The wine concept is that there are 5 cases of wines, you can choose a tasting, a glass, a larger pour, or a bottle. You get a new glass with each new pour. Where everyone who booked the tour that day picked out one thing in the store and the chef takes what everyone picked and prepares a surprise 4 course meal for everyone. This is my second time at Uncork and we left saying "Not impressed."the concept of pouring your own wine, the amount you like with a card is interesting, but at the end is really not fun or worth the cost. First, you enter and you have to give a credit card in order to get a card that you enter each time you want a pour of wine. There is not an extensive offering of wines. I was disappointed to see one rose that was very sweet. I ended up trying 1 oz pours of 3 different wines before deciding what I liked. Normally, I would have told the bartender my preferences and would have found a glass of wine that I would enjoy. The food offerings are good but not great. With a busy morning in Charleston we stopped by Uncorked in the afternoon for a small snack. Upon entering you are given a card with a chip to use for wine and food. They have 40 wines on tap that you are able to choose if you want 3,6, or 9 oz pours. With our wine, I got the Stuffed Portabello Mushrooms and they were gluten free and a great snack. They didn't have a ton of gluten free options but I was glad they had a few. The appetizers were a little expensive for the size but the wine was a good price. We got the charcuterie board, which had meats, cheese, nuts, pickled vegetables, fruits, dried fruits, fresh locally baked bread, in-house made sauces and mustards and fresh herbs. It may have been the best charcuterie board we have ever eaten. We sat at the bar and were able to interact with a lot of the employees. The service was very good. The bar tender, chef and servers were all really friendly and attentive. On the night we went, there was live music with a man playing guitar and singing. Loved this cute little wine bar! It is a self service wine bar where the wine is on tap. You sync your credit card to a card they give you and you can try all different types of wine. They had some really great rose and orange wine options. The food looked great but we didn't eat there we stopped in before dinner elsewhere. We were both disappointed in the food and service this week at Uncork on King. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of appetizers including Meatballs and Whipped Goat Cheese Crostini. First of all, the goat cheese certainly was not whipped it was lumped on soft baguette and smothered in sweet balsamic syrup topped with strawberry and basil. Good concepts but poor execution. The meatballs were better but included a strange spice that I could not identify and certainly did not belong in the dish. Servers were more focused on their phones than customers and a few took time to vape outside the kitchen door which is not appropriate in a wine bar.
