    My neighbor after I stopped his home invasion at Windridge Apts in Laguna Niguel.

    I rented here for the worst year of my life. First off, they misrepresented the condition of the apartment prior to moving in. The virtual walk-thru doesn't look anything like the apartment I moved into with 30 year old appliances, damaged formica counter tops, damaged sinks, tub, and doors. The entire door fell off my oven. Everything was covered with a layer of white contact paper, all the cabinets and doors. You can't even clean the vents because they are painted over with layers of paint. That was just the beginning. At 3am, a month after I moved in, I was awakened to screaming and calls for help from my downstairs neighbor because of a home invasion. I yelled I was calling the police, and he ran off covered in blood. The police came by to question me and ask if I had seen any "gang activity" because they constantly receive calls to the complex more than any place in the city for crime. I saw plenty of reports of theft and tagging spray painted around the complex. They asked about roving groups of teens intimidating tenants with a baseball bat. Vandalism was a constant problem. I felt unsafe and never once saw security visit the complex. Just the police. I went through a multitude of bug infestations, fleas, termites, ants, and 2 types of roaches, German and American at least an inch long. I had never seen a roach in my entire life before moving here. I didn't even know what they were until I snapped a picture and googled it. I only saw rats at the dumpster, but my downstairs neighbor mentioned to me he was battling rats in his apartment. I assume being upstairs and having two cats saved me from that hell. The pest control company said the roaches were nesting in my old dilapidated fridge that looked like it was picked up from a junk yard and hummed constantly. I had them coming out of the drains, vents, and electrical outlets... most of which were so worn out they would arch every time you plugged something into them. The leasing office said the outlets didn't work because they were attached to the light switch, being there is only one chandelier in the entire apartment. They still didn't work with the light switch on. The entire apartment was dark, even during the day, which the roaches loved. I ended up with a $391 vet bill because of the fleas or roaches infesting my cats and their food dish. Topical Advantage wouldn't even kill the fleas and she was a housecat that never went outside. I was constantly cleaning and scrubbing and washing everything to combat them. I had to buy sealed, air/bug proof containers to put every food item in. RAID Traps, Borax acid, OTC sprays didn't work. They also won't disclose that the complex is in a "dead zone" and getting cell or internet service is impossible. TMobile, Verizon, AT&T... forget it. Even Cox came with wired internet that was slow. I couldn't even do important meetings and calls on zoom because they would drop or break up. My family wasn't able to call me unless I left the complex to get a signal. Forget it if you have a remote job. You will literally have to cross the street to get online. It created barriers for work and school. They admitted they knew this before I moved in but "it isn't their problem." Maintenance was nice and tried their best, but they often didn't even receive the messages for maintenance requests through the reporting app Equity Residential required we use. I went for a month without a washer, which they charge for use monthly. When I moved out after my one year lease was up, they charged me $959 for everything, including paint and their 30 year old, damaged formica counter top that I had nothing to do with. They also tried upping my rent nearly $500 over what they were listing online for the same apartments in their complex. I was already paying $200 over market value for the apartment. They told me I could move into another apartment in the same complex to keep the same rate I was overcharged. Insanity. I was exploited by Windridge and Equity Residential. Please stay away from this place!

If you've ever leased or rented in a large complex like Marea, then you know the importance of the Leasing Associates and how they absolutely determine your living experience at a complex and the enjoyment you'll receive from your Residency there. High turn-over, cranky.....or mad-at-the-world associates who just show up always make me feel bad if I have a request of some kind. Like I'm bothering them. But I've never felt that sentiment here and the Staff is always happy to answer any Q's you have, entertain any reasonable request, or fulfill any needs or requirements you have, and they do it with a smile in the most congenial manner possible. Are you kidding me I'd also like to give my thanks to the entire maintenance staff here. Fernando has been here since I moved here in 2012 and I'm always glad to see him come through the door if I have a maintenance issue to be fixed. He does exceptional work, is very clean and organized and he always, and I mean always, offers to take my garbage out to the dumpster when he leaves. Are you kidding me? Where else can you get service like that? Now if I could just get him to wash my car......... So if anyone out there is thinking of a lease or rental here at Marea, I want to assure you that you'll enjoy your time here as much as I have. The amenities are unbelievable, the location is one of the most beautiful in SoCal and because so many residents also enjoy living here, it's not a rental, is their home and people are always more welcoming and friendly in their homes. That's the environment you'll experience here. Finally, no one asked me to write this so it's unsolicited, but I wanted to do something nice for Dawn and her staff so I figured this is a good way to go.

If they ever see us lugging things up and down the stairs, they always jump into help, offer to take out trash, definitely not part of their job, but they don't bat an eye when it comes to extra work. Have always showed up promptly when things have had normal wear and tear issues and fixed, and were delightful and informative about keeping things working in the future. They went out of their way to fix my roommate's trunk after a hit-and-run situation. They really go above and beyond and care so much, and works so hard. Super grateful and have never had an experience like that at a previous building. Also, we adore Isaac, always super helpful, hard-working, and vibrant. We appreciate having people who go the extra mile to get things done that others might turn their cheek to.

    "LUXURY APARTMENT" ... the only luxury is the price of the rental. Luxury would have guest parking. Luxury would have a better management team. This place is far from Luxury. STAY AWAY! They paint the walls light grey so when you go to patch up the holes from your tv mounts (which is white) they then charge you over $600 to repaint the walls, so at that point start saying goodby to your deposit. You can kiss your deposit goodby as you move in. They will charge you for EVERYTHING even when you spend a day or 2 cleaning, wiping walls, covering holes etc. we got $50 back from our deposit which never came.... THERE IS NO PARKING! no street parking....forget about having guest over because they will need to park at the park across the street and walk. Then all other guest dont respect spaces and you will get a notification of "WHOEVER IS PARKED IN MY SPOT #4, MOVE YOUR CAR OR GET TOWED" every day. nobody will call the tow, its BS. lol. My harley battery was stolen along another motorcycle and the cameras didn't capture who did it. oh and they wont give you info on it unless you create a police report and that doesn't go anywhere SO BEWARE of your personal belongings. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR ENERGY AT THE VISTA. GO HALF A MILE TO WINDRIDGE AND PAY LESS WITH MORE SPACE, MORE PARKING AND THE APARTMENTS DONT LOOK LIKE WALKING INTO A HOTEL...ITS MORE HOMIE.
