Such a great spot to pick up a bottle or more of wine from - whether it's provided from a VA winery or not. The Wine Warehouse has some great bottles from different regions all around the world that you normally can't get a hold of (especially at a grocery store). The pricing for a lot of their surplus isn't bad either. Definitely a fun experience to visit and learn about their stock and THEY ALSO HAVE BEER FROM DIFFERENT BREWERIES! I have had mostly great experiences with majority of the staff but on one occasion there was a run in with an employee/manager where I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously from the go. This led to not getting the assistance that I was accustomed to from Wine Warehouse and also not getting the recommendation that I was asking for from that individual. I was interested in trying a certain unfamiliar varietal and was seeking this wine in a certain price range. My range was never asked and I was given a bottle $7 bottle of wine that he preferred. I was ready to spend anywhere from $20-$50 if the bottle was worth it but ended up carrying the $7 bottle to the counter. I was later given a heads up by someone else to put that bottle back where I got it from if you get what I am saying. That stellar individual guided me to great bottles of wine and made my most recent visit much better. Kudos to that employee. Other than this I would still say visit Wine Warehouse for sure! read more

I appreciate the hustle of Wine Warehouse. While I grumble under my breath when trying to enter the parking lot, once I'm there all is right in the world. Yes, I did say world. Have you seen the worldwide supply of wine and beer? Pick a region and you will find something to tickle your fancy. I'm the first to admit, walking in for the first time, your head might spin. Once you determine the layout, its all gravy from there. Unpopular opinion coming up.... I'm not a wine guy. I know, let me have it. I frequent the Wine Warehouse just for the beer. If I'm not sure what I'm feeling that day, they are always ready to give me a recommendation. If I'm interested in trying new things, I can come on a Friday when they offer free tastings. My favorite day of the week is when I get the allocation email. They do this for both wine and beer (in separate emails, so wine folks aren't bothered by the beer, and vice versa). They list some of their harder to get selections so people can reserve what they like. They will then pull the beer, place it in a bag in the back of the store for you to pick up later. Works for me.... They now also do curbside service. You can make the call and pick it up when you arrive. Thanks for staying awesome Wine Warehouse. read more

After years of being a regular (every two months making a $100 to $200 purchase) I have decided that the Wine Warehouse just isn't worth the trouble anymore. I find most of the things I used to regularly buy I at Wine Warehouse at Wegmans and other local stores for considerably lower prices. The specialty things I bought at Wine Warehouse are usually ports, like Dows or Graham's and those I can find for much better prices online, even when considering shipping costs. The folks at Wine Warehouse have been friendly, though only two employees seem to be knowledgeable and that is just not worth paying premium prices. That coupled with shopping for premium ports online or purchasing higher end but readily available wines at Harris-Teeter or Wegmans is just so easy compared to dealing with the poor location and the tiny and damage prone parking lot at Wine Warehouse. Not that missing out on my $1000 in annual purchases will make a difference to them but this is a business that should close the physical shop so they can lower their prices and become online only if it expects to survive. read more

Someone wrote a review about them being elitists, based on how "classy" you are dressed. NOT true. Everyone has always been nice and helpful to me from the second I walk in the door...and I'm a jeans, t-shirt, and hat guy, with a big beard. Their beer selection is really good, their e-mail list (which is sent on a regular basis) lets you know what is coming in and also allows reservations. I believe they will even try and find a beer you are looking for, if you're buying a certain amount. Went here Tuesday looking for a specific Madeira. Unfortunately, the didn't have what I wanted in stock. However, Porna suggested a few other stores in the area. After a disappointing experience at another shop, I returned and bought another bottle she suggested by the same company. I also was able to purchase some amazing imported Italian cookies. Helpful and friendly service by Porna made this shop stand out. Thank you! Only possible con is the single entrance parking lot on what's essentially a one way. it's a pain to navigate into. I think the only way to enter is from turning off of Emmit onto Hydraulic. read more

I've kept an eye out over time and have concluded that the staff and/or ownership are some kind of judgemental, likely classist. Go in wearing a print t-shirt and shorts expect to be ignored and treated like something foul if you ask for help. Go in wearing a suit, or polo and slacks, and they are all to happy to help. Excellent selection. Very knowledgeable staff that doesn't look down their nose at those who aren't connoisseurs, but don't want to serve Thunderbird. Excellent Belgian ales, too. The store is kept quite cool, so bottles are not overly warm. A little tricky getting in and out of the parking lot depending on the time of day. read more

Great place to shop for beer with a great selection of import and domestic craft beer. Helpful staff will help you pick out what you're craving for or suggest something new. They offer beer singles so you can try without buying a whole six pack, great for sampling new beer. Sign up for their email list for beer and/or wine to get info on new releases, news and whatnot. The store is a bit on the small side with very narrow aisles and access to the storefront and parking lot is limited. read more

We have been stopping here for years on the way back home from Lynchburg. It has been about 2 years since we were in the store last as my family is all gone so we don't make our regular trips. The staff in the past has been very helpful and we have gotten some wonderful wine here. We have spent a couple of hundred dollars every time we've gone. This time we did not buy as much as the two people, an older man, and a younger woman could not have been less helpful. If the older man even looked up at either of us it would have been a miracle. I asked about where the Bordeaux wine was and he mumbled something that I could not even understand so I didn't get any Bordeaux. His attitude was about as chilly as a 5LB bag of ice. The young girl tried to help us but she really did not know much. We barely filled up a box and often leave there with two boxes and the staff helps us carry them out. Their attitude cost them and my husband said take a good look around - means we won't be back. read more

Well curated wine selection. Love their minimalist display and the private parking lot makes it easy to load up on vino. Great craft beer section too, one of Cville's best kept secrets. Though their selection is great I won't be going back in there again. I have given them 3 chances and each time I go in the customer service is non-existance. 7-11 does a much better job then them on every aspect. I have nearly gotten run over by their sales staff when they were showing a customer to a bottle. The thing I don't understand is, how can you make eye contact with me when I come in, ring me up and take my money without saying a word to me. I said hello...I got nothing back in return. This is basic stuff and it is not like you are selling something you could hate...wine. Don't waste your time here, go to the Market Street Wine Shop down the road by the McDonald's, great people who can help you with anything and a really interesting selection as well. read more
