or applicable to you it will be. The price, the staff, and the room were excellent for the price and the area. It is an older building and my biggest complaint was that the shower was very loud. But I would definitely return. It fills up fast, so that should tell you a lot. They have free breakfast in the morning and the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful about the area. The bed and bedding were comfortable. I appreciate the appliances, too. I think some earlier reviews said there wasn't a blow dryer. My room had all the standards: blow dryer, coffee maker, nice television, alarm clock, fridge, and microwave. It is a 5 minute drive from the downtown area and totally walkable if you have the time. read more

Wonderfully clean! My first impression was an older motel, but certainly we'll kept. Owner is very personable and gave us ideas for dinner around town. We paid around $60 for a single queen and that is less than the motels closer to shopping and dining. Lamplighters is a little over a mile from the waterfront restaurants, certainly worth staying outside of walking distance. Wow-we entered our room and there was absolutely no smell--no chemical smell from cleaners, no old smoke.A delight and great first look. Super clean, even the corners are clean. The bed linens are soft, the blanket just right, the mattress was very comfortable ( picky sleepers as we have a sleep number bed at home).Lots of tv channels and updated TV, wi-if is included and fast. No hair dryer,no shampoo, nor coffee pot, but coffee in the office in the morning. There is a microwave and fridge and that is much nicer than a lot of places especially for the price. read more

Sweet throwback look with charm and comfort. Very comfortable hotel with a different "theme" for each room. Our room had three beds, a queen for my hubby, a queen for me, and a twin for our 16yr old son, so perfect night sleep for anyone who is tired of being in a cramped car after a long days drive. Good location close enough to the beach, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of tourist trap area. Didn't like the close (and loud) proximity to a major highway, but shopping area and, most importantly, a fantastic coffee hut and grocery store right across the street. Talk about strange. I knew Lamplighter as the kind of motel with moldy shag carpeting with body chalk outlines. Cheap and you got what you paid for as Bandon is a screw-it-to-you coast town even in the off season. I had been working out of town and rather than drive the 290 miles home over snowy passes and back again in two days I opted to find a cheap flop out of pocket in the area. So I drove in and the place was deserted, like the opening shot of a horror movie, barely lit with pouring rain. There's a note on the office door telling visitors to go to vacasa.com. I go online and see all these rooms have been remarketed to niche theme rooms that you rent online and are given a passcode to get into your room. Cutsie little options like the sea turtle room, the whale room, the mermaid room... you get the idea. I'm hopeful, the pictures look good and at the bottom it captions this room averages $50/nt. Then I wonder if all these rooms are only fifty bucks a night and they're apparently survivable then where are the people? I had to start the booking process before the $170 to $200 per night rates started showing up. Early December is as off season as it gets on the Oregon coast (good luck finding a restaurant open after 8pm), so as far as that fifty dollar average they must rent the rooms out at ten bucks a night in the spring. As nicely as they were remodeled, you know you're still going to smell the musky moldy odor motels that old are going to have. I tire of the bulls**t bait and switch these online companies do anymore. I went inland a little bit and found a decent room at $65/nt night desk and all. read more

So CUUUTE! I just stayed in the turtle room with 2 full beds and it was very nicely decorated, clean, comfortable, and had USB CHARGERS, which is so convenient and I love it. The outside is just as lovely. It's close to the ocean, there's a beautiful sunset right outside in a quiet cozy town, and felt very safe here. A small downside is I could not find the thermostat/heater. There's a little heater in the bathroom and what looked like a thermostat in the room but either wasn't working or wasn't the thermostat. Woke up to a cold room. Other than that, it was amazing. Loved Horatio the turtle! Lovely inn and host, and very affordable! Would definitely stay again! read more

The caretakers are perfectionists. This is like staying in a 1970's era hotel EXCEPT that the place is meticulously clean. Even the carpet is new. There is no shampoo, no blow dryer, and no frills. However, the TV works great with lots of channels. Forget the look of the place and the car wash next door. This is a good deal, and I hope it is here on my next trip through. read more

a totally great find! booked this neat little motel on booking.com, based solely on the reviews on there and on here for a one night stay in late september. the favorable reviews were spot on, and we are really glad we booked here. 6pm check-in was a breeze and the desk clerk was really upbeat and outgoing. she had great suggestions for places to go and eat and you could tell she was really sincere about welcoming us to this motel. the room was great! it was super clean, well decorated and appointed, and had obviously been very recently redone or freshened. very nice job! bed was super comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. a very enjoyable one night stay,,,,if in bandon again, we would definitely re book here. oh, and another little thing that really made an nice impression was that the housekeeper, instead of the normal V-shape fold on the toilet paper roll, fashioned a paper rosette,,,really unique and something i had never seen before. ;o) read more

Great rates, super clean rooms and great location. Was a little bummed I got a room for 3 notes that smelled like heavy vinegar. Dog pissed on the carpet and was told it's better than smelling urine. My husband and I live two hours away and decided last minute to get away for the weekend. This little inn is a hidden gem! I'm always skeptical of places we've never stayed at before, but the Lamplighter Inn is perfect. It was significantly cleaner than any other hotel I've stayed at, no matter how nice or expensive.
