Massive drop in quality from what they used to be. Waited so long for them to get this food truck and I couldn't be more disappointed.

No trip to Gold Country is complete without a stop at Swingle Meat!…read more As mentioned in my previous review, groceries, especially meat prices are super high in the Bay Area, so whenever I have a chance to get some good deals on meat, I'm going to make every trip here worth it. On this trip I picked up some frozen ribeyes, sirloins, burgers, breakfast sausage patties, cheddar jalapeno sausages, and some chile verde and ranch house chicken. The chicken items I got come vacuum sealed, which is perfect when I plan to sous vide them. The things I wish I got more of was their honey pepper beef sticks and hot teriyaki beef jerky. It's very affordable and perfect for snacks. Another low key thing that we like are their frozen chicken wellingtons. super easy to bake at home and it's a tasty meal. I arrived in the morning and luckily it wasn't super busy. Grabbed a basket and before I knew it I had enough meats and snacks to feed a large family when in reality, it's just for a couple of us. $153 well spent and meals for days. The prices for the tri-tips have more than doubled since 2020, but honestly, still a great deal considering the size. $35-40 for a good sized marinated tri-tip is still a steal of a price. The mother lode tri tip is a can't miss and a fan favorite at any of our family bbqs. Definitely plan to bring a cooler and some ice packs so you can keep your meats stored properly in route to back home.

I was expecting a butcher shop where I could select some fresh pork chops or rib eye steaks. But…read moremost of the meats were pre-packaged frozen meats. Absolutely nothing wrong with that... it just wasn't what I was looking for. We did buy some frozen steaks. I found the prices to be reasonable but not worth going out of the way for (it's about 40 miles away from where we live). Regarding the quality of the steaks, we didn't find them to be better than what we normally purchase.

Food truck at Amador Brewing. Menu had no pricing and I was shocked to find out that we paid 10…read morebucks each for a standard hot dog and a fish sandwich. The fish was listed as fish and chips on the menu. So imagine our surprise when what we received was a very small piece of fried fish stick inside a GIANT sandwich roll with tons of cabbage fresh from the plastic bag smothered in a sweet and sickly sugar water glaze. I think they thought they were making coleslaw. Uhh, no! No mayo, no spices, no seasoning, just cabbage from a bag swimming in sugar syrup, no acid, no flavor. The hot dog was straight off the Sysco truck. Probably cost all of .85 to make but charged 10.00! Really not a good dog at all but what made it worse was more of that sweet, crappy coleslaw that seems to be the "filler" on all their dishes. A big plastic container of crappy coleslaw with a tiny portion of what you actually ordered does not disquise a terrible dish and way over priced food. When I asked why don't you display their pricing on the chalkboard menu, the response was "we want you to ask"? WTF?? You mean you want to hide your ridiculously overpriced food vs what you actually receive. Also, the fish sandwich was written as fish and chips. Barely any fish, all bread and said crappy coleslaw along with a few very cold, greasy, kettle chips. Not actually chips nor fish and chips in the traditional menu item. Bait and switch selling tactics delivered with subpar food. They did earn a star because when I questioned the description of fish chips and showed them what we received saying this is a fish sandwich, not fish and chips, he asked me what did I expect? Umm duh, I expected Fish and Chips just as you wrote on the menu description (with no price). I told him I would give him back the humongous, dried sandwich roll for another peice of fish. He accommodated the request turning a terrible review into a buyer beware review with the key tip to ASK questions! Ask about price and how the dish is actually composed and with what ingredients. Buyer Beware!

After my grueling 2 hour wait, I finally open the door to the sweet smell of meat and air conditioning. Atmosphere is busy, and there were 4 lovely ladies just moving along and getting people their orders. I had the GREAT pleasure of having Allie (hope I spelled her name right) serve me. She was extremely patient and giving me every opportunity to ask questions, describe products and give samples to give me the true taste of what she was describing. She was very chipper, never rushing and made me feel like I NEED to come back! Hoping the management reads my review, typically I only write if service was excellent or notably terrible. This visit, this customer service, will make it that much easier, even waiting for 2 hours. Thank you Allie!

We have usuals that we get: Chorizo and Hawaiian Luau Sausage (regular and spicy) and trying new ones: British Bangers, Portuguese Linguic, Polish Kielbasa THIS is what they usually serve at festivals: the most delicious Smoked Dakota Fresh Bratwurst - A MUST BUY!! This place gets busy so have patience and expect to wait in line (outside - so be prepared when it is HOT outside) , they only allow 6 people inside at a time. Also, review the menu before going and prepared to place your order. You can still peruse and add while they are preparing your order. Street parking only (or at least that was all I saw) - could be challenging to find a spot. Would I go back?? YES.... All the way from San Jose.

If you're anywhere near Sonora and not stopping at Docs Dawgs, you're doing life wrong…read more I ordered the Hot Cajun dog, and let me tell you... this thing didn't just have flavor -- it chose violence. Perfect heat, killer seasoning, and the kind of snap that makes you pause mid-bite and reevaluate your life choices (in a good way). The dog was stacked, the bun was on point, and nothing was sloppy -- just a perfectly built, no-nonsense, respect-the-meat hot dog. You can tell they actually care about what they're serving, not just tossing dogs at people. Huge shout-out for the veteran discount as well. That kind of appreciation always means a lot, and it absolutely did not go unnoticed. Great food, great people, great vibe. I'll be back... probably still sweating from the Cajun dog, and totally okay with that. Highly recommend.

Doc's Dawgs serves amazing hot dogs, Polish sausages and more, and over the last several years has gained a reputation among Sonora locals for serving the finest hot dogs in Tuolumne County. The hot dog restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 in the morning until 2:30 in the afternoon. It is a permanent operation, set up on the porch of Wico Farm Store, located in the Sonora Plaza Shopping Center, on Mono Way. The restaurant is located on the sidewalk in front of the store, protected from the elements and offers countless options when it comes to dressing out your dog. Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a hot dog restaurant that offers such a wide array of condiments. Comfortable patio dining is also offered. Doc's Dogs menu offers hot dogs, hot links, nacho cheese, chips, chili, drinks and more. Some of the perks include $1.00 off for veterans, free hot dogs for veterans on Veterans Day, and if your beloved fur buddy is with you he or she will get a "doggie dog," on the house. These are traditions carried on from the previous owner. The chilled box includes all of the fresh condiments, including more mustard and sauces, sliced tomato, diced white onion, sauerkraut, dill pickle relish, sliced peperoncini and pickled, diced jalapeño peppers. Between the choices on the table and the chilled condiment box, you have countless choices to make your hot dog truly unique. In addition, there is a table that holds a wide array of salts, spices hot sauces, along with mustard, ketchup and barbecue sauce. I started at the top of the menu and went with a "Quarter Pound Dog," custom dressed out to my every dining whim. Doc's Dawgs uses quarter pound wieners from Miller's Dogs, manufactured in nearby Lodi. This large dog was everything a hot dog lover could ever ask for, as the quarter pound dog was grilled perfection, tender, juicy, complete with natural casing. The dog was seated on a large, fresh bun, which fit the dog perfectly and added to the goodness. Note that the "dog" in Doc's Dawgs isn't your garden variety supermarket hot dog, it's a true hot dog, complete with natural casing. From the chilled condiment selection I added mayonnaise, plain yellow mustard, dill pickle relish, chopped white onion, along with a touch of sourkraut. I didn't add any of the salts or hot sauce from the table, as by the time I was finished, my dog was fully dressed. My first bite rewarded me with a satisfying "snap," thanks to the natural casing of the Miller's Dog. Yes, this was the real deal, as the dog was natural, which always is the place to start when you want to enjoy a superior hot dog. The dog-to-bun ratio was spot-on, which is crucial for a superior hot dog. The condiments worked in tandem with the dog to provide a perfect taste sensation. The hot dog was simply delicious! Now I know why all "foodies" and hot dog lovers rave about the amazing hot dogs, served by Doc's Dawgs in Sonora! Sonora hot dog enthusiasts have it right, as simply stated, Doc's Dawgs serves the BEST hot dogs in Tuolumne County! The dogs are amazing, the condiments are nearly endless, the patio seating is comfortable, and friendly hot dog chef Renee will treat you like a rock star. When you're looking for an amazing hot dog and more, think of Doc's Dawgs, located in Sonora, CA. Truly Five Star dining!

They have a variety of dogs... all beef, Italian sausage, spicy hot link, elk, bison, boar, and beyond brat (vegan). Look for the food truck in the parking lot with a Shell gas station on Highway 50. The dogs are served up plain or you can get them specialized as in a Chicago dog, Sonoran dog, chili cheese, etc. The dogs range $7.50-$15. Plus they got fries$5-13. Those too are served plain or specialized. My faves are the chili fries, Chicago dog, and New York style dog. The chili is no beans and the fries are double fried giving them an extra crispy layer of crust. I do have to tell them light on the onions and mustard because they give you a full bang for your buck and load it up. But Hubs likes it that way. I like to wash it all down with their homemade lemonade. It's the real deal, made with lemons, sugar, and water. The $6 lemonade is served up in a whomping 32 ounce container. Get this, they serve breakfast as well. You can get an egg, cheese, hash brown on an 8 inch Italian roll or bowl. $9.50. Add bacon, sausage or steak $2.50-$4.50 extra.
