Dr. Nasr was our vet until Friday, September 3rd, the day he yelled at me on the phone. We had taken our beloved shelter dog, to this vet since moving to the neighborhood in 2018. Despite some mixed reviews, quirkiness and lo-fi facilities, we were mostly happy with the service provided in several annual checkups, a vaccination, and treatment of an ear problem. On September 3rd, we were out of state visiting family. A friend was dog sitting, and called us in tears explaining that our dog had panicked on a walk in our neighborhood, pulled out of his collar and run off. Our dog is fast and he got so far away his whereabouts were unknown. As hard as this would have been if we were present, being an airplane flight away made it a full nightmare. We rallied friends to join the search, posted online and began to prepare for me heading home early as we could not imagine losing our dog forever without giving it everything we had. The NYC recommended website for registering lost dogs asked for chip ID number. This was especially important since our dog had pulled out of his collar and had no other id. We were deathly afraid of him ending up at a shelter and never even knowing. Not having this chip number to hand, I called the vet on Friday at 5:12pm, praying that he would pick up as the office closes at 5:00pm. Imagine my relief when the familiar voice of the vet picked up nearly immediately. I started to explain the situation and hadn't even gotten to ask if had our chip ID on file when he raised his voice and said things like: "Who is this" "You have the wrong number" "YOU ARE WRONG" I was confused, and even briefly thought maybe I had misdialed. However, the vet has a very unique (for Brooklyn) manner of speaking, and I carried on, repeating myself several times until it was clear what I was after, the chip ID on file for our dog, who goes to Windsor Terrace Vet on Prospect Avenue. At this point, the responses changed: "This number is for emergencies only" "THE CLINIC IS CLOSED" The number I called is the public number on their website and on Google, the one shown in this very Yelp profile. I thought he must be (awkwardly, rudely) thinking I was calling for something routine. It was, after all, 12 minutes after closing, so perhaps he still wasn't understanding the urgency of the situation. I again repeated that we knew him well, our dog had been coming here for over three years, that this was indeed an emergency and that we just needed the chip ID number if he could please provide it. "YOU ARE NOT HEARING ME" "THE CLIIIIINIIIIIC IS CLOOOOOOOOOOSED" "EMERGENCY ONLY" No amount of me trying to make clear that our dog's life was in danger, no amount of pleading got him to say anything beyond this. Perhaps he had had a bad day? Perhaps he was far from the clinic and could not access their records system to provide the number we needed? Perhaps we didn't meet his definition of pet emergency? Perhaps if you call 12 minutes after close you should expect to be lied to and yelled at? We'll probably never know, because instead of listening and explaining any of this, he just kept yelling at me, probably for five whole minutes. I'm sorry about whatever it was that made him do that. But we learned that day that we cannot rely on him in time of our pet's greatest need. Epilogue - to our relief, our dog was found hours later thanks to Nextdoor. This is, without a doubt, the rudest vet (and possibly doctor) I have ever encountered in my life. Long story short, I accompanied a friend there as she was in a very sad situation with her longtime pet. As a completely neutral observer, it was baffling to watch the vet's lack of empathy, compassion, and rudeness. I don't know if he was having a bad day, is accustomed to lecturing and speaking down to women, or is just a rude person, generally, but I was taken aback by the whole experience. Additionally, this place is not clean. I very rarely leave reviews, but please, take your pet somewhere else. Dr Nagy is an amazing doctor with a lot of intuitive knowledge and able to efficiently, accurately diagnose all 5 of our cats...he is genuine, pleasant and provided an overall great experience. On top of that, my cats seem to like him as they don't try to scratch him versus some of our other vets over the years lol. Here comes a cautionary tale. I was traveling with my cat from Brooklyn, NY, to Colombia. Colombia requires an international health certificate. I searched on the USDA for a list of vets who provide this service (https://vsapps.aphis.usda.gov/vsps/public/VetSearch.do) Nasr's clinic is listed on the 2nd page. I called a few vets before I called him. Some didn't have any appointments and some seemed extremely expensive. Nasr is located near me and his rate seemed more reasonable. Please note that this service needs to be taken care of within 10 days of travel. Because on the phone this vet assured me that he can take care of the health certificate, I made my appointment with him 8 days before my flight, on September 27th. When we arrived, the vet performed an exam on the cat. He offered to clip his nails too, but my cat escaped his grip and jumped on the floor. Nasr then threw something that looked like a cloth table napkin on him, grabbed him, and tried to clip his nails again. He asked me to scruff my cat - and this is where my cat clawed me, so that I was now bleeding... Dr. Nasr proceeded to try to clip his nails but then, about two nails in, changed his mind and gave up. I brought the printout of the health certificate. Nagy Nasr proceeded to fill it out (or so I thought). Then, on the last page, there was a box for signatures. He signed the "accredited veterinarian" box. The second box said "Usda Veterinarian". He left that blank and told me that I now had to go and find a USDA vet and have this box signed too. I checked the USDA website and said that I thought he had to submit the health certificate electronically and that this request to go to another vet didn't sound right. But he insisted. Then, he and his wife charged me the same amount twice on two separate cards. This was an honest mistake due to the fact that their credit card reader was broken. They refunded one of the charges. I then checked the USDA website again. I saw that there was an option to submit the certificate via FedEx or electronically from the vet's office and that there is no other way to do it. I thought that maybe Nagy Nasr was right and there were special USDA vets who would sign off and submit it. But USDA said no, this doesn't exist. The same vet usually fills out the certificate and submits it. I thought I was just dealing with a vet who doesn't know computers. I FedExed this health certificate overnight and, thankfully, the USDA agent in Albany was kind enough to email me immediately and tell me that the certificate Dr. Nagy submitted was some sort of a joke, filled out by a man who didn't know what he was doing, and that I needed to get another one or have that one fixed asap. At this point, we were much closer to my travel date. I called Nagy- but he yelled at me. I asked for a refund but unfortunately, no refund ever came. I ended up going to All Ears Veterinarians who filed my cat's paperwork last minute, to the same case # the USDA agent provided. They saw Nagy's certificate and said that it was unacceptable. This was all extremely stressful, not to mention that I wasted $ 175 dollars on a document that isn't valid. So be warned, people. read more

I've been coming to Dr Nasir ever since I got my balding husky rescue two years ago. Before him, I went to two other vets whom ran all kinds of tests to see why my husky was balding. Dr Nasir assessed the problem immediately, within 5 minutes of seeing him, and fixed the problem. Flea allergies. I rescued a second husky. She had a bump on her belly, so I thought it might be a tick. With one look and a grope later, Dr Nasir diagnosed her with a hernia, and put her into surgery. My take: my dog just died peacefully at 13; the last 6 under Dr. Nasr's care. He didn't lead me into unnecessary treatment when cancer became the clear issue. We went over the course and costs for past surgeries. He did not issue prescriptions for medication that he sells. This is a single-man operation. Yes, Dr. Nasr will charge $10 for 'Medical Waste Disposal Fee' --- I don't know if the other Brooklyn vets do this, or if they hide the cost elsewhere. From what I've experienced, all the NYC area vets are businesspeople. I understand that. I do know that he's always been straight with me. He left me his cell #, and was willing to put my dog down at my home had he needed that respite. Confidence and manner are subjective, and important when you're entrusting the care of a beloved companion to a doctor. I went to this clinic to maintain the health of a mid-sized aging dog. I inspected the surgery room and was satisifed with the cleanliness. I can't speak to the grooming service. From the poor reviews I've read about other Brooklyn vet clinics in my area, and the inconvenience in getting a big dog over to the ones on the Slope, I maintain this is a worthwhile vet for the Windsor Terrace area. read more

My dog has been having some allergies lately. I decided to check this place out since we just moved from Park Slope to Windsor Terrace and it's the closest vet. Here's my first impression: The waiting area is normal, uninspiring but with the usual brochures and dog pics. The vet is a jolly, slightly hyper man who, to be perfectly honest, appears harmless but doesn't inspire confidence. His manner with my dog was a little rough and appeared almost inexperienced (strange ways of holding him on the examination table). He didn't check gums or underbelly or any of the usual checks you see when you go to the vet. Just temp and weight. He confirmed that my pup seems to be having allergies, and gave me an antibiotic/anti-itch med combo. My dog has had allergies before, and he's never had to take a strong medicine like that, let alone for 2 weeks. The bill came to $118. I find it very expensive. There was a charge in my invoice for $10 called 'Medical Waste Disposal Fee'... ? So all in all, I was left with the feeling that something's off at this place. We'll be making the trek over to Park Slope Vets again. read more

Dr. Nasr has been our doctor for about 10 years now, he has been the family doctor for all of my animals (Akita, German Shepherd, Bunnies, Cats) and this relationship started when I had a sick rabbit and no one would see her in all of Brooklyn except Dr.Nasr. We used to take our dogs to One Love AH around Atlantic Ave- hated it- should review them next, actually. First- I had to cancel my appointment and switch to another date. Not a single problem. The morning of my appointment I called to check on the time, a half an hour earlier than I anticipated (my fault)- but the doctor offered to have me come in a half an hour later, not a problem at all he said. He took the time to meet my needs when I wasn't prepared for the day. It happens, but usually, you don't have the vet picking up his cell phone telling you it's all OK. Fantastic. What I loved about WTV was that they didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need. He found a cyst on my dogs tail that we just assumed was from a break or from puppy hood (years later, it's a cyst.) We went to WTV yesterday (9/28/15) with our 2 DOGS, Heather and Eli Manning. Now- Heather doesn't really like anyone.. Growls, protective of me, terribly intelligent. She got along with not only the vet tech/receptionist but also the Vet! He was petting her face and speaking kindly to her, nope, not one growl! Wow-amazing. The vet informed us of recent vaccinations and didn't push us for anything other than what we truly needed. You can really tell that the Doctor isn't out to make a buck or to scam people or try to get more money out of you! He went through everything with us, was kind not only to us but to my dogs- which, honestly, is far more important to me. What I thought was another great addition that I hadn't seen before was that the examination table was able to be lowered down manually, so we didn't have to pick up our large dogs and put them on the table. Super helpful tool! Look- if you want something fancy that serves coffee, tea and biscuits, then this isn't the place for you. I would rather pay for cheaper health care for my dogs than to pay extra for the nice waiting room, coffee and tea in Park Slope. This place is Brooklyn. Dr. Nasr is an excellent veterinarian and I am very happy to have found him in the neighborhood! My cat had a UTI and he let us come in on a Saturday without an appointment so he could get checked out right away. In addition to treating my cat and getting the right medication, he gave me a few cans of special cat food for urinary tract infections for free. He even texted a few days later to check on how my cat was doing! We found Dr. Nasr when our cat needed surgery and he was amazing. She was semi-feral as a kitten and has always been a little rough around the edges. Other vets (Animal Kind, Hope) always had to sedate her to be able to do anything (even take her temperature). Not Dr. Nasr. I saw with my own eyes as he gently, expertly, and swiftly removed her stitches without sedation. I would not have believed it was possible. Dr. Nasr comfort and ease with animals is very apparent. I am between 3-4 stars on this. We have always taken our pets to Dr. Nasr and our experiences have been fine. His way of charging for things is weird and he always tries to make you feel like you are saving money, but I like the guy. He is fine with our little Piranha of a dog, tolerating biting and crapping each and every time. If there was another vet right next door, I would probably go to it, but it is just fine. It's extremely convenient and no frills, and the Dr is a total character - really fits in on this goofy strip in Windsor Terrace. I found this place through my boyfriend's sister recommendation. Since I had just moved to Brooklyn from being in Queens all my life, I did not know the neighborhood and whom to look for the best care for my two puggie pooches. The first few visits were reasonable rates, and I felt the vet (his name is Naggy Nasar) was very attentive and caring. He offered free ear cleaning and free nail clipping. But when my pug was diagnoised with an enlarged heart, his charges were off the hook. It was like he was looking for areas to check up on, and of course being the owner I would do whatever that does my dogs best. He would charge me for a microscope test (which took him 5 seconds) to see if my dog had earmites, which was like $50, an x-ray for $75. Not to mention, I got tricked into buying a cheesy pill crusher. He also tries to negotiate the prices with you. Ultimately, if he sees your rich and willing to spend on your dog, he will ask you to do all these tests and find excuses to charge you. The atmosphere wasn't all that great either. There was no proper reception desk but rather a room with a desk and a teenager girl reading cosmopolitian magazine was working there. Definitely won't go again!! read more

Dr. Nasr was recommended to me by a friend who has been going to him with few pets for years. The experience I had at his office was great. (I read a review about his waiting area being uninspiring. I am not even sure what that means, the waiting area is spacious and perfect for few impatient dogs.) He was very friendly and my dog liked him which is very important to me. At the time when I took my dog there she had UTI, Dr. Nasr checked her out, gave her medicine and we were on our way. She felt better the following day and Dr. Nasr also called to check up on her after few days which I wasn't expecting but it was very nice of him to do. I wish Dr. Nasr was closer to my house as it would be easier for me to take my dog to him without needing public transport. Overall, this is really the best vet i ever took my dog to and I did "shop" around for vets. He is honest, gives options for treatments and really cares about the animals that come to him. read more

I've been going to Dr. Nasr for a few years, primarily for odd rashes and an ocular problem for my cat. He'd noticed that she had trouble breathing once, treated it as brochitis and sent me on my merry way. I found out this afternoon that my ailing cat, who I took to VERG in South Brooklyn for an emergency visit after hyperventilating, has feline leukemia and heart disease. They've given her a year to live. I can't help but think that Dr. Nasr should have listened to the signs and symptoms, and we could have caught the diseases earlier to treat them appropriately... read more

We move to Brooklyn last year and lived there for 1 year. I have two dogs and of course we had to find a new vet. I went to Windsor Terrace and didn't have the need to go elsewhere. They were always professional and the service is great! They are all nice people and very nice to animals. Yoy can see they just love every animal. Prices are also good. Overall we were very happy with them and the dr was very helpful and gives you a lot of information. I also liked that I was able to be with my pets when they were examined or got shots while in lots of other places (talking from experience) they take your dog in the back and you wait outside. I understand if it's some serious medical issue but for shots and small stuff I like to be close by. I also loved the fact that they are not all crazy pro vaccines. I don't like my dogs over vaccinated so the vet nicely explained what are the necessary vaccines and which ones are not. At least in the city environment when some vaccines are not needed and some are very needed. So far I was only meeting vets who wanted to push for most vaccines every 6 months and here some vaccines were ok once a year. They really got a big plus here for being reasonable about this here. The vet was also available all the time on his cell phone. I thought I had a slight emergency once and he calmed me down and let me wait a little because it was emergency at all. But in most cases they would probably want me to come in and check my dog and make some money even if they kmew it was no big deal. So I know they are not there just for the money but to help your animals when they need help. I really liked it there and I wish I could still go there but we moved to NJ now. I also wanted to say that Dr. Nasir always introduced the procedures of treatment and all the facts and steps when he was treating my dogs. I didn't need to pull information out of him and he always let me know how some meds work and what I should be careful for side effects. I recommend their clinic to every pet owner. read more

I have incredibly mixed feelings about this situation. We have been taking our cat here since she had her first stroke; almost a year ago; dr has always been incredibly helpful, available nearly 24/7 via cell phone, offering reasonable solutions and it looked like he truly cared. Up until the last week, when our baby girl was feeling weak and loopy. My husband called and heard we should give her honey - honey to a disoriented cat with a history of strokes ? He then took her in and she was diagnosed with ear infection and ear mites and possibly a stroke. She was sent home with $400 worth of medication that did nothing at all. We had to watch her suffer through several more seizures/strokes - advised by the doctor that she will die in 30 minutes and there's nothing we can do. She survived the night. We knew there's nothing more we can do and we wanted to give her a respectful dignified end, we called him and he impatiently barked at us a price of euthanasia (four times as much as any other local vet) and complained that he's busy. Long story short, we went to another vet, our girl is gone, and thanks to this office the last few days with her were made unnecessarily more painful for her and us by doctors lack of empathy and compassion and possible neglect. Now I'm left with a crippling fear that he misdiagnosed her from the beginning and had I only gone somewhere else she would still be here. He made me doubt every exam ever taken and every method of treatment chosen. I will never know the truth and I will never get my girl back. read more

I don't write a lot of yelp reviews but this place deserves all the stars. Dr. Nasr is so kind and truly loves every animal that walks through his doors. I brought my very fat cat (please don't shame me - she's on a diet and Dr. Nasr is helping me get her to a healthy weight) in at the first available appointment (that afternoon). She had a fever and had too much fur in her stomach. He gave me antibiotics that are easy to give her and very low trauma for both of us. I dropped her off this morning for a teeth cleaning and blood work and naturally started sobbing because anesthesia is scary, and he was so reassuring. He called to check in a couple of hours after I picked her up, too. Amazing animal care, amazing human care, and totally affordable. Never going anywhere else. read more

Let me begin my review with the qualifier that I have never brought my pets to Windsor Terrace Veterinarians. That said, after what transpired earlier this afternoon, I can say for certain that I will NEVER bring my pets to them. While having lunch across the street, a puppy without a leash or a tag wandered up to me. After looking around the block for the dog's owner with no success, I carried him in my arms to the Windsor Terrace Veterinarians. I explained to the Doctor that this wasn't my dog and that the dog was found wandering the streets without any identification. Could he please scan the dog for me to see if the dog was microchipped? The doctor said that he didn't have a scanner. 2 things: If he didn't have a scanner, why not? Is this akin to a hospital lacking a defibrillator or stethoscope? I then asked if he had a cheap free leash or some string/rope/twine so I could at least leash the dog and walk him over to my vet. he said he didn't have any string/rope/twine and proceeded to try and sell me a $10 leash. I simply cannot believe that, in that office, there is not a cheapie leash left over or 3 feet or string or rope. My only conclusion is that he wanted to sell merchandise. Dr. Naggy is amazing! I highly recommend this Vet. He found a Huge tumor on my 11 year old Puggle that other state of the art veterinarians over looked! He found it performed surgery and my dog woke up as is nothing ever happened. He really is amazing. Worth every penny and worth the trip. For me it's almost a 50 minute drive. This vet seemed nice at first, but when I requested test results to get a second opinion he became extremely hostile. Turns out he had misdiagnosed my dog. I believe this place to be very shady. read more

Dr. Nasr is always professional, pleasant, and extremely helpful. He may not sugar coat things, but I appreciate that. His prices are reasonable and he even helps out sometimes by splitting costs where he can for my 2 dogs. He charges the same for medication that one would pay if buying online, but he never pushes unnecessary treatments. He is always willing to accommodate to the best of his ability, and I am happy to bring the new puppy there to begin his life in his care. read more
