It's one of the more no-frills suburban Metra stations along the line, with no agents, small…read morebathrooms, a water fountain, and vending machines for tickets. There's a modest indoor waiting area that stays warm on the inbound platform (north side of the tracks on Crescent Blvd.), and covered outdoor waiting areas on both sides of the tracks. It's also accessible from the Illinois Prairie bike & pedestrian path, with a bicycle repair station nearby in the public park (Prairie Path Park) to the south. There's plenty of parking up and down the line, and there's a Pace bus stop for the 715 north and south busses. This station features a pedestrian tunnel under the tracks, so you can cross over even with trains approaching. There's an automated PA system and LED sign boards indicating arrival times for trains, and delays. Sadly, the Union Pacific West (UP-W) line is one of the lines more-prone to delays during peak hours (at least compared to other lines I've ridden) due to the never-ending Third Main Line project, some track work near Geneva, or on the eastbound past Oak Park (I don't know if it's track work or regular congestion). In fairness, it seems like every Metra line is getting bogged down the closer you get to the city. Metra staff or contractors seems to clean up fairly regularly, as I rarely see much garbage or dirt in / around the station. Garbage cans seem to be empties regularly enough, that they never seem overfilled. There is plenty of lighting around the station and parking lots, there are a few cameras around the station, and it seems like the area is patrolled by local police frequently enough. You're walking distance to the Main Street shopping area, so there's lots to do in the area between departures. If I'm in the area, I'm not really here for the station, but the station does its job well enough and is a fine gateway to/from the Glen Ellyn Main Street shopping area.

It has also been my choice for international departures when possible, specifically Hong Kong. The size of the airport is easy to navigate and less than an hour flight from my smaller local airport, which usually makes it an affordable option in comparison to Atlanta and New York. During my most recent trips, the airport terminals visited were usually Terminal 1 and 2. All of the elevators, escalators, and moving sidewalks were fully functional. I wish there were more food options during the longer layovers, but it wasn't a dealbreaker.

This airport is big. Big and overwhelming. But my wife enjoyed it. She found it exciting. I found…read moreit still stuck in the 90s, à la "Home Alone." But I digress. The good thing about O'Hare is that it is a major hub for flights, both domestic and international, since it sits in the middle of the country. Of course, getting to downtown Chicago or coming from there can be a challenge, depending on when you're traveling. The Chicago Thruway traffic can be a fright, where you will be on the road for anywhere from 50 minutes to 90 minutes. Coming from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, direct flights to Chicago are plentiful, so getting there is a breeze unless there's a blizzard or some other disastrous weather pattern that may lead to permanent doom. Fortunately, that wasn't the case on our flight earlier this month. Now, reaching the baggage claim can be a bit of a walk, and even more so if you don't know where to find the area to pick up your ride share. That can be incredibly confusing, since it's on the Departures level, not the Arrivals level. The food vendors are not that great if you are gluten-free, like my wife is. For me, I found a spot with Chicago dogs and deep dish, which I enjoyed one more time before boarding our flight back to Fort Lauderdale. For as large and important as O'Hare is as a hub, the terminals and gate seating areas are at least 20 years out of date. But it still works as a major airport, with flights going in and out at all hours of the day.

Anyway, my son was going to Washington D.C. and he had a very early flight (5:30 a.m.). I called several places that were much more expensive. Yes, it is a VERY small operation, but, for us, it was a very good experience. We called the day before and left a message, to which, they called us right back to make the reservation. Yes, because they are small they didn't give us a confirmation number. I was told our call was the confirmation. That made me a little concerned. However, everything went very smoothly. Our pick up time was 3:15 a.m. and the driver got there 15 minutes early. I paid in advance. It was a very good rate and I received an e-receipt quickly. My son had a very good experience. From what I was told, it was a smooth ride and the driver, who was also the owner was very personable and friendly. So, for us, everything worked out very well. Maybe in the past year (the other review was 1/9/14), they have worked the kinks out of their business and have a better service now. All I know is they were fine for us.
