I needed to replace two exterior doors. I felt the quote was very high but I was tired of cheaping it only to have to replace them in 5 to 10 years. To begin with the salesman was maybe the friendliest person I have ever met in addition to being very knowledgeable. He had none of the tricks I see too often such as we just happen to have the door you want from a cancellation. He just had all the facts. Then they sent someone to measure, once again, this was the most detailed measurement I have ever seen, including removing the moldings. There was an issue with my alarm system which they were able to handle easily. Finally, the installation of these premium quality doors went flawlessly. The doors arrived beautifully painted. I got the feeling that each of these people valued me as a customer. In the end the price didn't seem high at all. I would highly recommend this company. read more

I am so highly upset with the window and door installation! They just installed the windows on top of rotted wood and then tried to use caulk to conceal that the wood was not replaced. I specifically showed Daniel, the salesman, the rotted wood spots and told him I didn't want the windows installed on rotted wood because then it will create a side panel issue as well. He said it will be taken care of but it absolutely was not. The guys who came in said it wasn't in the contract so just installed brand new windows on rotted wood which is a waste of the project because the windows will end up being warped. My door needs two hands and brute force to be opened. I cannot understand how this was a "professional" installation. Having a salesman try to upsell me a product without first having given me other options is the devil's work, I'll tell you. Over priced even after so called discounts. Not paying $10,000 for two doors, I don't care who makes them. Need an odd size entry door and a storm door with a keyed entry. I watched the salesman punch in info as to color, and other adjustments to my liking. Thought he was doing something when he gave me two discounts that bought the total down to $10,000 from $16,000. On his way out the front door of my home, he tried to be snarky about the existing storm door that was there. I'm not replacing that one. I need a storm door for the back, which is smaller. Professional and punctual! I believe the gentleman's name was Shale. He came on a Sunday and sat with us for about two hours. At no pint was he pushy or aggressive with his sales pitch. He was very informative. I learned a lot about windows. The visit was simply for an estimate as I found them at the home show in NJ. Spent 16k and received some of the worst customer service I've ever had. I spent 2 hours with a sales person (who asked for a beer when I asked if he wanted a water- I gave it to him), and the one taking measurements was done in 10 minutes. Sure enough they were wrong and now they would have to come back in 2 months to finish the job. In the meantime my old windows wouldn't work because they broke them...during the summer. My floors were damaged from the tape they used. When I needed something like a copy of the invoice I couldn't get anyone to call me back. It took 6 calls with 3 different people. When the right windows finally came in, they were still wrong in their design, but at least they installed them. The operations manager confirmed the mistake and said they would follow up in 2 days. I then didn't hear for 2 months from anyone and I was exhausted chasing them around with calls. It was rediculous at this point that they came twice and still didn't get it right. I get a call out of the blue with them saying we have your correct window - and even then it STILL wasn't right and now they're saying they couldn't make it to the specs that were in the contract. I was not willing to accept a product I didn't order and told them I would need to call them back after discussing with my wife. The NEXT day they filed for a mechanics lien on my house for the balance - no further conversations nothing. This is how they treat customers who aren't happy?? They bully them with legal paperwork at the first chance after ghosting them for 2 months. In the end I didn't accept any further work from them and wanted to be done with the whole thing. They gave me a discount of $175 after waiting 6 months and all these issues. I spent $16k on the contract. I'd give zero stars if I could. RUN, don't walk, AWAY from this business. Save yourself money, stress, and heartache and go with literally any other company. read more

I was able to track the entire process on their app, while obtaining text/emails on the different stages of the process without having to call anyone. I personally want to salute the installation team (Alvin (crew chief), Mike, and Bill, who came out in the cold weather and stayed late to ensure the job was done. Throughout the installation, they kept me informed & abreast of any issues, took all of the debris and cleaned up their work locations. We had a challenging sunroom project with more than 10 windows in a historic home. Ultimately the job turned out very well. The installation and installers were outstanding and the quality of the windows is top notch. That's the most important thing. I want to give them 5 stars for that, and even for customer service. The 4 stars is only reflective of a single salesperson who did not understand nor communicate the correct design (to match the first floor) He assumed we understood window language and the rendering (visual) of the order was not clear- basically we got grids where we didn't want them. The project lasted much longer than it should have - a year- with several reschedules because of problems with the initial order. We love the outcome, and everyone else I know who uses MWT has had perfect experiences. Just be sure to be very clear about the design and ask questions rather than sign off on the order/ rendering. Cons: Very bad after service support and planning. I had a broken window (at the time of their installataion) and a need for changing the moulding on a couple of windows. It took them over 4 months to get the day scheduled (and this was not because of product delay) and even after that they werent prepared for the job, there was overall confusion from the guy who comes in to do the job vs the person i talk to on the phone. Pathetic display of customer service. All their promise about windows support post installation goes out the windows for me. I will use another service for the rest of my house now. They did a good job replacing my front door, storm door and basement door, so naturally I recommended them to my mother and her neighbor who each needed to replace a drafty window (her neighbor's window is a very large one). The salesman came, took measurements, then called his boss with the details, but then told this 88 year old woman that his boss says she has to buy a minimum of 3 windows or they won't do the job. My 78 year old mother asked if they could buy 3 windows between the both of them, and was told no, they had to buy 3 each. Being that they both were on fixed incomes, they couldn't afford it. So i gave them the number of my Renewal by Andersen rep as well as a few other home improvement contractors who will hopefully have sympathy on the elderly. I guess this company who would have done anything for anyone during the pandemic is too big for the little people now. read more

Made an appointment at the Staten Island Mall showcase. The employee I spoke to was great and I was excited for my consultation. I received a confirmation call the day before my appointment. To make sure I made it home in time, I left work a little early. Ended up being a complete no show. I called to try and reschedule and were unable to reach them. Terrible doesn't even come close. Received a quote for a new Pro Via front door and patio door for 22k. The same front door and back door at another authorized Pro Via distributer in NJ was 9,400 for both without installation. Now, Men with Tools was providing installation- am I to assume the installation for doors made the price difference greater than 10k?? I called Pro Via customer service and they were shocked by this. Men with Tools are installing doors not performing surgery 22k?!?! Please get multiple quotes or you will pay double for no reason. The salesman said, the crew will be there all day and we pay workers comp that's why it's so expensive. My general contractor had his crew complete the job in 4 hours- done perfectly and it included 1 trip to home depot. The other authorized Pro Via distributor uses their quote as a cautionary tale for new customers and can't argue when you see the quotes side-by-side. Buyer beware. read more

My husband and I purchased Maple-Prestige Appalachian Flooring (Signature Collection) from The Men With Tools. This flooring in an inferior product. It was installed 6 weeks ago in my living room and dining room. As of now-we LITERALLY have approx. 100 scratches on the floor. We have a dog (Labrador Retriver) who scratches the floor just by walking. Our daughter-in-law owns a dog grooming shop-therefore our dog's nails are groomed regularly and kept clipped short and filed. We had hardwood floors for 21 years. The only reason that we purchased new floors is because we wanted to change the color and didn't want to have to remove all of our furniture to have the floors sanded and re-finished. We have our dog for 6 yrs. and had a previous Labrador Retriver for 12 years and had no scratches on the floor. This floor is severely scratched and has been since the very FIRST day of installation. The evershine top coat on this flooring is an inferior finish. Do not purchase this floor if you have a dog, children, wear heals, etc. (We remove our shoes upon entering). Trust me-you will be sorry. I contacted my salesperson, as well as this company-all to no avail. Purchasing this floor was the biggest mistake that I have ever made! read more
