First time customer and most likely it's not going to be my last. I have definitely found my go to liquor store in the area. I used to head over to AP liquor around the corner but the prices here are just magical. Let me start off first by saying that it's very conveniently located in town and easy to park and hop right in. The store itself is huge with a crazy amount of selection and it's clean! OMG, finally a liquor store that doesn't smell like fungus. They had this amazing jasmine smell in the air that was very refreshing and welcoming. The floors were sparkling as if you could eat off the floor. The lights aisles were quite big and roomy. The staff is knowledgable and helpful in finding the stuff I was looking for. Btw, if you haven't tried the Balvenie scotch 14 years old Caribbean Cask then you are missing out. Amazing selection of the wines, scotches and beers. It's truly seems to be a one stop shop for me in town. Prices were also very good compared to the other guys in town, at least $3 - $6 in some cases. Don't waste you time and money by going anywhere else, Wine Chateau is where it's at. Truly as 5 star location, business and people. I love this place, they have regular wine tastings most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (I think from 5 to 7pm ish). Always make you feel welcome with great knowledgeable staff. I have been a regular for the past 12 to 18 months. Just recently started to use the website where they offer some fantastic deals with free shipping on cases of 12! The delivery for me comes within 24 hours but then again I live pretty close to the store:). Also they offer loyalty points in store and online! I ordered this for a gift for my husband for Christmas, and it was finally delivered the end of February! I'm sure your wondering why I gave them 5 stars? Well, Hiram Walker Amaretto and Cognac is extremely difficult to find ANYWHERE, but I finally found it on the Wine Chateau website and ordered it through them. They apparently also had a very difficult time ordering it from their source as well, but they kept me informed of the status of my order, and I finally received it at the end of February. It was well worth the wait because it is such a flavorful and decadent libation and my husband was thrilled to get it! I'm just puzzled why it's so difficult to get. Delivery wasn't particularly fast but the items I ordered were not easy to find so I did not mind the wait. Customer service was very helpful and they sent my items separately when they had problems getting one. Customer service is insanely rude! I just called to ask what time they're open until due to the holidays and I couldn't hear what the girl said, so I told her, politely, I couldn't hear her, and she just hung up on me. There's also someone who works there who doesn't even speak English. There's shopping carts ALL OVER the parking lot. You'd be lucky to find a spot that doesn't have a shopping carts in it's spot. Convenient for me because of it's closer, but I'm now just going to choose to go farther store, just for a better environment and customer service. read more

This is the third time I've ordered from them. The first time the order took almost a whole month to be delivered. The second time the order came pretty fast so tried them a third time. I'll never order from them again. There was a double charge on my credit card from them and when I called to get help fixing it, they were rude - interrupting and talking over me repeatedly - and they needed to make sure I knew it was my fault over and over again. Not sure what they hoped to accomplish. Probably the worst customer service I've ever had. Good luck if you decide to order from them. read more

I'm a continued patron here and they keep expanding their selection and staff. This updated review warrants me to write that Greg who is their store manager was so helpful in helping me find all the right stuff for my private party I was doing. Never been to their wine tasting room before until this time around where they were doing a small wine tasting and I must say that I've never seen a tasting room quite like it. The room was decorated with a fiber optic chandelier that was just stunning. The floor was some kind of an epoxy finish that was just royal, and the seating was also very comfortable. Overall, when I'm in town visiting, I make it a point to stop by here to make sure I pick up what I need to. Prices continue to be the best marketing aspect of this place as you can save a boat load by making some big purchases ahead of time. Well done guys. read more

I called a woman manager in metuchen the other day and told her that my Stella beer 6 pack nips didn't taste right and there is a freshness date that was expired on the back of the bottle 2/21. She said, oh that date means nothing, but bring it back. So I did. I couldn't exchange it evenly because the nips on their shelve was the same expiration date as to what I initially purchased and my beer tastes bad! So I got a regular six pack and said I will pay the difference. She said I can only do an even exchange. I said the beer you got on the shelve is expired! I dont want the same thing to happen. She said she couldnt exchange it for nothing else. I left my return of nips on the counter with the additional items I was going to purchase and left. I suggested she have the owner drink the expired beer on me. My money is just as green anywhere. My husband and I spend good money there. I never liked their overly perfumed smell when u walked in the door anyway. Made me choke! At least now I will be pushed to give my business elsewhere. If I was an owner I'd be grateful to have it brought to my attention. Therefore, I'm sure they are well aware of what their doing. Shame on you! wine chateau ! You lost good customers. I had the worst customer experience today. At 3:00 pm EST on 12/12/26, I was in line to be helped by a woman. A male worker motioned to me that he would open another register for me. I had a number of items that he successfully scanned. There was one item that he could not. He asked the woman for help twice. In a nasty tone all she could say is "I can't hear you" then went right back to helping the customer in front of here. I was totally surprised that she blew him off like that. I was embarrassed for him. That is a HORRIBLE way to treat a teammate. I had to tell this woman what was going on. All she told me was to take my stuff and get into her line. She did not offer AT ALL to help her co-worker or myself. I was stunned. I asked her if she was going to help him at all. She gave me a look and blew us both off with no response. I asked her again if she can help him. She got a really nasty attitude with me in front of everyone. First rule of thumb with customer service...NEVER ENGAGE A CUSTOMER!!! No one time did she show any empathy or understanding of the situation. At that point, I started walking out. However...I still felt back for the co-worker she treated like garbage. I walked back and told him that we can both figure it out ourselves and we did not need her. We flailed away for a few minutes and she STILL did not help. I asked her if she would come over and she looked at me and kept on going. Helped another customer in her line, too. I was flabbergasted at this display. This person did not care one bit that I can leave at anytime and not spend my money there. Clearly, she was trained poorly on top of the attitude she showed myself and her co-worker. Finally she came to help. I told her how unhappy I was and did not care. I asked for a manager and she told me....as she was walking away...that this person would be in at 5pm EST. I called the store at 5:07pm EST and spoke to someone who claimed to be the manager. She feigned interest in what I had to say. It was like I was wasting her time. I told her what happened yet she kept on trying to get in a word. Rule number 2....NEVER INTERRUPT THE CUSTOMER. I had to tell her repeatedly to let me finish my sentence and train of thought. This manager told me that the woman does not work in the front and that she was only checking people out since another worker was a no-show. I said should it matter that she checks people out or not? She should care about the customer 100% of the time no matter what they do while employed there. If that person was rude to the two of us in front of everyone once, can you imagine if I had to ask her a question about where something may be stocked or do you have the item in stock? I told the alleged manager that this person should NEVER be customer facing. I also told her that I expected my complaint to die with her. The manager claimed that it would not but I do not believe her. So now, I need to find the corporate offices to lodge a complaint. I told the manager that I've lived in town for 25 years. I will be posting this review on facebook...metuchen matters....and another site called metuchen moms. I've already spoken to some friends. Although they will not stop shopping there (nor do I expect them to) they told me that they will not be buying anything from them for New Years. That is a start. I know I have a few more days to get a few more friends to back me up and hit their wallet for at least one big holiday. I will be going to Metuchen Wine and Liquor from now on. They have a GREAT, friendly couple working there. Every time I walk in, I am greeted with "Hey buddy, how are you!" That alone is enough for me. I will never go back to Wine Chateau again. I don't know how this company can still be in business. My story is the same as that of others before me. Online order confirmed, credit card charged 1-2 days later, shipment incomplete, empty promises from customer service dept. as to order fulfillment and a new ship date. It took over 4 weeks to get 10 btl in multiple shipments, numerous phone calls to them and today I am still missing 2 btl which were (again) promised to be shipped by the end of the day. No special wine, vintage or vineyard. Stay away from online order. Waste of time. I am taking all my business to Total Wine. Never had a problem with them. Thank you, Wine Chateau, but no thank you.
