John and Liz are great my dogs get so so excited that they start barking along the way and they can't hardly wait to get out of the car!! I have been taking my dogs here since 2009.. no issue! I took my dogs a few times to another place not far from here when john and Liz were booked up and it was awful - my dogs hated it and one of my dogs had his leg stuck in his collar who knows how long as he limped for a week after which tells me they didn't even check in on my pets..any way if you want a safe home away from home bring your babies here they are in great hands! read more

Please do not take your dogs here. The facility is old and run down and needs a major deep clean and remodel. The entire place is dirty and smells horribly of urine. I dropped my Lab off for a 10 day stay and wish I hadn't. When I was able to pick him up, because they were not open on Sunday, he was returned to me in a sad state. He had two cuts under his right eye and the hair around his nose was missing. I don't know if he got into a fight with another dog, was stressed or was mistreated. I took his towels with him so he would have something that smelled like home and was comfortable to lay on. They were returned to me covered in mud and soaking wet with urine. Additionally, the toys I took for him to have, which were some of his favorites, were returned to me smelling of urine. From what I could tell, the outdoor area is small and the dogs have limited time outside which could be the cause of all the urine. I had to run his towels through the washing machine TWICE on sanitize mode to get them clean enough to be used again and his toys through the dishwasher and even then, two of them had to be thrown away. My dog ended up needing two baths as well to clean him up and make him smell better. Yes, the pricing here is cheap, but you get what you pay for. I wish I'd taken my dog somewhere else and will do so next time I need a kennel. read more

My husband and I only trust Windsong to watch our 2 girls whenever we're out of town! We actually drive out to the country from Frisco because we like this kennel so much. John does a great job at making sure they get plenty of outside playtime which makes picking them up a breeze. They're always so happy when we pick them up! I have a 65 lb pitbull and 55 lb boxer for reference. John is super accommodating with our schedule and is overall a great place to kennel your furry friend. 10/10 recommend read more

We have used Windsong Kennels for over 20 years with multiple dogs. They always take great care of our dogs. Our last dog Maggie loved to go there and would go crazy when we started getting things ready for her to go because she was so excited. She would take off in the back with John and Elizabeth and couldn't wait to be dropped off. Maggie had several health issues and was on Doggie Hospice and they took great care of her. They even took her in last minute before Christmas when my father died unexpectedly. When I called to let them know I had to cancel my last reservation because Maggie died John said, "I'm sorry! We loved her" They are kind and caring and take care of the dogs as if they were their own. read more

This last summer I was desperate for a boarding service that didn't cost more than my rent because where we were going doesn't allow pets and we had exhausted all our options. Unfortunately the timing of the trip just made all other options impossible. Then on reddit someone recommended Windsong Kennels and saved our trip. This kennel is a good option for people uncomfortable with free run, open kennels whether your dog isn't well socialized or you are scared of them potentially getting hurt by another dog. They have several sized kennel options, all of which open to long, fenced runs for much more reasonable per night rates then EVERY other option. I had exhausted 7 other boarding options and for someone boarding 2 dogs, they were half the price. They also charge a fraction of the price for play time and have an exercise area larger than the runs. Unlike other places they didn't insist on me bringing the food, bedding and toys. They have their own there but you are allowed to bring your personal ones if you wish. My older dog has a harder time with larger kibble so they let me go into the kennel, see the toys/bedding and see the size of the kibble so I could decide if I needed to bring my own or not. Checking in or out is a lot faster when you only have to bring your dogs and leashes, though we had previously visited to tour so they already had their shots, etc on record. Both times I picked up my dogs they were happy and calm, even upon seeing other dogs walked outside when we were leaving. Uh, that NEVER happens! Due to my work schedule/location I personally wish they had either later Saturday hours or a short amount of Sunday hours because if you can't pick them up by noon on Saturday then you have to pick them up on Monday which is difficult for me only because of how far away I work. I actually completely respect that they want a day off and don't hold that against them. If I worked locally it probably wouldn't even be an issue for me. This is only in reference to a short stay, if you are doing a long stay like a week there is no one more convenient or more reasonably priced. read more

I boarded my dogs at Windsong Kennels in Argyle for 11 days while we were on vacation.They were in perfect health when I dropped them off. I picked them up yesterday and they had severe hotspots. I took them directly to the vet and after they shaved them and treated them it looked even worse. Not once did the owners of Windsong call to let us know that anything was wrong with our dogs. They just said they didn't know what was wrong with Lucy's head, and that Leia had a hot spot on her neck. I cried all day after picking them up. The Vet said that Leia's was the worst that he has seen. And the vet bill for both of them was $452. I read online that hotspots are caused from boredom and stress read more

I have been taking my babies since 1999, John and Elizabeth are wonderful people, My kennel cost gets expensive as I have 3 dogs and one cat, off the 3 one cannot be put in with he other dog so I have to have 2 dog runs and one cat run. they have always taken care of our animals, I shih Tzu is getting old and tends to snap, so they will not bother him , They were not able to administer the hot spot stuff on him as he snaps, Other than that, they have always worked with us. Windsong Kennels has been a great home away from home for our dogs. One dog has not always gotten along with other animals and has not always been fond of men, but they took wonderful care of our dogs every time we went out of town. We've used them over 10 years, and I can not highly recommend them enough. We traveled 30 minutes each way to leave our dogs with what we called, doggie camp. I just picked up my dog Eva from Windsong and was extremely disappointed. I haven't boarded her there in over a year, but care of facilities and animals seems to have gone downhill. After getting out of my car all I could smell was strong smell of urine and feces. I understand it is summer and the high heat increases animal smells, but, this was extremely potent and it was evident that droppings had been sitting out in the sun for an extended period. Once Eva and all her belongings (collar, harness and bed) were brought out, they smelled as if she had been sleeping in urine for days. I had to dispose of everything and take her to get a bath right away. I then had to go on a shopping trip to Petsmart to replace all the items I had to throw away. I won't be taking Eva back again due to the lack of sanitary conditions. read more

They know all eight of mine by names and know who boards with who. When my husband and I go to pick them up they all look at us like why are you here. Windsong is amazing! I have been going here for close to 15 years and John and Liz are the most caring people you would want watching over your animals. I live in downtown Dallas and will make the trip to Argyle because there are no other people I want to watch my dogs. Their house is on the property which gives so much comfort knowing someone is always close by! I don't want to bring my dogs to a fancy place where they can watch TV and get their teeth brushed....I want them to be with people I consider family and give them so much love and affection!
