I loved the Itty Bitty Inn so much!!!…read more This is easily the best motel that I have ever stayed at - or even heard of, for that matter. It is, in fact, so much better than the second-best motel that I don't even know what the second-best motel I've been to is! Not only is the Itty Bitty Inn now a must-stay for me on my next trip up the Oregon Coast, but it is so great that it has dramatically increased the likelihood that I will be driving back up the Coast soon. I'm still shocked that the Lonely Planet guide didn't mention it. Rick (the owner) is the coolest. The first thing that he did was give my friend and I a rundown of Coos Bay hotspots. Then he showed us to our beautifully decorated and upholstered rooms - we had the two Tiki-themed rooms, each of which had too much detail to even be done justice by a picture. He proceeded to then pour us complementary beers and directed us to the outdoor patio for lounging and decompression after our trip. I felt like the King of France! I now absolutely need to stay in every one of the rooms for at least a night (there are 5 total, each with a different theme). This is no trivial feat, as apparently new complete redesigns are always in the planning stages. I can't wait to see the place next time I'm in town!!!

It started with Brandy who took our reservation. Extremely nice and gave us some great tips about the area. We were visiting for the first time. It was a total chill experience. Easy to go down the elevator and hit the casino. We went to a Billy Nation concert at the casino. They are a cover band for Billy Joel. The guy sounded better than Billy Joel! Ate at the Timber restaurant three times for breakfast and it was very good. Clean place. Pool is really nice and has two hot tubs. There is a walkway out the back door with a beautiful view of the water. I got my steps in walking down the promenade. Joe, the guy who maintains the lobby is a hell of a nice guy. Always had a "Hi Mike" to me and asked if I needed anything. Joe is extremely proud of his job and had nothing but good things to say about his employment there. 19 years and the guy is still happy going to work. That's the kind of stuff that makes me feel good about people. Great guy. Laura who works in housekeeping took care of us. She knows her job and isn't afraid to step in and help. Great work ethic. Our kids and their friends go to the Oregon Dunes to ride their Can-Ams and quads. We decided to leave our camper home and stay at Ko Kwel. So happy we did.

Of course got a noise complaint and instead of the kids enjoying the hotel stay we felt like we had to constantly tell them to have quiet feet and quiet voices. Also you are not able to leave your dog in the room at all. So we couldn't all use the pool as a family. It was a huge bummer.

We enjoyed the 24/7 coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Each room has a small refrigerator and single cup Cuisinart coffee maker in the room. There is a communal microwave in the lobby to heat up food as well as a small pay snack counter for quick bites. They have an indoor pool (which was a little too cool for me, but I do believe it is heated). A small gym with bathrooms and filtered water machine. (Sadly the hot tub is covered up and not available) There are no elevators in this two story property. But it looks like every room has a balcony on the second floor and patio on the first floor on the water view side. They also have a "motel"style wing which the doors are entered through the parking lot. These rooms, I was told were "Pet friendly" rooms and have no carpet on the floors. We were in room 126 on the ground floor. The room was comfortable. Large flat screen TV, comfy sitting chair with a small desk top tray, mini fridge and dresser. Bathroom was stocked with pump shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Also where the vanity was, there was a small open style closet and shelving which was great! Additionally there was an ironing board and iron and a hair dryer. The lighting situation is terrible. It would be nice if they had a switch to the lights in the room and not have to rely on finding where the switch is on the lamps. And the mattresses were not the best. I was told they were all new mattresses when they did the remodel. Not sure if it was just our room or if all the mattresses in the hotel were like this, but it really was the only big issue I had. I didn't have terrible sleeps but they are worth noting because they are not supportive mattresses at all! I made my reservations with an off site reservastionist and the guy really messed up a lot of information on my reservation. The big one being that there was an elevator. The GM, Amber, was amazing and honored the reservation price and was able to get me a room downstairs and had been a pleasant sight every day since we had arrived. Outside we enjoyed the 2 chairs and small table on our small patio that overlooked the water. Overall I'd give this place a 4.5 star rating. Beds really being my only complaint. The staff became family and were all so friendly! We will be back! Special shout-out to Amber and Chris who really took time to make us feel welcomed and share their local favorites with us.

There were no washrags. The sink stopper did not work. Floors in bathroom were dirty. The refrigerator had food left in it from previous tenant. No housekeeping services available. The tv only worked sporadically. I reserved 4 rooms that were to each have 2 queen będs on a ground floor but when I got there they said the reservation was for 4 singles & they were all upstairs. Not at all suitable for someone with handicaps. They changed 2 of them to queen doubles but said there was nothing else they could do so we shared the best we come old. Also, although I thought that the reservation was made through them because I called the number on their website, they said it was actually made through Agoda and they could not mąkę adjustments for the problems that it had to be done through Agoda. The office staff were very kind & although sympathetic were helpless to do anything. I was a long way from home to attend a family funeral & felt kinda stuck since there was no way I could have gotten 4 more rooms someplace else on short notice. AVOID this place at all cost

Our Priceline Pre-paid price for 2 nights was $169. Pictures attached pretty much describe our dinky room. 1. Our beautiful view of the bay from the bathroom. Unfortunately the fan didn't work so our exquisite views were horribly limited. 2. A mirror over the sink designed for short people. The mirror is functional as it does reflect just fine. You just have to bend over. 3. A circa... perhaps1972 gorgeous vintage chair most likely refurbished with gorilla tape...perhaps in 1994? I now realize I could have paid a bit more and reserved that luxurious "queen room with sea view" and even gotten a bit more space to walk around the bed. Check-in went smooth. I walked in the small lobby looking for a bell but there is none. Within a minute a dude walked in and gave me an actual metal key. The dude is also the housekeeper and seemed to be out of breath. But he was a nice guy. There was some gagging and coughing from someone next door. Other than that, the main noise was from cars and trucks along highway 101. Thankfully, there were no drunken fights, screams, known drug deals or cops called during our 2-night stay. So why the 2 stars when honestly nothing really went wrong? I suppose I expected a bit more. No...not more like Days Inn or Travel Lodge quality. But a bit more like maybe consider the clientele doesn't value that vintage 1970s taped up chair? The room smell was just...creepy. Like a bad smell where no spray is going to work. Actually, that is why our room doors were open when we arrived LOL. Or maybe consider re-setting the bathroom mirror so anyone over 5'7 doesn't have to bend over? Oh yeah...when you sit on the toilet it reminds me of sitting on my chair in 1st grade. My guess is that this is a vintage toilet from the late 60s. Entertainment: You could probably take a hike up to the top of the McCullough Bridge and watch a ship pass under the bridge or maybe the Coos Bay Railroad swing span bridge that rotates 90 degrees to allow 3 trains-a-week train traffic over the bay. Grub: Hilltop House is nice, but I haven't dinned there since the 80s so take caution. Moms Kitchen is a better bet for breakfast or lunch. Be prepared to wait... If you can't wait, then I suggest the Pancake Mill.
