My wife and I decided to go to Windjammers- she was really in the mood for wings, which we never really order. It was a busy Friday night but they took a reservation on the phone and had a table for us. It was a pretty crowded bar area where our table was- but that's kind of what you expect there! My wife ordered the standard Buffalo wings- despite a full page of wing flavor options. We saw some friends there and they highly recommended the Harbor wings- with a dry rub, or some wings that had a coffee rub on them! I got the Cajun shrimp Po-boy sandwich- a huge roll with Cajun spiced shrimp and crispy lettuce. I didn't finish all that bread but I did polish off the shrimp! We both rated the food and experience at a 4 out of 5. The wings were very good- but since we have been told that these are the best wings in town- my wife didn't think they deserved quite that high of a rating. We were visiting the area and needed lunch. It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon and the hostess/waitress/bartender was very helpful in deciding our order. We had to try the harbor spuds since it was a locale thing. My son loved the NE clam Chowder and the wings were amazing. He has eaten a lot of clam chowder from Boston to Maryland and was pleasantly happy with their soup. My hubby wasn't too impressed with his chicken sandwich but he did like the spuds. Came here on St Pattys day, after being in the city all day... this was a great causal place to hang out. Atmosphere was fun and relaxing. We sat in the back near the kitchen, and ate some of the best wings in Rochester. Affordable food and drinks, lots of different beers available. This is my friends go to bar as she recommended it. First time here and I was impressed with service and food. We ordered clam strips which came with a dipping sauce which was good. We ordered the fried bologna sandwich which melted in your mouth. Not just any bologna but mortadella bologna. We also split chicken pineapple sandwich. Get there, and surprise -- the kitchen is closed. No sign, no heads-up, nothing online. A complete waste of time. If you can't answer your phone or update your hours, why even run a bar? I wish there were real plates, I feel like covid gave folks a reason to use disposable and now we're just stuck there. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered tots, which were crisp, mezzalunas which were cheesy, and fried mushrooms which were mushroomy. Nothing was soggy which was nice. The mushrooms are listed separately so I thought they might be something special but they are just regular fried mushrooms. The beer selection could use some support, but you can't beat a 1$ special on bluemoon, pabst etc. The wings held up to their reputation we had hot Buffalo and the blueberry they are large, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside and well sauced. read more

Came here on a Saturday night (probably the worst night to come) for wings and it TOOK FOREVER. We ended up ordering to go, but in the end - worth it The wings are big, juicy, and fried to perfection. We only got hot, and now I regret not trying a bunch of flavors. Next time, we'll order a bunch of different flavors and rubs. The burgers also looked good, added that to my list for next time as well! The space is bigger than it looks from the outside. They have some outdoor seating, but not a lot. It's your typical sports bar, no glam. Just the way it should be when you're eating wings and having drinks. The service was good. Although they were SUPER BUSY, short staffed and running behind - they had great attitudes. It was really refreshing how nice they were even with everything going on. Prices were reasonable. Windjammers came highly recommended by the wing crowd online, so when in town for only an afternoon we had to stop in. My wife and I split an order of 18 (3 sauces - Hot Garlic, Hot Cajun Saucy, and Hot) and some fries. I had high hopes for this lunch but honestly it was a disappointment. Besides the fact that they wings are literally named saucy on the menu AND I asked for them extra saucy, they came out mostly dry and flavorless. Any liquid that did come on the wings (or in the bowl) seemed to be mostly grease. Maybe we caught them on a bad afternoon because people seemed to love these wings online but I left here feeling thoroughly grossed out. Besides the food, the bar itself was nice enough and the waitress was friendly. The food being highly questionable hurt their score more than it helped. I love windjammers! They are typically pretty busy so just make sure to leave time when you call! Everyone is so friendly and they make some of The best wings in Rochester. I recommend getting 18 and getting a few different flavors. Their list of dry rubs, sauces and fruit flavors is unparalleled. Tonight I enjoyed the Smokey mountain (mild), Buffalo (mild), & the honey garlic. These are solid sauces to try to start. They do the classic Buffalo well and then give it a nice twist with the Smokey mountain! The honey garlic is akin to a sweet and sour but gives a more rounded flavor profile. The service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was also good! We came because we heard great things about the wings. My boyfriend said they were worth the trip. We got the crab cake appetizer, which was two good sized crab cakes. There was a lot of crab and not too much filler. I also really liked the aioli on the side. We ordered a take out order that was quoted 45 mins but ended up taking more like an hour or so. Parking is also pretty hard to find, so plan on giving yourself some extra time to look. We ordered the fried mushroom app and 3 different kinds of wings. Mushrooms were great, and enjoyed by all. The buffalo wing sauce was my least favorite as I felt like flavor was lacking actual buffalo flavor. We also ordered the blueberry fruit wings which were good and did not have an overpowering flavor, it was perfectly subtle. The real star was the sweet Canadian sauce! Cute dive bar, nice decor on the inside. Staff was very busy, took a little while for someone to come and take our drink order, and another little bit before we got our first drink. We were tucked in the back since there were six of us, and there's no booths to accommodate that many guests in one party.
