Instead of handling the situation politely or offering any kind of reasonable explanation, I was treated like I had done something wrong simply for living in the area. As a paying customer, being turned away simply because of where I live was frustrating, embarrassing, and completely unacceptable. Policies like this should be clearly stated up front instead of surprising guests at the front desk after they've already made plans. Because of this experience, I will never rent a room from a Best Western again--even when I'm traveling on the road. Customer service and transparency clearly aren't a priority here.

I requested a room on the fourth floor NOT facing the freeway when I booked online AND checked in. So I was surprised and confused when I entered my room that faced the freeway. I didn't sleep well due to all the big rigs accelerating and engine braking. The rooms were nice and clean and the bed was comfy and bed bug free. The free breakfast was decent, it kept me full until lunchtime. The WiFi was strong and free.

I booked and checked in 1/1/26 after driving all day. I originally booked and selected a first floor room through the Hilton app and when I received the digital key it was for room 302. I called and Annette told me over the phone the owners would pay the cleaners on the holiday so none of the 1st or 2nd floor rooms were clean or available. Cool. I arrive and go to my room 302 located right in front of the open area ice machine. And immediately can hear multiple people stomping around upstairs. Not to mention the grossly stained carpet. I called the front desk and asked to be changed rooms because of these things. She moved me to 304 right next door that was just as dirty and had dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I called the front desk again and told Annette I told her given that both rooms were dirty. I didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the bed given visible areas of the room were dirty and both rooms were so musty, and smelled it like mold. She apologized and I met her at the front desk. She told me she'd leave notes for her boss and gave me a piece of paper with the managers contact info so I could get my stay refunded because I did in fact not stay. The next morning I called the manager Cherie and I received attitude from the start. She said Annette didn't leave her notes so she needed to go see the rooms herself after asking me what was wrong with them. She claimed the cleaners only leave the dishes clean and insinuated I was lying. I told her I took pictures and had no problem coming back to show her if necessary. She told me that wasn't needed and she'd call me back then click. She hung up. She called me back about 30 minutes later, and offered me 5000 Hilton points but told me they wouldn't be refunding my stay. Not what Annette had told me or I wouldn't have gone on my way so easily. Honestly this is the WORST HILTON I've ever attempted to stay at and the manager should get a new job because she certainly isn't good at customer service.

The AC unit made some weird sounds but we were tired enough we all fell asleep ok. They offer a complimentary breakfast which makes it super easy and quick with the kids. They had the usual offerings- fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, juice, coffee, eggs, sausage, croissant breakfast sandwiches, bagels, toast, pastries and waffles. So, I took the liberty to fully inspect the room and I made notes for this review. We spent over $200 for one night and it's honestly top five of the nastiest rooms I've ever stayed in. Upon walking into the room, the air in the room even felt dirty so, I knew I was going to have a bad night. There was a fly infestation in our bottom level hotel room, we killed at least 12 flies in the room on the one night that we stayed there. We came in from dinner and I saw multiple rooms with their doors wide open, the tenants were smoking in the doorways of their rooms, and they had their crusty clothes drying on the railings, not a good look. The hotel felt very unsafe, type of hotel you don't want to walk around at night. Sheets were musty and not fresh. Towels were rough and stained. Shower curtain was moldy. Three extremely long black straight hairs were all over the shower chair. Crusted blue soap on the shower soap dish and shower hose. Hair all over the shower floor. Poop crusted in the toilet bowl. Blood on the comforter. Stains all over the furniture. Dusty tables. Dirty refrigerator with food particles all in it. But, what made me the most upset was the dirty floor. There was no carpet in the room, so the main flooring was vinyl. It was never vacuumed or mopped before we checked in. I know this because, I made three passes in my white socks from the bathroom area to the couch to move our luggage and my socks turned black with dirt and grime immediately. After the kids took their showers they walked from the bathroom to their bed and their feet were black with dirt. Thankful I always bring towels from home so, we used the spare hotel towels to make a pathway for them to walk on to the bathroom. The level of filthiness in this hotel room could have made my family and I extremely sick. We were so turned off by our stay here that we didn't even eat at the free breakfast buffet. We had a long drive home, it would have been very annoying to have gotten diarrhea. Needless to say, my family and I will never stay here again. If anyone ever asked me what hotel to avoid in the area, I'll mention yours.

The staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast is the standard hotel fare, but it was well stocked and hot and there were staff members regularly checking the dining room and tidying up. The negative. The hotel was much dirtier than I usually experience, even at the lower cost Holiday Inn branded locations. The room looked clean on the surface but walking barefoot on the carpet resulted in black feet within just minutes. It made a room that otherwise looked clean feel dirty. The lobby and common areas weren't any better. Ice machines were broken on our floor and trash and stored items were visible in multiple common areas. I left a similar review on the IHG website. Again praise to the staff, but ownership needs to pay more attention before they lose business.

Never an issue for me as I usually call for late check in. But today was surprisingly early for us at 5-ish. Check out is your typical 11:00. Breakfast is your standard IHG fare. Eggs, sausage, breads and cereals, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, yogurts and fruits. Juices, milk, coffee and tea round out the beverages. Served 6:00-9:30 daily. Room amenities include an older 40-inch TV, microwave, mid-fridge, ironing board, coffee maker (k-cup), and hair dryer. Overall, your standard stay for a Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
