Very disappointing. You can't expect much near Monroe for an inexpensive hotel, but this Wingate fared worse than I would have hoped. Maybe the relatively low rate should have been a red flag. At check-in, things seemed fine. The interior of the building was in good condition and it looked like a typical Wingate. The room appeared clean and comfortable, but that's where the positive impression stopped. I went to switch on a light by the bed and nearly cut my fingers on a jagged, broken light switch. The hotel advertised a spa, but it was boarded up. The pool room was also dark, suggesting it was closed as well. Most of the ice machines in the building were broken, but luckily one on the second floor did work. When I checked out, a disinterested female clerk didn't even say thank you or goodbye. Just silence as I asked to check out and she threw a receipt at me. Very unprofessional. Overall, the room was tolerable given the price, but I expect better from Wingate properties. read more

I feel bad, because the staff here is so friendly and tried to help, but this place should be condemned. We arrive, our room looks like a bar fight happened in there. All the furniture was pulled away from the walls and crooked, lampshades barely hanging on, fixture lights busted, all of that is aesthetic and easy to overlook because we're just in for the night. Manager came personally to fix our tv, and was so sweet to us. We love her. Then, we try to run a bath for my baby. The bathroom itself is in need of a lot of repairs (shower curtain barely affixed to the wall, knobs almost coming off in your hand) but the real problem was the water, because it's brown. Not kind of brown, not coffee cup rinsed out brown, mud brown. I call the desk, did not get the lady we love from before, was rudely told there's a letter from the city saying it's safe to drink and bathe in. I'm sorry, what? I'm not drinking or putting a baby in mysteriously brown water. So nobody got to bathe while we stayed, would you have washed your family in that water? On to the next big problem, the toilet. It would only flush if you poured water into the bowl, to make it flush. We paid $120 to basically go camping last night. This morning, my little one spilled some water on the floor. Me, not being a total savage, tried to clean it up with a towel and WHAAAAAT is this blood and mud and stink stuff coming up on this towel yall. I didn't scrub, just set the towel on the wet and stepped on it and the towel is black and brown with what looked like filth and blood. I walk down to the front desk and tell the attendant, who is primed and ready with yet another excuse- there's a red carpet pad under the carpet and when it gets wet, it brings up what looks like bloodstains. I'm sorry, that doesn't explain the other dirt and smells from clearly never cleaning this carpet. Y'all. Go somewhere else. They're sweet but this place is haggard. read more

WYNDHAM, REALLY...??? I can NOT believe you are allowing this.. It IS your reputation on the line. After looking at 3rd room, we said NO, and checked out. Talked with a couple that also were not happy with their room. They were going to Walmart to buy a Blanket to put on their bed.. The front desk clerk gave me an email address to send my concerns to. I sent the email and NEVER heard anything back regarding any concern for this filthy, raunchy, discussing, hole in the wall, so called hotel. I do NOT know one person that would want to walk in to this dump. DO NOT STAY HERE! And, being a Wyndham, this was $95 nightly after our discount. Wow!! Thank you very much. We flew in to Monroe for a quick 3 night visit with kids and grandkids. What an experience! We enjoyed the time with the kiddos, though. read more

This is the most poorly run hotel I've ever stayed in. At check-in, there was nobody at the desk. I waited at least 15 minutes before ever seeing a single employee. Finally, the girl who "works" there came ambling up, complaining about having to clean up after some kids. I tried joking with her to relieve her stress, but she didn't seem to want to hear anything. She took forever to check us in, informing me and my friend that she was upgrading us from two queens to a king suite. I asked if it had two beds, as he and I did not want to share a bed. She said it had a pullout couch. Now why in the heck would one of us prefer a pullout couch to a queen bed?? And she couldn't understand why we didn't want the upgrade. Finally, we convinced to just put us in the room I had reserved and she started the paperwork on it. It took her forever to get things in order, even though I had done all of it online. I took the key envelope from her and went to the room. When I got there it took at least 5 attempts to get the door open. The key card was hinky and the door knob would only operate by rotating in 1 direction. When I went to replace the key card in its sleeve, I realized she only gave us 1 key. Why would you only make 1 key for 2 adults checking into a room? Once inside the room, we found a safe in the closet to store our valuables. After several attempts to operate the safe, we realize that it was broken, and we'd have to take our valuables with us if we wanted to keep them. There's 2 elevators, but only one of them works, and it is SLOW. Fortunately, there's only 3 floors, so the stairs were the best option, but I used the elevator on my first trip. When I got off on my floor, the cleaning woman had left her cart directly in front of the elevator door. I almost fell over it. And she was nowhere to be found. Why would a person leave that cart there. On my first return to the room, I found that my key card no longer functioned. When I went down to the desk to get another, the lady there said that I shouldn't put it against my phone. The card hadn't been near my phone. It had been in my wallet with all of my other cards to prevent my phone from demagnetizing them. But she spent time trying to tell me how it was my fault the the key card didn't work. The next day, my roommates key card did the same thing. I think she was screwing with us somehow. The water in the shower was barely Luke warm and had almost no pressure. There was a coffee maker and coffee in the room, but only decaf. WTH? Why would you only have decaf? The only thing I can say positive about my stay here is that the AC worked well and the bed was comfortable. I did not enjoy listening to the cleaning ladies scream down the hall at each other nor the surly nature of the worker at the desk. This place has got problems read more

So far not sure how this place is going to be. Took me a long time to check in because the first room's lock wouldn't work, so I had to ask for another room. She gave me the one across the hall from room service storage. When I asked her, she says if a guest needs something in the middle of the night, the requested items are retrieved from a storage room downstairs. By the time I got settled into my second room, all the restaurants nearby were closed and I had hurried to the hotel to check in, get a decent rate, and get decent parking with my truck and trailer. At least the front office person had a nice attitude. Room is very nice but the bed has these small square pillows. If they hurt my neck, I will request real pillows. Toilet didn't look like it had been cleaned today. Several rust spots. To be continued. read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE! I was there enjoying myself initially and then I came down for breakfast. There was absolutely no breakfast ready even though it was breakfast time. But okay I'll wait patiently along with another family. Now just to be clear, I'm black and the other family was black also. They were there first and then I came and there was no food left so I asked the attendant to bring out more food. A Caucasian lady comes and starts to wait also. When Miss Pat brings out the food she tells me that I've already eaten, which I hadn't, and to move so the Caucasian lady can get some food. She was rude and her tone was nasty. I'm assuming that she thought I was with the other black family. I wasn't. First, she shouldn't have said that to any customer regardless of the race. Second, you should not assume that all people are together just because they're the same race. I complained about it, no one apologized or said anything. Not to mention I was not able to have a good breakfast because she was not able to keep the food or plates out on the buffet a line. So I had to eat my eggs separate from my waffle and separate from my sausages. Furthermore, I found roaches in my room. I have high expectations for the Wyndham Hotel since I visited there in Chicago years ago had a wonderful experience. What a filthy sewer. The lobby smelled like mildew, the carpet is filthy, the mirror has handprints on them, all the surfaces including the tv screen has streaks on them where they were sloppily wiped down, dead roach in the bathroom, wallpaper peeling, rust in the tub, drain in the tub was broke off and lying in the tub, chair stained. The breakfast is a joke. Coffee, apple, apple sauce or a granola bar. Wyndham should be ashamed to put their name on this sewer. Yes- they do accept pets but $50.00 fee - other hotels in area are $30 - the bed was comfortable - the carpets, baseboards, bathroom walls were filthy The hotel needs a great handyman on staff as it is very old and needs much maintenance Our front desk person did his job, and that was about it - when our room key did not work- not once but twice we were made to feel that we had done something wrong and that it was a bother for him to fix it - he couldn't get it to work either. We booked a group-rate for 16 at the Wingate by Wyndham, in West Monroe, LA. 1. The exterior of the hotel was maintained. 2. No early check-in or assistance from the Management 3. Some staff was helpful and some were rude and uninformed 4. Administrative hassles for our group have gone unacknowledged. Resulting in inconsistent room-rate-inaccuracies (overcharge), room miss-assignments and placement into smoking vs non-smoking rooms. 5. Poor room service My family and I have literally travelled all over the world (Caribbean, Paris, London, West-Africa, Singapore, Japan, China) and this was the single worse hassle due to mishandling of the problems we've brought to the Management and GMs attention. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Came to town with another couple for a wedding. We booked a two queen bed room. They didn't have any two queen rooms clean and couldn't tell us when it would be ready. We had to dress for the wedding so I changed in the lobby bathroom. The girls got us put in a one queen bed room to change, where we were gonna have to stay for the whole night. Conveniently located just off the interstate with nearby cinema, dining, shopping, and even cheap gas for a fill-up the next day. They are making a valiant attempt to fight off age and most of the facility was well maintained. The one exception was the coffee drips on the counter in my room and it's musty smell. They had the air-condition off (probably due to the cool spring weather), so once I turned it off and cooled off the room the smell dissipated. I also had the misfortune of a bathroom light on it's deathbed providing minimal flickering illumination. The water appears to be desalinated, so it has an oily feel and it's difficult to know when the soap has been rinsed off. It also makes the tub a slippery trap and the metal railings on all sides were helpful. The worst failure, however, was the horrible internet that was slow as to be unusable. I eventually gave up and used the 3G on the iPad instead. read more

So we did an overnight trip from NOLA to West Monroe to see the Duck Dynasty shindigs. OK, it was my idea, since I am the faithful fan. ANYWAY. Booked this room - 2 queens for one night - $105.61. Not too bad, we figured. Got to the hotel and the check-in was seamless. Free WiFi, which was nice. I did not encounter any problems with the internet. I did however, encounter problems with phone service (T-mobile). EVERYWHERE was horrible phone signal! I digress. Beds were comfy, and the complimentary breakfast was good - had a waffle maker, toast, biscuits, cereal, muffins, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, juices, milk, and water. I agree with another reviewer though about the water - it is hard to tell when you've gotten all the soap off of your skin, because the water feels almost... oily or something; i think it is the area, not the hotel in particular. Also, the shower has a slow drain, and a big rust spot at the drain in our bathroom. No bueno. I would return. The pool is OK, but super hot in the room. I did not go in the pool, because the floor of the pool looked suspect. read more

This hotel is awful. Our room was very shabby. The beds weren't made up properly and the bedding was torn wrinkled and ripped the furniture in the room was very tattered. Our was barely made up on the first night when we got back to the room. The second night nothing had been done in our room. Beds weren't made and there were no clean towels. Wish I had read the reviews first. There were so many issues that I am only going to bring up the worse ones. A crew of approximately 50 young women checked into the room across from ours to have a party. They had walked through the lobby with all of their decorations, speakers, so it was obvious to the front desk staff they were going to have a party. When I returned to the hotel that evening, you could hear the party blaring from the lobby. I just did not realize it was across the hall from my room till I arrived at my room. I asked them to be quiet. They turned the music down for 30 seconds. The receptionist said she could NOT do anything about it because she couldn't leave the front desk. I said there are 50 people in the room, you have a room limit and you can hear the party (on 2nd floor) from the lobby. They gave me another room rather than address the issue. In the morning staff said they partied until after one, but they didn't address it because there was no one else near the room. Our toilet was broke. The maintenance man came to fix it, we said wait one minute while I get dressed. He said he would be right back and disappeared and never returned. Room keys were a constant issue, for everyone in the hotel- front desk staff said we just weren't doing the keys right. Keys worked about once every 6 attempts. The elevators were beyond filthy and my feet got stuck to the floor in both. Our second room had chunks of dirt on the floor-Not vacuumed recently. They gave us one bath towel for four people. The breakfast items that were available, were shriveled from being in the pan for so long. No yogurt until I asked for some, And then she brought six yogurt containers for the 30 people eating breakfast. No pepper as they had run out and said they couldn't get any more. I travel a lot for work, and while not the worst place I've ever stayed, it has a few serious issues. Extremely dated, somewhat dingy, but relatively clean. My biggest issue is that upon returning to the hotel after a rough day at work, my room is still being torn apart by housekeeping. Keep in mind, this is at 5:00 PM in the evening. Not once in my entire life have I had to go find something to do for an hour at 5:00 PM because my room was being cleaned still. And the front desk was unnervingly nonchalant about it. Sleeping in my car would have been better! Filthy place, peeling paint in bathroom, sticky carpet and poorly closing window curtain. The front door was broken, so entry was thru a smaller side door. No carts for luggage. The lady handling check in was the only person on duty. No linens for pull out bed, she could not bring them. No towels in bathroom, she could not bring them. Pool closed. 2 of the 3 ice machines were out of order, the 3rd was out of ice! The false fire alarm in the middle of the night would normally be a problem, but it was barely noticeable over the very loud music from the cars in the parking lot 1:30am. I was in town for a funeral. I brought along a friend. The hotel is easy to find, right off the freeway with many eating places and shops nearby. Even the movie theater is just across the parking lot and the mall is a short drive away. The beds were comfortable. There is a gym and indoor pool. There was a microwave, small refrigerator and one cup coffee maker in the room. Free breakfast is available every morning and consists of eggs, potatoes, sausage, biscuits, waffles, dry cereals, packaged oatmeal, coffee, juice, milk. I was informed after I booked the room about some construction. It was not anything too major - wallpaper, tape on signs that were being replaced, paper numbers on the doors. The worst part was a very distinct odor by the elevators and particularly in the gym. It was so overwhelming, I was not able to workout. I also would have liked more low carb choices for breakfast but it was good quality adequate offerings. Our beds were made but the trash was not emptied and we were not given fresh towels. The stay was more good than not. I would recommend this hotel after renovations. However, look for a price increase. With my educator discount I paid about $100/night. read more

This Wingate is okay. All things are on par with most other hotels in this chain. There were a few things that were off though. My trash can had garbage in it when I checked into my room, also, the bike in the fitness center was so loud that I couldn't even hear my iPod! Overall, the hotel is okay but it's nothing to rave about. read more

Defiantly not the worst Hotel in West Monroe. But not the best either. The Bads: not pet friendly. My dog had to sleep in the car :( Hotel isn't filthy but not very clean. I saw dirt in the hallway. The pool area is very dirty. Pool bathroom is dirty. There are NO towels in the pool area and we only had 2 towels in our room. So we had no towels left. There should be a rack with clean towels on the rack in my opinion. Pillows aren't horrible but not that comfy:/ No kids tv channel on tv, like Disney Jr or Nick Jr. Some ladies at the front desk were friendly, some not so friendly. When we first got the the hotel, we had a reservation, and we had to wait 15 mins for them to clean our room. Not a real biggy but just would of been nice to have our room clean and waiting on us. Lady was smoking by the pool area, outside, but she left he door open. It smelt sooo bad! We asked her to close the door and she did thankfully. We had 2 asthmatics and they don't need to smell her smoke. Like someone else said, the water was slippery and hard to tell when soap was off. When my kids went to take a bath the water was brown. Literally. Brown. My children were even asking what was wrong with the water. Goods: room was pretty clean. Some of the cleaning ladies were friendly and would ask if we needed anything. Although the pool area was dirty I like the indoor pool. Very nice can swim year round. Good location for west Monroe. Close to a lot of restaurants etc. Like I said not horrible but not perfect. This building needs serious work, the staff member was very nice and helpful. Our room did not have a working AC unit so she came upstairs to check it out and said this was one of their "newer units", it looks 10 already, after she agreed it wasn't working she checked out other rooms for us, it took 3 rooms to find a working Ac. The shower head looks like it's from. The 80s, the side of the tub in the rooms we saw will all lose , the shower screeches when turned on, EVERY DOOR HANDLE was grimy like it has not ever been wiped down by the cleaning service. All doors were dirty and haven't been wiped down in who knows how long, bathroom floors were dirty, the ice machine in the hotel doesn't work, the cart for luggage had half inflated tires and was hard to maneuver, the WiFi did not work at all and the room keys worked out of 7 attempts.. The entertainment center has chips all over it, the pull out couch bed was horrible. The breakfast buffet was minimal but doable.This place will work if in a pinch and other hotels were booked but make sure you go in expecting to use hand sanitizer after touching anything. This place needs a ton of maintenance just to function for what you pay for. Overpriced in my opinion for the facility it is. This should be more like a $50 a night place for everything that doesn't work and isn't cleaned. read more

The management of the hotel is a total disaster. I called the corporate number to book my reservation and then called three times to confirm. None of the rooms were right. We had to purchase air mattresses because they didn't even have a roll away. Problem after problem was met with very poor customer service. NEVER AGAIN. Came from Az wit husdand and daughter. We can never go wrong wit Wyndham. They have a hot buffet breakfast, limited but worth it. Pay the extra 20 to 30 bucks on this hotel cuz if you stay anywhere else, you'll have to buy breakfast anyhow. Nice kingsize bedroom suite wit frig and microwave. Not recommended. When we arrived after check in time the front desk asked housekeeping what rooms were made up. We got assigned a room, when we got to our room the door was ajar and a young man was leaned against the desk, he was on his phone. We asked housekeeping gals in the hallway if the room was ready, they said yes. We entered and the young man left- very strange. The floors were so dirty that I kept my sandals on. Put towels on the bathroom floor and they were filthy by time we left. On the plus side the staff was pleasant. Plenty of things in the room that needed maintenance....guess the guy on his phone was maintenance guy? read more

Well it seems that things may have changed at this hotel in the last few months. We stayed on a return trip to TX from GA in early January. The hotel was well maintained, the exercise facility was just what I needed in the morning, the breakfast was average for a hotel breakfast (there is an IHOP close by so if you feel the need for pancakes you are set). We called while on the road and the front desk clerk was very helpful, to the point of even going out to storage herself to find a crib for my son. When we arrived, check in was a breeze and everyone that evening and the next morning were wonderful, polite and kind even to our kids (ages 5, 3 and 1). It was a welcome stop for us and I would stay there again. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the feather type bed, a bit to soft for me but I like a super firm bed, it worked for one night though. read more
