In town for a quick stay and this was close the person we were visiting. Located next to a few fast food and sit down restaurants, but not very walkable area otherwise because it is near a busy road. This would be a great option for someone staying with a few people or for an extended stay because of the extra sitting space and in room fridge. There are even 2 TVs. Jack and Jill entrance to the bathroom and a large sliding door to separate the bedroom from the living space. Front desk experience was odd because we told them we didn't have a car, then they kept explaining the parking situation. There were cookies at the front desk that looked like they might be for guests checking in, but we weren't offered one. We weren't told about breakfast either so we looked online and they have a hot continental breakfast. And they have ice water and hot coffee and tea available in the lobby around the clock. It looked like they have a pretty courtyard by the pool. This is definitely an option we we revisit given it was close to where we wanted to be and it was a nice, clean room. read more

Fantastic hotel, very clean, really spacious suite rooms with sofa bed in the living room with attached kitchenette then you have barn doors to separate the bedroom which has a very comfortable bed with bedding . All bedding passes the black light test. Then you have a sink and another door where there is another sink, toilet and bathtub. The A.C worked great, there was spar pillow on a shelf, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, alarm clock,microwave, refrigerator and two 42in LG tv's in our room. Our room was $115 a night but our Triple A membership knocked $10 off. The whole hotel was spotless and smelled good. All interaction with staff was positive. There is a pool and spa here that we have not used yet. The continental breakfast is really good they also have an inlet and bacon bar that is not self serve they actually make it for you. Reserved a room with 2 beds and a SOFA SLEEPER. There were 5 of us. We arrived late. We I went to use the SLEEPER SOFA .... a piece of paper was under the cushion stating the pull out didn't work. So for the 1st night one guest slept on the floor. I then bought a cot for the 2nd night. 3 towels for 5 guest. Mostly I made the reservation several months in advance supposably getting the best non refundable rate. When I checked a week before the trip I could have gotten for 30% less, but I had the nonrefundable so i was screwed. read more

My husband and I stayed in a first floor handicapped accessible room, which was good. However, this room is worn out, needs maintenance, bedroom curtains didn't close completely leaving a 5" gap (again, first floor room overlooking parking lot), the toilet paper holder falling off wall so tp roll kept falling on the floor, which is a challenge when you're handicapped. And complimentary breakfast was extremely limited with no gluten free options, no yogurt or milk, only some pastries, waffles, and very runny oatmeal. Have stayed here several times. It's an ok hotel. It's been recently updated (some new paint & flooring, scraggly trees removed from parking lot). But the rooms have too much furniture- more than is needed so they feel crowded. Lots of baseball teams stay here, so it can get noisy. This recent visit, we ended up with 2 in our group and not 4, so I wanted to change the reservation to a single bed room and not a double. The morning of the arrival day, I literally called the hotel numerous times between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. -- nobody answered the phone! No voice mail, either. I even called the national reservation line and they, too, could not reach anyone at the property. I finally gave up. When we arrived to check in, I told the front desk clerk about this bizarre experience. The response: "Oh." No explanation, no apology, just "Oh." Labor Day weekend low key hotel and pool. Didnt workout. Hotel is old and a little dark. Maybe not in most glamorous neighborhood but we were okay with all that, parking lot wasn't full and there is always the pool. Well... maybe not. Pool too contaminated to swim in. Couldn't see the bottom in 6 inches of water. The perks of this place... room clean, courtyard very nice, staff friendly. Very close to Scooters coffee (recommend). Very Disappointed in this has been the second of three times we've stayed at this hotel and they seem to be holding the 4pm check in time. Both day shift and the night shift front service seemed to have no care of inconvenience or to offer other room suggestions to what they said was our room not ready. It went from should be only an hour to not yet then 30 more min. to 4pm early day shift gal 2/3/24 next morning only eager to fill her breakfast plate and not even to acknowledge We were standing in front of her. Checking out she was in back at table eating...had to wave my hands and say HELLO!!! Poor communication skills and just even the hospitality was not at all good in anyway. We stayed here after a long day which capped off with a drive from Vegas to Surprise. Our furniture was not yet delivered to our new house, so we stayed here for our first official night in Arizona. We called ahead to book our reservation, in which they matched Priceline's rate and waived pet fees for our dog, Chloe, as their website stated no pet fees. When we got to the hotel, we were quickly greeted and assigned a room. We asked if it would be okay to order DoorDash and the best practice to do that, and the receptionist happily explained. We then went to our room and we're seriously impressed. It had a small kitchenette, a large bathroom, and two queen beds. We also had a living room area with a desk which was perfect for my WFH arrangement. We were getting comfortable in our room and ordered a late dinner from DoorDash. However, when it arrived, we didn't get silverware. I then called down to the front desk to see if we could pick up some plastic ware from the desk. Instead, the angel of a desk clerk brought some up to us! Service like that, plus the quality of the room makes Windmill Suites truly stand out. Nice place for a base camp. They have well equipped rooms with a small kitchenette, small fridge and microwave. To make my stay even better, if they could offer a few items like tea kettles, blenders and skillets, that would have fulfilled my needs more as an athlete. They offer grab and go breakfast during the week and warm catered breakfast on the weekends. They have a automatic coffee, macchiato and mocha machine as well which is super convenient. The TVs do not offer Netflix or new movies but they do have lots of movie channels to watch. They also have ice makers on each floor which was critical for me during my tennis tournament. The only criticism I have was the air conditioning unit in my room dripped on the bathroom floor which I could hear at times and also made the floor wet. They advertise in their rooms that customers can make long distance calls of NOT TRUE. When I went to make a purchase for soda there was no purchase price on the machine. Went up to the reception desk and the girls did not know how much a soda was in the machine. I took a chance and put two dollars into the machine and the machine did not give me back my soda. So once again I had to go to the reception desk and ask for the return of my two dollars. This place was great! To begin with, the lobby smells amazing - I don't know what kind of air freshener they use, but I loved it. Check in was simple, efficient, & nice. We went to the pool as soon as we got there - it was clean, although it needed to be skimmed a bit. The rooms are adorable - we had a king suite that had a hide-a-couch that my son just loved. He liked having his own TV. The layout of the rooms is nice - the picture did it justice; our room was exactly as advertised. For $150/night, we found this to be quite comfortable. read more

We stayed here for a funeral and at first, we were a little concerned due to the construction. It looked almost abandoned, which gave us pause...however, we continued around the side, following the signs, to find the entrance. They were heavily under construction but the wing we stayed in was completed and lovely. The new room elements were comfortable, and while there were still some wonky things - the light in the bathroom only worked from one switch and you could tell some of the original woodwork like the door frames were not replaced and were crooked - the room was great. read more

We Stayed here for the weekend since we had a funeral to attend in surprise AZ. Cost was $500 for 2 nights. Considering the price I expected a lot more. The suite was small. Not only was it small but it was dirty. Not sure when was the last time the floors were cleaned but when I wiped something off the floor with a napkin I noticed the napkin was black from dust and dirt. Then when I got into the shower I noticed a long curly hair in the shower! I don't have curly hair! It was disgusting to see that someone else's hair was left in the shower which indicated that housekeeping probably didn't clean the shower before our arrival. The second night there we were watching a movie at 8pm when I received a rude call from the front desk asking me to stop my kids from running up and down the hall????? My son/daughter are teenagers in high school! They arnt toddlers and we're not even outside. Like I said we were all watching a movie. I muted the tv and could hear kids down all the pool screaming and having a good time. Not sure how we were called and mistakenly accused of making noise and running up and down hallway's??!!! One other issue is their outdated tvs. They have only 38 channels available and no smart tvs. We couldn't stream or watch Netflix. We had no choice but to watch an old movie we'd already seen a few times. I will compliment the nice woman who serves breakfast. She was very sweet and helpful. The breakfast was decent and the restaurant across the street called Tívolis is also delicious. They are remodeling! Let's just put that out there. My hubby has stayed here a few times while he has been working in this area. We decided a few months ago to go to Phoenix for the NASCAR races in November. My hubby said we need to stay at Windmill. I booked our room and when we arrived I was a little on the fence because they are going through a major renovation. When we arrived our room was not ready, the manager Marilyn (I hope I remembered her name) was trying to get us in to a king room. After about 20 minutes she said I have you guys taken care of we were upgraded to the Ocotillo Suit. Our room was huge, separate bedroom, living room, desk area for my hubby to do his work, huge bathroom with a side area that had an extra sink/counter area, there was, Also a small kitchen area with a counter and 2 bar stools. The breakfast was pretty good and I loved the lemon water that was waiting for you when you walk through the entryway. I can not wait till the remodel is done to go back. I wish I would of taken pictures of our room. read more

Holy emerald green carpet the carpet is hideous. The lobby is closed for renovations so I'm assuming they are redoing the whole place and boy does it need it. It has a nice courtyard and a nice breakfast but that's about it. The room will be cool if they keep the same setup and remodel. This is a great value for the room size. Room was clean and had a breakfast nook and kitchenette. It slept 5 of us comfortably. The breakfast was pretty good for a free continental breakfast. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is that the toilet does not accommodate a days worth of poo, and the shower water was lukewarm at best. Staff was great about getting is a plunger and extra towels. Oh, I almost forgot,the pool, was nicely heated but dirty. Overall good choice for the price. read more

I was recently here for an extended weekend for my sisters wedding. We decided on staying at the Windmill because it was some what close to the wedding venue but also it had really great reviews and people seemed to enjoy this place. We drove at night so it was a little tough seeing the hotel off the road. They have an itty bitty sign that is barely lit up. Upon walking in you kind of get that dated elderly home feeling but whatever, it was 1 am and all I wanted to do is check in and sleep. Our room was very spacious with a living area, a small tiny kitchen like area with a mini sink, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom was decent size with very good water pressure. We had two sinks. One in the inside of the bathroom and one on the outside vanity area. The bedroom was closed off from the living area for added privacy. The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable. I slept like a baby the entire time I was here. The hotel provided breakfast every morning in the lobby which consisted of scrambled eggs or omelets, bacon and sausage. waffles, cereal, pastries, biscuits, gravy, toast, egg muffins, fruit, juice, milk, water, coffee, tea. It was very good and nice to have a decent breakfast as opposed to going out to eat. Every evening they would also put out warm cookies! I never turn down a cookie......or two. The overall comfort of the hotel was excellent. I did not care about anything else except the comfort and this hotel met my expectations. I was happy with the room and I was happy with the service and I was happy with the breakfast. I did not care for the dated decor and elderly feel because if I did I would have stayed at the Clarendon. If I am ever in this area again I would definitely stay at the Windmill because the 5 days I was there I was very happy. read more

Our kind of place! Totally reasonably-priced, for starters. Not only that, while we were standing at the front desk checking in to the hotel, I checked myself in on the Yelp app (it's a social media thing if you aren't familiar with it) and was offered a check in special of 10% off our entire stay, which they applied to our bill right then and there! Our first night in we heard some pretty repetitive knocking sounds in the walls. I called the front desk to bring it to their attention. The next day we received a call from the GM, who told me they had flushed the pipes, and indeed, it was much better for the remainder of our stay. These guys offer great customer service--the CEOs direct phone number is posted in every room, for God's sakes. How great is that! I have never been in a comfier bed. Sheets were crisp and pristine, countless pillows, and we wanted to take the mattress home it was wonderful--we slept great! Pretty quiet overall. Love, love, love the suite set-up, so much room it's luxurious. Nice touch, the granite counter tops in the mini-kitchen! The kitchen kit is very thoughtful, real dishes, silverware, salt and pepper shakers and dish soap and even a sponge. Enjoyed the eggs and crispy bacon at breakfast every morning. Coffee & hot water with real cream available all day. Did I mention immaculately clean? Free WiFi! Pool got a little noisy here and there, but in a good way--families, people having a good time. We were not bothered by the enormous tube TVs or the kinda dated decor. I have paid ludicrous prices for tiny noisy rooms at extremely updated hotels plenty of times and I don't need it. I would Never stay here again. Had an early morning so I turned in at 10:30PM. At 1:30AM I was still awake as a Korean baseball team was wide awake and were singing and having a good time. I switched rooms at 1:45AM and got to sleep at 2:30 and was up at. 6:30AM. The Manager offered me a $13 credit....... Really....$13 dollars. Another example of Penny Smart and Pound Foolish. Called front desk to notify them and they said they would credit our account.. they didnt. My friend asked them to change our room keys so it wouldnt happen again, they didnt! we had a few hounded dollars of stuff stolen the next day while we were out. The stellar reviews are justified: I stayed here for four nights with my mother who unfortunately snores like freight train. We booked a suite as it's impossible for me to get any shut-eye if I stay in the same room as her. The plan was for my mom to take the bedroom, while I would tough it out on the fold out couch. After arriving at the hotel we discovered that the sliding doors that divide the bedroom from the living area were wonky and that the doors wouldn't close all the way. I was pretty sure that they were not up to the herculean task of keeping out mom's nocturnal rumbles and went to talk to Brianna at the front desk about changing our room. Brianna was totally awesome: With the approval of her supervisor she upgraded us to an executive suite and waived the extra 30 dollars a day. The suite was enormous and equipped with a kitchen, walk in closet, and two TVs. My fold out bed was decent and my mom's bed was exceptionally comfortable, if absurdely high: We're both tiny people and actually needed a step stool to clamber onto it! I loved the little touches at the Windmill: The fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that are put out each afternoon; the surplus of fresh fluffy towels; the waffle maker at breakfast..... For 100 dollars a night, you can't do much better than this! read more

We had a great time at Windmill and would highly recommend it. With in-laws in Sun City, it is located in a central location. We got two rooms, one for my wife and I and one for our three kids (11, 13, 18). It is def on the lower end of the "suite" brands, but it was fine for what we needed, a little bigger space four our three kids to have their own room. Again, for what we paid, we were not expecting a four star breakfast or amenities, so as long as expectations are set realistically, Windmill will not disappoint. Would get five stars, but the cleaning product smell was a little strong when we arrived and I think they should upgrade their TV sets to flats, but other than that, no complaints.
