I arrived close to noon on 8/8 and service was provided by Dani Torres, the Dual Assistant General Manager on duty. She quickly got me a room that was on the first floor. Turns out that room had several issues. The next day, I informed Dani of a problem with a noisy AC, jamming bathroom door, flush component issue in the bathroom, and flat pillows. With no hesitation, she apologized for the condition of the room and assigned us to an updated suite. My wife and I have never felt so valued by someone in hotel management as we were by Ms. Torres; she showed that she cared. She set a high standard of quality and care in service that should be the model for all in hospitality service. If we are back in Happy Valley, there is no doubt that we would be returning to the Residence Inn. They had great breakfast too. read more

You would think a hotel with a kitchen would be nice so you can sit at a table to drink your morning coffee? However, long term guests are cooking up their yummy cuisine and the strong aromas in the hallway were so peppery and pungent we had to check out. So much for enjoying our morning coffee. Especially since the smells creeped in our room. Beds were very comfy. Laundry rooms and workout rooms were on first floor so very convenient. Breakfast was good and white rice was available on the breakfast buffet. Coffee was never very hot. Flavored creamers available. Juices, waffles, quiche, breakfast sandwiches, salad, yogurt, breads, scrambled eggs, etc all good and dining room had lots of tables and everything was very clean and food was tasty. Front desk and all the staff was friendly and the location was near great shopping and restaurants. There is no lounge at this Marriott but you can walk to the other Courtyard Marriott next door and grab a drinkie in the lobby. read more

Hotels location is really great, it's by a lot of shops and restaurants. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. I personally would not stay at this hotel again due to the very very strong smell of curry. This hotel seems to mostly be housing people from out of country which is why the smell was consistent for the 3 nights we were there, and also makes it feel like you are staying in someone's home with them as you're watching them lug down their laundry baskets and the entire breakfast area is used like it's their home kitchen. They have like a little community they've created there. Made us very uncomfortable. It was def not a hotel experience Ive ever had before somewhere. If you decide to stay here I would just say, try to request a room on a floor people aren't living on. The staff more than acknowledged the smell and ambiance this community of people create and were very much in agreement that it's not ideal at this hotel so I'm sure they would understand the request. read more

Built less than 10 years ago, this area is going through a lot of construction as government land was sold within the last few years initiating a BOOM. Nice, clean, quiet, facility with free parking and located near lots of shops and restaurants. Free breakfast in all Residence Inns, decent workout facility and pool, and helpful staff. Also plenty of plugs for the PDAs and Cell Phones! read more

Amid COVID-19 and everything being hyper cleaned, this hotel missed the memo. Walking around the room in bare feet and they were filthy. I washed my feet and put shoes back on. The parking lot is dicey as hell. It appears a homeless person with a mental illness lives in his car in the lot. He spent a lot of time cursing and walking back and forth. He was parked right next to our car, yelling. We waited for him to start pacing and jumped in the car and left. Because of COVID there was no housekeeping. If you needed something, they would leave it outside the door. If you could get anyone at the desk to answer the phone! Our floor had full trash bags up and down the hallway. Most overnight. Kind of stinky. The hotel allows dogs (I love dogs!) and because of the impending heat, people played with their dogs in the parking lot or the adjacent field, beginning at about 5 a.m. Dogs barking, people whistling and yelling for their dogs. We were up early every morning. Okay pros... There is a kitchen with a 2 burner cooktop, dishwasher, full size fridge, a toaster and full size coffee pot. Go to the store and get coffee. Bring filters with you (otherwise you have to buy 200), the provided coffee is very weak. The bathroom has a blow dryer, plenty enough towels and the shower water pressure is great. This hotel is conveniently located near restaurants and stores. read more

We ecently stayed at this hotel for a long holiday weekend staycation. We had stayed at a Residence Inn in another city a couple of months earlier and really enjoyed it. We had also stayed at this exact location several years back and had no issues. However,this stay was nowhere near as good as any of the other visits have been. We asked at the front counter if they had any Suites that they could upgrade us to. They told us they had none available although it was pretty obvious the hotel was not even half full. The room they did put us in was a studio that had a lot of nice features. This room did have a number of issues that we brought to the attention of the front desk staff. They did nothing to remedy the problems that I let them know about, nor did they offer to move us to another room. This hotel need some TLC and extra attention. We had a toilet that kept running, trim pieces in the shower that were pulling away from the wall, faucet that did not work right in the kitchen area and several other issues. read more

Had an issue with mattress on night 1of 3. Front desk graciously showed me 2 other available rooms to choose from adjacent to mine. Saved me hassle of moving from floor with lots of luggage. Excellent location close to local shopping/dining in nice newer area of n Phx. Excellent front desk assistance. The hotel is clean and staff is friendly. However, their reservation process or app is crap. I booked through hotels.com and then the hotel tried to charge almost $1000 because they "swipe my card for incidentals ". Their reservation system allows the duplication of charges for rooms prepaid via a third party. So the policy of $100 and $40 per night for incidentals is crap. What actually happened is $200 swipe then $300 charge, $80 charge, $490 charge. Either policy is jacked or the reservation system is jacked. I extended 2 days and another $40 overage for incidentals I don't use. Marriott used to be my ONLY place to stay. Consider this a divorce. read more

I like the Marriott Hotels but I do not like their mobile app since I am unable to select my room on the app. I checked in on the app at 3 pm but was not allowed to pick my room. My wife does not like to sleep on ground floors due to a bad experience in the past with an attempted break in. I arrived at our Marriott hotel at 9 pm and the couple in line in front of us were given the last room on an upper floor and they weren't even Marriott rewards members. I can always choose my room on the Hilton rewards app when I check in. Marriott, you need to improve your technology and offer your members the top notch service they deserve!! I gave two stars because room selection on a higher floor is very important to my wife. read more

Pretty typical Residence Inn. That's not a bad thing. It's great having a kitchen with big refrigerator. The sitting area is large with table for two, desk, sofa, chair and TV. Separate bedroom with TV and door is great, too. The pool was large and nice for swimming. Thank you for heating it. Also used the exercise room which had the basic treadmills, one bike and weights. Breakfasts were delicious and social hour a bonus (snacks Monday, grilled chicken sandwiches Tuesday, food truck-you buy- or desserts Wednesday, nothing rest of week). This one had a basketball court which I hadn't seen at a Residence Inn before. One thing I missed that other Residence Inn had was a fire pit. read more

Staff was excellent. Hotel was mediocre. Value is great. It was nice having a microwave, fridge, dishwasher and sink (no oven), but our hall always smelled crazy strong from other peoples cooking. Due to covid, grab and go "breakfast" bags were available in lieu of the hot breakfast, but definitely were not great. Usually just a packaged muffin and granola bar and a bottle of water (also not always nut free). The room was not dirty but certainly not "covid clean". One thing, the vents where the air came out were all covered in layers of chunky dust. That was pretty gross especially when you then think what the air filter for the furnace might be like. We enjoyed the pool a single day (you have to reserve your slot with covid), and it was heated probably around 80 degrees. However, it had a film along the bottom that was visible and made the water look darker, but after you touched the bottom surface in parts then the water appeared cleaner there. Idk if it's just because it hasn't been used a much but obviously not a lot of maintenance there. Lots of road construction nearby made driving kinda wonky. But noise level was usually not bad. All in all, it was pretty much on par with expectations and pricing. A good place to stay if you have a couple kids. read more

The area is perfect as in plenty of shops restaurants and grocery stores nearby and the amenities are decent for the price. The pool is shared with the adjoining courtyard and it isn't the biggest or smallest of pools. Decent for one hotel but kind of small for 2. Decent gym with a couple cardio machine and free weights. Large spacious rooms and a decent breakfast. Only reason it got a 4 vs a 5. Poor customer service. read more

The circumstances of coming to stay at Residence Inn really kinda sucked. My house flooded, YAY insurance claim :( However, this is where my insurance put my family up. The people at the front desk were always on top of everything, the maid service was absolutely stellar, the pool was always clean and my 2 year old learned that it was the coolest thing ever. Every morning they have a hot breakfast included in the room rate, and Monday-Wednesday they have a managers social hour that includes food, and drink (alcoholic as well yes) again included in the room rate. It was really nice to not have to cook but if I needed to our room had a full kitchen in it and it was stocked with all the pots/pans/plates/utensils I would have needed. They also have a grocery buying service. You write what you want and they will go get it for you and bill your room, HOW COOL IS THAT? If you need to get away for an extended stay in North Phoenix certainly check this place out it was very very nice. read more

The staff here is great. Check in was easy and quick. Every day they gave me a smile and friendly hello. I'm giving three stars strictly because of the bed. The room was clean and pretty standard, but the bed! Ugh the bed! Horrible. It was like they went to a mattress outlet and said "just give us 100 of your cheapest possible mattress". No padding, no comfort at all. I'm sorry but the bed is key to a hotel stay away from home. Might want to sleep at another hotel if you can. read more

My wife and I were set up to stay here when we had a house flood and let's say the circumstances could have been a whole lot worse. This is one of the nicest hotels I have seen in the valley. Very clean, friendly and accommodating staff. Pet-friendly, Grocery service, Daily hot buffet-style breakfast, Free dinner social every mon tue and wed, and a very nice pool. Our insurance paid for us to stay there so I can't speak for their rates, but I was certainly impressed with the quality of our stay. It was very comfortable. read more

I have to say I am here during the hottest time of year and they still make it enjoyable. I have the nicest room for the money and the amenities are very nice. Great pool and sports park!! Nuce gym too. Comfortable room, that has a fyll kitchenette! Great lobby, plenty of parking, very nice social employees that arent afraid to chitchat. This place is wonderful! After our air conditioning went out at our home we had to find a place to stay until our landlord could fix it. At first we stayed at another hotel that was the same price and totally outdated and had bugs. We were so happy when we got into our room at this hotel. Modern, clean, with professional and friendly staff. A kitchen with everything you need besides and oven, Paul Mitchell complimentary bath products and a great overall feel. I don't want to leave! I recently stayed at this hotel for five months. It is just a few years old and is one of the nicest looking Residence Inns that I've ever stayed at. The staff is very friendly and will take good care of you. The only problem with the hotel is that despite a recent service upgrade, internet speeds are limited to .75MB due to the number of guests who have been hogging bandwidth. Close to plenty of shops and restaurants despite being on the outskirts of Phoenix. read more

Just had the opportunity to spend two nights. This place is my "go-to" when visiting north Phoenix. This time I took my two dogs, and they were able to stay with me. There is a $100 non-refundable deposit required, but it was worth it. The room had no evidence of previous pet presence. You also get decent, hot breakfast each morning. Highly recommend! read more

This is a good choice for an affordable stay and great accommodations. About a half hour to the airport, easy access to the 17 and 101 to get around the valley, and a great place if you want to enjoy both Phoenix and Sedona! Close to Norterra for dinning, shops, and entertainment. read more

If I could put no stars, I would! I have stayed at many Residence Inns, so I'm familiar with the set-up & the amenities. At this over-priced location, the housekeeper entered our room even though we had the "No Service" & "Pet Inside" magnet signs on the door. I had valuables in plain view, although nothing was taken. BUT how easy is it to take a pic of credit cards, etc? She also took 10 empty plastic bottles off the counter to recycle herself, I'm sure! Mgr wouldn't give up the name, but only said she was not new & " this has never happened before." Perhaps there was an ability to read issue? All I know is, if I was a housekeeper & there was a room that didn't want service, I would gladly pass it up! read more

This is a newer property and a really lovely one at that. It's got an excellent proximity to the sorts of safe suburban activities one might like to indulge in such as Starbucks, Movie theater, Red Robin, etc... The rates are fantastic and the crowd well heavy on the Honeywell staffing side are colorful (in a good way) and they have pretty good food included to boot. read more

We originally posted this early Aug. of 2013, but now, almost 6 months later, the posting was removed (we think) because we had the Asst. Gen. Mgrs name in it - which we have now removed - the story (as shocking as it is) remains the same, here's our original post with the mans name removed: We live 2 miles from this hotel. We had to stay there once due to our water softener flooding our home, that visit was 3 or 4 nights. This visit our air-conditioning was being replaced so we had to stay another 3 nights. Our spare rooms at our house are either occupied or tuned into offices, so when friends or family come to town we always book them at the RI (all of our friends and family live half way across the country - so we get a lot of visitors coming to beautiful warm Phoenix). Pet friendly hotel which is awesome, we love pets! However during this stay at RI on our first night there our room flooded due to a monsoon storm. We had to walk barefoot down the wet hallway to the lobby to request a new room. We were told that we'd have to go across to the Courtyard to which my husband said we are not walking over there in the middle of a monsoon. Suddenly she found a room for us. The second room didn't flood but the carpet was soaked along the window side of the bed (kind of icky when you get up in the night and set foot onto a soggy carpet). Both rooms (once wet) smelled of wet dog. Finally on our last night we were moved up to a room on the second floor and they took $40 off our bill for our inconvenience. The room was fine but the entire second floor including our room reeked of some kind of "ethnic" food smell, and the windows do not open in the rooms, so no airing it out. We dealt with it and finally got to go home the next day. The most ALARMING PART HOWEVER IS THAT..... Upon review of our credit card statement online a few days later we discovered that we were charged a pet fee and a damage fee (which nobody informed us about and was not on our receipts when we checked out). So, my husband called because clearly there is some sort of simple mistake we are sure. The Assistant General Manager called back. Upon discussion he explained that we had a pet in the room and that the ottoman and the bed skirt were damaged by our pet. My husband explained that we did not have a pet in the room, we have a pet but she stays with the neighbors as we watch each others pets when need be. The Asst. Gen. Mgr. said that the ottoman was worn and that the bed skirt had a tear on the hem. My husband explained that could just be normal wear and tear on a room and certainly it wasn't from us, perhaps someone's shoe caught the bed skirt, or maybe the housekeepers vacuum - who knows! And ottomans wear out but not from us being in that room one night never mind the fact that we didn't sit in the living area and therefore didn't even use the ottoman. The Asst. Gen. Mgr. took off the $315 dollar damage fee and refused to refund us the $100 pet fee claiming that "a pet has definitely been in that room". My husband explained that there is not doubt a pet had likely been in that room - the place is full of pets, but WE did not have a pet in our room, never have before when staying there and certainly not on our last of 3 nights at the hotel. Heck, one woman even had her dog down at the breakfast table, there is no doubt there are pets around - but not ours The most we would be guilty of is having pet hair on our belongings, but certainly no pet of ours in the room. And we certainly didn't damage their furniture (which the Asst. Gen. Mgr. finally admitted). So beware, you may get socked for extra fees and then have to spend plenty of time and multiple phone calls trying to get them reversed (and you may not even be successful at that). We are both Marriott Elite members, have their credit cards and the whole bit, we both travel frequently, we have used this RI for ourselves twice but for family and friends for almost 8 years now. Here forward we will be referring anyone that comes to visit us over to the Homewood Suites....just as nice and just as close. read more

Due to an accident that required emergency neck surgery, I had to stay in Phoenix for 5 days before I was cleared to travel back home to Las Vegas. I also sustained a concussion and was in the hospital for a few days. Upon being released, we chose this hotel to stay at while I heal up enough to travel. We booked 5 nights and were never told they would be doing major water system repairs during this stay. They had the entire water system shut off today. It started at 11am and we were told it would only be an hour or so. It is now 8 pm and they are not going to be done anytime soon. Best thing is, the fire alarm keeps going off for 10 minutes at a time. What a fantastic sound when you are recovering from a concussion and surgery. It has gone off at least 5 times today and the desk crew thinks it is funny even though there are multiple guests complaining. We are in the process of trying to find a new hotel because this is just stupid. Turn off the alarm if you are working on it or at least have someone there to hit the off switch as soon as it goes off. These desk clerks think it is funny to just let it run. Asked for a manager and was told there was not one on the property. Will never stay at this property again. read more

We stay at the residence Inns numerous times a year in different locations. When visiting AZ we usually stay at the location near the mayo. All of our requests were met, low floor near an exit for our dogs but we are right near the pool which is very loud when we are trying to nap between training. The kitchen wasn't as well equipped as other locations, lacking actual glasses but stocked with wine glasses and goblets. The microwave center didn't spin, our 2 frozen pizzas bought in the lobby didn't cook evenly and ended up in the trash. That being said the pantry store in the lobby is poorly stocked compared to other locations. However our basic requests were met, the staff pleasant, and the location clean. Great water pressure and the ac blows nice and cold. For dogs it again isn't my favorite location even though they offer treats at check in. Not a great area for walking or at least not that I was shown and no bags offered for clean up, which is fine for me I always have some but other residents may not. Due to our early mornings I didn't get to partake in breakfast. read more

Customer service does not get any better than what my family received during checking in, during our 2 night stay, during our check out, and three days later when I called back with my Marriott's reward info. Colleen at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She pointed us towards great local restaurants, gave us directions and a map to her preferred local post office so we could ship boxes home, gave us recommendations on a little town we should try to visit (she learned we'd be in the nearby area anyway), plus she remembered me specifically when I called about 3 days later after finding my Marriott's reward #. The room was a bit more than we needed (who's cooking on vacation!?!?) but the price was great, the location was perfect, and the room was comfortable and clean. It was so nice, in fact, we ended up staying a second night when we'd only planned on one. We decided to book our rooms for the 2nd night and drive back to it at the end of a long day instead of taking our chances of finding another hotel at the end of the day. It was that nice and the staff was that nice. Plus, the morning breakfast buffet was a "hot" buffet vs just continental fare. I'd definitely recommend this hotel specifically, and this hotel chain in particular. read more
