I rarely if ever leave reviews, but I'm leaving one. Sarah and Ana in the office are wonderful. When they both came to work here a few years ago, the atmosphere really changed. They are upbeat, positive, helpful and really seem to enjoy what they do. It has really made a difference in living here. They are both professional and just a pleasure to deal with. Going into year 4 living in this apartment community and it STILL exceeds my experience at all others that I've lived. Maintenance is amazing, community events are thoughtful, property still well maintained and the neighborhood is still quiet but not so much so that you can't live your life comfortably. The rents have increased significantly since I moved here in 2021, like most places, so there's been a big shift in the demographic with more roommates. I still believe the value that I receive here is worth it for the location, space and beauty of my home. My neighbors are still friendly and care about the community--and management and maintenance go the extra mile to let you know you're valued--although I don't have to touch with them often because I rarely have issues because everything is maintained beautifully. We have lived at Harbor Point for about six years now, just renewed our lease last month. My wife and I have very busy schedules and do not spend much time at the amenities although we hear they are nice. The front office is always very welcoming and responsive. I would say one of the best assets living here is Jose who runs the maintenance. Although our place infrequently needs attention Jose is always extremely responsive, has a great attitude and always takes a moment to answer questions as he makes his rounds. I work in the construction service industry and know first hand how difficult his role is. When we have tasks that need his attention we never hesitate to have him into our home while we are away at work, 100% trust worthy and just a pleasure to interact with. read more

We love living at Harbor Pointe Apartment homes in DP. Great location, close to everything DP.. The complex is always very well maintained, safe & comfortable. The Bldg. maintenance staff takes good care of us!! Both Tony and Jose are knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and professional. We have had our fair share of challenges and they always come through with a solution. They complete the jobs quickly and thoroughly. I always feel like they go the extra mile to take care of us... While the office staff aren't the friendliest, or willing to offer any help thats not in their handbook, it was a good experience. We lived there a little over two years and had amazing neighbors. It's quiet on the west end of the property and most people are very pleasant. We were friends with several families and had cookouts together. The shining star of the complex is Eric their handyman. Always kind and would go out of his way to complete projects on time and fix things you didn't request (like a lightbulb that had gone out), Eric is made the unfriendly office staff issue a nonissue. Beware! They tow their OWN residents here. $1200 later I got my car back. Be careful of the parking nazi who has nothing better to do than to go around looking for cars to tow. I even told them my situation and that I could not afford the tow charges and they didn't care. No compassion or anything. I have since moved; and I never have to worry about getting towed at my new place. Note* I was parked in a lot of 40 spaces and only 10 are taken up all year; the manager insists they tow guests to make room for residents; so if you have guests over here, they are also in danger of being towed!!!! So here's my take, The location and property is great. Anytime you have a problem with the management or maintenance on this property you're screwed. Because of COVID-19 we were quarantined out of state for seven weeks a week before my return the person who is bringing my mail and noticed the toilet had debris from what appeared to be a sewage back up. Notice the rim and the water is clear inside around the bowl and floor was cleaned. Leads me to believe somebody was in the unit to clean it up and flush the toilet. Management denied it upon my return I found the apartment smelled like sewage. Reported this to management. A day and a half later they showed up with a meter to check for moisture the water was coming from underneath the vinyl plank flooring you can see it with the naked eye. Maintenance tells me it looks like a sink overflowed. Spoke with the neighbor and they had a sewage flood at approximately One week before we took this picture. I live here with my wife and two small children. The management company has done nothing to rectify it. They have just accused me of harassing them. I hired a private company to test for E. coli and bacteria considering how bad the smell is in my apartment. I've contacted Vicky's boss and still nothing not a word. So you be the judge if you wanna roll the dice and you never have to deal with the management probably be ok. But if somebody vandalize your car if one of the gardeners damage something of yours or the negligence from the staff it's a real nightmare. The results of my hazmat test will be back this coming Thursday we isolated the area ourselves put towels around the door stayed away from that area dealt with the smell. Place is pretty but everything breaks so fast. It's just basically a "for show house". Maintenance crew is rude and very nosey. Management team is fake as ever to get you to sign the lease and once you do they are a nightmare! They will keep your security deposit and make up more damages just to get money from you. There's no way to fight the charges either because they ignore you! read more

My family wanted to move near the beach for a while before buying a new house, and after looking, we settled on Harbor Point Apartments in Dana Point, CA. Everyone is very nice and accommodating before you sign a lease, and then after that, they seem to become quite difficult in a lot of situations. Case in point, we were moving 60 miles to the apartment and our movers messed up and we were not able to move in on the day we anticipated. I called the management and told them we'd move in the next day, but they said they needed to have the deposit the day we were originally supposed to move in. But since they didn't have an electronic option, I had to drive 60 miles there and 60 miles back so they could get their deposit. And that was before we even moved in! The general difficulty and rudeness continued in quite a few of our management interactions after that. The noise from continuous maintenance was also difficult to deal with for most of our stay. They especially liked to use the jackhammer to break up sidewalks and stairs, which made work calls rather difficult during Covid. Amenities were closed for extended periods without giving residents a break on the rent. And when things broke in the apartment that could not be easily fixed, we were left to simply deal with it. As an example, our dishwasher was already incredibly old, but then the already rusty racks started to have the dividers break off. We waited for over two months to get a new rack that never showed up. They should have put in a new dishwasher altogether, but that would have required an outlay of some money, which seems to be a one-way street in this management/tenant relationship. But the kicker in all of this was the excessive charges that occurred when we moved out. My family never wore shoes in the house. We have no pets. We never took food or drinks, other than water, upstairs (where the carpet was located). When we left, I patched all the small holes in the walls and re-painted with the paint they gave me. We took care of that apartment better than any other I'd ever lived in. And then we got our move out statement. We were charged over $400 for painting and professional carpet cleaning. It seems that they charge this to almost everyone, but they do not tell you that up front or include it in the lease. The language in the lease is quite vague and gives them the ability to do whatever they want. For them, it seems like "normal wear and tear" is just a line to throw around, but it means nothing. Fighting it is a waste of time because they hold all the cards. It's just not worth my time or energy. There are some positives - good location, good neighbors, and a very nice maintenance staff. All of that being said, I would tell anyone looking to move here to steer clear. In fact, if you are looking at any Sares-Regis apartment anywhere, do yourself a favor and walk away. They will only cause you headaches and cost you money. read more

We moved here 5/2020 and have loved it since! The location is 10/10, townhome style makes you feel like your living in a private single-family home! No issues whatsoever with the office staff, management, and maintenance. Any time we had a request for maintenance it was taken care of within 3 business days in a respectful professional matter. We just moved back to Harbor Pointe after a disappointing couple of years at Marea (fka Monarch Coast). Harbor Pointe's grounds are so much prettier and overall the residents are quieter here. The floors aren't paper thin and I love the lay-out of our new place (2 bdr townhome over the garages). The new appliances and finishes are great, the storage is amazing and Eric and the maintenance crew are so nice. We also had a great experience with Vikki and Jamie. For people who have tried the other complexes in Dana Point I can honestly say Harbor Pointe is the best choice! read more

It's a fine place to live, but here are the finer points you should know. #1 For the love of god, do not live near the pool. You will hear screaming children all summer long. You will hear drunks screaming at one another and generally every conversation with someone who has a boisterous voice. The windows are single pane and you will hear everything. You will find on the weekends, there are particular people and their children that will be the main problem, and there isn't anything you can do about it. Also while pool hours are posted, some people will not leave unless they are forcibly kicked out by courtesy patrol. #2 Don't rely on courtesy patrol to handle problems quickly. The courtesy patrol is just a contracted company that splits 1 person between multiple apartment units in the area. You will get your call addressed, but it may be an hour or more later until they can come to your area. #3 Your electric bill will skyrocket in hot periods. This comes back to having the single pane windows, and most likely outdated insulation. During most months from October to June, a 2 bedroom electric bill will go for about $90 if you are responsible with usage. July of 2017, my bill was $300+ This was running the air at night time to 72 degrees and turning it off in the morning with a little mix during the day to keep it around 76. Granted, I work from home, but it is something to consider. read more

Poor management. I was treated with little respect, and overcharged on move out fees. AC didn't work properly, so it ran up my electric bills up to the sky. 6-7 times higher than my neighbors' bills! They also charged me almost $1,000 to REPLACE a 15 year old garage door that broke WHILE MY CAR WAS INSIDE IT! Then, threatened me with an eviction if I didn't pay the bill! Looks nice, but very deceiving. Do yourself a big favor, and move on. THE WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX I HAVE EVER LIVED IN! Never had reason to. ---------------------------------------------- Rebuttal to Jesse & Laurie: I repeat, I have never posted a negative review about a rental house or apartment, before. Oddly, within only a few hours of my posting my original review, the couple, Jesse J. and Laurie J. , who referred me to Harbor Point, posted their own reviews, apparently, to counter mine. Then, Jesse texted me cautioning me about "ramifications and collateral damage", reviling me for what I wrote. How did they know to even do so, within only hours of my posting it? Did the Management at Harbor Point somehow coerce them? I asked him, but he would no give me an answer. Not even a denial. Regardless, against my better judgement, and out of my concern for them, I did remove my original review, and replaced it with a much softer version of it, which is above. CORRECTIONS: I did work in a proven mold environment for 2 months in 2016, however, they claim that I "complained about mold for over 20 years". That is a complete lie! This from a character who changed his legal name to "Jesse J.-----", a notorious outlaw. No surprises, here. The truth is that I have NEVER lived in a moldy house or apartment that I know of, and certainly never complained about doing so, to them or anyone else. But my experience with mold and how it seriously affected my health, did make me suspect that there might be some mold issues at HP. Am I "happy"? Basically, yes. But not with this place! Honestly, I find Jesse's and Laurie's attempts to besmirch my character and personality to be totally reprehensible. This is bullying brought to its highest levels. Nothing but lies from those two. Beware! Horrible place to live. If you have issues Vicky will take forever to take care of it. The gym looks enticing but it only has enough room for 2, then it gets weird. Beware of the wall. I have personally watched teens, homeless people, and drunks jump over it to get access to the property. Lock your doors at night. Speaking of smoke and mirrors, they are having a major termite issue. This is not confirmed but rumor has it that they are also having a mold issue. Again may not be true but beware! When you finally move out, Vicky will come up with bogus charges to keep your deposit. She will then tack on additional cost to scare you ! This place looks good from the outside but renters beware. Put in a maintenance request last night. My dryer is broke with wet clothes inside. It's now 2pm the next day, no response. I called the office. They only have one maintenance guy and he does things one maintenance request at a time. Could be a couple of days. Wow!!! My clothes will have rotted by then. Plus i have more clothes that need to be washed. I shouldn't have to go to the laundry mat, we pay $2800 a month for this place. This is only review number one. More to follow. read more
