First time in and I can confidently say it will not be the last! Andrea (the owner) made us feel right at home. To have her join our table and tell us all about her passion, process, and story of opening shop made me realize what a special find this place was. Authentic, classic Chicago dishes, bursting with flavor, and exceeding all expectations. She even gave us samples as she was talking us through the menu. We ordered a chili dog (10/10), pizza puff (10/10 and with classic Italian marinara), fries with cheese sauce (10/10 with a delicious homemade cheese), and the Chicago dog (10/10 and tasted just like one from the Windy City). OMGoodness. Finally, the real thing! Every time I stop they have a different special that I can never finish all the way because there is so much but I usually try because it is so darn good. Definitely give this place a try. It's not just hot dogs. It's way way more. The staff there is also some of the friendliest of anywhere I have been to eat. Wow! It's so refreshing to get a fantastic little gift from our neighbors in Chicago! It's a family run business using grandmas recipes and just enough modernization to excel in a smaller town. Meals Come out quick, and often. It's busy and welcoming when you come in. Order at the register from the huge menu on the wall behind the bar. Chicago beef was fantastic - the bread really stood up to the beef, peppers and sauce! Fries were crunch and hot. We are certainly going back for Chicago Dogs shortly. Andra and her team have managed to not only bring Chicago to south Portage but their hospitality and dedication to the true essence of every dish inspires one to appreciate the culture and history of the Chicago they represent. The chocolate peanut butter brownie was outstanding! Don't pass on the dessert. The only reason for four stars instead of five was the fries. Good flavor. Fresh cut. Perfectly salted. We spotted this new opened restaurant from Facebook's Kalamazoo Menu group. Super happy to have tried this spot. They have Chicago Dogs and food that follows what you'd expect for Chicago city on-the-go food. The restaurant from the street seems so small, with parking in the back, but like the TARDIS, it's bigger on the inside. Six tables of four, with a bar-side. Went there with my husband and grand daughter. Chili dogs, plain dog and fries. Like a 1/4 cup of onions on the dog, so many I had to scrape more off than I kept. Fries were tasty but bits and pieces. I can't understand that. Service was great! Sat outside shady pleasant surroundings. read more

We love Chicago Dogs and we were very excited about this place. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. The dawg looked like someone literally sat on the buns and the rest was literally thrown together (no presentation at all). Then we paid $4 for a QUARTER(!) sack of fries and another $1.50 for cup of cheese sauce. They are proud the fries are house cut and used that as the excuse for serving us pieces. But what little fries we got were pieces that were COLD, LIMP, and Burnt. There was not ONE single whole fry in the whole QUARTER bag for $4!! The cheese sauce is way better at Arby's. We did mention the fries to the staff and we were offered a dessert which we declined. (yes we did tip them off to the smashed buns too) There are other places to get a Chicago Dog so if this place doesn't seriously step it up quickly, they won't last long. I gave them a 2 star out of courtesy because they just opened. Hopefully they can do better soon and we can upgrade. read more

For lunch we wanted to try a new place to eat. Holy cow! The Italian beef was so flavorful, the bread was perfect and held the juices perfectly. The peppers were spot on. The fries AMAZING!! Finally a Chicago Vienna hotdog on a poppy seed bun. Perfect!!! But the BEST surprise was a PIZZA PUFF!!! This was the best pizza puff!!! The flakey outside ughhh and the delicious Italian sausage and cheese and sauce inside. the chocolate cake was BETTER than Portillo's!! Ughh such an amazing delicious place to eat. The owners are incredibly nice, talkative and kind. I seriously forgot we were in Michigan eating. My heart is so happy and my belly is full!! Please show this place some love !!! I had visited WCD back in May and really enjoyed a sandwich; so when we were nearby tonight my husband and I decided to bring some dinner home. There is nothing like a local shop. I always feel like they are more connected to their customers. WCD is so welcoming! We asked questions, Leila answered thoroughly and we decided to go with breaded steak sandwhich and the Italian beef sandwhich and split both & share. The service was wonderful and quick. Both sandwich's were amazing. We're already looking forward to going back & stay and eat there. The vibe is comfortable, clean and welcoming with lots of great movie memorabilia. Friendly staff. They are set up for carry out, but do have a few tables. No plates, silverware, cups, ice, straws, etc.. Every order handed to you in a paper bag. Our order had a Chicago dog, 2 chili dogs, fries and a can of soda. All dogs in a paper wrapper. The Chicago dog was at the bottom. Its wrapper was too loose and all of the toppings were in the bottom of the bag. The chili dogs were wrapped tight, but that pushed the chili all over the inside of the wrap. Very messy. Pricey and small servings. Ordered the polish dog and had to search for the meat inside. $8 for a dog is pretty steep. The fries were very good and I would get them again. Service was pretty slow as I waited over 10 minutes and only had 2 people inline before me. I will give it another shot hopefully things will be better. read more

I decided to pick up a couple of polish dogs, an Italian beef, and an Italian sausage sandwich after work, and I was certainly not disappointed. Not only was the food delicious and satisfying, but I also had the pleasure of talking with the owner about this passion project from the windy city. The entire experience was very relaxed, and I felt like a guest in her home rather than a stranger in some hot dog joint. From the vintage movie posters on the wall to the genuine personalities and smiling faces of the folks that work there, we really are lucky to have a special piece of Chicago culture right here in Portage MI. I grew up S side Chicago Archer, Pulaski, so I believe I know food. Hot steamed buns no ketchup were good, the fries nots so good, need to be crispy, thinking like Nicky's hot dogs, The Italian Beef sandwich was good, could up the flavor, use richer beef broth some chili powder, oregano, sliced onions with red/green peppers. If possible offer steamed Tom Tom tamales. service was great, need a couple Blues Brothers figures sitting in booth. read more
